Satellite L550-1CC crashed - do not have Win 7 64 bit recovery disc

Just bought a laptop Toshiba L550-1CC with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed.
Other software had been installed on the 64-bit version and then the laptop crashed and seem to start with the OS but with a blank screen and only the Courvite of mice showing that could be moved.

Unfortunately, the laptop came with a Windows recovery disc 7 32 bit only.
This has been used to charge the cell phone who then worked well with all the software loaded into the hard.

It's my wife's new laptop and she would in reverse on the 64 bit version of Windows 7 which did not appear in the Toshiba recovery disc.

The partition of the HARD drive in the laptop has always hidden for access 64-bit original software and can make you a 64-bit recovery disc while the Toshiba is still running on 32-bit software. Having received only the new laptop, that I didn't want to spend another £30 on the purchase of a 64-bit recovery disc?

There have been any help to settle this with gratitude because I get heckled by the boss.

Chris

Hi Prassky,

If you start the recovery of HARD drive option, you should be able to restore Windows 7 64 bit. So I agree with Timox.

But I have a question: why you didn t create the recovery disk Toshiba for Windows 7 64 bit first? It seems that you didn t read the user manual

Anyway, to start the HARD drive recovery and hope that you will be able to create the recovery disk. If this isn't the case, you must order the Toshiba disk.

  • Win 7 64 bit has been preinsatlled but I only Win 7 32 bit recovery disc

    Hello guys,.

    OK here is the story:

My toshiba laptop comes with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Pre 64 bit. This laptop has 4 GB of memory, so it needs 64-bit to use all 4 GB. Today, Toshiba only provided me with a 32-bit rescue disk that installs the 32-bit version of Microsoft Windows 7 Home pre. Stupid huh?

Today, Toshiba, with an attatude of a 13-year-old told me, we will not provide you with a record of 64-bit, we don't have to do it legally. Telephone Microsoft if you think we are braking the law.

So im guessing they thought I wouldn't, well I did :)
Here are the highlights of what Microsoft has said,
Toshiba using our Direct OEM license and there to provide end users with support to restore the system operating at the same version that preinstalled. Thanks to Windows 7 OEM 32-bit and 64-bit OEM support options they should be you offering two options. However, they are only legally to provide 64-bit because it is pre-installed.

I explained to him that Toshiba refused to provide me with the media and said to themselves, they then trasnfered me the string (basiclly I talked to 4 people) I got threw to the UK head office which is now dealing with my case. They turned round and said that Toshiba are just being clumsy in the fact that they said that they are not breaking the law and to contact Microsoft becauseinfact, they are in violation of the license OEM Direct from Microsoft and Toshiba betwean.

    So what is happening now?
Well Microsoft will now contact Toshiba about this, Director at Headquarters is going to try to get her ANDS on a copy of the OEM disc for me, if it is unable to do, so she'll contact Toshiba and tell them that they must give me with her. They will also investigate Toshiba on this beach.

    So my question to Toshiba,
Why when I called today your sure support decided to take a bad tone of voice, raise your voice and try to argue with me when I was polite and calm with him?
Why when Microsoft told me that you were in violation of license you said that I was not faithful?

As I rip this message Microsoft Head office phoned me, they called Toshiba, Toshiba said Microsoft, they are not in violation of license due to Toshiba which allows users 'Software' to create their own media, Microsoft disagreed with them because of the license indicating to provide to the user the media not a metod to create the media and handed the case to the Legal Department here and Microsoft are now send me one commercial version of Microsoft Home Premium 64-bit for free myself.

Anyway, if a member of the staff may answer my two questions above, I would be grateful.

    Thank you

First of all, I guess you don t know that it is a forum for user to user... here in the forum you can get a recommendation of the users regular laptops like you and me ;)

Second, you can find the info in the user manual which was preinstalled on your laptop, which a tool called Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator has been pre-installed that allows you to create recovery disk for Win 7 64 bit and this is the reason why the 64-bit recovery disc has not provided with the laptop.

Like many, I know this is a common process and my Satellite U400 has not provided with the drive too because I could use the Toshiba recovery disc creator to create the recovery disk.

I think that it's my personal opinion, Toshiba and Microsoft are business partner and they know exactly the own enterprise.

If what you bought is an OEM System Builder Windows 10 Pro license, then you can indeed buy Windows 7 Professional.

Because Windows 7 is in limited stock because Microsoft ended sales in October 2013, this created demand due to its rarity. This means the retail boxed copies request a bonus, while the OEM System Builder copies remain affordable.

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

There is nothing wrong to use it too, especially that all future versions of Windows will be full versions.

You can find software OEM System Builder of dozens of online merchants. The current price for OEM Windows 7 Professional Newegg, for example, is $ 140. When I checked a few minutes ago, Amazon offered packages OEM Windows 7 Professional from several vendors at prices ranging from $ 101 to $ 150. When I checked earlier, a package specifically designed for reconditioned PCs cost only $ 50 for a 64-bit copy.

There is no technical limitation to prevent you from using OEM software on your computer, although this software only works for a clean install, not an upgrade. In the past, Microsoft has been remarkably inconsistent in his advice to clients on the question of whether this practice is allowed. (See "is allowed to use Windows OEM on your own PC? • CD/DVD AutoPlay does not not on Satellite L550-1CC

    Hello

AutoPlay does not appear when you insert a disc in the CD/DVD drive or use a USB more.
He used be ok up to 3 months ago.
I don't remember if I did anything to get rid of AutoPlay.

It is a satellite L550-1cc, windows 7. 64-bit operating system.

I went into Control Panel / hardware & audio / Auto Play and Auto Play's Ticked the box for all.
    Still no Auto game
Then go into My Computer directions click on DVD - RW drive / properties / material / click on TSST corp CD DVGW
TS-L633C. The display now indicates "this device now works correctly.
But there is STILL no Auto play.

Please anyone know where to go to the next, I'm lost?

    Thanks Martin

The AutoPlay option isn't appearing any more in Win 7 under the CD/DVD drive properties.
Auto Play located in the Panel as you suggested above.

    Panel-> AutoPlay
Here you must check the option called reading auto use for all devices and media

Now if you want to listen to an Audio CD, you must choose a default application for Audio CD. Here, change the option called choose a default of Windows Media Player, in case you want to use this software for automatic playback.

    Hi all

Recently, the departure until I received the message "one of your disks needs to be checked for consistency", and then it runs a scan, and after 2 0r 3 minutes boots up to windows as usual.
This happens not all the time, but recently, more often.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi shaun1d,

Have you noticed some unusual noise from the HARD drive?

I've never had such a problem on Windows 7, but it would be interesting to know if you can find some information about it in the same Windows Viewer.
    Have you looked there already?

  • Re: Satellite L550-11J - crashes if I play a game

    Modell Nr.: PSLN8E - 012013GR
Installed: Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit (all readers to the latest version)

    Hello
I assume that my L550 main fan does not run correctly.
For example, I want to play a game of detail with DX10, every thing works perfectly without lag, but after 1 to 5 minutes, the system becomes slower and slower until the game crashes to the desktop.
Then when I'm on the desktop the trys L550... to cool at the end dear BIOS ;-).
I had the same problems with similar games and even compared to the indicators.

So my question is: is there a unoffical BIOS update that will support fan control options? I already have the latest version of the BIOS, but it's not. Or is there still a software that works very well with L550?

    Best regards, Amir.

    Hello

Just a question: what display driver you are using?
As far as I know your laptop is equipped with ATI HD4650 graphics card and therefore, you need to download the latest driver on Toshiba page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Also what operating system are you using? It is the preinstalled operating system from Toshiba?

If you use Windows Vista, you can change the cooling method in Vista Power Management. Set the cooling option and try again.
    It work?

  • Satellite L650-14F - system does not have WiFi

    Hi all

I've seen a few topics about this, but I still can't solve my problems. I have brand new Toshiba Satellite L650 14th but I can't seem to use my WiFi.

The problem is that the system does not recognize, even in the Device Manager there is nothing. I downloaded the driver from the toshiba site, but when I run it nothing happens. I also tried the BIOS update and install the package of added value, but still nothing. Also, someone mentioned editing tool of Network Device ID registry settings, I downloaded that too, but when I run also nothing happens. I did a lot of research and could not find the solution or the driver work.
    Furthermore, I have windows 7 64 bit.

Any ideas? I really need wifi, my started classes two weeks ago and no internet at home, I can't do anything useful. Thank you.

    Hey Buddy,

If the system doesn't recognize the WLAN card, it seems to be disabled.

You should check the key combination FN + F8 which can enable/disable the WLAN connection.
In addition on some laptops you can toggle the wireless LAN in the BIOS.

  • Satellite L550 PSLW8A can only get OEM Win7 Pro 32-bit to 64-bit?

    Hi all

    I am writing from Australia.

Two weeks ago, I bought a new laptop Toshiba ([http://tinyurl.com/ye6jkuq]) with the following characteristics:

    Model: Satellite L550
    Reference number: PSLW8A-01101F
    BIOS: V1.60
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P7450 2.13 GHz
    RAM: 4 GB
    HARD DRIVE: 500 GB
OS: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (OEM preinstalled)

    My question:
    How can I switch to Win7 Pro * 32 - bit * for Win7 Pro * 64 - bit *?

If I use the recovery disk (the hidden recovery partition) utility to do a clean reinstallation of Win7 Pro, I will give the choice during the process of resettlement of the installation either the 32-bit version or 64-bit?

Or I have + not + get the choice at all and simply be limited to the OEM Win7 Pro 32-bit that came pre-installed version?

All advice or information about how to pass OEM Win7 Pro 32-bit to Win7 Pro 64-bit would be appreciated.

    Nick

    Hello

AFAIK almost all new laptops are available with 32 and 64-bit OS and two recovery images are saved on the HARD drive.
When you start installation HARD drive you should see the option to choose which version must be installed.

Simply start the installation of HARD drive and you will see what menu you will see at the beginning. Not be afraid to do so. Nothing will happen.
Real OS installation starts two steps later. If you can not damage preinstalled OS.

  • Satellite L300-01:00 - touchpad driver for Win 7 64 bit necessary

    Hello

I can't find the above mentioned driver for win7 64 bit.
Touchpad had worked normally, with a Win7 driver and after a msg of error just stopped working (I can't scroll with the touchpad).

Enyone have model L300 with 64 bit OS or know model that have the same touchpad driver for win7 64 bit on support downloads?

    Help, please...

    Hello

Touchpad driver is not in the laptop model.
You can choose the touchpad drivers released for other series of satellites as well.
I can recommend the Satellite L500. There you can download the Synaptics and Alps touchpad driver. Both are released for Win 7 64 bit.

Please note that scrolling touchpad can be changed/turned on in the control panel-> mouse-> device settings.

I think it must be enabled.

  • Re: Satellite Pro A210, stil does not start after you use the recovery disk

Hi, my computer laptop girls stopped booting, I tried everything to fix this, but it seems to be on a loop.

He runs the repair of your computer, but after a while, I get the message, this computer cannot repair this fault automatically (or something similar), there is also a message that says - if you have connected a camera or to this computer's portable music player, remove it now and restart.

I tried to start in safe mode, safe mode with command prompt and last know good configuration but still no joy, so I eventually ran the recovery disc. Once it was finished, I was to square.

Does anyone have an idea of what I can try next - other than to throw it out the nearest window.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Never heard talk of this error but sounds strange
If I understood your first assignment; you were able to complete the installation of the OS from the recovery disc. Is this good?

Well, in this case the HARD disk must be OK because the files were copied correctly

I searched a bit in google and didn t have found a solution to 100%.
Some have said that new OS install should solve this perhaps you could use clean up Windows Vista, Win XP disk

You can also try to format the drive HARD integer first. Delete all partitions on the HARD drive, and then try again

PS: You can check the HARD drive using the + Hitachi Drive Fitness Test. +
Its free tool. You can find using google

First; There, please do not type in uppercase.  It is considered rude and make your post less readable.

The version of Java to use depends on the browser.  Firefox is a 32-bit browser therefore uses the 32-bit version of Java.
Internet Explorer, for example, has a 32-bit and 64-bit version in Windows 7, the two versions of Java may apply depending on whether you are using.

The Windows Photo Viewer can open different types of graphic files, what is the problem?

I resized the partition and delete windows 7 recovery disc, and now I need to reinstall because of disk problems. Please let me know if you are able to copy the disc of recovery for me and put it to a web page that I can download it from. You can make a password to avoid abuses.
I can give you a small donation on paypal.

    Hi spurnymartin,

    > removed windows 7 recovery disk
To be honest that s does not erase. Did you delete the folder in HARD drive recovery or what exactly?

Usually, you can reinstall Windows drive HARD or Toshiba recovery disc.

If you n t have it more, you can order the CD from Toshiba. In my opinion you n t pay twice for the same thing because it s not a Toshiba error.

  • Satellite A100-784 - how can I make another copy of my recovery disc DVD

    Hi all

I have the Satellite A100-784, which comes with Vista Home...
How could I make another copy of the DVD from my recovery disc?

Also, I don't have the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator... is downloadable?

    Hello

You n t have the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator, because this Toshiba Software is preinstalled on laptops equipped with HARD drive recovery option.
I presume that you have received a Toshiba Recovery disk this laptop doesn t allow HARD drive recovery.
Therefore, you cannot create a new DVD of recovery using the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator.

What you could do is to copy the supplied recovery disk.
