Satellite L635-S3030 won't start - flashing cursor

My laptop won't boot! When I turn it on, the Toshiba logo comes then it goes to a black screen with a small white cursor that turns into a smaller white cursor. It won't do anything else!

It just flashes and when I press the power button it turns off. I need help!

How can I get my computer to work?

Hello

I think you're talking about the cursor blinking in the upper left corner. Right?
Well, I can tell you that the blinking cursor is a typical sign of a malfunction of the HARD drive.
I think that your HARD drive is dead, and perhaps that is the reason why the laptop can not boot from the HARD drive.

Solution:
Replace the HARD drive and install the operating system using the recovery disk.

Guarantee is valid? In this case get in touch with Toshiba Asp in your country to get this replaced.

    Hello

    I'm really stuck here,
A few days ago my laptop (Satellite C870D-10 t) began to have problems with its slowness and browsers started to freeze.
Of control of virus then did a chkdisk and then the real problems started.

When I tried to start (recommended), or reboot I get the message starting windows normally when choosing repair startup would start loading windows files then stop after the windows logo and go to a black screen with cursor.
Security modes do not work either.

I must of retries to more than 50 times until I then opted for drive recovery HARD and restore to the factory settings. After I did it I had a similar thing happenend.

Windows first loading of files, windows logo, Assistant recovery: choose language, then the screen with the white cursor black... sometimes I got error F3-F000-0001
Only on one occasion did he go a bit more far but left after the same error message I think.
Restarting the disc also has not worked since the first time I did the HARD drive recovery.

    Hello

I think that the HARD drive is faulty.
The cursor blinking in the upper left corner is a typical sign of a malfunction of the HARD drive.
I recommend you to check the new HARD drive.

Also a problem of RAM may be the reason for these problems, but I recommend check (replace) the HARD drive first.

  • Satellite 1800-100 won't start with new memory

My satellite s1800-100 won't start although my new memory (2nd) module is 128 MB PC100.

I have Samsung samsung K4S281632C-TC1H module as PC100 (128 MB) memory on SLOT 1 by default.

Although all of the features and form factors are clean, why not my Satellite S1800-100 starts? I checked the new (slot 2) memory works fine and tested OK.

So, is there as a possibility to have a problem in the 2 Slot? Or is associated with failure of the BIOS? (there is no more recent BIOS, current is 2.20 for Satellite S1800-100).

I am disappointed. I bought a new 128 MB PC100, to insert it in the slot 2, my Toshiba didn't boou up!.

Important note: if I connect the new memory I bought yesterday, works very well in Slot 1.

    Please help and understanding.

    Kind regards...

    Hello

Well, it very difficult to say why it won't start.
I think that there are several possibilities:

(1.) you used a bad module
(2.) the second Bank of the Board of Directors has a malfunction
(3.) the laptop does not support max 256 MB of RAM

I think that point 1 and 3 is not relevant because you have tested the module and it worked on the first location. Additional the laptop should be able to handle 2 x 256 MB memory, so you should be able to use 2 x 128 MB

I think that the second ram location may have a malfunction.
Please check the second slot with a module of memory.

The second possibility is to use exactly the module which is recommended by Toshiba.
    As I remember it s PC100 128 MB (PA3005U) SDRAM

  • Satellite Pro 2100 won't start at all - LED flash

My SP2100 began to have feeding problems and now won't start at all. The AC adapter green LED is lit, that are relevant lights on the body of the laptop (although the "battery charge" light always orange these days). When I try the switch on, startup begins (in fact succeeded on occasion until this morning), however the battery indicator and the adapter lights are flashing, and everything stops again.

On the rare occasions when I'll be past this stage, lights blinking, and the system soon shuts down again with a screen message "low battery." Until this morning, he would sometimes settle, the computer remained on, and the lights showed a State of equilibrium as usual.

Initially I thought that the problem was of course the battery or the AC adapter, but now I'm starting to think that it is with internal PSU of the laptop (although I suspect the battery is probably tour after all this part of loading and unloading).

    Any ideas?

    Hello

I think you're right. Flashing LEDS are a sign that hardware is defective.
I can't say what exactly is the problem, this should be verified by a technicain.
On the other side I don't know if it's worth to repair such an old machine.

    Hello

My poor mother is quite upset! Its Satellite L30 PSL33E just died.

It completely off and now won't start at all.
Orange light flashes six times when you press the power button.
No hard drive, fan, screen or any other noise / activity.

    She tried without the battery.

A kind of hardware failure, I guess.

Any ideas what this blink code means?

    Thanks in advance,
    D.

I put t know what the code means, but you can read it. short means 0 and 1 long

In any case, the error code means that a hardware failure has been detected on the motherboard and motherboard replacement could help you?
    Why?

because what is really hard to fix a motherboard for laptop very s.
It especially not possible if you n t s have sufficient knowledge, experience, and special tools.

I think that either you contact the ASP in your country and ask a difficulty or you'll have to buy a new laptop ;(

  • Satellite P300-156 won't start or by MAIL

    Hello

I have a Satellite P300-156 I bought a few months as damaged. The screen has been damaged and the case slightly cracked. I replaced the screen and hard drive and main card seems to have no physical damage. I've been running this system for 3 months now without any problem but, today, for some reason, it won't start or even POST. It powers on and the CPU fan starts to turn then stops and does nothing. No display (I tried external). CD player works. No beeps.

I tried reinstalling RAM even open completely and reinstalling all connections, nothing done. Does anyone have an idea what component is gone? (CPU/GPU/RAM)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thank you

Did you update the BIOS or something?
For me, this is a normal behavior when the BIOS chip is faulty.

  • Satellite L300 intermittently won't start not

My Satellite L300 intermittently does not start.

When trendy DC, light power plug is green, when you press power button / stop power light is Orange boots for 3 seconds with fan started done 2 short beeps and then the fan stops and no other shoe.
turn off the DC supply then plug again before may give him another chance.

This can happen up to 20 times, sometimes around 3 or 4 attempts.
When he wants to finally go, pressed power light power button green and all is OK.
    That means the light Orange?

I checked for dust in the fan, used another power supply, tried friends memory and hard drive.

The problem can occur every day, or every day.

I left the battery in case it appeared the problem, the battery will not hold a charge very long.
I would be grateful of any advise

    > That means Orange light?

If power light flashes orange, it indicates the power was cut off, while the computer was in mode 'sleep'.
But in your case I n t think that the laptop enter mode 'sleep' in your case, the power LED flashes means a hardware problem may be detected

    Perhaps your motherboard is affected

  • Satellite L40 - 14N won't start, if I install two 2 GB memory modules

Computer won't start, if I install two modules of 2 gigabytes RAM, I can install vista 64 on this computer to overcome this problem, have updated bios.or is there anything else I can do.it also won't work if I put a 2 and a 1 GB of ram in.

    Any help would be apprecated

    mayala

No, Vista 64 bit will not solve your problem. The fact is that this model of laptop only supports a maximum of 2 GB of Ram in total. For example, you can use one of your 2GB memory module.

If you do so, laptop will start again.

  • Re: Satellite U200-111 won't start and flashes the amber light DC-IN

    Hello!

My wan't to the computer to start and the amber DC-IN led blink 2 times, pause, 3 times, pause, break, 2 times, 1 time...
I think it means the error code 2321. Can someone give me a list of fault codes?
Where can I find a manual for this computer repair?

    Thank you and best regards

Sorry, but these codes are not available on the Toshiba pages
I think that only the authorized service partner may be able to help.

    A few words about this issue;
Still the blink code means that a hardware problem has been detected on the motherboard. Motherboard problems are still serious issues and in my opinion should always be checked by an expert.

Also I doubt you're reading this correctly as a blink code provides still a 1 or a 0. Short means 0 and 1 long. Finally, copy the following code must be set to hexadecimal.

In order to cut short this long history; you need a technician in ASP.

  • Satellite Pro P200 won't start

I have an old 1 week per Satellite Pro P200, it turns off when I was just in the start menu, so I was not doing something out of the norm (power cable is plugged). Since then it just won't turn.

With the connected power cable I have an electric blue, power battery and light (although attempts to restart about 2 the battery light was red, but now blue). The drive light flashes for about 3 seconds each time I try to start and I can hear something happening inside the machine, but after only 3 seconds... nothing, completely dead.

I tried to remove the battery, wait 20 minutes or more and none of it worked. Anyone have any ideas?

Seems to be definitely a hardware problem... very bad :(
Why you visit your dealer for new laptop and ask for Exchange.
Maybe the dealer will exchange the laptop with a new.

If this isn't the case, then you must contact the service provider authorized in your country for assistance.
If you have purchased an extra service on the spot then the technician you will visit at home and will try to solve this problem.

    Good luck

  • Re: Satellite A105 - seeing of power started flashing orange/battery not charging

I have a satellite A105-4054, which gave excellent service. Yesterday, the orange started power light flashing and ceased to charge the battery. I had a second freshly charged battery, that I used instead and the power led still flashes in orange.

I checked the Original Toshiba charger that came with the device, with a voltmeter and it shows 15 volts, which is correct. The laptop starts normally with a freshly charged battery, but it does not load when it is plugged and the power light flashes orange constantly. If I remove the battery and leave the laptop plugged in, continually amber power light flashes and nothing happens (no voltage). I'd be happy to run just the laptop on AC, but it is not possible now

The toshiba power utility system icon, when the laptop is started on the new battery, flushing back and forth between the load and the battery, and the battery does not seem to charge. Previously, the power utility would show current alternative continuously when the unit is connected and the power light stay blue.

I love the laptop, because he rendered services superb and would like to keep. All reasonable solutions, please?

    Thanks guys (and girls)!

On this virtual path, no one can say with certainty what the problem, but after reading your detailed ad, I think there is problem with electronic power supply on the motherboard. Technicians with tools only special diagnostic can say with certainty what the problem is here.

In my opinion there is not a lot you can do about it, and in this case, entire motherboard must be exchanged. If you want to contact the nearest authorized maintainer, explain the situation and I hope that they can tell you more.

  • Satellite A15-S129 won't start CD - message NTLDR missing

I decided to do a new installation on my Satellite A15-S129 neighbors. After trying all sorts of ways, I decided to remove the hard drive and reformat my computer. When I put in the satellite, I expected to boot from the cd since the hard drive was empty, but no, I get the "missing ntldr message.

The Bios does not have the cursor move on the part where I could change the boot order. When I start the computer, I can't press f2 or f12 to change the boot order.

After no luck I just started doing all sorts of things to solve problems. A: I notice if I remove the hard drive and let the empty slot, I get error IDE, and then SURPRISE!
The boot goes to the Conference on disarmament, BUT just at the point where I thought I could just install, I get the screen that says lack of hard drive, even though I pressed and push the HDD.

Why the computer insists on the conduct of one thing: starting from windows xp, even if the disk is the Bank.

Why I can't, or rather, how can he blow up the hard drive and move to the cd drive?

I've never been stumpted like this before! Please help, my neighbour will have my head!

    Hello

It seems that the HARD drive is ok because you were able to access it from another computer.

But a question; How connect you and format the HARD drive internal on another computer?

But to the A15 motorway. It s very strange that you are not able to access the BIOS and that it of not possible to change the boot order. nor by the F2 or F12 key.
But wait this BIOS has been installed on this laptop? Phoenix BIOS or Toshiba?
To access the Phoenix BIOS you need to press "F2", but to access the Toshiba BIOS, you must press ESC then F1.

In any case, due to your description, I guess the hardware malfunction causes this problem.
Maybe a problem of controller, HARD drive or other tiny part of the motherboard does not work

I think that the technician should take a look on this laptop, and maybe he'll find the source of error.

  • Satellite p205-s8811 won't start normally or in safe mode just automatically get a black screen

I started my computer and start the recovery window came. I ran it and it has to solve the problem and computer ran very well. I stopped him and 6 hours more later powered on and the same thing. Startup recovery ran and solved the problem again.  When I looked in the log recovery startup errors he says that there are changes not specified for the configuration of the system. So I decied to do a system restore. The system restore ran, off, rebooted computer and when to start the toshiba system came on the screen. Then went black and never started window. For hard drive light was illuminated as normal, then slowed down, would be possible, and eventually it would flicker just a little more. The screen is black, but you can see the cursor. I pressed the switch to turn on, turn off, wait a little bit. Then turned on and got the screen to start normally, safe mode, safemode promt, European round table. I chose safe mode and it and all the config system starts to roll across the screen, then screen turned black and nothing else happened. So I tried again and chose to start windows normally, but the same thing. Toshiba comes through screen\, hard disk, running, but nothing but a black screen. I don't know if I app\drivers and recovery discs and don't know if it's even the fix. I could really use some help with this. I "ve been out of work for six months due to motorcycle wreck and do not have the funds for the nine. Plese I want to know if it's fixable. Thank you

    Hello

    Method 1:

Access the link below and try to perform a startup repair, which could help us solve the problem.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/925810

    Method 2:

If the problem persists after you complete the Startup Repair, try to perform a system restore.

    un) Insert the installation disc.

    Note

The computer must be configured to start from a CD or a DVD. For more information on the configuration of the computer to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer.

    (b) restart the computer. To do this, click Start, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart.

    Note

If you cannot restart the computer by using this method, use the power button to turn off the computer. Then, turn the computer back on.

    (c) set your preferred language and then click Next.

    Note

In most cases, the Startup Repair process starts automatically, and you do not have to select in the System Recovery Options menu.

    (d) click on repair your computer.

    (e) in the System Recovery Options dialog box, click the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.

    (f) in the System Recovery Options menu, click System Restore.

    (g) in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next

    (h) in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    (i) click Finish.

The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

  • Desktop won't start. flashing green light

I have a 1318NX Compaq Presario SR which will not start!  There is a green light flashing on the back of the power supply; which is normally green 110V AC is plugged into it.  I tried the trick of the Start button while not plugging the power cord... no help.  I also opened the case and carefully got rid of any power cord of all internal devices... the light turns green only when I pull the main power of the motherboard!

I need to replace the motherboard?  Troubleshooting on hp.com site would indicate that the power supply is OK if the light is solid green.

    Thanks for your suggestions,

My wife's computer had the same problem several times. A solution I found that worked before was to unplug the power cable from motherboard and the power supply cable to the back of the PC and then connect the power cable and plug the motherboard power cable while holding down the power button. Scary, to say the least, but it worked, until one day I accidentally spilled the bad circuit breaker and then spend two hours trying the same solution with no luck and the Google search again. And here's what I found. It is the simpler solution even more cruel. It is simple and noninvasive and no matter how tech savvy you are. Take a blow dryer and turn it on to blow air at the rear of the power supply for a few minutes. When you see the light turn green, you're ready. It's worked for me after that it worked for a hundred others, maybe more. A look at the testimonials on this site: http://talk19.wordpress.com/2008/01/13/hp-m7088d-power-supply-led-blinks-green/. It's a shame that nothing like that appears on any site of HP. So don't waste your money on a new MoBo or PSU. All you need is dry hair of your wife.
