Satellite L650-11F - how to access HARD drive recovery?

Hello!

I have a Toshiba Satellite L650-11F.

The other day I had a huge massive Goner virus (lol) and the computer is turned off. Whenever I tried to turn it on, it started to load Windows, and then restart. I tried to start Windows in safe mode but the same thing happened, just keep restarting. I tried to repair Windows (by pressing f8 and etc.) and without success, he kept restarting.

So I tried to put it because it came from fabric and when I press 0 or F1 happears just 2 options: choose an opperating system to start or press tab to select a tool: Windows 7 tools: Windows memory diagnostic

Can you help me please? Is there another way I can access the hidden hard drive recovery partition? Please :(

Hi dakova,.

Ist it Toshiba's original OS is still installed? I ask this question because it of necessary for the recovery of HARD drive. If you have installed another OS, you can access t HARD drive recovery option.
In addition, recovery of HARD drive option is available if you press the F8 key before Windows starts. In the advanced boot menu, select fix my computer. The exact procedure is described here:
http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

Alternative, you can take the Toshiba recovery disc. This will also restore the original settings. :)

  • Satellite A300-1J1 - how to use HARD drive recovery files to install Vista again

I've read the threads that already exist, until anyone there sprang key of course, however I don't see the answers to my questions, so I hope someone can help.

Basically my A300 has been regularly overheating and turning off, and after a recent instance of this, I left it disassembled and cleaned the radiator and the surround carefully.

Unfortunately, reassembly, it became clear that Windows would not start, probably due to some problem caused by the most recent power cut or maybe even within my very careful disassembly?

In any case, Vista does not start, in all modes, either standard, in safe mode or in repair mode. As standard, it screens with a message of error UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME blue etc.

Mode of repair, windows bar logo and green rises, but then it just black screens and no more. Slight variation only I had here, it's that sometimes a white cursor rises, but still a black screen. I left the machine 30 minutes where there was a simple delay, but not... nothing happens, it just hangs.

I have no CD of restoration, because I did not create one, but I was able to access all the files via the platform of Knoppix, and everything seems in order, so important HARD drive corruption seems unlikely.

I see records to get Toshiba HDD and also Windows RE, so my question to you people is as follows; Is it possible that I can use these files that are still in tact to get Vista without buying a disc for £ 30 from Toshiba?

My concern is, I don't see why the supposed recovery integrated does not work given that the associated files still seem present and intact on the disk, and I'm reluctant to lose 30 pounds on something, if it is not guaranteed to work in all cases.

What would you recommend I do?
My files are backed up and whatever is left is not important... I just want to restore my Vista more quickly, more simple, the cheapest possible.

    Hey,.

Unfortunately I think that there is nothing you can do because the files are unnecessary if disk HARD recovery doesn't work because you must be able to access the Windows Advanced Boot menu.

I agree with you, it's not good recovery disc HARD Toshiba doesn't work for you, but you must also understand s your fault if you didn't create the recovery disk as mentioned in the user manual. ;)

So either buy you a new recovery disk or you are using a Microsoft Windows disk to reinstall Windows. All drivers and tools that you can download on the page of Toshiba.

  • Satellite L650-11F - how to connect to LCD via an HDMI cable?

    Hello world

I have the Satellite L650-11F with ATI 5650 and HDMI port and I want to connect the laptop via HDMI lcd screen so that I have some office using 2 * ATI Catalyst * and * software HydraVision, but ATI sites said that Toshiba notebook is not supported (Please check with your mobile phone OEM for support of the drivers for these laptops).

So, how can I connect my laptop to LCD screen to get 2 workstation?

Sorry for my bad English :)

    Hi thebluewriter,

I think you need to check only the other discussions of the forum on the connection for laptop LCD screen. You will find enough about it!

In any case, most recent display driver you can download on the official website of Toshiba, but usually it s preinstalled on your laptop.
If you are using a HDMI cable, use just FN + F5 key combination to switch between monitors. All that s! :)

  • Satellite A300 - how to start HARD drive recovery after own OS insatallation

    Hi guys.

    I have a question.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A300, which came with Windows Vista.
Normally I have the recovery with the normally pre-installed utility partition.
After that I formatted the system partition, I installed a clean and fresh Windows 7 copy.

    My question is this.
Since the recovery partition does not get soiled with, is there not a way to install the disk recovery utility hard back in recovery of Windows of F8 before the boot options?

Please don't tell me that I need to have the recovery disk.
I already did, I just want to find a solution because it is not that hard for someone who accidentally formatted the system partition and had not created the disks, but the recovery partition. My guess is to do some modifications in the files of the Windows recovery environment that are launched when you use the option to repair my computer at startup, because normally, HARD drive recovery utility appears as one of its tools-options.

The problem is that I don't have to where these files are, maybe (C:\boot?)
Currently, I am trying to see if a facility upgrade of windows 7 on windows vista will keep options for hard drive recovery then maybe I will find what it takes.

    All suggestions are welcome!
    Thank you for your time.

OK, just a hint more, I found what is happening with the recovery environment, and which must be replaced to include more tools...
    This article was really helpful:

  • Satellite T130 - how to start HARD drive recovery?

    Hello

Windows 7 was not working properly and I tried to reinstall. However, after the installation, it starts but it does not complete the process and maintains the pc shut down before I could use it. I can now use it just because I installed Ubuntu and I can also access all other partitions of Ubuntu, one that contains the HDD Recovery folder.

Can I reinstall windows from this folder?

I see that someone else already managed, using stormwater management files as the link below shows

    Thank you

    Hello

You are still able to access the start menu in Windows or Ubuntu installation has been removed and the Windows boot loader?
If so, you are not able to start the HARD drive recovery more

Why? It is very easy: even if you are able to access the files, you can start this feature because the original Windows Start menu of the preinstalled Windows system is necessary to start the HARD drive recovery feature.
So in this case, you need the recovery media (USB key) that you created using Toshiba recovery media creator.

Of course, this could work without installed Windows, but there is no guarantee for this.

But why I m telling you this information? You can find everything in your owner's manual ;)

  • Satellite L350D-21 problems using new HARD drive recovery recovery disks

    Hello

I have laptop SATELLITE L350D-212 with windows 7 Home premium OA.
He started to complain that there is something wrong with the hard drive so I went and bought another hard drive of the same size.

I created the recovery disk when the computer was purchased and have backup of all the data in an external hard drive.

After I changed the new hard drive to the laptop and tried to boot from the recovery disc, nothing happens eventhoug I can see it seems to be all Ok with the disc.

Any ideas on how to get to run to the new hard drive recovery?

I have the old hard drive attached as external drive via the USB port, but cannot boot from that too. It just stops at a certain point and told to stop.

    Hello

Usually, the recovery disk must format the new HARD drive but I recommend you to join the new HARD drive as an external device to another computer and format the new HARD drive before trying to recover the laptop.

Once the HARD drive has been formatted, connect it to the L350D and boot from the recovery disc

    Good luck

  • Satellite T130 - failed to restart after HARD drive recovery

    Hello

I used the Toshiba HDD Recovery tool for reinstall windows 7 on a recovery partition. Everything went well until the end when the pc restarted and would not restart. So now that I'm stuck, I can't access f8 more.

    Any suggestion?

    Thank you

    Andrea love

    Hello

And what exactly is happening now? You have a black screen?

To me that sounds like it, something goes wrong in the installation of HARD drive recovery then I recommend reinstall Windows again since the middle of recovery that you created on USB or external CD/DVD drive. This can restore Windows again.

Theoretically, it could also be a hardware problem but I would try the middle of recovery recovery facility that s my personal opinion. ;)

  • Satellite L350D - 213 Desktop gel after HARD drive recovery

    Hello

I'm trying to help a damsel in distress. Its Satellite L350D-213 would not start. Although I could boot mode safe, that's all I could do. I tried to save all its data, but could not do it anymore. I did a HARD drive recovery and everything seems OK until I started as usual, but when I tried to open programs and they did not open. Finally, I called for a Shut Down. It took more than 10 minutes.

I restarted in Mode safe mode and tried to open the pre installed on the desktop programs and there seems to be no problem. Closing together took 13 seconds.

Tried rebooting as normal and the same problem occurred.

I just feel that one of the system files is corrupted. More likely I'm wrong, so is there anyone out there that can advise?

    Thank you

    Stokkers

It is not easy to say what the problem is here. The programs that you try to start?
Corrupted files? I don t think so. You have installed the own recovery image and if there is a corrupted file even should arrive as soon as the first day.

Start your laptop and enter the BIOS settings, set the default value and reinstall the recovery image.
Configure Windows and wait for the operating system to start successfully. Don t connect the laptop to the internet and check again. Don t connect some external devices.
What you can try is to open the Task Manager and see if there is a background activity which needs a lot of CPU usage. You can try to stop it.
You can try to disable some applications at startup.

    Play a little with it.
There must be a logical explanation why this happens.

I'm looking for what type of reader is installed? (IDE/SATA, etc.)

    Thank you
    Ian

    Hi ian5184_1,

If you check the specifications of your book, you can check what HARD drive is built in or you have a look in your user manual.

On the first few pages, you will find all the information on the material, and there is a HARD drive with Serial ATA interface built in.

If you think about upgrading the HARD drive, you can buy each 2.5 HARD drive SATA interface. On this interface, there is no limit of capacity. :)

  • Satellite A300 - 21 H - cannot start HARD drive recovery

My daughter dropped the laptop. Now, I get a blue screen that says I need to press F8 to start the recovery process. But when I press F8 nothing happens... Any ideas? I would really appreciate any comments.

    > My daughter dropped the phone. Now, I get a blue screen that says I need to press F8 to start the recovery process. But when I > press F8 nothing happens.

According to me, that there is still something wrong with the hard drive after release. You can enter the Bios (f2 at startup) to check if the hard drive recognized. You can see on the main page or startup option.

  • Satellite L650-11F: where are the backup information stored on the HARD drive

    Hello.

My original Toshiba HDD is a failure and I had to replace it with a new one. I haven't had any recovery DVDs until Windows stopped booting and try to avoid buying one.

I thought that I copy just my recovery Partition and the master boot record on the new HARD drive which worked well. However I find that this hidden restore partition has only 400 MB and so cannot possibly contain all the necessary information to restore the system.

I have boot from it, but I don't get any options to restore the default settings. It scans only for problems with Windows, runs a few tests on my records and presents me with advanced options that I can't go because I'm not connected.

I went searching all about and know that ELSEWHERE THE PARTITION RECOVERY that you still need your Windows partition for recovery work.

It seems just really stupid because most people will try to restore their default values after damage to their windows (deleted files accidentally or whatever).

What is the point of keeping a partition hidden with just enough to Prime the system, but then require that certain parts of their partition original windows remains intact in order to restore?

What I'm trying to know is exactelly what part (files) do I need to restore my computer. I tried to copy the Windows partition on the new disk but its too damaged and he'll take it apart if I try to copy some files or to copy directly (using linux dd or ddrescue).

I am able to copy some of the unique files, so with little chance I might be able to copy everything that I need. I can't copy the part of the Windows folder however.

So any1 know where the backup information is stored or has other ideas?

Thank you in advance and please excuse my bad English.

    Hello

At first, I must say that your biggest mistake was not not to create recovery discs. With these discs you didn t now have a stupid problem.
Anyway, in my opinion, only option for you is now buy original Toshiba Recovery disk and install Recovery on the new HARD disk image.

I put t know how to start the discussion with you and try to offer some answers. Is Toshiba doesn t create recovery CD/DVDs more and original recovery image is saved on the HARD drive. At first he was saved on the second partition of HARD drive and visible for laptop owners. Many people have deleted and do some experiments with these files for recovery. Later after the screwing up of most of them wondered why the recovery installation doesn t work anymore and blaming Toshiba for non-working HARD drive recovery facility.

You need to just check this forum and see how many comments you can find here all this.

I think that was the reason why Toshiba has decided to save this image on a hidden partition to avoid such things. Please note that this image of hidden recovery is designed for your laptop only and can be used if your laptop has the factory settings. Any type of change may result with missing option to start the installation of HARD drive recovery.

Problem is that people don't read the operating manuals and don t understand how it works. To avoid any situation where the installation of the HARD disk can't start or failure HARD disk Toshiba strictly recommended recovery DVD creation. I m wondering really you didn't create these disks.

At this point, I would like to repeat what I think: you will not be able to do anything, except by using the original installation disc of recovery. To be honest, it is cheap and costs 30 euros. Don t waste your time to play, buy, install the OS, and be happy.

    Bye and good luck
