  Yes, you can install Win xp on this laptop, but you will need to use the drivers for Win XP 64-bit.

  European driver Toshiba page provides accurate drivers for 32it version, so you have to collect drivers 64-bit with your own hands...

  But to be honest; I do not recommend using Win XP 64 bit... either you choose 32 bit or Win 7 64 bit.

  Win XP 64 bit was not so popular as the 32-bit version and most of the applications and the software is compatible with the 32-bit version.

  There are some common steps that should be made on the one hand;
  -test new graphics driver
  -updated the BIOS to the latest version
  -recover the laptop to factory settings

  If the lines are still visible, you must connect an external display.
  If the lines would be visible also on the external monitor, the graphics card can be affected.

  In this case, the part needs to be replaced.

  If you are using a router/cable modem, then you don't need to dial the modem conexant. If you are asked for the driver, then you can either install the driver or, if you want to get rid of the quite conextant modem you can remove the material completely, assuming you know how to do this. Of course, you will have to open your case and remove the conextant modem. For this I guess you have a desktop PC. A laptop would be more difficult to remove the conexant modem, unless the modem is a stand alone.

  You give no details as to your problem of not being able to install Windows 7. More information will be required before anyone can really help you with this problem. An idea of what is happenning when you try to install windows 7 and error messages would be useful; What version of Windows 7 and whether retail or OEM. By the way if you try to install an OEM copy from another PC on your computer then you will obviously have problems like the copy so attached to the first PC OEM installed on the byt the PC manufacturer.

  I've seen a few topics about this, but I still can't solve my problems. I have brand new Toshiba Satellite L650 14th but I can't seem to use my WiFi.

  The problem is that the system does not recognize, even in the Device Manager there is nothing. I downloaded the driver from the toshiba site, but when I run it nothing happens. I also tried the BIOS update and install the package of added value, but still nothing. Also, someone mentioned editing tool of Network Device ID registry settings, I downloaded that too, but when I run also nothing happens. I did a lot of research and could not find the solution or the driver work.
  Furthermore, I have windows 7 64 bit.

  Any ideas? I really need wifi, my started classes two weeks ago and no internet at home, I can't do anything useful. Thank you.

  If the system doesn't recognize the WLAN card, it seems to be disabled.

  You should check the key combination FN + F8 which can enable/disable the WLAN connection.
  In addition on some laptops you can toggle the wireless LAN in the BIOS.

  At first, I must say that the cooling system is not strange. One thing is confusing background of s for laptop computer plastic box. This plastic box is the same for many models of laptop computers, and these models have different cooling systems. Some of them needs cold air (down-hole), and some of them, like mine A660 have no holes on this place.

  Are you looking for the drivers for Windows Server 2003?
  Well, I think you will find all the drivers Win Server 2003 because this drivers don t exist.

  Win Server 2003 operating system was designed based on windows XP.
  So usually the drivers Win XP should work!

  Furthermore, as you are probably aware that the Win Server 2003 operating system is not supported by Toshiba you need to search on sites of third 3rd ATI graphic driver.

  Maybe a site www.omegadrivers.net might help you.

  But note; 3 third party drivers can be installed ONLY at your own RISK! Why?
  Because these drivers have not been tested and so no one can tell if the laptop will run stable and will work properly after installing these drivers.

For a European model to support European page but if you have a Canadian model laptop please visit Toshiba Canada support page and try to find your laptop model and all the drivers available for Windows XP Home edition.

  So either search only or we say what country you purchased your laptop.

• Satellite L650 - 1MC Windows doesn't recognize RAM but BIOS is...

  My laptop has the following memory configuration:

  1 x Samsung 2 Gb module (which was the original module supplied with the notebook)
  1 x Kingston 4 GB module

  The BIOS recognizes all of the 6 GB, it says ' total memory size: 6144 MB '

  However, Windows 7 (home premium 64-bit) "6.00 GB (2.0 GB usable)"

  I have been told it is perhaps down to a serious virus - I did a complete analysis of the MSE, that is something of which I removed, however it says that 2 GB of RAM is usable.

  I tried to go into msconfig/startup/advanced and change the maximum memory of 2048 to 6144, but this just changes again in 2048 Mb.

  I would be really really grateful for any help with this.
