Satellite L650 - blue screen - driver_irql_not_less_or_equal iastor.sys

Toshiba Satellite L650, Windows 7, Intel Core i3 processor.
My computer suddenly restarted and I get a blue screen with a message - 'iastor.sys' does not.

Anyone encountered before?
How can it be resolved?

-Earlence

iastor.sys seems belongs to the SATA/controller HARD disk controller.
Eventually he deliver s HARD drive.
However, you can try to reinstall the Storage Manager Intel because this package contains this file.

If this is not enough, try to restore the system using the recovery disc or HARD drive recovery...
Take a look in the manual mode for more details...

    This could be the cause?

    Cause

A driver tried to access a pageable (or that is completely invalid) address while the IRQL was too high.

This bug check is usually caused by drivers who used a wrong address.

If the first parameter has the same value as the fourth parameter, and the third parameter indicates a runtime operation, this bug check was probably caused by a driver who was trying to run code when the code itself has been paginated outside. The possible causes for the error page are:

    • The function was marked as pageable and was operating at an IRQL higher (including obtaining a lock).
    • The function call was made to a function in another pilot, and that this driver has been unloaded.
    • The function was called by using a function pointer that was an invalid pointer.

    Hi JohnMidds,

I suggest that you start the computer in safe mode with networking and subsequently run an online virus scan to make sure that the computer is free from any infection, check if the computer always freezes in normal mode.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

You can also use Microsoft Security databases to scan your computer

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/PC-security/MSE.aspx

If the computer always freezes in normal mode, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

It can be assumed that the problem may be, but the best test you can do is to put the laptop to factory settings again. Recovery image has been tested and if there is not some hardware problem everything should work properly again.

    Hello

    BSOD is always a painful question because it may be related to different reasons;
It may be a hardware problem, but it can also be a serious software problem.
So it's not easy to tell what exactly causes this

I got a BSOD in the past, because my RAM was faulty.
I have replaced and since it s ok.

Friend of mine had a BSOD problem too. It was caused by the graphics driver.
Updating the graphics card driver helped.

The high temperature may be one more reason to check if the temperature is not too high.

The new installation of the OS might be an option too, but it's your own decision

    Hello

BSOD (blue screen of death) is primarily a result of software or hardware problems.
It could be a software compatibility issue or just one of the hardware components (RAM, motherboard) could be faulty.

I found some info on the BSOD * BCCode: 3B *.

    + Bug Check 0x3B: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION +.
    + Bug SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION control has a value of 0x0000003B. +
+ Which indicates that an exception happened during execution of a routine that passes from non-preferred to the privileged code code. +

    _Cause_
+ This error has been linked to the excessive use of expanded memory and resulting from user mode graphics drivers enjambment and passing data incorrect of the kernel code. +

So, it seems that 0x3B errors are usually caused by a defective video card drivers.
