Satellite L650 - eSATA port works not
Hello
I am owner of a [Toshiba Satellite L650-14F | http://se.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/ro/product/Satellite-L650-14E/1086065/] laptop that is running 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate.
I recently acquired a [ICY BOX IB-319StUS2-B | http://www.raidsonic.de/en/products/external-cases.php?we_objectID=6831] drive enclosure external HARD who takes in charge the SATA II 3.5 "hard drives and can be connected to the computer via USB 2.0 or eSATA.
I use it with a Samsung SpinPoint F3 1 TB HARD drive. The problem is that I can't get the eSATA port to work. I enable in the BIOS, SATA interface is defined on the performance and the AHCI mode. I installed the latest Intel drivers for the SATA controller and eSATA, as well as the software Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST). If I connect to the enclosure via eSATA, that nothing is happening. Intel RST makes external SATA port as empty and no drive appears in Device Manager in Windows.
The drive works properly by the USB bus and even via USB in the eSATA port, because it is a port eSATA/USB combo.
At first I thought it was a faulty box or cable eSATA, with which it came, so I returned it and got a new. However, after seeing that the new behaves exactly like the one I started wondering if there isn't a problem with the hardware with the laptop. I started searching the Internet for similar behavior. I met a lot of reports of external hard drives not recognized on eSATA in Windows 7 64 bit, but work fine on XP or Windows 7 32-bit, especially with 1 TB drives and more.
I've also seen a few similar reports with eSATA on Toshiba laptops on this forum. I'm not really sure how to proceed in this case, or what can I do else except for the installation of Windows XP and Windows 7 32-bit to see if it works there. But even if it works, this still does not resolve my problem. I don't want to go back to XP, and I would not like to use Windows 7 32 bit on a system with 4 GB of RAM.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated and as I open this thread for other people in similar situations to contribute their experiences. What worked and what didn't.
Thanks for the comments.

Satellite 1800: USB Port does not allow the IPod to work
Hello
I have a portable Satellite 1800-314
I bought a new IPod.
When I connect it to the laptop, it does not work.
There is a message that says: we need more speed into the USB port and it seems that the port is not the right one for the IPod.Do I have to update the Bios as well?
I need a big help!
Thank you
Stef
Hello
As far as I know the Satellite 1800-314 uses USB version 1.1.
It seems that your IPod needs a high performance USB (Version 2.0)
Unfortunately, the BIOS update help doesn t. You can change t the USB 1.1 to USB 2.0.
I think that the only way to connect the IPod is to use the PCMCIA card.Good bye

Satellite A10: RGB Port is not installed - can not use external display
Satellite A10 the RGB PORT is not installed & cannot be used as external display. I tried to install the communication or COM 1. interrupt code. What are the possible solutions?
Hello
What did you mean by "not installed"?
Generally, you don't need to install anything. You don't need any drivers for this port 3.
Windows XP drivers should work properly. Please check device manager if there are errors or yellow exclamation points.
If the problem occurs for a short time, you can try to use the WinXP restore tool.
This tool will reduce the BONE until the start. -
Satellite L650-0ED - ports external monitor and turn off WiFi
Hey,.
1. I have a Satellite L650/0ED, I was wondering if the HDMI and the external monitor port start when starting and if they cause the start time of the laptop to be slower. If they do slow down the start how disable them you using Device Manager, since I looked, I tried to disable the Device Manager; but I can't find them anywhere on the list of devices.
They have a special code name or something?2. based on my understanding, the manual of instruction/userguide Toshiba mentions if I press FN + F8 it turns off the wireless amber light but this is not the case, since the amber wireless is still or not. I have the wireless active or disabled.
It say it's so I have the wireless off of amber or the - Orange must be turned off when I press FN + F8 and is not, why is this?Thank you
Hey Buddy,
1. No, they cause t a slower start. He doesn't know me and as long as I know it of not possible to disable the ports in the BIOS. Then n t you worry about this, even, you have connected external screens, boot time is the same.
2. Yes, usually you can activate the WLAN functionality by using the FN + F8 key combination.
I put t have the laptop in front of me, but normally if you don t have a hardware wireless switch, you can disable the wireless network adapter in the BIOS. Just put permits for disabled people and that should be all! :) -
Satellite L650-14F - system does not have WiFi
Hi all
I've seen a few topics about this, but I still can't solve my problems. I have brand new Toshiba Satellite L650 14th but I can't seem to use my WiFi.
The problem is that the system does not recognize, even in the Device Manager there is nothing. I downloaded the driver from the toshiba site, but when I run it nothing happens. I also tried the BIOS update and install the package of added value, but still nothing. Also, someone mentioned editing tool of Network Device ID registry settings, I downloaded that too, but when I run also nothing happens. I did a lot of research and could not find the solution or the driver work.
Furthermore, I have windows 7 64 bit.Any ideas? I really need wifi, my started classes two weeks ago and no internet at home, I can't do anything useful. Thank you.
Hey Buddy,
If the system doesn't recognize the WLAN card, it seems to be disabled.
You should check the key combination FN + F8 which can enable/disable the WLAN connection.
In addition on some laptops you can toggle the wireless LAN in the BIOS.Check this box!

the headset I tried to work on any other device, but not this laptop. even, the lap top does not record that the headphones are connected. I tried all the stuff I saw this site to recommend. None of this has worked. This is a fairly old laptop, and this has been a problem that has persisted.
Hi Ncleknt,
1 when was the last time it was working fine?
2. the internal speakers work well?
3. did you of recent changes on the computer?
I suggest that you connect other headphones to the port and check if it works.
If using the internal speakers, then the ports do not work and you will need to get in touch with the laptop manufacturer for assistance.

Help, please.
Hi alwayseric,
What operating system do you use?
Have you checked for yellow exclamation marks Device Manager?
If you connect USB devices to the normal USB port it works?I would recommend a chipset driver. It's worth a try, and you can download it here:

Equium A300D - 16 c: USB/eSATA port does not work after disasembling
Hi all
I have the above machine which worked very well, so quite extraordinarily hot.
I decided to open it and clean the dust, etc. of radiator and nowhere else that had gathered inside the case. All good, I thought...However, when reassembling it, 2 usb ports left (including one combined USB and eSATA) have stopped working!
I could understand if it were those on the right who are on a daughter card, (for example if I forgot the cable), but they are part of the motherboard. I checked by plugging in various devices that work in good, but not the left.
Check between the + and - ports with a multimeter, I get ~ 5V from the right and nothing from the left, even if at some point, I register 0.3V.
I tried the network port that is correct, but cannot test the eSATA part as I have nothing to connect.Anyone has any idea what this could be?
Thanks in advance!

> Control between the + and - ports with a multimeter, I get ~ 5V from the right and nothing in the left
This means that there is no power on led USB port.
To be honest, I have no idea what you did during the computer laptop disassembly procedure but it seems that damage you something on the motherboard.
For me, it is a plausible explanation.Just a tip; check if eSATA is enabled in the BIOS.

Satellite R830 - HDMI port does not work
Hello
Is there a driver for the HDMI for the Satellite R830 port?
It is no longer connects to a TV.I tried different TV but still nothing.
Also there is no HDMI in under the control panel Device Manager, should there be?Thank you very much for any help or advice.
Hello
I put t know what Windows system that you use on this laptop, but the driver HDMI isn't available from the HDMI port driver is part of the system and should be recognized automatically.Capacity Audio HDMI you need to install the right audio driver and should allow this in Control Panel-> sound-> playback device
HDMI (digital out) would be not listed there, right click and choose:
Show devices disabled, view hidden devices.Usually the HDMI connection isn t very delicate. Everything should run automatically.
Connect both devices with a HDMI cable.
Turn on the TV, then the computer.
Now, use the exit function FN (key) video combination in order to get to the video (HDMI).Note: the correct HDMI channel must be selected on your TV

Hello
You can try to refresh the USB ports and the controllers that appear in Device Manager.
Disconnect all USB devices and go to Device Manager.
Here, expand USB area controllers.
Now delete all USB host controllers and hubs root USB in the list.
After this reboot of the laptop.
Finally, the Windows operating system should start and should recognise all USB devices once again. Now connect a USB mouse and check if you can use it. -
Satellite L750D - USB Ports do not work
Hello
a couple of days all three of my USB ports stopped working.
I tried several USB devices and none make their appearance as being connected at all (check start > computer > devices with removable storage).
The two on the right side of the laptop have never really worked systematically earlier and there again, but the left hand, we worked more or less all the time.
If anyone can help that would be great
Thank youHello
Have you tried to remove and reinstall the USB host controller driver in the past?
If this isn't it.Go to Device Manager and expand the controllers Universal serial bus tree
Here, the Generic USB hub and the USB universal host controller.
Delete all of these devices from the list of devices and reboot the laptop.Usually once the system has booted, all devices removal must be found and resettled automatically. Wait until the end of this procedure and connect the USB device (ie the USB mouse) to USB port just to check the functionality.

You need to remove the upper and lower registry filters.
But before doing so, please remove the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager. Then start the registry (regedit) and then remove the filters above and below this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Then restart the laptop
