Satellite L650 - extremely slow at startup, then "not responding" message

I bought my Toshiba Satellite L650/017 laptop about 3 weeks ago and it was working well.

This week, I plugged a cable to work on my laptop and double clicked on the icon of Internet Explorer to see if I had access to him but found it is not the case then disconnected the cable and turned off the laptop computer on the internal internet.

The next day, I found that the laptop could not start after restarting it a couple of times so I ran on safe mode and did a virus check which proved to be negative.

The next day, start seemed a bit faster and I could access some of my Word documents stored on the hard drive.

Today, problems with the start seemed even worse and it took about 10-15 minutes to access the WINDOWS page - mainly get a gray screen with cursor work dark.

When she has finally reached the office page after trying to open any application after a few minutes, a message "not responding".

How can I fix? What is initially to run so slowly?
He doesn't has only few Word documents stored there on the hard disk. I hope someone can help me with this...

Hey Buddy,

To be honest in these cases where the error just sometimes, it s not clear what part is defective or if it s just a software problem. In addition you didn t post information on your Windows installation, which makes more complicated history.

But if I understand you correctly, you can boot into safe mode without problems, right? Well, that would mean he s a driver or software issue because in safe mode no drivers will be loaded (just the standard Windows drivers).

If you run the pre-installed Windows version, you should try to reinstall Windows from the HARD drive recovery function. You know about it?
If this is not the case, see your user manual. A lot of information, you can find on this nice feature. :)

Method 2

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

• Satellite L650 - frozen at Windows startup

Hello. I have a Satellite L650.

When I start the laptop, I get a problem that, when I load any application, the window opens but I can't perform an action within this window - it is essentially frozen.

No work of menu options and I cannot close the window.

If I wait long enough - an hour or two - or if I open the Windows Task Manager, and then the application windows become frozen and applications operate more or less as usual.
This problem started two weeks ago.

Can anyone suggest what may be the cause, and what I should do to solve the problem?

There is an exception to the application works as usual - Audacity does not work.
Can I open an Audacity project and view the recording, but if I select 'Play', the window crashes again.
Or it will record new audio tracks.

It of difficult to say about the reason why the system hangs.
It could be a problem of general system; the system could be confused to the top and used new facility or laptop system recovery would solve these problems in the system.

On the other hand, it might be possible that one of the mobile parts like HARD drive or maybe RAM module malfunctions.

My recommendation:
Back up important data and recover the laptop.
In case this is not enough, follow with RAM and HARD disk check. Of course in this case to perform troubleshooting, good parts of work would be necessary

• Satellite A30 extremely slow for about 2 months now

Hi I need help, my A30, I bought about 2.5 years ago was extremely slow for about 2 months now. I only use it at home, and as such, I don't have a lot of programs loaded on it.

What could be making it so slow and what can I improve performance.

Hello

The first thing to do is start the Utility Manager tasks (right click on the task bar) and check what you have running, as well as the process what CPU they use. For a standard installation of Windows XP I would expect to see about process assets of 40-50 but only 1 or 2% of CPU. Stop every process that you don't want especially if they use a lot of CPU.

Then, run a analysis suitable anit-virus and also a scan of Malware (Adaware and Spybot) and clean everything they find your system.

Finally, run a cleaning disc, followed by a Disk Defragmenter (both in the Accessories/System Tools menu).

Kind regards

• Satellite L650 - black on the monitor is not 100% black

Hello
first sorry my English is not good at 100%, but I'll try my best.

I have a new Toshiba Satellite L650 and I see a little problem of color on the screen. When I turn on the computer, when the lights to light up the screen, black is not 100% black, its more like dark blue, not a lot, but I can see the diference. When comes to windows 7 still have same problem of color issue. I tried to calibrate colors, but they all up looks normal to me because I have to another (older) Toshiba and the colors are great, very good.

I've updated the bios and graphics of the main card and still no improvement. I tried also calibrate the colors in the main graphics tools (ATI) and the problem persists. In addition, in games, the color doesn't seem 100% good.
Can we say its problem of monitor?

Hi, Flip,

I put t know if it s a monitor problem or not, but you should test an external monitor to your laptop computer. In order to check if it s associated with internal monitor or not.

In the settings of the display driver, you can adjust the colors. You need to test it with the default settings, instead all colors maximum.

> I tried to insert my 2nd recovery disk into another laptop and it reads.
How to understand this? If you put in another computer and check the contents in Windows Explorer, maybe it's readable, but this disc is for use of facilities.

You created those discs?
Do you use them for the first time?

Normally, when you start installation of recovery first disc is copied and when the copy is complete, you will see message to the second recovery disk in the optical disc drive. Put the second and confirm by clicking OK.

Hey there,

Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded: run DriverView - set
SEE drivers to hide Microsoft - update those with Dump in their names. (Also
updated the BIOS and drivers from the chipset on the site of the constructor/the system motherboard).

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded
on your system. For each driver in the list, additional useful information is
Poster: load address of the driver, description, version, product name,.
company that created the driver and more.
http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit Maker as replacements and system manufacturer of device which are
the most recent. Control Panel - write - graphics card - device manager
the brand and complete model of your video card - double click - tab of the driver-
Note the version information. Now click on UPdate Driver (this can do nothing
MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard
If there are 3rd party with their own software and drivers and the other main device drivers
you have.

Now, go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restore)
and site (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get the manufacturer and device
their latest versions. (Look for the system to update the BIOS, Chipset and software updates
Site of the manufacturer here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN -.
REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you are
installation actually appears. This is because that some rollback of drivers before the
later is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so install a driver - reboot.
Make sure that it is installed and repeat if necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW to the device makers DO NOT RUN THEIR
SCANNER - check manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using
the above methods is preferable to ensure the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system
and device manufacturers are located)
http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable driver facilities
in the updates of Windows, which leaves on Windows updates, but it will not be installed
pilots who are generally older and cause problems. If updates provides a new
driver then hide it (right click on it) and then go get new ones manually if
you want.

• Satellite Pro L450D black screen and will not respond to any keys

Hello

My niece has used his Toshiba L450D for almost a year now and he really liked it, who was until last month. She turned on her laptop and when she presses the button of the mouse, the button cracked and he fell into the laptop.

Now my brother contacted Toshiba and I was told because it is under warranty it might return for repair because it was a common fault. Then he he packed in loads of air bubbles and a box to make sure it was safe.

A few weeks later he came back repaired but we were all shocked that the laptop was put in a very loose box and you could hear this rattling noise. When we turned on the battery was flat and we had a new boot menu.

As she installed it Windows 7 laptop would boot directly into Windows 7, but now after the repair of the laptop shows a menu black screen with as follows:

+ Windows 7 +.
+ Recover Windows to Factory Settings [active EMS] +.

So we started in Windows and everything went well, but now after 5 or 10 or even 20 minutes, laptop displays a black screen and will not respond to keys or mouse movement. There is nothing on the screen its just black.

I started in SafeMode (which was more difficult with the new menu) and it does the same thing. I even managed to do a virus scan quick who took 3-4 minutes and was clean.

I would like some advice on what my niece is very angry, and it's difficult to explain what is happening to a child in the primary school.

Any help would be grateful.

Hello

These lines on the screen indicate graphics card problem.
Try testing with external monitor? If the same image that you will certainly know the graphics card is defective.

Anyway, these two questions are for me serious enough and best thing you can do is to contact the nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer.

• "Not responding" message at the beginning upward. SOLVED by the creation of a new identity & import the messages from the old to the new.

This only happens on one of my identities, the rest seems to agree...

After some time (about 10 min.), he will finally do something but, after a few clicks he strikes again.

While I appreciated the responses, I have completely abandoned after my last post that with the two security modes by running this identity still did not...
