Satellite L650 - frozen at Windows startup

Hello. I have a Satellite L650.

When I start the laptop, I get a problem that, when I load any application, the window opens but I can't perform an action within this window - it is essentially frozen.

No work of menu options and I cannot close the window.

If I wait long enough - an hour or two - or if I open the Windows Task Manager, and then the application windows become frozen and applications operate more or less as usual.
This problem started two weeks ago.

Can anyone suggest what may be the cause, and what I should do to solve the problem?

There is an exception to the application works as usual - Audacity does not work.
Can I open an Audacity project and view the recording, but if I select 'Play', the window crashes again.
Or it will record new audio tracks.

It of difficult to say about the reason why the system hangs.
It could be a problem of general system; the system could be confused to the top and used new facility or laptop system recovery would solve these problems in the system.

On the other hand, it might be possible that one of the mobile parts like HARD drive or maybe RAM module malfunctions.

My recommendation:
Back up important data and recover the laptop.
In case this is not enough, follow with RAM and HARD disk check. Of course in this case to perform troubleshooting, good parts of work would be necessary

  • Satellite L650 - upgrade from Windows 7 Home Professional

    Hello

I have the Satellite L650 - 15G with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium edition. Due to some limitations of this OS, I want to upgrade to Windows 7 professional since I am in Dubai, WAU is not available for me. I called Microsoft and they said I have to get through retailers.

My query is, is it all Toshiba support available in the UNITED Arab Emirates, to upgrade the operating system? Toshiba allow the upgrade through the channel of the where I bought my laptop?

    Microsoft is not good!

    Hello

As much as I know there no support for Toshiba to upgrade the operating system. Only the preinstalled OS will be supported, and some models are available with different versions of Windows.

In any case, I think that Microsoft is right and you will need to purchase a Windows 7 upgrade disk. Using this disk, you can start the upgrade. This should be possible without new installation so that all programs and data will not be erased.

  • Satellite L650 - extremely slow at startup, then "not responding" message

I bought my Toshiba Satellite L650/017 laptop about 3 weeks ago and it was working well.

This week, I plugged a cable to work on my laptop and double clicked on the icon of Internet Explorer to see if I had access to him but found it is not the case then disconnected the cable and turned off the laptop computer on the internal internet.

The next day, I found that the laptop could not start after restarting it a couple of times so I ran on safe mode and did a virus check which proved to be negative.

The next day, start seemed a bit faster and I could access some of my Word documents stored on the hard drive.

Today, problems with the start seemed even worse and it took about 10-15 minutes to access the WINDOWS page - mainly get a gray screen with cursor work dark.

When she has finally reached the office page after trying to open any application after a few minutes, a message "not responding".

How can I fix? What is initially to run so slowly?
He doesn't has only few Word documents stored there on the hard disk. I hope someone can help me with this...

    Hey Buddy,

To be honest in these cases where the error just sometimes, it s not clear what part is defective or if it s just a software problem. In addition you didn t post information on your Windows installation, which makes more complicated history.

But if I understand you correctly, you can boot into safe mode without problems, right? Well, that would mean he s a driver or software issue because in safe mode no drivers will be loaded (just the standard Windows drivers).

If you run the pre-installed Windows version, you should try to reinstall Windows from the HARD drive recovery function. You know about it?
If this is not the case, see your user manual. A lot of information, you can find on this nice feature. :)

  • Satellite L650 - 11R - missing Windows 7 DVD

    Hello

    I bought a new L650 TOSHIBA SATELLITE-11R computer yesterday.
    It has Windows 7.

I don't have the original DVD of the program Windows 7.

I want to install Linux also.

That's why I need to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows 7.

I want Windows and Linux of Fedora Core.

How can I get the original DVD of Windows 7?

    Your help is very appreciated.

I can't explain you all tell me but as the first have you checked s user guides document perhaps?
I mean everything is described on the inside and you can pick up info how it works with the installation of the operating system.

You must create this one recovery disc but it isn't DVD Win7 but just image of recovery designed for your laptop model.
Do not install Linux before you created this record.

    Be careful with this.

  • Satellite Pro A300-28R - Windows startup with a wrong display resolution

OK so I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300-28R with Windows 7 64 bit and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 graphics card.

Recently, I have connected my laptop to a TV using the S-video connection. It worked well. The problem is that since then, and every time I start my laptop Windows starts with S-video of 600 x 800 display resolution.

I tried changing the settings in the Panel and using the ATI CCC, having once selected and applied these settings, but whenever Windows starts now it starts with the above display resolution.

As a result, I've also uninstalled and reinstalled my display driver both package Toshiba value added but the same problem persists. I searched with Google about this problem and have not been able to find something useful.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi dude

How did you produce the video signal?
Did you choose Office expanded or all simply the option external monitor by using the FN + F5?

I think that you need to press once more the Fn + F5 and should switch to a view, internal laptop display.

Please check if this could help you!

  • Satellite U - crashes during windows startup and restore cannot fix

Most of the time, but not whenever the laptop hangs when starting windows.
I get a blue screen, a dump file is created and then it restarts and gives me the ability to start windows normally or by using windows recovery. The windows recovery can not solve the problem.

When I select the option to open windows normally everything works fine without any problems.

If I restart the laptop, it will never block.
The problem happens about 90% of the time when he walks.

The problem started shortly after the purchase of the laptop in October.
Initially, it came with Windows Vista and I was wondering if the problem was with Vista so steeple I've upgraded to Windows 7, but it always freezes on most start-ups. Otherwise, the laptop works very well and I'm happy with it.

I suspect that the problem might be with Realtek, but pilots seem to be up to date. My internet security is trend micro.

I was wondering if it might be a hardware problem, when this happens on Vista and windows 7.

Someone has any ideas on what could be causing the laptop to crash at startup?

    Hello

To be honest, if this problem occurs on the version of Vista and Windows 7 too that sounds like a hardware problem and it s time for an authorized service provider. Technicians can check your laptop fix it. It of fairly new, so I guess that it s still under warranty and the repair is free.

Here, you can get the closest authorized service provider:

    Goodbye :)

Others that look, I'm not able to go beyond these screens.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

Did you create a recovery disk?
In this case, you could use this drive in order to reinstall windows on the laptop system.

Another possibility is to drive HARD recovery. Press the power button, F8 and choose fix my computer. Now choose HARD drive recovery.

I hope that you can do this

  • Re: Satellite L650 installs not windows updates

  • Satellite L650-0E8 - blue screen so reinstall Windows?

    Hey,.

I have a Satellite L650-0E8 running Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed delivered. The occasional BSOD has turned up I read elsewhere that less than a probloem with Windows 7 because it is easier to trigger. With this information, I've neglected a few crashes. Recently, it happened more often, twice a day this week.

I have not done the changes in material purchase and changes in windows only were regular updates. I ran the two HARD disk and the memory of the controls, both returned without problems.

I'm happy to return to factory settings I have my saved documents but do not receive a Windows with the computer, is disc - this necessary or there at - it another way around the problem or reinstall windows?

    See you soon

    Hey Buddy,

What blue screen code, you get exactly?

Of course you can reinstall Windows and it s especially the best way to get rid of these bluescreens. Best option is that restore you the factory settings recovery option of HARD drive as described in your user manual. Windows will be automatically reinstalled with all drivers and tools.

But I would recommend first creating Toshiba Recovery disk before you start the recovery of HARD drive. In which case it would go something wrong you are on the safe side because the recovery disc can always restore the factory settings on a new HDD without Windows.

  • Cannot restore the disk on my Satellite L650 - 18 M

Satellite L650 frozen at startup upward. Despite the cost of mc, a virus stopped starting upwards. Stops up to blinking cursor left. can boot from the recovery cd. BUT the restoration / used to complete recovery to any selected restore point if she goes through all the motions and then says at the end, fails with the error.

No recovery disc option hard toshiba (IE to factory settings) is available in the console and recovery with the recovery disk.
Drive D contains all data recovery ok I can move aroud go c > prompt back to alldrives / areas. Have own burned recovery disks. It happened quickly.

NOW installed win 7 (64-bit) in the frustration of 'a' disc, works but all installed s/wareand drivers toshiba now useless. Bottom line there at - it a patch to install or a work around that allows access to reset the factory settings with the data stored on the disk/drive Normal D. methods of starting this process are not available

Can you please tell us what error was shown at the end of the installation of recovery?

In any case, now after installation of operating system with a non-Toshiba drive has no way start HDD recovery Setup again and the recovery image can be installed with Toshiba recovery DVD only.

    > NOW installed win 7 (64-bit) in the frustration of 'a' disc, works but all installed s/wareand drivers toshiba now useless
To be honest, your ad is a bit confused and I n t understand what you mean with this sentence. If you have own OS you install all drivers and all the Toshiba stuff also. All are available on the Toshiba download page.

If you have any other questions please be clear and ask a so it will be easier to respond to each of them.

  • Satellite L650-12 q - Toshiba HDD Recovery does not

    Toshiba Satellite L650-12 q
    Windows 7 64 bit

I am looking to re - install Windows using the Toshiba HDD Recovery software on my hard drive to restore the computer to factory settings.
I followed the procedure to do this in the System Recovery Options, but received the following message is displayed:

"The recovery of the operating system is impossible!
Not found the HDD Recovery folder on the second disc of the first hard drive. There is no valid disk HARD recovery environment on this computer. »

    More details:
Before you do the above, I supported the system and the files and folders using AOMEI Backupper. I then made the mistake of the merger of C: D: and E: partitions, E: contained HDDR files.

After having tried the recovery above and receive the above message, I reinstalled the file system I had saved on an external hard drive, which resulted in a copy of the drive C: and E: drive with HDDR files.
Unfortunately, when I tried to recover the operating system, the same message appeared.

Then I tried to use a system restore disc, I had created a few weeks ago, but concluded that, for some reason that CD is empty.

The good news is that the computer still works - slowly - and HDDR files seem to be still there, but for some reason, inaccessible.

What are my options? I want to go back to initial factory settings so that I can go back and re-install the programs and files that I want to. (I backed up all my files and have records of installation for programs).

If the worst comes to the worst and I have to buy a Windows 7 disc (if that's even possible - I don't want Windows 8), it would be possible to install on this computer and it would give me a clean install, without any of the garbage which is currently cluttering up my computer?

Thank you for reading, and I would be grateful for any advice you can offer.

In your case, the situation is clear: HARD drive recovery facility does not work?
If you want to have the laptop with the settings you have an option only: for recovery image installation you must use the installation of recovery disc.

If I understand right you don t, entitled?
But you can order it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

If you have any other questions do not hesitate to ask.

  • Re: Satellite L650 stuck Startup Repair mode

    Hello

I was asked to look at the Satellite L650 laptop for a friend because they could not get going.
Not sure they did before me do yesterday, as far as I know, it's that they couldn't turn it on. I wanted to get into Safe Mode, but it went to the Startup Repair Mode and is stuck in this at all times.

It is currently running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Have you tried from the DVD player, but it is up to the use of the hard drive, even tried running in my network, but without a bit of luck.

It does not go to the repair step because it gives me the opportunity to enter a password.

Someone at - it ideas how I can work around this problem, you can.

    HAL

    Hello

I think you have only two options here:
    (1) you are going to use HARD drive recovery options
    (2) or you can start the recovery using the recovery disk

    For HARD drive recovery:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

    Recovery disk:
A friend created one in the past?
Isn't it? Well, the new disc can be ordered here:

  • How can satellite L650-170 - I change the language of Windows 7?

    Hello

How can I change language Windows 7?

I'm installing first in Dutch and I want to re - install in french.
When I go to the recovery system, its installation still in Dutch.

    Please someone help me?

    Thanks, sorry for my English.

    Satellite L650-170

    Hello

As far as I know that it is no longer possible.
If you have selected the language, you will need to use the language that was chosen originally.

I not quite sure of this workaround, but check if this m:
-create a recovery disk (using the software creator on the laptop recovery disk)
-use the recovery disk to reinstall new OS
-Check if it would be possible to change the language.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite L650 - 12K - restore the factory with Windows password settings?

    Hello

Today I received my new Toshiba Satellite L650 - 12K. I went through the process of "first use" and put in place my name of user and password Windows 7 etc.

However, after a reboot, when I tried to enter my password to connect to Windows, it says it is incorrect. I tried different combinations of password I used (I know what it's like I wrote it down at the time)-ive tried caps, plugs etc but nothing works.

If I order the Toshiba recovery disks I will be able to return the laptop to factory settings and start the installation again, including Windows?.

PS - I only put an account so can't even connect you as another user.

Thanks for your time and your help.

    Gary2802.

    Hey Buddy,

Yes, the Toshiba recovery disc can restore the initial configuration (on the box settings) even you don t know the password because it will remove the whole HARD disk and restore the version preinstalled Windows from Toshiba.

So don t you worry about this, Toshiba Recovery disk will help you! ;)
