  • Satellite A660 - DVD player does not recognize some DVD

    I have a new Satellite A660-17th with a drive HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT30N, running under Windows 7 64-bit.

The reader will read most DVDs. Commercial DVD (region 2) are very good. However, there are problems with the DVD recorded with DVD recorders. Recordings of DVD + R using a Philips machine work very well. DVD + R and DVD - R using a Sony HDX 1095 of RDR machine do not work.

I hope that the disc is ok and that this problem can be solved by changing some settings or other?
    Any ideas?

    Hey,.

If commercial DVDs are working properly, it s final related to your own created DVD recorder of DVD.
It s knows not to adjust something on the DVD player without region code

In my opinion, you should test different brands of DVD to check which is compatible with all devices.

Laptop with Windows Vista cannot read data DVD discs that burned same machine.  The discs work on another computer.  My laptop will read CD disks, he did, and it will play DVD movies. What's wrong?

    Hello

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD &)
Burn DVDs and CDs and read DVDs). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 parts to no function
while others are doing so correctly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner
    could help.

Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always
    issue.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the outside edge
tolerances of the disks. They may be delivered, but it is usually cheaper to replace
    the reader.

    ===========================================

This troubleshooting might not help if there are problems of alignment and wear it
    is worth it.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then check the cables

power and data of the contacts with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the system manufacturer

  • Satellite A50: DVD player does not read DVD only CD

On my Satellite A50 DVD drive can only read CDs now but not DVD. So I'm not able to use the recovery disc.
My BIOS is up to date, I think.

    Hello

Well, what can I say? For me, this looks like a disk failure.
Maybe the lens can not calibrate properly and that's why the drive is able to read the CD.
I don't think that the replacement of disc will help you :(

  • Satellite L30 - DVD player will not read CD - R / CD - RW

I have a L30 with a carpet * a ram drive uj-850 s DVD. He reads prerecorded CDs/DVDs, but during the insertion of a CD - R or CD - RW with files that have been burned on the disc it comes tells me that I have inserted a blank disc.

Also does not burn a disk (tried to burn files to Itunes and it seems to work but the disc was blank when I tried to read).

I read on another forum that I should delete the upper & lower registry values filters in the folder {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} in the registry, which I think could be the wrong advice to follow.

I deleted the upper part and then realized the lesser wasn't there anyway - it has not solved the problem and I think that it may have caused instability as I have weird errors with different applications since then.

    Help, please.

    > removed the upper part and then realized the lesser wasn't there anyway - it has not solved the problem and I think that it may have caused instability as I have weird errors with different applications since then.

Well well... from my personal experiences, the results of burning depends on different factors.
First that not all CD and DVD is cared for and compatible. You need to test different manufacturers!

Second, the different burning pre-installed applications could have a negative influence on the burning process! I only use Nero and AI? m very happy!
Last but not less dysfunction of CD/DVD could cause this problem.

SO what to do?  :| First check if other media works properly and try to burn with Nero. It would also be desirable to renew the operating system to avoid errors in program!

    Good luck

  • Satellite A200 - DVD player does not open

    Hello

I had no computer laptop withmy problems so far and my DVD/CD does not open. I'm not savvy in same computer so bear with me! There is no lights there at the moment and when I turn on the laptop it does not sound like he used to. I looked on other forums and tried things like access to the Device Manager, but it says that it is on it - any other suggestions would be welcome.

Oh, and I get no error message and in Device Manager its says that "the device works correctly.

    See you soon

    Hello

You can try to open the CD/DVD drive using something small and thin. Near the eject button, you should find a small hole.
You have to slide - in the little thing and should manually open the CD/DVD drive.

Then try to insert a CD or DVD disc and close the CD/DVD drive.
Check if the drive can read data from the disc.

I would recommend also check if the CD/DVD drive would eject the disc by pressing eject button check different opportunities.

    Hello

It seems that your drive is defective and must be replaced. If he doesn t open more you can nothing do I think.
But you can open the drive if you go into the BIOS?

If this isn't the case, you should contact the service provider authorized in your country. They can replace the drive of your. If it of under warranty, the repair should be free for you.

    Hello

You need to remove the upper and lower registry filters.
But before doing so, please remove the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager.

Then start the registry (regedit) and then remove the filters above and below this key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

  • Satellite A100-998: CD/DVD player does not recognize digital camera installation disk

    Hello world.

I just tried to install my digital Canon camera on my Satellite A100 - 998 (PSAA9E), but the drive just won't start. It is not recognizing that the disc is in the drive.

I tried the drive with a music CD and it works very well and thinking the disc that came with the camera was defective, I tried in my desktop pc, and it installed without a problem.

Anyone have any ideas why my portable drive is to play music CDs, but not to pick up the cd software...

Your help would me most appreciated.

  • Satellite A100-447 - DVD player does not read some discs

    Hello

    I have a 4 month old Satellite 100-447 (PSAAN), came preloaded with Vista Home Premium and a carpet * CD/DVD super-multi UJ-850 s player.

The DVD player does not work properly. It will recognize a few blank, but never DVD-R DVD and won't recognise any DVD at all serious. He is very good with CD and DVD movie discs. It's just recordable DVD where there is a problem.

Also when you try to write to a DVD, when he chooses to recognize a TI-error in half way through.

    What can I do?

    Thanks for your help.
    Adam

    Hello

    You can do the follwowing:

    Go to this website http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp,

Download the latest update of the firmware for this drive, install it, and then try again.

Sometimes, the manufacturer must update their readers for the newer recordable media and so I think that it is possible that your drive is simply not up to date.

    Welcome them

CD\DVD player does not display the contents of the data DVD, but will display the content of the data CD.  What is happening on more than one PC, and it began when Active Directory GPOS have been applied for the PC.  If untying policies the problem persists.  What happens on DVD ROM and DVD RAM drives.  Scanning software has been added to these machines, think it might be an ASPI crush.  All these machines are XP SP3 running McAfee.  When you insert a DVD with data on this topic, the name of the drive in windows password DVD RAM drive to CD drive, and if you try and browse the DVD it displays as a blank CD.  I changed something on the PC with the policy but cannot understand what he.  Other identical PC can view the contents of the DVD very well, but they never had the same strategies.  Any ideas, thank you.

    Hello

Have you tried to install a third party player to check if the problem persists?
You can test it with VLC player. Download is free.

    You created the recovery DVDs?
It will be interesting to know if the DVD writing is possible.
Only a few DVD recognized correctly in Windows Explorer?

You know that's not easy to say what the problem is here. You need to know if it's general order questions with optical drive or related to the drive that you are using.
