Satellite L670-112 - fan is strong enough

Hello!

So, I started having problems with my fan and I'm not sure but I think since I've updated the BIOS to version 1.50.

My fan is strong enough, and my CPU temp is always about 45-50 °, what should be normal, but my fan is still about 70%, and it is a bit noisy. And it goes over 90% when I open a movie or just to watch a video on youtube and it never goes down, I put my latpop to sleep and wait a little and restart my fan is functioning normally (normally like 65-70%) again.

So I thought trying to downgrade the BIOS, it can solve the problem, but I can't find the old version of the BIOS anywhere (the dust is certainly not the cause of the problem that my laptop is only 2 weeks old)?

Oh and Yes, use of PC is about 5-10%, never higher than 35%, so it isn't really a reason for my fan work that fast. When I opened a 3D application, I know it's normal for a fan to run fast, but even when I close it continues to turn on 90 to 100%.

Thanks in advance

Hello

Material generally new and powerful equipment need better cooling then more old so I think that it of normal that you notice any fan activity.

In addition, you can adjust the fan control in Windows power management. Here you can choose between different modes and set the fan a bit. Maybe it helps

On BIOS downgrade: it is not possible. If you want an older version of the BIOS, please contact an authorized service provider.

As I sit in front of my new laptop L670, from the left end of the keyboard comes up and down a whirring frequent sound that I'm pretty sure is the CPU fan

What is too much? I find it disturbing. There is no sound from my old Toshiba 1 year. The room temperature is a constant 20degrees, so it is not overheating.
And does so even when sitting idle with just the screen Windows7 IE no software activity going on at all.

I'm worried that this is a faulty computer. It is old (for me) - 2 days, purchased new. Still able to resume.

    Grateful for any thoughts.

    Hello

I put t know how I can you use your laptop, but for normal use I recommend to use the balanced power plan. Enter the advanced power settings for the management of the balanced diet and open Toshiba power saver.
You will find options for cooling method.
    Set to optimized battery.

This should reduce the activity of fan cooling.
    Please test.

  • Satellite M70-192: its not strong enough

    Hey!

I have a little problem with my sound on Satellite M70 - 192 PM760, when I plug the cable jack instead of phones, and second shot (on the same cable) to the hi-fi unit the sound is not loud enough. The sound is 2 times more silent, then it should be.

My card its Realtek AC97 Audio v. 5.5 on my previous laptop, everything was ok and the sound is loud enough, so I conclude that something that something is wrong with the software or the sound card have some limitations. I have already downloaded all the latest drivers.

    Help, please!

    Hello

We're all ok. It is not a malfunction of the sound card or driver. I am sure that this problem occurs due to the settings in the "sound and audio devices" 99.9 percent.
This option you will find in the control panel.
Open sound and audio devices option and press the Advanced button.
You will find many controllers. You should check the controllers and replace it with the higher position.

  • Satellite A200-19 decies is strong enough - cooler runs constantly

    Hello

Last week, I have a Toshiba Satellite A200-19 decies. The laptop is very strong in my opinion. A chiller is running constantly and the other runs it sometimes. Or this noisy thing isn't a cooler?

Please help me and sorry for my bad English. I'm from the Germany.

    Thank you
    Arne

What do you mean with very strong? You compared this laptop by a similar that supports the same hardware configuration as the decies A200-19?

Do you run applications while running one of the cooling modules?
Please don t forget that the graphics card and the CPU must be cooled properly.
All parts of this produce a lot of heat, and that heat must be distributed!

  • Satellite L670-112 - SSD slow read and write speed

    Hello.
I put 120 GB SATA III SSD kingston (read and write above 500 MB/S), but when I run the sequential test I get 150 MB/S read and 107 MB/S in writing. I know SATA II limitation, so should not write and read nearly 300 MB/S?

Yes, it should at least reach SATA II speeds (close to 270 MB/s).

Most SSD's 4K sector drives you may need to realign the 512 to 4K sectors using a partition alignment tool (I think that WD have one available).

  • Re: Satellite L670-112 - RAM upgrade module

Can I upgrade my RAM memory? I have 2x2gb stock. I could replace these two with a 8 GB RAM module?
    Also how often choose?

    Can I put 8GB with 1600 MHz?

According to the specifications of the laptop, you can improve up to 8 GB of RAM, and I found the info you can use 2 x 4 GB modules. Compatible 4 GB of RAM has PA3677U-1M4G part number.

I put t know if you can use a module only but I'm pretty sure that 8 GB modules are quite expensive at the moment.
Don't you think that a single module of 8 GB has an advantage over the 2 x 4 GB modules?

  • Fan kicks hard enough every minute on Satellite L30

    Hello

I use a laptop Satellite L30. One thing that I find annoying is that the fan is used strong enough every minute or so, then quieted down for a while. Using a temperature monitor that looks like the fan is used when the temperature exceeds about 50, then slows down when it falls. When the temperature is less than 45 fan stops in total which causes the temperature to rise quickly above 50.

I want to change power management settings so that the fan is quitely at low temperatures. I have a desktop where it is possible to change the fan settings in the BIOS, but I can't find anything like this on the laptop. Can anyone suggest where I should look - is there any open source or shareware tools that will do it?

    Hello

you already updated your bios to the latest version? If not, then hurry and check if a newer version is available, since most bios updates are correct some problems as parameters powermanagment (ACPI :)) and some other stuff.

Another idea would be to clean your system from breakdown of your machine as a fan that is clobbed with dust, doesn´t work quietly and with precision. A can of compressed air of any market e-mail does the trick. :)

At what temperature fan start and stop?

Feeding method chosen is normal with the optimization of the performance, the AC adapter.

    Hey,.

Why is it important for you? You have problems with the temperature?

The activity of the fan will be controlled automatically. Everything you can adjust change cooling method in Windows power to optimised battery management.

    Help, please

You see a cursor blinking in the upper left corner or just a black screen?
The blinking cursor is an indicator of malfunction of the drive HARD or the fault of RAM.

But as you bought another LCD and 2nd hand motherboard, one of these parts may be affected also.

Are you sure that the 2nd hand motherboard is OK. I think it could be a troublemaker.

  • Satellite L670 - screen don't market not 'start '.

I'm trying to fix the laptop named. The problem is that the screen start not (still empty) when I press the power button. I can hear the fan running and if I put a cd/dvd in the drive I can hear it turn. The problem occurs randomly and finally a few days then I can start the laptop normally, windows 7 loads normally and the only problem is overheating. However on the next working the same problems again.

I tried to remove the battery and the power cable and pressing the Start button for Tip 1-2 minutes, but it doesn't seem to work. When he did load I scanned it against viruses and hardware problems (with various tools, but nothing has been found). I used thin program drivers to update some drivers but still no result.

I tried to connect another monitor, but once again the two screen remains blank.

    What could be the problem?

    Satellite L670 (European model)

You mentioned the problem of overheating.
I guess it could be the main reason why the laptop does not work correctly.

The high internal temperature can affect the internal parts as mother and CPU, graphics card, RAM, card.
I can't say for sure what part may be the troublemaker, but in my opinion this isn't question of display.

For display problems, you should be able to use the laptop as part of the external monitor, but obviously this isn't possible

RAM replacement is not very delicate, it might be useful to test the new RAM modules, but it is a possible troublemaker
There is no guarantee that after the replacement of the RAM, the notebook would work perfectly.

  • Satellite L670 - 10 p BIOS flash error

    Hello

Please I ask all the people here on this forum if you can help me with my situation.

I have a Satellite L670 - 10 p and I wanted to do a BIOS upgrade. I downloaded the update to the BIOS from the page drivers and ran the executable inside. The program launched flashing the BIOS at the time without even asking anything or display certain information.

The problem is that during the flashing, for some reason any the laptop off just - looks like it was overheating, because I had on my bed and didn't know that, maybe, the air cannot flow through the openings at the bottom.

Anyway, now I have a non-working computer. Whenever I want to turn it on, the fan starts a bit, and then it turns off after 1 or 2 seconds.

I also noticed, that if I plug in any USB key and turn everything on by pressing Fn + B, he wants to read something from the USB. I figured this out while trying to retrieve it using this BIOS Phoenix crisis recovery tool, but I had no luck.

Does anyone have any suggestion that I do? Surely - some BIOS recovery tool, built in Notepad, is trying to access the USB key and you are looking for something, but what I put on it?

    > Does anyone have any suggestion that I do? Surely - some BIOS recovery tool, built in Notepad, is trying to access the USB key and you are looking for something, but what I put on it?

Well, the fact is that the module of the BIOS EPROM was not flashed properly. The update process was interrupted and that is why the laptop doesn't work anymore.

As far as I know, this kind of problems can be solved easily. To reflash the EPROM you need a particular crisis BIOS recovery tool.
Usually the authorized Toshiba maintainer in your country has access to these software and could help you solve the problem.

But I found a few comments in other threads on the corrupted BIOS problem and how to solve:

  • Re: Satellite U400-112 - BIOS update error

    Hello

I have a Satellite U400-112 with Windows 7-64 bit OS. I can't upgrade my system v4.00 to v4.70 since windows or DOS.

Specifically, when the upgrade starts according to the file and then check it stucks without any progress. This error means the two versions (DOS & Windows).
I have a strong feeling that is a corrupted bios file. If someone can justify my feeling or a good file BIOS it is asked to answer.

    Thank you in advance,

    Ioannis

    Hey Buddy,

Update the BIOS of BACK is not possible because the updates are only based on the Windows.
In any case, what update BIOS error that you get exactly?

If you try to update, make sure that the value added package is installed. That s necessary for the program to update the BIOS.

But why do you want to update? Normally it of not necessary if your system works ok.

  • Re: Satellite L670-142 - overheating when I play a game

First I got keyboard problems with my Satellite L670-142, then it was fixed by an update of the BIOS (version 1.80).

But now, when I play a game, it overheats and stops. Before updating the BIOS, I have never had this problem. Is it possible to install the previous BIOS or anyone know another solution?

    Brecht

    Hey,.

If your laptop is overheating, you should try to clean using compressed air stream. This could blow the dust from the cooling fans that blocks the air. It only takes a few minutes to clean and it s not necessary to disassemble the laptop.

Just blow air gently and shortly into the holes of the case to blow off the dust.
Before that, shut down the laptop and remove the battery and the AC adapter.

  • Satellite L670 freezes randomly without reason

I have exactly the same problem with Toshiba Satellite L670... for some reason it randomly freezes and can only be turned off by pressing the power button for several seconds.

It has been reset several times but always than that.
The fan starts, the mouse stops and the freezing of the screen. Very frustrating.

I had local PC repair shop look and they say that it is certainly not a software problem, but perhaps also a defect on the graphics card that can only be fixed by replacing the motherboard?

Cheaper to buy a new laptop?

Shame, as he worked when he was a great laptop!

    > It has been reset several times but always than that.
I assume that you have installed the original recovery image. Have you tested a few days without changing anything?

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here, but I recommend you contact the closest service provider of Toshiba, to explain the situation and ask for help. Warranty is still valid?
    > Cheaper to buy a new laptop?
Generally Yes but depends on where you want to buy.

Try to clarify this with Toshiba service initially. Let us know what they will say on the subject.
