Satellite L670 - downgrade Windows 7 to XP

A Toshiba Satellite L670 run Windows XP.

I had the L670 camera for 3 weeks and find Windows 7 and Add-ons possible the biggest pile of bovine excrement. With levels of frustration at its zenith, the only way out I see is downgrade to XP.
Can I reformat and load XP?
Please stop punishing the smart to the actions of the ignorant
KISS

Of course, you can install Win XP. Why not
On the European driver Toshiba page, you will find some Win XP drivers.
If some drivers would be missing, then you could look for drivers with your own hands.

This HowTo should be useful:

    Hello

Can you please help. Just a week before I bought the Toshiba Satellite T230-10j. The laptop comes with Windows 7 64-bit edition. It has the recovery partition and no other support provided with the same. Is it possible to downgrade from 64-bit to 32-bit OS. If so can someone please provide the *.wim image. There are a many applications doesnot support 64 - bit os and the only way for me would be the Windows 7 32 bit.

Can someone guide me how to proceed further with this.

    Kind regards

    Hi mate

As much as I know the laptop won't was delivered with any disk recovery because you could create a clean recovery disc image using the Toshiba Recovery creator software that was preinstalled on your laptop.

In addition if you want to downgrade the Win 7 64 bit to 32 bit then you will need to purchase the 32 bit version.

If I understand you right, WLAN option on your laptop works fine.

  • Satellite L670 - unrecognized USB keys

I have a Toshiba Satellite L670 with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium edition.

Recently, I bought 3 keys usb SanDisk Cruzer, 2x8Gb, and 4 GB. Have you tried multiple USB ports on this computer, but the same result. The computer recognizes that the SanDisk Cruzers, because it makes the sound when the USB drive is plugged into the machine, but it does not appear on the file manager or Explorer windows of this machine, so can not use the USB.

I moved that the USB stick to a two other machines of Windows 7 (Home Premium version). The USB is immediately recognized by the Office else opens and is available in the windows Explorer, with no problems. I found a temporary solution of desconecting my Toshiba of the cable of power supply and after reboot, the sticks are recognized, but only for 10-15 minutes.

    very delicate situation, please help!

    Hello

Well, if the USB is recognized from another computer USB sticks seem to be ok and it must be a problem of your laptop.

Have you checked the Device Manager if all USB ports are recognized correctly or is there a yellow exclamation mark in the Device Manager on the USB ports?

I had a similar problem with the USB ports, so I removed all the USB ports in Device Manager (right click > uninstall) and then I rebooted the computer. After that, the ports have been recognized again and I could use my USB devices again. :)

  • Satellite L670 - unable to connect to my 802.11n WLAN router

    Hello

I have a new Satellite L670 with Windows 7 Home Premium. With this laptop I can connect to my network 802.11 g WLAN. Everything works very well. Now I wanted to connect to my 802.11n wlan (router: linksys wrt610n) but it does not work. Laptop can't see the network (ssid) and it does not work if I entered the ssid manually too. The network works with my mac mini perfectly if it is not a failure of the 802.11n.

I have updated all drivers from the laptop, all the updates that are installed under windows and I tested the driver broadcom broadcom itself (once the driver from toshiba Web site and the other driver from broadcom site) but nothing works. Laptop can't see the ssid and a manual configuration do not work too.

    Can someone help me pls?

Each cell function requires special tools and utilities.
In the case of FN keys, Toshiba software controls this feature.

But as far as I know that the Satellite L670 won't get any utility Windows 10 so probably this key will not work running Win 10.

    When I run it, I can't draw.
I changed the keys, mouse, connected to an external keyboard, checked drivers mouse and keyboard. Any extract, which makes me think that it is a driver/hardware problem. First time I noticed it, I thought it was a bug in the game. Now I have a new problem.

    Hello

As far as I know the mouse and keyboard drivers are the drivers Microsoft and Toshiba doesn't offer drivers for these devices except the driver for the touchpad to improve the touchpad options. I don t think that Toshiba is testing the feature with different games.

Confused, it's that you have noticed the same problem using the external keyboard and mouse.
Is there a possibility to test it with some older games?

    Help, please

You see a cursor blinking in the upper left corner or just a black screen?
The blinking cursor is an indicator of malfunction of the drive HARD or the fault of RAM.

But as you bought another LCD and 2nd hand motherboard, one of these parts may be affected also.

Are you sure that the 2nd hand motherboard is OK. I think it could be a troublemaker.

  • Satellite L670 - update the BIOS

    Hello

I own a Toshiba Satellite L670 running on Ubuntu Linux. I want to update my bios from version 1.00 to last version 2.30.

But the site offers serverals versions window and one version of the OS "independent." I downloaded it and the .zip file contains only an .exe file I can't use with Linux.

How can I update my bios? Not there at - it no .bin file?

    Thank you.

This Toshiba laptop model no is not supported for Linux and all offered stuff on the download page are designed for the Windows operating system only if you cannot update BIOS if you use the failure to take in charge of operating system.

Anyway, if there is a problem with your laptop BIOS update is not necessary.

Hello, since a few days my laptop loses its internet connection when I move a few meters or put me behind a window. In this case, I am sitting the router to 2 meters maximum. The power of wireless transmission is very good according to the screen, but there is no access. If I go back inside and once again, I have Internet.

Should what drivers I replace to make sure that my setup is correct? Either way, I also found that the Control Panel, the network card freezes from time to time if I try to change the configuration.

The laptop my wife works correctly in all cases.

  • Re: Satellite L670 loses the wireless connection

    Hello

I have a Satellite L670 - 1 H 1, a new laptop that runs Windows 7, with all the drivers and software uptodate, including the wireless card.

I have a BT Home Hub 3 with an Edimax EW 7416APN v2 300 m range extender to help boost the signal in the kitchen area.

The laptop works fine when I stay in the room where the reception centre. If I move in the kitchen the laptop will usually lose the wireless connection after a few minutes and I cannot get it back unless I turn the LAPTOP works and return to the Home Hub.

I see no obvious reason to this problem. Two other laptop computers used in the home, more a smartphone stay connected with full signal in every corner of the House, at any time.

I have to use the range extender, but is it possible that the laptop Toshiba just don't hear well with it?

    Any advice would be welcome.

    Thank you
    Canton

    Hello Canton

As you know quality of connection WLAN depends on different factors is not easy to say why you have this problem, WLAN. I use Toshiba laptops for a long time now and I didn't notice in the past some serious question of WLAN.
For example I'm 4 router with standard g and have very good signal even in the cellar too or out in the back yard.

If possible, try to test the WLAN connection elsewhere. Maybe your friends have WLAN routers so you can test it.

You have a new router or old?
What WLAN standard do you use (b/g/n)?

  • Satellite L670-1EE - reinstallation of Win 7 - key not readable series

    Hello

    I bought a Toshiba Satellite L670-1EE January 2011
Now the system completely crashed and I need to reinstall from scratch.

My problem is, that the first 5 digits of the product key Microsoft are not readable.

Are there opportunities to get the key, or can I use a special image of Toshiba to retrieve?

I can't access the installed windows, fails to start, I tried a recovery with a DVD of victory but it didn't work, so I need to reinstall it.

    > My problem is, that the first 5 digits of the product key Microsoft are not readable.
This key cannot be used as part of the new Windows 7
It is an OEM key that belongs to the image of Toshiba. For the most part, these keys don't work.

The point is that Toshiba preinstalled system has already been activated in the image of the Toshiba.
But there is no need to be activated after the recovery procedure.

So if you want to use the own system of Windows, you must purchase a license from Microsoft.
In case you want to use the image of Toshiba, you must use the Toshiba Recovery disk that probably, you have not created in the past. Right?

In this case, there is another option: you can order this disc from here:

  • Satellite L670 - 184 PSK3EE: cannot boot OS

    Hello

    I have this laptop: Satellite L670-184 PSK3EE-039007FR

This laptop is no longer under warranty, but my will is to save my data and whether my hard drive might be fix.

For 13 months, I have seen no problems with him, but for 2 weeks, I have experiment some gel and bug during initialization. Last week, I couldn't reach the connection windows operating system, I try to reach the Restore tool (F8 key) but there is no possibility to achieve the recovery partition.

With a live CD, I managed to save some data, but after recording, my hard drive was not identified in the linux live cd or in a SATA / USB link.

The hard disk starts itself, but is not identified. The disc was not uncommon or metallic sounds. It is impossible to load an operating system or of the TOSHIBA recovery partition in the laptop (SATA port) or via USB (SATA/USB tool).

The laptop starts with another hard drive SATA (SATA drive Exchange).

    What is your opinion?

Can it be fixed (at this point, it is not a question of money but a question of possibility...)?
There are software or processes to identy, restart or restore the disk without it recognition? How it identified?

    Thank you

    Concerning

    Hello

    > The laptop starts with another hard drive SATA (SATA drive Exchange).
In this case, it would mean that the disc is broken I recommend you replace this HARD drive and install the operating system once more using the Toshiba disk recover.

If you didn't create the disc of recovery in the past, then you can order it here:
