Satellite L670 started making funny noises

Hello

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite L670.
I noticed it has started making noises.

First of all, it makes a noise as if a dvd / cd in the drive but nothings been put in the drive and the drive is empty.
And second, I was on youtube and it makes a weird noise like static, I he did while I was on youtube and also when I'm browsing the internet, thought I would ask here for advice before I send.

Any advice would really be welcome

Hello

With regard to the problem of noise WEIRD;
My drive does not spin if no disc has been inserted.
So if this will happen again and will not stop, so I recommend asking an ASP technician for the verification of the material eventually the STRANGE should be replaced then

About static noise.
I'm not very well what you mean, but it would be interesting to know if you notice this m ring all the time or only the navigation in internet.
Please check the sound is coming from

In addition, you can try to update the audio driver too.

Also turn off the microphone in order to check if the sound is not completed as described here

At first I thought that it would be a driver problem so by using Device Manager in windows I have searched online for a update for my Realtek High Definition Audio and he told me that the version is up-to-date.

I went from Vista to Windows 7 about 5-6 months there may be that this is a problem when I reinstalled my drivers? Any advice would be appreciated!

    Hello

Driver update might be useful in this case, but the audio driver is not related to the internal mic. The internal MIC is part of the webcam then in this case I recommend to reinstall the driver for the webcam of the official website of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

And don t forget to check the Windows sound settings. I would try to disable the microphone amplifier and reduce the volume of the microphone.

Using the Toshiba Service Station, he warned me an update. The update is called "Satellite L670/L675, Satellite Pro L670, update BIOS Version 1.50". When I install the update, it gives me this error: "there was an error, please check below the elements.» More than 150 BIOS version. Battery capacity more than 10%. AC is attached.

    Hello

Firstly I have to say if you don t have any problems with your computer forget this update. BIOS update is required only if you really have problems, otherwise I don't such updated risky.

Anyway, if you download the update of the BIOS, you will need to extract all files of archive zip first before start you. Also, make sure that you are logged on as administrator.

  • Satellite L670 - screen don't market not 'start '.

I'm trying to fix the laptop named. The problem is that the screen start not (still empty) when I press the power button. I can hear the fan running and if I put a cd/dvd in the drive I can hear it turn. The problem occurs randomly and finally a few days then I can start the laptop normally, windows 7 loads normally and the only problem is overheating. However on the next working the same problems again.

I tried to remove the battery and the power cable and pressing the Start button for Tip 1-2 minutes, but it doesn't seem to work. When he did load I scanned it against viruses and hardware problems (with various tools, but nothing has been found). I used thin program drivers to update some drivers but still no result.

I tried to connect another monitor, but once again the two screen remains blank.

    What could be the problem?

    Satellite L670 (European model)

You mentioned the problem of overheating.
I guess it could be the main reason why the laptop does not work correctly.

The high internal temperature can affect the internal parts as mother and CPU, graphics card, RAM, card.
I can't say for sure what part may be the troublemaker, but in my opinion this isn't question of display.

For display problems, you should be able to use the laptop as part of the external monitor, but obviously this isn't possible

RAM replacement is not very delicate, it might be useful to test the new RAM modules, but it is a possible troublemaker
There is no guarantee that after the replacement of the RAM, the notebook would work perfectly.

Is it possible to fix it (maybe clean?) without taking it to the laboratory of support?

You have enough new notebook with valid warranty, and don t waste your time with temporary solutions and communicate with the service of Toshiba. They should solve the problem.

Fan may be defective and must be replaced.

  • Bluescreens and satellite L670-12J slow start

    Hello
I have a new laptop and the ends of the return policy 27 so I need quick help here.
Got a new laptop from Amazon nearly a month ago.
Toshiba Satellite L670-12J with 64-bit Windows. Processor i5, 4 GB memory and 500 GB hard drive.

Since I got it, every time I turn it on it shows a black screen with a _ in the upper left corner of the screen. It takes 30 seconds to 2 minutes before it makes it to the login screen. It should not take anywhere near that for a laptop with these specs.

In addition, there many Bluescreen. Sometimes a few times a week to 5 times a day. It's completely cause and that the computer is running any specific program when it occurs. It happened even when the laptop did nothing. I scanned it a few times with Windows and other programs, but they have never found anything.

The blue screen remains upward on the screen for a few seconds then closes its doors until I read this.
Even though I remember reading something like KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. Or something like that, but then I had a different message the next time (I think). Sometimes he says things about the MEMORY, but it is so fast that I can not read properly.

As far as I know the latest drivers are installed and the latest version of the BIOS is installed.

I really need your help guys and fast. Thank you.
    Ewen :)

    Hello

After reading your ad I can't say for sure what the problem is here, but the best thing you can do is to install the OS by using the recovery disk (F8 at startup) mode or use recovery DVDs if you have created a.

Reinstall the OS and test or two days with preinstalled OS clean and without some additional software. If the problem persists the best thing you can do is to contact the nearest service Toshiba and ask for help.

I mean what you can do if the problem persists with the factory settings?
    Something like that shouldn't happen.

  • Satellite L670-1EE - reinstallation of Win 7 - key not readable series

    Hello

    I bought a Toshiba Satellite L670-1EE January 2011
Now the system completely crashed and I need to reinstall from scratch.

My problem is, that the first 5 digits of the product key Microsoft are not readable.

Are there opportunities to get the key, or can I use a special image of Toshiba to retrieve?

I can't access the installed windows, fails to start, I tried a recovery with a DVD of victory but it didn't work, so I need to reinstall it.

    > My problem is, that the first 5 digits of the product key Microsoft are not readable.
This key cannot be used as part of the new Windows 7
It is an OEM key that belongs to the image of Toshiba. For the most part, these keys don't work.

The point is that Toshiba preinstalled system has already been activated in the image of the Toshiba.
But there is no need to be activated after the recovery procedure.

So if you want to use the own system of Windows, you must purchase a license from Microsoft.
In case you want to use the image of Toshiba, you must use the Toshiba Recovery disk that probably, you have not created in the past. Right?

In this case, there is another option: you can order this disc from here:

  • Satellite L670 - 1JP external HDD not recognized at startup

I bought an external hard drive Samsung G3. The first time I plugged it, it was directly recognized by my Toshiba Satellite L670-1JP and worked without any problems.

But later almost whenever I start my computer, it is not the external hard drive. Then I have to disconnect reconnect en USB connection several times to make it work.

It is your time, so how can I solve this problem?

    Hello

Other USB devices work properly in the laptop Satellite L?

Have you tested this disk external DRIVE with other computers/laptops?

I think that you should do this because it might be an external HARD drive failure.

    Hello

    > The laptop starts with another hard drive SATA (SATA drive Exchange).
In this case, it would mean that the disc is broken I recommend you replace this HARD drive and install the operating system once more using the Toshiba disk recover.

If you didn't create the disc of recovery in the past, then you can order it here:

    Hi dude

To be honest I never encounter this error message on my two different notebooks of a graphics chip ATI but I searched a bit on the internet and it seems that this error would appear on different systems. Vista and Win 7
It seems that he might appear on desktop or laptop PC so it's not easy to say why this happens, but I found a comment interesting in other forums

  • Satellite L670-12J - becomes inadmissible constantly

    Hello

My Satellite L670-12J new running Windows 7 64 bit freezes constantly, usually a few minutes after the start of almost every time I turn it on. It becomes inadmissible: I can't change the application, view the Task Manager or activate the start menu. The mouse cursor moves, but displays the wait icon and I can't click anywhere. The hard drive light flashes on a regular basis, a quick flash once a second about.

It does not appear to be linked to a specific program that I am running. I can get when the computer is idle or when I run a random application.

The only way to recover from it turn the computer off (press and hold power for a few seconds). Once it restarts, it works without problem until the next time I turn it on.

As I bought this week yet, should I go back to the dealer and ask for another or is there something I can do to fix this?

    Thank you
    Luis

    Hello

Usually, these gels can be related to a hardware or software problem. You have installed all drivers for software once you've got the laptop?

In General, before returning the laptop, you must reinstall Windows using Toshiba recovery disc. The disc can restore factory settings and if it s just a software problem, it will be fixed after reinstalling Windows.

Otherwise you need the service help :(

  • Satellite L670 - 10 p BIOS flash error

    Hello

Please I ask all the people here on this forum if you can help me with my situation.

I have a Satellite L670 - 10 p and I wanted to do a BIOS upgrade. I downloaded the update to the BIOS from the page drivers and ran the executable inside. The program launched flashing the BIOS at the time without even asking anything or display certain information.

The problem is that during the flashing, for some reason any the laptop off just - looks like it was overheating, because I had on my bed and didn't know that, maybe, the air cannot flow through the openings at the bottom.

Anyway, now I have a non-working computer. Whenever I want to turn it on, the fan starts a bit, and then it turns off after 1 or 2 seconds.

I also noticed, that if I plug in any USB key and turn everything on by pressing Fn + B, he wants to read something from the USB. I figured this out while trying to retrieve it using this BIOS Phoenix crisis recovery tool, but I had no luck.

Does anyone have any suggestion that I do? Surely - some BIOS recovery tool, built in Notepad, is trying to access the USB key and you are looking for something, but what I put on it?

    > Does anyone have any suggestion that I do? Surely - some BIOS recovery tool, built in Notepad, is trying to access the USB key and you are looking for something, but what I put on it?

Well, the fact is that the module of the BIOS EPROM was not flashed properly. The update process was interrupted and that is why the laptop doesn't work anymore.

As far as I know, this kind of problems can be solved easily. To reflash the EPROM you need a particular crisis BIOS recovery tool.
Usually the authorized Toshiba maintainer in your country has access to these software and could help you solve the problem.

But I found a few comments in other threads on the corrupted BIOS problem and how to solve:
