  I m also an owner of some different notebooks and I had the same problem in the past. I could fix it by cleaning the laser lens using cotton tip and liquid alcohol. I was not very difficult to clean the lens, and after this procedure simply the disc can be read correctly.
  I recommend you to clean the laser lens and verify if it would help to address this problem.

  Regarding the sound issue:

• Satellite A205-S4577 - multicolored mobile lines on screen

  I have an A205-S4577 (Vista) and have had problems with this laptop for about a year. I tried this last year of troubleshooting but has not had time to go in depth and had to buy another laptop in the meantime. I'm back to try and solve this problem, and in the meantime, I found that now the battery is dead and the laptop works only when it is plugged.

I was able to operate in all Modes of security. I found Toshiba and Applications recovery disks / drivers and today attempted to restart the whole machine. I was off to a good start and then "poof" these boring but nice lines appeared! EU force the machine to stop because lines prevents you from doing anything else. Now I can turn on only machine, will get the 'Security Mode' option, then when I select one, the laptop goes to never never land. I was able to boot the laptop using the recovery disks, obtained as a screen that asked a selection (missing to fast to see what was requested) and then the appararurent lines again. Any suggestions?

  Lines appear in all colors, sometimes green and blue, other times red and blue, not a constant model. Any suggestions will be appreciated. P.S. I already opened the laptop and cleaned the fans who have little dust! The machine is about 3 years old and more

• Very unusual behavior of Satellite L750D-14R

  One of my kids has a portable Satellite L750D-14R and a couple of weeks complained that the laptop was slow. It * was * slow - it took 10 to 15 actual minutes just to load of minecraft, and then the game was unplayable because it was so slow. He already had 6 GB of RAM. To try to fix it, I reinstalled Windows 8 (when we bought, it came with windows 7 and I upgraded to 8.1 Windows), all system updates and the windows update 8.1.

  He seemed to be okay, at this point, faster. But he began to blue screen regularly, as every time it has been used. I tried to reinstall another, this time by installing Windows 8.1 directly.   It's as if there was something on the "valorisation" partition which stops users to upgrade the HARD drive or something - any player who does not have this 'special' recovery partition do not work, thus ensuring that consumers buy a new laptop when it grinds to stop instead of the upgrade. This may sound cynical, but I saw anti-mise at material level similar solutions in the past - Compaq PC used to have special notches plastic cast on optical drives, so that readers could be used in the frame of Compaq.
