Satellite L755-128 - CPU compatibility problem

Hello dear colleagues,

As the title says, I have a Toshiba Satellite L755-128 code PSK30E. He has a 2nd generation processor Intel i5 - 2410M.

Laptop that works fine and everything, but I recently got a nice agreement on a more recent laptop with lower overall record, but a better processor. It's an and Latitude E5530, with a 3rd gen Intel i5 - 3230M.

Go to the Intel website, I saw that basically two processors have the same TDP of 35W and the same size of package, both run on HT and have two hearts, the only difference is that architecture from 32nm to 22 nm and the frequency is higher.

In addition, 2nd generation supports 1066/1333 MHz memory, and 3rd generation supports 1333/1600 MHz. My memory is 1333.

Of course, as you may have guessed, I intend to swap the processors between the two laptops. Updated the BIOS on both of them, then replace the processors, re-assembled and starts, surprise: The recognized enjoy the old version of i5, ran fine and all, but Toshiba does not.

He just opened when I pressed the button, but the screen remains black. Then I pressed the button again, it also normally stop. (I repeat, already updated BIOS update, as someone recommended). I disassembled again the Satellite, check if everything is in place, and second starting time still the same.

Then, I am annoyed and exchanged in return on their original laptop processors. And both of them work fine.

So if someone has encountered this problem could you please indicate if you managed to sort it out?
What seems to be the problem, not the Satellite Map mother does'n not support 3rd generation Intel?

If so, why? Or if that would work, what should I do?

Thank you in advance!

Hello

I put t know any laptop manufacturer that officially would fund an upgrade of the CPU.
For the most current updates on laptops are your own decision and no one could provide you with a confirmation that your laptop with new processor work or run correctly.

Indeed many people try to update processors, and in many cases, it also works on Toshiba laptops.

But there are a few important notes:

(1) you must ensure that the chipset of the motherboard would support new CPU. In case it doesn't, you can not use

(2) even if the new processor would be supported by the chipset, it is still pending regarding BIOS support. BIOS is changed for each series laptop and it is possible that some processors would not fully compatible or supported by the BIOS.

As you can see, the upgrade of the CPU is not very easy and it s no matter that a laptop computer that was equipped with the same processor the L755 takes in charge the other CPU there are many more factors that could affect these updates.

  • Re: Satellite L300D-242 - CPU compatibility list

I was a big fan of toshiba with 3 in the House, but when I come to upgrade the processor, I hit the wall a little. I have the most up to bios date on my 242 l300d pslc8e-06H013EN and I thought I was not looking for a laptop, an upgrade of the processor was option right ahead.
I tried a zm-82 amd dual core as an upgrade for my TR-42, but the system does not even start.

    Q. has anyone had a successful that laptop upgrade or is there a cpu compatibility list?

Zm-82 was a tenner and I went back, but if there is a dual core I can slot, it is much cheaper to replace a good laptop.

I look forward to see if anyone has any advice.
P.s. I did research the dual core, it wasn't a random purchase.

Generally upgrade CPU on Toshiba laptops is not supported so there is no such list.
What you can find is an official document on the CPU and GPU upgrade - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

From time to time theme on CPU upgrade is very real fact on this forum, that you can try to get such threads and try to know what other people write about. Do it with advanced search option.

Let's see if anyone else has good experience with the upgrade of CPU on L300D.
He must have a platform AMD, right?

I get an error of processor compatibility.

    Intel i3 M380 2.53 GHz

    Hello

The Internet provides some details on this error message.
It seems that to install Win 8 CP the CPU must support PAE/NX/SSE2 features

Never execute Bit ([NX bit | http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NX_bit]) allows the marking of memory pages as non-executable.
Streaming SIMD Extensions 2 (SSE2) is an earlier standard that is supported by Intel and AMD CPU. This is why all processors that support NX would also support SSE2 too.

Usually, this allows the XD (for Intel processors) or NX (for AMD) in the BIOS should disable this error message.
But if it is not available in the BIOS, then either the CPU is not supported this feature or the BIOS does not support this option.

According to the page Intel Ark Intel Core i3 - 380 M supports the Execute Disable Bit feature. So maybe the BIOS does not support this feature

It seems that you have to wait for the new BIOS

  • Satellite pro M10: CPU cooler problems

    Hello
    I am using a Satellite pro M10 1.5 G.
The cooler cpu or fan, makes a strange noise. It seems that some module between the wheels of a bike. It's very annoying. The pc is not so quiet as it was before.

    What can I do?

    Hello

It sounds like there is something caught in the cooling that is contagious fans the fan blades. Visually check the fans through the aspiration air grills to see if you can see what it is.

Unfortunately access to all fans will involve some disassembly so I would try to suck debris on the grids of aspiration of fan with a vacuum cleaner.

If the problem persists, it may be necessary to take the unit to a Service Agent authorized to check/replace cooling fans.

  • Satellite M50-252 - CPU compatibility

    Hello!
Can someone help me know what CPU Satellite M50-252 (partnummer: PSM53E-02N00ZED) supports? It has a 1.4 GHz 400 MHz Celeron now... but I need to update! It's slow! :)

    Thank you! MVH qzan.

    Hello

I have goggled autour for some different models of Satellite M50 because especially the laptop series is supported by different processors. I found these compatible processors:
    ?? Intel Pentium-M Dothan 1.6 GHz, 1.73 GHz, 1.86 GHz, 2.0 GHz, 2.13 GHz
    ?? Intel Celeron-M Dothan 1.3 GHz, 1.4 GHz and 1.5 GHz

I think that this CPU can be compatible but you know; a processor with a performance more to produce more heat and sometimes, this could lead to the automatically close down.
This stop down happens due to overheating.

So I think that no one will give an appropriate response if the laptop works stable or not.
    So you can be careful.

  • Satellite L500-1XR CPU compatibility

    Dear members of the Forum!

    I have a Toshiba L500-1XR (PSLJHE-001001HU).

    Its origin comes with core i3 - 330 M (C2) CPU.
I would like to upgrade to i5 - 520 M or better CPU-that same recessed and have the same energy consumption.

    The i5 CPU, there are 2 steppings: c2, k0
    My CPU have C2 stepping.

    My question is:
2.00 BIOS supports K0 steppings CPU is that also, or - newest (?) downloadable BIOS 2.10 supports K0, step by step, or not at all?

So I can use them all, even embedded CPU, or C2 single stepping of the?

I have not found any relevant information on the internet.
Where can I find more information on changes in the BIOS?

I think you know that there are two important facts about the CPU upgrade:
The new processor must be supported by the chipset, as well as by the BIOS.

It is very easy to find support for chipsets.
The laptop was equipped with a Mobile Intel HM55 Express Chipset and support is listed on the Intel ARK page
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/43183/Intel-BD82HM55-PCH

Under compatible products, you will find that all taken chipsets supported processors

But even if the chipset would support the new processor, there is a still pending regarding BIOS support. Unfortunately, there is no information on the CPU / BIOS supports.

But to my knowledge that different models of Satellite L500 were equipped with an Intel Dual Core 2 Duo processor and Intel Penryn/Celeron CPU takes in charge.

From my point of view of the few if you want to upgrade CPU, you must choose one of the series mentioned.

But once again: can not say with certainty that this CPU would be funded.

    Hello

AFAIK the Satellite L750 series was equipped with different CPU units.
Processors supported are the port of Mobile Intel Arrandale processor family.
    The supported processors are:

    Intel Core i7 - 620 M
    Intel Core i5 - 540 M
    Intel Core i5 - 520 M
    Intel Core i5 - 450 M
    Intel Core i3 - 360 M
    Intel Core i3 - 350 M
    Intel Core i5 - 430 M
    Intel Core i3 - 330 M
    Intel Pentium P6100
    Intel Pentium P6000
    P4500 Intel (988P)

But be careful: usually updates are not supported by one of the manufacturers of mobile phones. In case you wish to perform these updates, so it is always your risk and peril.

  • Satellite A300 - new battery compatibility problem

    Hello

My apologies if this question is in the wrong part of the forum but I need help with a problem of battery for my Toshiba laptop.

I have a Satellite A300 and did it for about 4 years.
Battery recently not to organize free and put this up to age so I ordered a new online.
My previous battery had issue PA3534U-1BRS DC 10.8V and 4000 mAh and my new battery PA3534U-1BRS DC 10.8V and 4000 mAh.

The problem is that the computer does not seem to like it.
If I put the battery and connect the power adapter red battery icon will show and stay for about 5 minutes before you start to Flash.
When I turn on the computer and log on to the computer displays "battery not detected" in the battery in the tool bar icon.
I couldn't so far to charge the battery.

What I am doing wrong? Any ideas on how I can get around this?

    Any help gratefully received

    Thank you

    Hello

First of all there are no many things that must be done if you replace the battery.
The new battery should be automatically recognized by laptop and the Windows System.
If it s not the case, then the battery is not completely compatible or malfunctioning.

There are several batteries on the market; origin and original parts parts
I recommend buying an original Toshiba Toshiba service block in your country.
In this case, you can be sure that you bought a fair and good share for your laptop to 100%.

    Hi mate

    I agree with Akuma.
Update CPU is very difficult. The fact is that even if the chipset would support the new processor, it is really hard to tell if the BIOS would be able to manage the new processor.

So, in the worst cases, the BIOS will not work with a new game and wouldn't boot the laptop.

But why you want to replace the CPU in L755? This new model of notebook with a good processor.
Even if you want to put a new processor, you will not notice big performance push so I think CPU upgrade is not really necessary in your case.

  • Satellite A105-S2141 - software compatibility problem Modem region

    Hello!
I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S2141 computer laptop bought in the United States. I am currently in a small country knowm as "Maldives" and unable to successfully connect and use the modem connection.

The selection of region internal modem utility does not include the Maldives in the list and if I select a random country as "current location" I can connect only if I keep the speed of the modem at 2400. What should do? I tried the upgrade, but no uogrades are available. Other computers can connect normally on the same telephone line.

Kindly advice. Is there another available modem which can be downloaded? Any other loophole?

    Hello

You don't need to use this utility select region of preinstalled modem.
You can choose the Maldives using own settings of Windows.

Choose Control Panel-> Phone & Modem Options->-> my position (Edit button)-> country (Maldives) dialing rules

On the Modem tab, you can choose the modem you are using and can check the properties. Here, you can set the maximum port to a higher speed.

Cheers and enjoy yourself on Maldives... big Islands... I wish that I would have enough time and money for the holiday he...

  • Compaq 500 b memory and CPU compatibility problem

I have a Compaq 500 b MT, that came from the factory with 1 GB of RAM and a processor Intel Celeron E3200 CPU.  I upgraded my memory to two sticks of 2 GB Kingston DDR3 1600 RAM, which worked perfectly for a while.  I then upgraded my CPU to an Intel Pentium E6500 CPU processor (supported), and when the start he gave me a code beep RAM (1 short, 1 long, 3 second pause) error.  I bought 2 sticks of memory PNY thinking I have fried my other sticks.  Same beep code.

To make a long story short, I tried all possible combinations of the two processors and the three types of memory. The only time wherever I could get the Pentium E6500 to start was with the factory installed 1 GB memory.  It would give errors of memory with any of the other 2 GB sticks, even when considered individually.  Celeron CPU works very well with them.

Is there something that I need in order to get the E6500 working with sticks of 2 GB of RAM?

When you updated the modules of memory did you some they are guaranteed compatible? This isn't an amateur PC equipped of a BIOS level that allows for flexibility in the choice of primary and secondary memory sync settings and take. This means that it is essential that one chooses to upgrade memory that meets the criteria specified in the image below. Otherwise, the way the easiest way to upgrade is to buy only compatible memory guaranteed of leading manufacturers of memory.

When I search for Compaq 500 b MT I come with a desktop PC. Is this correct? You posted in the notebook section, perhaps by mistake. If you will check, I can move this correct place.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite L755-128 stop without reason

Problem #1 when I play games after 30 to 60 minutes pc closed down and power led + battery led flashes orange

Problem #2 a few times locking digital LEDs have a variable glow is like a light bulb that receive the variable power.

Example of battery problem #3 issue 1: turn on with battery inside "pluged, no charging current" stops after 10-15 mins, DC led and power led blinking orange
example 2: power on without battery after battery "pluged in charge", but after 10-15 minutes, stop, DC led and power led blinks orange (the battery is not hot to touch) battery is 6-7 months old
Only way to use the laptop is on DC without battery or only DC

The only way to recharge the battery comes from disablyng the 'compatible microsoft ACPI control method battery' Manager of devices and from time to time allow him to see the procent charging.

Sorry for my bad English, hope you understand.

In my opinion, there are too many problems with your laptop and you should contact the nearest Toshiba authorized service provider and ask for help. I'm sure that your laptop has still warranty valid so why spend your time on the forums and search for a solution to these problems that probably cannot be solved without checking the material. It must be hardware so there is nothing you can do about the problems.

Communicate with the service, to explain the situation and they will help you with this.
