Satellite L840: Win 8.1 installed as 1 BONE but does not start correctly

I have a problem with my new L840 Satellite

Next steps on installing Windows 8, 1 and in the process, he said on-screen that download to update and restart just stays on the screen with circles of loading windows...

How can I go to the BIOS? Tried F2, INS F2, F2 - F8 it does not work...

> It just on windows with the circles of loading screen stays...
What happens if you put the device by pressing and holding the button walk / stop?
The laptop boot?

To access the BIOS, you must press F2 to turn on/off the unit.
Note: the laptop must be turned off completely in order to access the BIOS. 8.1 Win usually enters the hybrid shutdown mode that is NOT the real stop

  • Satellite A300 - rotates but does not start

    Hello

I have a Satellite A300. I had several probems for the boot since 2 months ago: when I want to turn on my laptop, it turns on but the screen keeps black and it does not load the screen "Toshiba Leading Innovation". 'Satellite' (to the left of the mouse) light is on (it would go only about a second then to start and then turn off) and it will turn off.

I try again for so many times with all the possibilities: without battery, only with the power adapter, two, but it does not start. I don't know what I can do. I always Hibernate my laptop because I'm afraid of can not start it the next day.

Could you help me? If she cares: I had to buy a new battery (not original from Toshiba) because I had to change the original. No more changes to my laptop.

Thank you very much and sorry for my English written: S

    Hey Buddy,

    > I had to buy a new battery (not original from Toshiba) because I had to change the original. No more changes to my laptop.
Of course, it s always advisable using Toshiba original spare parts only, but if you notice the same problem with AC adapter only it s not related to the new battery.

Just to make a better diagnosis: If you have connected an external monitor? The internal display is perhaps the problem and doesn't turn on and it would be useful if you are testing the situation and an external monitor.

But this noise as a hardware problem serious and in this case, you can wait to contact an authorized service provider. Technicians professional diagnostic tools to make an accurate diagnosis and to Exchange defective equipment parts.

  • Satellite C650 - Windows does not start correctly

I have a Satellite C650, who does not start, when it lights there are two options, Startup Repair launch which leads to a black screen and mobile arrow, the screen remains like that until you turn it off the button stop (seriously ive left for about 10 hours). The other option is to start windows normally resulting in a blue screen and the laptop restarts itself.

Help me please, make things worse I can't find the box that it came in which contains the guarantee and recovery disc

    Hey Buddy,

You can start your laptop in safe mode? This means that if you press the F8 key before Windows starts and you choose Safe mode can you start Windows?

If this isn't the case I think that it s something wrong with your Windows installation and that's why you need to use the Toshiba Recovery disk to restore to factory settings.

  • Satellite Pro L850-1DW does not start correctly

    Hello

    I have a client who has a L850-1DW / PSKDHE-00E005EN laptop.

She keeps pointing out that the computer does not start successfully from the cold.
She argues that the question arises mainly when the battery starts but sometimes when it is plugged into the mains.
I can see where point of newspapers that BSOD were registered at the start and that, on more than one occasion, his computer was recovered from a restore of Windows. He has also recovered factory once too.

Although I've seen the consequences of these issues of "start-up" I have yet to experience first hand with the device.

I noticed yesterday that the BIOS is outdated (as I had an alert Tempro).
    I upgraded from 1.6 to 6.50. Yet once, I didn't have problems.
I can't find the release notes for the BIOS so I don't know if this is a known problem that has been fixed.
I don't know if this "intermittent" defect is just that or if the user has the power button down too hard or for too long and in fact inadvertently crashing NB itself.

    Any suggestion is welcome.

Otherwise, I guess I have to connect a call with Toshiba.

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here. In my opinion, you should ask your client if you can make the data backup and install original recovery image. To my laptop computer reviews must be tested with the settings without installation of additional software.

    > I don't know if this "intermittent" defect is just that or if the user has the power button down too hard or for too long and in fact inadvertently crashing NB itself.
Who knows? Ask your client and show how to start the laptop by pressing the button walk / stop. It must be done slowly and for only one second.

  • How to install Ubuntu for PowerEdge 1850 - updated: installed, but does not start?

I recently got a used PowerEdge 1850 (BIOS A04 version) without OS, with plans to install Ubuntu Server. I read that you can boot from a flash drive USB for it, so I used a tool to make a 8 GB USB 2.0 flash drive bootable for installing the operating system. I put USB drive on auto emulation and the USB controller on with BIOS support. In the order of start, emulated floppy USB drive has been updated with the top priority. The flash player has been connected to the USB port right front, with a keyboard at the front left, if it matters.

When I turn it on with this set all when it reaches the last line ("press CTRL-E to enter the BMC configuration within 5 seconds," without any player flash it just says only: "boot device available" at this stage "), it does nothing. Just on a blank line, no error or anything. I know that it did not freeze because underscore flashing. By pressing a button any will result in a single beep, same F2 to enter the BIOS setup.

There are 73 GB HARD drive at location 0 (left), nothing in the Slot 1 (right) and 4 GB of RAM. No material inside has changed.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong? If I just have something wrong set, can you give me instructions step by step from scratch (that is, a blank flash drive/CD and ISO downloaded), or at least point me in the right direction to correctly set up the flash player if it is the problem?

EDIT: All right. Ignore my next post in the thread. I'll post if no new complication.

    Roadsguy
It still hangs on the last line in the commissioning after the line 'Press CTRL-E to installation of BMC', with the blinking underscore, so I know that it is not frozen.

It is bootable media and try to boot from it. It seems that the bootstrapper does not initialize correctly. I would suggest reformatting and reinstallation of the operating system again. The question is not hardware related. You can try another version of Ubuntu.

    Thank you

  • Satellite A500-148 turns on but does not start

Hi all, I have a Satellite A500-148 from a friend who asked me to take a peek, it turns on, but does boot when I press the following power button occurs:
-The power button and the charger are on and the hdd led only flashes once
-The fan comes on for about 3 seconds
-No image on the screen, I indicated a light against it, but there is really no image

Tried to reset by pressing the button for 30 seconds without the changer is plugged.

I disassembled it and noticed that this laptop has an external video card, so my question is, who's broken the video card or the motherboard.

    Thank you

To be honest I don't understand this with an external video card. Can you describe how you mean exactly?
In any case, on this virtual path, it is not easy to offer the exact diagnosis. You can try the little test and remove this external adapter, RAM and HARD disk, and try to start again.

Ask your friend if he had something that may be responsible for this.

One last thing: laptop stays in r might have turned off after a certain time?

  • Satellite C600 does not start correctly

I seem to have committed the cardinal sin of being too eager on the initial commissioning. I had 4g RAM installed at purchase (yesterday).
At startup, I selected Windows 64-bit and sat down to wait for the entire boot process to happen.

I got the message "Recover files", but after 2 hours, nothing was.
The progress bar had not moved and he had no hard disk activity. I hit 'Cancel' and turns off the machine.

Now, he's not beyond commissioning before giving me an error message.
    I was too impatient?

    I can't recover from this?

    Hello

You have upgraded the RAM and since the laptop start correctly?
Have you tested if the laptop could properly initialize without the new inserted RAM?
Please check this because I think the issues is related to the new RAM and probably the phone should start without the new RAM modules.

  • Satellite A10 - does not start correctly

I have a Satellite A10 and I can't start even last known good configuration or in safe mode does not work and if it starts it will take much time but a blue screen appears and indicates that an error has occurred and prevent any damage on the hard disk.
I put in the recovery cd, but I do not have the cause of xp, it is said start windows 98 but im on a xp pro I got when I bought the laptop. So, if any of it can help?

    HI Johan,.

If you are unable to boot from your hard drive, then your only other option will be to boot from a CD-ROM.

Most of the commercially available backup utilities (Norton Ghost, Acronis True Image, etc.) include such a bootable CD. Supplied with your laptop product recovery CD is very probably a stripped down version of Norton Ghost, which is specifically designed to format your hard drive and then restore an image of 'Phantom' of the original OEM software.

It is quite possible for your hard drive to be damaged and have still LED lights when it is accessed. The damage might be the physical mechanism of the player, or the lining of the surface of the platters etc.. A CD bootable one of backup utilities will probably include a version of CHKDSK, you can run to test the integrity of your hard drive. Norton, for example, include a copy of Disk Doctor.

If you have a copy of the original Windows installation CD, you can boot from that in the recovery console and try to repair what is damaged on your hard drive, assuming that the problem is that the damaged or missing files. In principle, you can use the XP Home Edition CD to do this only if the damaged files are not specific to XP Pro to which cases they will not on HE drive.

  • Satellite A660-155 freezes and needs of startup repair or does not start

Hello, in the middle of the month of August, I bought a satellite a660-155, PSAW0E-00U00DEN S/N 5A214647K.
It is registered under warranty until the Aug2011.
After less than a week, it refused to start.
I rang support and they recommended that I use the recovery discs to restore to factory condition. I did and spent the next 3 nights reload software and my backup disk data.

Since then he refuses sometimes to start the hard drive with a relative error that it cannot rfind and then ask which drive to boot from. If I select the hard drive, it starts later. Sometimes when running he crashes and then restarts.

Last night, after that it had not been used for a few days, I woke up he "sleep" mode. I logged on okay, but then the blue logo 'circly' comes on, spinning away happily, and nothing else (just for logging on the text). After 30 minutes, I pressed the power button to turn off because the cell phone was totally insensitive.
On commissioning, I got a white screen for 30 minutes, then the Startup Repair option.
I launched it and check start lasted almost an hour and an hour, then he said, trying to repair. After a few hours, I left and went to bed. This morning, he showed the guest of logon and connected properly, as if nothing had ever happened.

I lost confidence in Toshiba laptops, (I am responsible for computer SCIENCE) and I've never seen this problem before on a so-called quality machine. I only ise it fot simple e-mail/internet/word documents.

All I can conclude is that there is little material defective (hard drive) that stops responding intermittently.

I sent support at 07:00 this morning, but have not had a response.

Can you help me? This machine needs ideally replace or repair collection, back in working condition 100% reliable. Could someone please contact me to see where I go from here?
Under the law of consumption, you have a duty to rectify my sad situation, that the flaw exists again.

    Thank you

    Thanks for the info!
Seems to replace the HARD drive would solve!

  • After installing antimalware doctor, tried to restart, but does not start...

.. .He is as file system of the disk is not recognized never gets to a point where I can enter in F8 safe mode. The drive is recognized in the BIOS and diagnosis Seatools says its OK. Use a LiveCD of ubuntu, I can access the drive and see the file system. Tries to start on a Windows XP CD to the recovery console to run chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr etc., says it cannot detect a hard drive. Can anyone help?

Certainly, you have a SATA hard drive.  The original Windows XP CD does not include a driver for the SATA drives (Ubuntu and the BIOS most recent do).  When you boot from your Windows XP CD, you will probably come to a point where it asks you to press F6 to install additional drivers.  Here's where you need to press F6 and then install a floppy with the SATA drivers on them.  If you do not have a floppy drive, things get complicated, you may need to create a XP CD slipstreamed with the pre-installed drivers.  You can probably find the SATA drivers from the Web site of the manufacturer of your computer or the drive manufacturer's Web site.

"Limited OEM driver support is available with F6 during installation of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003"

If I were you at this point, I would be your drive Ubuntu allows you to save your data from hard drive on a USB drive or a network drive, and then reinstall Windows.  You can probably press a combination of keys very early in the boot process before the Windows startup that will render your machine on the condition that bought from a recovery hard disk partition.  This is a radical step, but you might find it faster to attempt recovery.  Check the Web site of the manufacturer of your computer for a user manual for your computer that describes how to do this.

    Hey Buddy,

Hmm... I think it sounds like a hardware malfunction and Windows installation should not affect the start-up of the laptop. Right now equipment is checked and starts and it has nothing to do with the version of Windows installed.
