Satellite L850-E8S - shutdown problems

Hello everyone

I bought Toshiba Satellite L850-E8S with Windows 8.0 (for a single language) preinstalled in October 2013. At the moment I can't get stop normally.

Question: * pressing Shutdown (stop) of charms goes up "Windows is shutting down" and after that the screen turns off but power light is lit and the fan keeps operate.* I stop it by pressing the power button, I really want to quit smoking. (Once I didn't notice that and put the laptop in a bag for a few hours and it of a miracle that no equipment would have been burnt, despite the laptop was hot like the Sun) * the problem started after a month of use, and I didn't think her yet.*

First of all, I thought that the case concerns him * hybrid Shutdown in the Win8. I have visited many forums dedicated for hybrid stop, proven fruitless discussions. *! AND! I had the same problem on my laptop with a slight difference - loading Win7 and Linux * the monitor stays on (with the lights and the fan on either). *
Moreover, I also saw a BSOD after a day I bought the laptop. This problem concerned Realtek Audio driver and SRS Premium sound. As I understood the question is drivers conflict. Right now I have no installed Audio SRS premium and see no BSOD, but Realtek audio driver is not stable: the sound either begins to work in a few minutes after starting windows or it does'nt work at all.

First of all, I wish really that someone to help me with the shutdown problem. All tips are welcome.

  • Satellite L850-147 - Audio problem with output jack and balance

    Hi all

When I plug in my headset on my laptop (Satellite L850-147) and try to listen to music, I hear music (instrumental parts)... by far, I can hear the voice of the singer.

I found a turnaround with the adjustment of balance in realtek HD audio manager 100% or 100% left...
But this isn't the way that music have to play...

I have reinstalled the Realtek HD Audio Manager but without success...
    Any idea?

    Thank you

    Hello

And have you checked the settings in the software you use to play the sounds?
Of course the Realtek HD audio Manager supports the sound configurations and you can change different sound effects such as environment and Equalizer but the same or similar options are supported by each software reading and I also recommend to check this!

By the way: Toshiba laptops are pre-installed with a HD Audio SRS Premium application. To access this, go to:
Start-> all programs-> SRS Lams-> SRS Premium Sound Technology
Here, you will also get some options that could be interesting for you.

    Also recommend checking Audio improve
Make a right click on the icon of speakers in the taskbar then on playback-> speakers devices->, click Properties
On the development tab, select the sound effect you want and click on apply.

  • Satellite L850 - charger / battery problems, not normal...

    Hi all.

First post and all, I had a glance through to see if I can find my particular problem, and I don't think I can.

I posted this in another sub-forum, but then realized it's here... oops!

A L850. It will work fine on battery, but only supplies not the charger cable. Helpfully, a colleague also has an another L850 (I bought two together) so I can charge my battery of separately in his machine.

If I start the machine on a charged battery, it works fine. If you connect then the power adapter, the led is lit on the front of the machine, but it's clearly not load the machine works until the battery is flat and then turns off and will not turn on back until you charge the battery apart and put it back in.

Whenever the machine is powered, it also complains that the RTC battery is flat, and you will need to set the time in the BIOS. It is the coin cell CR2032 internally on the motherboard isn't?

what I don't understand, is that the unit understands clearly that the charger is plugged, as seers to say it is the battery. Except that it isn't, and is not to be unity. Œuvres battery for about 40 minutes of our days, after that, dead machine.

Any ideas? I suppose that there is something wrong with the internal charging circuit, but the fact that the LED lights up when it is plugged suggests otherwise...

    Thanks for all the ideas.

    David.

More information on this type of bit. When it is plugged in, the icon on the screen says "Plugged in, charge", but battery icon animates not charging about 10 seconds, then stops, and battery is clearly not charge as % drops away slowly.

I found a Google one of them is the "remove all, hold for 30 seconds, reconnect power. This made no difference. I also found advice to uninstall the battery from the device manager driver software and allow it to re - install. This done, still no different.

I got the hard drive and in a USB enclosure to retrieve all my files and am doing the 'factory restore' option I think that this is a restore hard disk partition. This work is far away, but in my opinion, is still running on battery only, so do not know if this is going to end!

When I stopped the lap top, it stops and then restarts automatically? Everybody suffers the same symptoms? How can it be resolved? For example: is there a setting I can change etc any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but you need to do something wrong. Can you please describe what you do exactly and which keys you use to stop?

  • Satellite M40 startup / shutdown problems!

For almost 3 months now, my Satellite M40 * don't power up * unless it is completely and absolutely * cold *. It freezes at the beginning.

Every time I have shut down or restart my laptop, I have to wait about 25 minutes, so I can start it up again. What is happening is stops at the "* Toshiba" logo * screen, from the beginning and he * gel *. I have to press the power button until it turns the power off.

It's a fact: the laptop is * NOT * extremely hot. Its temperatures are * regular *, I've been monitoring for some time now. If overheating is not the problem here.

-It also won't stop; it freezes again in the * ' Windows is shutting down * ' display messages... and it freezes.

-I know that another user of this forum who has had the same problem, but access to its wire has alleged that closed just because some have said of him/her to format and install the OS again. This is * NOT * a software problem! I have tried myself, for all its worth.

-Today I have updated the * BIOS * also, it has not solved anything.

So, knowing that I'm not the only one to have this kind of trouble with M40, what to do? Just buy a new one after 2 years?

    Hello Ricardo

Let's be realistic. It is really possible that software is not the problem but tell me please what you can do in such situation. Not much. In another thread, the guy wrote quite reasonable notice. All you can do is make clean OS install and hope it helps.

I agree with you that problem described is certainly hardware related issue but you can not do much and portable must be verified by the service. Using specific diagnostic tools, they can say with certainty what can be the problem.

I don't really understand your last sentence. To be honest on this forum I have seen similar topics but unrelated to the M40 and it's really pointless to understand as untimely M40.

  • Satellite L850 - weird noise problem (not events)

    Hello

I have a weird problem with my laptop. Since a few days, my laptop started to make a little noise from the base of the laptop.
I care because during the day I don't even notice, but now (it's 05:00)
Clearly, I hear a noise coming from the base.

It has not happened before and I don't know what could be, because the strangest thing is that, according to Toshiba Health Monitor, fan is 0% (because I'm on mode eco and do nothing to do) and the CPU is at 48th. As you can imagine, my laptop is far from heating.

Then, where this noise could come from?
Now, I know that this isn't the ventilation openings, but something inside the laptop (maybe HARD drive?)

And I'm confident in the vents because the vents start to operate when I load a movie or game, and when start knocking noise that I do not speak of persists.

It's not embarrassing, because I have to be in complete silence to hear it. As I said, I don't notice the noise when it is diurnal, and I could live with it, but not knowing this noise source makes me a bit paranoid. I bought a month ago, so I don't think that I have to clean.

    Thank you.

On this virtual path, it is not easy to tell where the noise is coming so if you want to solve this problem I think you should bring to the nearest post of Toshiba and the guy there it should check. Guarantee is valid if repairs must be free.

Can you tell us what part of your laptop is this noise?

  • Satellite L850 - cannot play Minecraft - graphics driver problem

    Hello

I have a Satellite L850 with this specs: Intel Core i7 3630QM with an AMD Radeon HD7670M and 8 64-bit windows.
I installed the latest drivers display amd by toshiba Web site and java 64 bit.

Walker I launch Minecraft is as usual, but when I click on connection a black screen stands for awhile, then the failure Message screen comes and it means something like this:

    Bad video card drivers!

Minecraft could not start because it did not find an accelerated OpenGL mode.

Generally, this can be corrected by updating the video card drivers.

So I hope that you are able to help me.
I've already spent many hours to fix it, but nothing works
    :(

In this game forum, you can find several discussions on the problems in playing Classic.
All cases have been resolved by the update of the graphics card driver.

To my knowledge, the driver of Toshiba page does not contain the OpenGL but DirectX (of Microsoft)

Then maybe you will need to install the driver of an another 3rd party sources
Your laptop supports the AMD (ATI) graphics chip?
Well, in this case, you could test a driver of omegadrivers.net but the use of this driver is your own risk, don't know if it will work stable

  • Satellite L850 - 12 H - notification problem fan

    Hello

    I have a Satellite L850 - 12H.

I bought it almost two years ago and at the beginning I had some problems of fan.

After I started there was a message telling me that the cooling system had been damaged and that I should contact Toshiba support so that it can be fixed.

After I pressed Ok on this message my fan would go close to 100%, which was a pretty annoying sound but the machine was always cool and never had any performance issues.

There are tho, the message is stopped and now im stuck with the fan works once every 5 minutes that is bad cause I use this laptop mainly for games and im get FPS quite low, even when the games are set on high performance and low "eye-candy".

Is it possible that I can bring this message back, or even manually the fan start and stop when I need it?

    Thanks in advance.

As I know there is no way to get this message on the screen.
This notification if a problem with a module of cooling would be detected.
What you can do is to change the cooling mode in the Windows power options.

I guess that you are still using Windows 7 OS pre-installed.

  • Satellite L850-18 t has problems to connect to new wireless router

    Hello

I have a serious question that, at the present time, he cannot know. Basically 2 days ago I bought a new router because the other more old has stopped working. And I bought Tenda router. Since that day I have problems connecting with my Toshiba Satellite L850-18 t - I have never had similar problems before.

I put the security of the router for wpa - psk with aes encriptación mode option. The laptop connected and worked fine, but the next day, he has not suddenly connect more. So I went to check the option, everything was allright. Troubleshooting gave me the following error: "problem with wireless adapter or access point. I tried to reboot wlan driver, but nothing happened. The only thing that seems to help is to change the security WPA2-PSK mode (or vice versa), restart my laptop and it connects then.

Anyone have some clue what happens? It must be something with my laptop settings, because all other devices (another computer toshiba laptop but older, a PC and android devices) work perfectly.

    Among the specifics on laptop:

What I see is that we have same wireless Chipset, Tenda use Ralink or Broadcom chipsets, which are compatible with our wifi cards, then I would tell you my opinion do 1st updated drivers on your laptop, I use the latest x 64 win10, atheros version drivers 10.0.0.326, then go and upgrade your routers firmware! • Satellite L850-12U: various annoying problems

    Hello

I have some problems with my laptop Toshiba Satellite L850-12U, purchased 550 on Grosbill in September. It is under warranty!

-Bad contact of the battery to the battery can disconnect a moment at any time (a simple light touch is necessary to reconnect). When I'm on this sector is no problem, but when I am on battery so he can break any time...

-I happened to have had the fan goes crazy and/or a message ' warning system: Please turn off the computer and return it.

-Startup problems: at one time I often had a crash initially followed a reboot via the Backup Wizard, this also happened to have a reboot loop.

I would return the PC to the fast service?
When the service will solve my problem?
Until the end of June, I have no PC to help me, if the repair takes time I have to wait until June to get back...
    Thanks in advance

P.S: Sorry for my English, I'm French and I use GoogleTrad

    > I would return the PC to the fast service?
In my opinion, yes the battery loose contacts is definitely a hardware problem.
So in my opinion it has to be verified by the service agent

    > What time the service will solve my problem?
Do you not think that members of the community don't know how long a service needs to fix this? Why you n t contact the ASP in your country and ask for details

  • Satellite L850 - display problems external 1080 p

I did turn my laptop Satellite L850 via HDMI to an external monitor without problem for many months.

A couple of weeks, I tried to update the catalyst driver and have had problems since.
Basically now when I select mode 1080 p via the Catalyst Control Panel, it makes the screen flash and present vertical lines.

Occasionally, it will work for a short time, even up to a full day and it will randomly start once again. I can play a game in 1080 p mode and it will be totally random, sometimes which allows me to play for hours without having the screen flashes black while the other times, it starts flashing constantly and the only way to fix it is to reboot or pull the HDMI cable and plug back and cross your fingers you have enough time to reopen the catalyst and change in 720 p which is always stable.

    I tried:

1 using the AMD catalyst removal tool and resettlement through the catalyst of origin Toshiba drivers factory default
    2. use to restore the system to go back before I made the changes
3 using the removal tool from AMD Catalyst and update to the latest version via the site Web of AMD.
4 reinstall my chipset with #1 drivers
5 tried another monitor (still happens)

On a side note, whenever I use the removal tool it removes my USB drivers too and I have to reinstall.

The current graphics driver is AMD Radeon HD 7670 M and I also tried the solution on here http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/item/781 tech support forum.

I ran out of options other than a full format and reinstall I want to avoid if possible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

The AMD Catalyst (control software) update would not solve the issue.
You need to update the graphics driver too!
The graphics card driver can be uninstalled in Device Manager!

I found also this Toshiba document to similar topic which appeared after the phone woke from sleep mode.
[After sleep mode, a distorted image or a split screen may be displayed: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB3903IB0000R01.htm]

This problem was caused by the display AMD. V9.12.0.0 driver, which was automatically installed through the Windows Update feature.

Download and install the driver of Toshiba page of European driver that should solve the issue of the line

  • Satellite L850: Windows 8 error - 'PC hit a problem... ". »

    Hello.

I bought a portable Satellite L850, used it for about 2 hours. Next time I booted up it, the error ""restart your PC on a problem and needs. " We are only collecting information, and then we will restart for you. (0% complete) "in a blue screen appeared.

He gave me two options using the F8 key, has nothing; He blinked only screen when I pressed the F8 key or any other key F for all that matters.

Changing the boot in the bios options, I was able to boot a Windows 7 DVD booteable, and to my surprise, I found that the hard drive had no partitions... at all (when it should be 2 maybe 3 partitions and a space law?).

Of course, I could not also burn the recovery DVDs because I could not go back to windows, and when I tried to boot from an overview of client Windows 8 DVD, the same error occurred, over and over again.

I now use the computer under Windows 7 I have installed, but I would definitely come back the origin of windows 8 copy supplied with the computer... or at least be able to maybe install another copy of Windows 8 of my own.

Somebody help me, I would really appreciate it.

Sorry if my English is not good enough, it isn't my mother tongue.

    Hello

I think that you have installed Win 7 on the HARD drive. Right?
This means that Win 8 is no longer available looks like you couldn't create the recovery disk containing 8 win too so I don't see an option for you allow to win 8:
You must order the disk recovery from here:
    http://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

But a question remains open: why the BSOD appeared?
It could be a problem of system or a hardware problem, but I can't say with certainty what's exactly wrong according to me, you will need to contact a service if the installation of Win 8 can not fix this
