  My pc worked fine months ago, but after an update to Vista, all of a sudden it started not to display what whether at start-up.

  Monitor work, Vista loads, because I can hear the opening melody of the speakers.

  Remove the Vista updates; two ways to do this:

  1. a System Restore to before the updates:

  Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > System Restore > restore time/choose your own date > next

  If you use Norton, disable it before using the system restore.

  If it is impossible to enter the Normal Mode, do a Safe Mode system restore:

  Press F8 at the startup/power and the list of startup options, use THE ARROW key to select Safe mode > and then press ENTER.

  Is your system error free?

  To access the system log, select Start, Control Panel, administrative tools, Event Viewer, in the list on the left of the window select Windows and the system logs. Place the cursor on the system, right click and select filter current log. Check the front of the error and click OK and see you only reports errors. Click header to sort on the Date and time. You may need to click a second time to see the last report above.
   
  A tip for posting copies of error reports! Run Event Viewer and double-click the error you want to copy. In the window, you will see a button resembling two pages. Click on the button and close Event Viewer. Now start your message and paste it into the body of the message. Make sure that it is the first dough right out of the event viewer.

  This freeware utility performs a similar function to the Windows Task Manager, but it goes much further.

  In process Explorer, please add a column. Select View, Select, columns, process, performance, and check the box before the start time.   On my Windows 7 machine, the first point I see is smss.exe = Manager of Session. You should then see a long list of items over a short period of time to load. The boot process is not responding on my computer with two files AVG loading (my anti-virus is AVG 10. Before these two files is a file uns.exe that loaded this morning 2 minutes and 20 seconds after smss.exe. USN.exe is a file of Intel, so may not be on your computer.

  Computer portable Satellite to my son kept totally extinguish up to 20 times a day, so I tried to do a re-installation using the recovery CD offered 2.
  I put the laptop to boot from the CD and followed the instructions on the screen to a complete reinstallation hoping that that would solve its problems.

  The 1st CD gets only around 15% and the laptop turns off completely new.
  I tried now must be 10 times and once get on CD 2, but even once, it crashed before finished.
