Satellite M100 Track Pad failure

I recently performed a 'factory restore' on a Satellite M100 (with Vista Home Basic Edition).

It was hoped that this process would solve one issue was the recent failure of the functionality of the "pad".
It doesn't happen if the problem persists.

The customer is using currently a "Belkin" USB optical mouse instead, and it works without any problem.

In the BIOS - I couldn't find any settings that can affect the Trackpad.
Investigation on Device Manager"- no conflict appears and a consistent"HID"device as well as the mouse (which seems to have"captured"a PS/2 port) appears.
Investigation on the 'Control Panel' - under input devices, the management software for both a mouse AND trackpad are indicated.

It seems that the 'Trackpad' has been 'disabled' somehow but I can't locate where or how that could be done.

What Miss me?

Try to press Fn + F9 to toggle the mouse.

If its still does not (and considering that you have completed the recovery), and then the Touchpad may be replaced.

    Hello Wayne

In front of me, I have Satellite P500 and I use it almost 10 months now without a single update. What I'm updating are important updates from Microsoft. More than that and so far I didn't notice a single hardware or software problem.
After reading your ad m a little confused.

I downloaded a program called Hiren Boot Cd and I he burned on a Cd and then I ran it if the 221 m100, then I loaded Windows XP Mini. I went into my computer and I don't because my partition B called drive Ram Toshiba himself. Where is my C partition? What happened to my PC? I think that the hard disk is dead. Is it?

    Hi lekhB,

    > I think the hard drive is dead. Is it?
Is that the HARD drive is listed in the BIOS?

If this isn't the case, it seems that the HARD drive is faulty, but in General, the PXE message means that an incorrect boot order is set.

  • Satellite M100-126 - Win 7 32 bit indicates 'only' 3 GB of memory usable

    Hello

    Here's the situation:

    I have a Toshiba satellite M100-126 (PSMA1E - 0PV021FR) running Windows 7 32 bit.
He had originally 2gigs of Ram, but after that my brother's cell phone broke down (motherboard failure) I took his 2x2gig of ram and installed in my laptop.

Initially, the BIOS detected only 3gig, so I flashed the bios than that recommended by the Toshiba Download Center, i.e. v 3.0, http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/eula/calleula.asp?ID=66238 direct link (if it works). There is also a version 5.6, only for Vista, but I did not use that one.

For now: the bios detects 4gigs and Windows, but windows says 'only' memory usable 3gigs.
Windows resource allocation, 1gig is 'reserved material', so this memory usable 3gig. If I replace one of the modules by a 1gig module 2 giga, I get only 2 MB of the reserved equipment, and 3 gigs installed memory are usable...

    Here are the questions now:
I am aware of the limit of memory for 32-bit systems, and that I won't be able to use the full 4gigs of anyway, but my brother got 3.5 GB of memory can be used on 32-bit system... Is it

    Hello

Win 32 bit can allocate only 3.2 GB (not 3.5 GB)
It is the limitation of all 32-bit operating systems.
I put t see any problems here the BIOS detects 4 GB of RAM. It s ok.
Windows can use 3 GB only because the other party is used by the graphics card.

The GPU can share a part of the main memory too and it also depends on the available main memory.

    Good bye

  • Question camera & Modem pointing Satellite M100

I have the Satellite M100 with Vista operating systems. When I changed the operating system a few days ago, there was a lot of drivers that have not yet been installed...
Then I downloaded & installed the drivers from this site...

But even now, there are 2 drivers that might not be installed correctly: * POINTANT DEVICE * (I can't use the mouse, but my touch pad works) & * MODEM DEVICE ON HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO BUS * (I can not connect to the internet via dial-up modem)

Any ideas how to solve this problem? Thanx before...

Pointing device, I think you need to install the chipset drivers and check again, if you have installed any drivers, amenities and followed the installation instructions.

For Modem device, what you should you ensure you installed KB888111, KB835221. His work?
    Installed all Windows updates?

  • Satellite M100-221: Solution Possible BSOD / sound + mouse problem

    Hi all!

Recently my Satellite M100-221 started crashing and freezing, so I reinstalled Windows XP.
However, some problems are still recurring.
First, before posting that, I browsed all the forum and found a few questions from people who are experiencing a BSOD (blue screen).

I solved this problem by removing HWSetup programe of PC (because, as he wrote on the blue screen, its driver was causing a problem).
All who have this problem should consider all the software Toshiba, because maybe this is the reason.

    However, I have 2 questions.
First of all, which is my mouse (and touchpad too) just occasionally freezes for a second.
I tried different mouse - but it's the same thing. (It may not be the connected with the performance of the CPU, because before the re - install XP, I didn't have the problem).

And secondly is connected with sound - noise from time to time (whether it be the music play or simply 'click' sound effect) freezes just - which makes the periodical "trtrtrttrtr" - like sound))) that the two problems are so boring - because you just can't help the note!

I've got drivers provided by Toshiba - maybe the problem is with them?
So should what drivers I expect?

    Please, someone, help!

I solved the problems and it took almost two days to determine what the problem is.
Well, I read a lot of discussion on the failures of sounds, mouse freeze and so on. But there is always only one advice: updating drivers, BIOS, etc, etc. After two days, I have updated all the drivers on my laptop, updated the BIOS and fact repeatedly - but all that was * _completely useless_ *.
I've got Intel Centrino Duo processor - so I started to experiment with a single core enabled - play music and watch videos and watch to the works of the processor. According to the process manager, got processor loaded at 50-60% of its power every 2-4 dry. And it turns out to be Hotkey.exe! Toshiba utility! This means that software of Toshiba's just unnecessary powerful processors, because this software is completely unprofessional. I have nothing against Toshiba - laptops are one of the best, but they should at least try their own software before distributing it with their PC.
So I guess some problems with your laptop, mates, can be solved by turning off unnecessary all software and utilities Toshiba - just them clear in the automatic boot menu.
    Good luck!

  • Track Pad problem end 2008 Mackbook Pro

    Hi all

I was wondering if someone could help me,

I have a mackbook 2008 end pro works great, however I have a problem with my track pad, which is a gift from my head in. IM using my mac now fine no problem however when I stop and start it upward a day later the touchpad is not responding. What I do is taken to the back of the case where the battery is and remove the 8 screws, I see that the ribbon cable is constantly of the touchpad, so I need to keep undoing the screws and re connect which is a pain. My question is how I g to get one of these and are they easy to set up. How do I know that this will not happen?

Of which detaches, attached photos I reconnect

I hope someone could help me on this issue as its been done for centuries and is such a pain.

    Thank you is all

To replace this cable, you must replace the trackpad itself.

This can be a painful process because you almost remove all to remove the trackpad. I guess that there is a way to fix the cable, so it's not unplugged.

I use ifixit.com all the time to fix a MacBook Air at my school.

Here is the link to replace your MacBook Pro trackpad. And also to buy the Trackpad.

It is currently out of stock, but you can warn you when it comes.

    Good luck

  • Lose Satellite M100 PSMA0A time but no date.

    Hello

I have a portable Satellite M100 (PSMA0A-0J4002), who has problems with the hold time. He lost several hours in normal operation (mains or battery power or even with no battery and only AC). It stops when the computer goes into hibernation or is disabled.

My Windows time zones are correct and I turned off automatic updates of internet time too.
The strange thing is that the date never changes! It's not 1980 or similar when the battery is removed. That means it's not the CMOS battery?
I disassembled the laptop looking for the CMOS battery, but it is soldered in. Is this correct?

I don't know if it's relevant or related, but sometimes the screen turns black after emerging from hibernation and the laptop must be turned off and when he comes back he asked something like: clear memory and reboot or restart.
I have to choose erase the memory and restart. Very rarely, I also have the blue screen of death with count upwards saying that memory dumping (I think).

I deleted my firewall and AV programs but still lost time.

Anyone is able to help please?
Is it likely to be material, battery CMOS or software?

    Thanks in anticipation!
    Lewis

    > I disassembled the laptop looking for the CMOS battery, but it is soldered in. Is this correct?
I m not very well how it s mounted on laptop M100, but in many cases the CMOS batteries are not easy to remove it s always a job for technicians of the ASP

The issue of the date and time may be linked to the CMOS battery
Usually, you can charge this battery easily.
In order to load the CMOS battery, the laptop must be connected to the power adapter and the laptop must cover more than 20hours.
After that the CMOS battery needs to be recharged.

But if the question seems yet, then you should check if the update of the BIOS might help if not it s a motherboard problem that should be checked by a technician of laptop!

  • Satellite M100-233: stops right after the "XP" logo

    Hello
I have a Satellite M100-233 with XP Home Edition SP3 (in Portuguese)
When it is connected to the mains and the battery is not fully charged, sometimes the yellow light does not shine.
Check the voltmeter application when this happens, tells me that the battery is on, the energy source is the sector, but the battery runs down.
As I continue to use the laptop, the amount of the battery is reported as progressively less, until he tends to zero, then the laptop just turned off, as if she was not connected to the mains.
Even if I start with the battery charged to 100%, after a couple of hours (sometimes more, sometimes less) the same thing happens.

From an authorized dealer, they told me that it was probably a short battery shorted out.

Get not that: * if she take the battery out of the laptop and turn it on:
-Most of the time it turns off right after the "XP" logo.
-It seems that this happens more often when the battery was fully charged the last time that I used it (strange! "I imagine this?)
-Also sometimes happens after that I use the laptop for a while

The only unusual bios message I get is "no TPM or TPM has a problem." I guess it has to do with the cryptographic protection, so I imagine that this has nothing to do with this issue.
About two years ago, there was a problem with the battery (it ceased to be recognized as present by the laptop) which has been repaired under warranty: they told me that they had replaced the motherboard then. However, at this time there that I could continue to work normally without the battery, which is not the case now.

I would be grateful for any advice. The most annoying is that this problem follows an irregular pattern, and the diagnosis, the dealer gave me seems hard to believe. As I use my laptop to collect data for research abroad, it is quite a risk for me to use it if I can't be sure when it will turn off on its own.

    Hello

To be honest, I doubt that anyone here in the forum would be able to provide an exactly the answer to this question
I think that it of almost impossible to say what's wrong without running any hardware checks.

But to me it looks like a card mother number possibly it s power of electronic power supply which is part of the motherboard.

What to say, maybe you need a new motherboard, but the new mobo is an expensive item, and in my opinion, you should first check if it is s to replace the motherboard or buy a laptop second hand for the same money.

  • Satellite M100 (PSMA0E) - Driver for SD card reader

    Hello.

I have a Toshiba Satellite M100 PSMA0E. I installed win XP and does not recognize the SD card reader. The site Web of Toshiba is not the pilot. How can I fix it? I'm waiting for your answers.

    Thank you

    Hello

I checked the Web from Toshiba site and for your model M100 (PSMA0E) it is only a Vista driver available for Flash Media reader.

But I founded a driver XP for Satellite M100 (PSMA1E) I think that models are similar, and you should try this one:

  • Satellite M100-222: display panel dithering-> high compression like jpg

I bought Satellite M100-222 2 days. Soon, I saw that solid colors like windows default blue or gray /many of others too / appear strangely - it seems that dirty, grainy, or as strong jpg compression.

It is not only my opinion. As much as I know that some people who have had the same problem with the Satellite A100 series-, contributed to a bios upgrade. I have the new bios, 2.60 /25.01.2007/ new drivers for ATI x 1400 cards / but it's all the same... Graphics card seems to be ok - external monitor connected to the laptop seems good. So far, no solution.

What to do with it, what do you think?
Why is it like that? What's wrong?

    Hello

I checked the issue described on Satellite M100-188 with TruBrite screen. It is visible on the white and clear areas, but on Start button while that turn off everything is OK.

I'm really interested about service information, but I'm sure that there are no bugs and according to me, there is not much to do. I know it's much worse on a Satellite phone, and because of this, it has been updated from the BIOS.

By the way: on my old Tecra M1 with LCD panel normal white background is also not 100% clear. But I must say that TryBrite on Qosmio laptops display is bright and much better than on M100. I really put t know what difference it there but perhaps portable multimedia expencive were simply better display.

To see what service will say about this.

  • Satellite M100-180: where can I find drivers for Win 2003 Server?

We bought a Microsoft Windows 2003 server. I have install then on our laptop Toshiba Satellite M100-180 PSMA1E-02Q00WRU.

With the laptop, I found Windows XP CD and Express media player recovery CD Reanimator. No disc drivers there. May be dealer lost drivers disk? If that - where can I get new CD of drivers (I am from Russia, Smolensk)

I try to download the drivers from the web (toshiba.com.ru), but they are very large (I have a dial-up internet). Then I download driver modem (4M). Installation of the works, but no modem appear after that. And no serial port too.

I plug the USB-serial converter and install Standart Modem (USR external). Then I have to connect to the internet and try to download the drivers with windows update. No results...

    HEEEEEEELP ME! :)

PS Sorry for my English :)

    Hello

: D the dealer nothing lost! The pilot tools & utilities can be created in the Windows XP operating system that came with the laptop.
With the help of Toshiba, you will find a Protect & Fix tab and the option to create a driver disk ;)

Further, all the XP drivers are placed on the page of the Toshiba driver. But unfortunately, nothing for Win 2003 server.
Maybe test it works for XP drivers also on Server 2003

To find the driver download page please go to
