Satellite M30 - possible repair broken?
My father seems to have broken his laptop (Satellite M30-107), which is the model above.
When you press the power button it turns on but there is no sound what it is running because I expect. There's no display on the screen. Also the cd drive does not so much need to open manually.
If I button green light comes on to show so you have power to the keyboard.
I tried to connect an external monitor, but that does not work either.
Does anyone have any other ideas I could try? Or know where I could take it to be fixed because it's about 1 week out of warranty :(
Hi Martyn,
The first thing to try is to remove the ca cable and also the battery so that the laptop is completely isolated from any power source, then leave it for 5-10 minutes prior to re - attach the cable ca.
Try turning on the laptop so normal and if you have the same problem then discopnnect the AC cable and install the battery and try again feeding.
If the laptop still does not power on then it is likely to be a problem with the motherboard that will have to be checked by an authorized service center.
Kind regards

Re: Need Satellite M30 - broken hinges - manual
I have a question: my satellite m30 left hinge is broken and I want to fix. Where can I get a manual and the hinge (s) in europe (Austria)?
Thanks for help.
You won't get a disassembly manual for this laptop.
I didn t find all downloads on the Toshiba page and I guess that these manuals are designed only for the FSA and not for public useIt before, I think you need to contact an ASP in your country for details.
Good luck buddy

Satellite M30 - taken to power on the motherboard is broken
I would buy a new outlet for my main computer Satellite M30, because the internal contact is broken.
The socket has the number 041101.
Help, please!Hello
You can buy all the compatible parts since the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country.
But I guess you'll have to solder this socket on the motherboard and something like that is not very easyIf you have no experience, you should try to contact a technician for this work.

Can not turn on the Satellite M30
Hello everyone...
I have a Satellite M30 laptop for time enough and I'm having a problem with it. When I try to turn it on, it makes a kind of scratch noise and then nothing happens. The hard drive lit wrath but the computer does no sound and no picture on the screen. I tried to turn it on with and without the battery and the same thing happens.
A few days before this happened that I could see the windows startup screen, after that the computer crashed, even when I went to the BIOS Setup screen, the computer also crashed, so the problem was not on the hard disk. A few days later, when I tried to turn it back on, it makes a single probe and nothing else happened. Can it be a motherboard problem? can I try before sending it for repair
I'm scared of m it s a serious problem.
Depending on the symptoms that you described the laptop cannot get the message and so I think there may be an error on the motherboard.
I don t think you will be able to locate the fault. It is simply not possible for the common user like you and meIf you have no choice as to the request of the service provider for Toshiba for help.

Compatible LCD Panel for Satellite M30 951
Unfortunately, the display on a Satellite M30 (PSM30E-7101Y-GR) is broken. Well, to change it would not be a great thing, but I would like to know what screen models when used on this Version (for example is it possible to build in a style of glare panel without changing other things) or to simply find out which would be the cheapest possible display.
Does anyone have a list of views that are used for this model?
The current screen is a LP154W01 (A3) (K1)THX in advance
Hello
I think that the laptop comes with a 15.4 wide TFT color display screen "(1280 x 800) screen."
In my opinion, you can use most of the 15.4 screens.
But be aware that the display is one of the most expensive neighborhoods that are used on the laptop. On some sites, I found this K000009690 part number.
Hope this helps a little

How to use the external screen with my Satellite M30?
Hi guys, I have the following problem:
I have a portable Satellite M30-642 former. My keyboard it is completely broken (spilled something on it) so I use an external USB keyboard.
Now that I bought a TFT I wanted to use it as a primary device, so I need to take the laptop to the external output.
The laptop itself recognizes as a secondary screen already, but this isn't what I want.
Problem is I can't switch from the display without the FN key devices!I tried to search the net and this forum - but the solution posted does not work for the M30. There is no option in the utility of HW and not in the BIOS to enable the external keyboard support.
Please is there any other combination of keys that would work or a software utility that allows me to turn on? It's a really bad situation for me :(All solutions anyone? :(
Greetings and thanks in advance
HQHello
Please don't be crazy on me but I write here very often and somehow try to help, but I'm still irritated if someone thinks that anything is possible. Unfortunately, you have to accept that sometimes there is hardware limitation and there is nothing to do.
I want to talk about primary and secondary monitor. On most laptops, the LCD is always set as primary and cannot be changed. So, as far as I know, without using the FN + F5 key combination you extend the desktop to external display and use both of them. Using display settings you should be able to switch to an external display only (display control panel settings NVIDIA advance settings and so on). Please test only because I don't have M30, but the principle is used the same.
If you will be able to use external display only try to restart your laptop and see on which screen the office will be shown. If you will be lucky and office will be shown on the external display, try to extend the desktop to second monitor (laptop LCD).
Good bye

Satellite M30, partitioning
After that I got some error messages and viruses so I had to format my laptop the Satellite M30.
I used the recovery CD Toshiba 2 and the only option for me was Option 1 Option 2 is reserved for specialists, and I'm not familiar with all the terms it. In any case, the formatting not only formatait the C:\ but D:\ thus merged the formerly 2 x 30 GB in a single C:\ partition, I had no option to stop this.
How can I split my C:\ drive again into 2 partitions of the same size?Sorry, but the only way with the delivered software on a M30 to create partitions is the expert mode.
As far as I know.But I have a proposal.
Tomorrow I'll do a recovery on my M30 will inform you as soon as possible.
Good bye

Need of recovery for Satellite M30 Series CD
Hi all!
I lost my recovery CD and in France they say that it is not possible to send one for me (they said it's old and they don't have them).
First question: is it possible to use a CD from an another Toshiba (same model)?
A second: If so, can someone send it to me? I live in Paris! Thanks in advance.
Hello
Satellite M30 is old enough laptop model, and I can imagine that this authorized partner can not order the original CD more.
It will be much better off buying the CD of Microsoft WXP facilities (on eBay it ain't cheap) and you can install WXP yourself. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba supports the page.
For me, it's the best solution for you.

Satellite M30 sees only 120 GB installed WD 250 GB HARD drive?
Recently my native HDD (on M30) crashed and I upgaded with Western Digital WD2500BEVE 250 GB. Disc.
But when I boot the sytem, it appears that only 120 GB is available! Is it possible to use the laptop the full capacity of the HARD drive? Whow?
Thank you!
Hello
The fact is that not all HARD drive sizes are supported due to the limitation of HARD BIOS disk size.
Easy said: BIOS don't support all hard drives.I've read many threads here in the forum about HARD drive sizes possible max and it seems that a 120 GB of HARD drive is wide that could be used in the Satellite M30.
You ask now for an update of the BIOS. Am I wrong?
Well, unfortunately, the update of the BIOS will not improve the situation and will not use the s larger HARD drive as 120 GB :(
Best regards

Satellite M30-604 external usb hdd boot failure
Hello world
Hard drive problems seem never to end for me.
I have a satellite M30-604. Recently my Hitachi HDD crashed. Now, I am trying to boot from an external hard drive via usb, but I can't.
(a) I use a ViPower 3.5 "(model VP9258T) enclosure external usb 2.0"
(b) with a Seagate 200 GB hard drive.
(c) I used the recovery cd to install windows on the seagate
(d) the bios (v1.4) seems to support the external device to start
(e) the internal hdd crashed is deleted (it's internal hard drive space is empty)
(f) the bios sees the drive and recognizes it as a USBI think it should work, but when I turn on the computer, after a while, he says: "0201: failure IDE #0"
and gives me the options to run the program installation or start-up.
When I choose boot it gives me the window with "boot in safe mode" screen, 'last known good configuration' etc, but nothing of the work options (it restarts and gives the same again).Any ideas please?

Hello
My research on this subject has led me to believe that it is not possible to boot an operating system of attached USB HDD XP. I read several posts on various usenet groups on this issue, and the consensus of opinion is that it is simply not possible.
Several suppliers of BIOS claim allow a USB HDD to be suitable for start-up purposes but I still have to attend such a machination succeed with XP.

Satellite M30-604 - mechanical hard drive failure
My satellite M30 604 is guaranteed (bought 10 months ago) and my Hitachi travelstar hard drive crashed unexpectedly. The accident is probably mechanical, so I can't use data recovery software (makes things worse). The only way to get my data is to give the HD a specialist who will open in a 'white room' for something like 300-600 Euros (!) and try to recover as much as possible. Now:
-> Toshiba said that if I do that, the guarantee is void and I will also have to pay for a new disk (100 euros)
-> If I want to replace the disk (warranty) then toshiba Gets the old drive and I lose my data forever!
WAIT A MINUTE GUYS!
(a) it's my data, my work and you CAN'T make me blackmailing you with such things 'warranty void. I want my old crushed drive back! I want to try to recover as much as I can! my 10 hour work - someday is here!
(b) Moreover even if the heads of the drive crashed, my PERSONAL, PRIVATE data are always in the disk and CAN be read with special techniques. How toshiba (or any other company for that matter) asking me to give it to them?
What should I do?
What would you do?Hello
I sympathize with your problem and can suggest only the following reflections:1. the recovery of your data seems the most important factor here. I suggest you to remove the HARD drive so that it can be sent to a specialist to retrieve data are possible.
2. Since the removal of the disc HARD not not usually involves a broad dismantling of Notepad it should not invalidate the remaining warranty (other than on the HARD drive itself).
3 replacement HARD drive can generally be obtained quite a beneficial one of internet sellers price (check using GOOGLE to a suitable replacement). You can then reinstall your OS recovery CD.
4. I suggest investing in a bunch of backup software (such as Norton Ghost) to avoid this problem in the future. (I had four replacement hard drives on my Satellite A30 in the past 12 months).

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello
Until you have created this topic, did you find it?
[Is it possible to upgrade the CPU or GPU of a Toshiba laptop computer? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=13]If you want to risk this update check the specifications of the other portable Satellite M30. If you can find one with faster CPU, maybe it will work also on your laptop.
But don not forget that the current CPU is tested in your laptop!

Satellite M30: Unknow Hard Error - could this be a problem of hard drive?
I got my Satellite M30 for 2 years now and it never gave me any problems, until a few weeks ago. The problem started shortly after I put Windows to SP2, when I played a game it would stick for a minute or two, and then continue on as usual, the problem slowly got worse and started blue screening with "Unknown hard error" and sometimes strange balloon in the lower right corner saying unknown hardware error and then freeze it. It also took a long time to start and generally do nothing.
Assumed it was a problem when I've upgraded to SP2, so I decided to reinstall Windows and start over again, update the BIOS while I was home.
Once this is done it seemed fine for an hour or two, but then tried to install a game and of course, the good old blue screen appears and the whole problem starts again.
I took it to a repair shop and explain the problem and I had re-installed Windows nothing helped, and I suspected that it may be a hardware failure, I left it with them, and 2 days later I get a call saying its all fixed and ready to be picked up, I asked what was wrong with it and they said that they re-installed Windows and sound now works fine (i.e. what I their) I said, I had made and n t worked!). I picked up (and got charged £40 to have done what I had already done). I got it home and everything seemed ok... for a few hours, then blue screens seemed to tell me any physical dumping of beginning and the usual stuff.
I think it might be a drive problem hard, like when I tried to install a game on it at night last light CD and HARD flash drive, one for about 15 seconds, then the other for a short time, data copied from one to the other, but then the HARD drive light stayed on, and I could hear the HARD disk as if it were sticky , after about a minute of this blue and close short-listed and took some time to turn back. If I leave a couple of hours and it starts fine until the next time.
So, after my long description on my problem, I have 2 questions,
1. could I be right in thinking that these problems are associated with hard drive?
2. If I'm right, is easy to replace on the M30 HARD drive and where I would buy a new? Thanks for your time and help,
Kenny.
Hello
The blue screen appears only if you play games?
But I agree with you. In my opinion, there would really be a hardware malfunction.
The question is - it s a HARD drive or something different?
Hmmm. I think that the problem is not related to the disc HARD but maybe overheating?
According to the publication, sometimes when you play games. The game is a high performance application. All devices running with maximum performance and produce heat.I m not 100% sure, but maybe the high temperature has a bad influence on the system and therefore the BSOD happens.
You suggested that the laptop run properly for about 2 years. Maybe fans can cool properly because of the dust and debris. Two years is a long time if you have not cleaned the cooling modules and fans. -
Satellite M30-821: where to get the motherboard compatible
Hello
I have a Satellite M30-821, my motherboard seems to be broken for a few weeks. I would change it. Does anyone know where I can supply one, even if it isn't a new (actually a cheaper)?
Thank you
Hi Christophe
I assume that you know something about the technology of the laptop and you know the motherboard for laptop is one of the parties outside the expensive laptop LCD screen.
The new motherboard costs a small fortune :(You have two options; either you buy a new Board of Directors of the Toshiba service partner in your country (new = expensive with guarantee) or you will check for example eBay offers and maybe you will get a second hand unit with the motherboard (second hand = cheaper but without warranty)
It s your choice dude

How to change the cooler on Satellite M30-344?
Hello
IA´m lucky enough with my Satellite M30 - 344, but 2 months the cooler starts to become stronger every day. Is it possible to change the cooler on mine and how expansive is the original cooler? Do you know anything as a tutorial for the change process?
Originally from 2 256 parts MB of Ram is installed. Now ia´m think about a bigger total RAM. As far I know are only 2 slots for RAM, or I'm wrong. Is it possible to install two 1 GB RAM pieces?
Thank you very much for your help!
Hello
The replacement of internal devices is not easy and a little risky.
I wouldn't recommend replacing the cooling module yourself.
You might damage it something on the map and as you know the motherboard is costly parts of the laptop. The manuals are not published because these documents are only for technicians and service partners.
So I think you should ask a service partner to help him because these guys have more experience in these procedures.I found a site online with the memory modules for Satellite M30 344
http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=6958&ft=m&St=3It is said that it of possible to upgrade memory to 2 GB max. That's why I think that it of possible to use module 2 x 1024 MB.
