Satellite M30X - power problems

When the laptop is plugged in (with the battery) the LED on the show before it has AC power to the laptop and the battery is charging. As soon as I try to turn on the laptop, the battery light turns off and the power led lights up. However, he never stays, he sometimes makes as much as windows sometimes cut it during boot up.

I thought initially it was mabey a problem with the battery. So I tried out the battery and power on. The green light is stays on showing that the laptop has AC power but the light power light just and then turns off again immediately. It is not a battery because the laptop should still work without it.

Then I thought it must be something to do with the power adapter. But the green light on the front shows that it is powered okay and, apparently, the battery recharges. I also tried to check the power cablw with a meter, and he showed that he is a 19V output (exact, the power supply).

So the battery is ok the power supply is ok... so where else could the problem be?

Hello

There would be something wrong with the electronic power supply.
In this case, you should contact the ASP in your country
because he can check it out and starts a few diagnostic tests.

    I'll try to help you.
Well, you can find on unit you Toshiba Power Saver tool. This tool allows to use the Hibernate and standby modus. Please go to control panel, then power saving.
There you can find lots of options and tabs. Go to advanced. The Enable hibernate support option must be marked.
I won t explain all the options, but check these options in this tool.

  • Satellite M30X starting problems

    Hello!

My Satellite M30X doesn't start normally more. When I press the power button, it turns on, the fan starts, but nothing happens. Or sometimes it takes almost 5 minutes before then the Toshiba logo appears, it begins in place.

After that, I sometimes get a message that the Smart HD feature has detected a failure in my HD. But not all the time.

I have Linux and Win XP on my hard drive. When I use Win XP, it starts normally, then after a few minutes, I get the BOD with message IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Or sometimes, the system just hangs. If I boot mode safe, everyting works fine.

On Linux, the system freezes after 30 minutes of use.

I'm tempted to think that I just need to reformat my HD (I have a 100gig HD of Fujitsu), and everything will be fine. I have to try again. And also once again, on Win XP Safe Mode, everything works very well - I can't even use WLAN, and I am writing this same post! But if it's just a software or an OS problem, why not not my laptop start normally? I mean, why is that sometimes it does not start at all (the Toshiba logo does not appear), and I have to turn off my phone and turn it back on so that it works. Sometimes it is not boot at all, no matter how many times I try it turn on and off. The power on light comes on, fan will start, then fan turns off, light is always turned on and nothing happens. Or it could be caused by a faulty hard drive? Is that why it sometimes does not start at all? But if it is the HD, why is there not a problem in Mode safe?

It is so weird coz it wasn't a problem before, and he appeared out of the blue.

Any help will be appreciated! Thank you in advance!

    Hello

To me, this looks like a hardware problem. I think it works in safe mode because other such graphics card device drivers are not loaded.
As I know the IRQL error also occurs if the blue screen of death appears on the screen. I think that it us something wrong with the graphics card or the memory modules.
I think you should ask the AEP from Toshiba for help.

    Hello

The clear issue and can be resolved very easily:
    Reason:
You use a non compatible HARD disk

    Solution;
Replace the HARD drive with the compatible!

The laptop seems to be supplied wit a 80 GB IDE HDD.
I advise to use the same or a HARD 100 GB / 120GB.

  • With Satellite A30 power problems

    Hello

Over the last four years, I have been using a Satellite A30 with XP Pro... had no problems whats so ever until that last months... I started to notice the battery life becomes lower before (prob because of the decrease in battery life) but also when he is on the grid it will charge the battery to 100% but instead of power are removed from the sector It starts to drain the battery even when the sector is connected.

Another problem is that I have to keep or stop the laptop goes into hibernation mode so it can recognize it is powered from the battery to load... even in this case, it may take several attempts for the laptop to begin to charge the battery...

These problems started start after warranty, and was released in additional insurance coverage

Any information or help gladly appreciate it that I fight to get assignments done University

    Thank you

    Hi mate,

had a similar problem with an other friend A30. After sending the machine to an ASP (certified partner), they told us that the internal charger was defective and they have offered to swap the motherboard.
But given that the motherboard was really expensive for him he sold the machine on Ebay and bought and Satellite A200 which is a machine really well.

I guess that the motherboard is gone...

    That's all

    See you soon

  • Toshiba and BIOS-satellite M30X power management

    Hello!
I just installed XP PRO with Service Pack 2. I tried to install the Toshiba power management tool. At the end of the blue installation screen appears and the system restarted. I tried upgrading BIOS (windows flash) and hanged just after flash system started.

Icouldn t restart even pressing the poweroff several seconds what is the problem? If possible answer also private e-mail [email protected]

    Hi Mam

AFAIK for M30X that there is a new BIOS version (1.90).

Please check this document and be careful.
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/FAQ.jsp?service=EU&from=faq_selection&CFID=BIOS&fi D = TRO0000000b07

Very important is that your device must be connected to the power supply and DO NOT interrupt the BIOS update, because it can destroy the BIOS.

  • Satellite P10 power problem

    Satellite P10-317

    * Symptoms *:

External DC LED stays on, but battery LED turns OFF (from green or orange) and laptop running on battery power only (Toshiba Power Management panel says that it has external DC AND the battery runs down). Disconnect and reconnect external DC does not cure but put into hibernation and resume the battery LED lights up again and he fled the external domain controller. If no battery is not connected, laptop just dies. Unfortunately, the problem is very intermittent. The battery is new and normally charges/discharges.

    * Diagnosis * (tentative): the DC regulator on board is dying

    * Question *: does anyone have the circuit diagrams? (anyone else seen this problem & what is the cure?)

    Thank you

    Julian

    Hello

AFAIK this diagram is part of the maintenance manuals and is not a public document. Because of that I am quite skeptical that someone can help you with it. You can try to contact the nearest authorized service provider. They have these documents, and perhaps they are ready to help you.

    Make a call.

  • Satellite M30X-102: problems with foreign settings

I just bought the laptop M30X-102 of the Germany, but I am from Greece. So everything is in German (which I don't understand), the recovery disk, documentation... So I ask if I can find the revovery disk in English language. How can I re - configure my system with windows English? (I think format...) Thank you...

    Hello

It is a shame. I know the problem, if you have lost a Toshiba Recovery CD, then you go to a Service partner and sign a solemn declaration (it is a restriction of M$) and you will get a new recovery CD.

You could ask a Greek Service partner if it is possible to do?

  • Satellite A500 - power problems while game

I was wondering if Satellite A500 users have had the same problem as me. I got my laptop to 10 months and for the last 2 months I get really bad heating problems with my laptop. I have tried everything to clean the laptop with a can to purchase under product cooling fan air to try to stop the tap from the bottom during the game but no luck.

I want to come to a point were I think that its time to back the laptop to toshiba and ask for a replacement or a new laptop as after spending nearly £700 for laptop Gamers its just not up to scratch.

Any help would be most appreciated that I get at the end of my patience with her. Now stop playing Aliens Vs Predators live x 11 and the Lord of the Rings Online and Supreme Commander 2, name a few.

Also, I was watching a DVD using the HDMI port and it did for me then also.

    Help, please.

    Hi HellspwanUK,

So if your laptop stops all at stake, it would be interesting to know what OS you have installed what is driving display and you are using. This behavior is typical if you use nVidia display drivers rather Toshiba display drivers. The nVidia drivers don't have protection against overheating and different thermal management. This means that your graphics card would go on the highest level, so it might be overheating and closed.
I would recommend most recent installation display driver official of Toshiba page for your model.

And have you cleaned your laptop as described here:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=40

In addition, I would also check the BIOS. Have you installed the latest version of the BIOS?

  • Satellite P10 power problems

My P10 is just over a year and has developed feeding problems. It does not seem to register on drums (Iget the a/c light green, orange for the battery) and it won't let me turn it on. Leave it plugged to charge doesn't seem to help. It is intermittent, because it then allows himself to be put on sometimes but will turns off completely at random and then go 12 rounds insertingand uninserting the battery and the son of a/c. Any suggestions?

    Hello

Unplug the unit and remove the battery for a few minutes. Put it back inside, plug in the AC adapter and try restarting the device.

  • Re: Satellite L30 Power problem

    Hi all

I am a repairer of computer in Australia and I have a laptop satellite L30 customers. The cable between the motherboard and the DC IN port broke with the solder, and I need to buy a new. Does anyone know where I can get one or how it's called so I can look for one on the net.

    Thank you

    Hello

In my opinion, it is a special part for laptop (L30) and I think that you could buy it only of the ASP in your country
The partner of service authorized in your country should be able to help, and in the worst case (if this part is not available) they could order from Toshiba doll.

    Welcome them

  • Power supply with Satellite M30x problem

When I connect my Satellite M30X in power, he sometimes shows the power light and the battery light. It can then be turned on and will start and run.
Most of the time the power light blinks and the battery light stay out: it will not illuminate.

When it turns on, it will work for a period of a minute or two till about 4 hours and stops randomly.
Now the led starts flashing and continues to Flash while it is powered.

There must be some problem with electronic control gear. Strange is that this problem occurs from time to time.
Sorry, but if you want to get rid of it you must contact Toshiba service and let check your laptop.

To be honest, it can happen that
Entire motherboard must be exchanged, and it can be quite expensive. Might be time for the new laptop computer. Satellite M30 is really old.

What do you think of all this?

  • Satellite M30X powers off the power when you touch the USB port

Hello everyone, just registered and it is the first problem:
As there is no general hardware forum, I post my problem here.

I got it twice, my laptop
(Product: Satellite M30X, Version: PSA72E - 008010GR) just went completely off.

    Motherboard:

    NorthBridge: Intel i855GME
SouthBridge: (ICH4-M) of 82801DBM LPC Interface Bridge
    Motherboard model: Toshiba EAL20

    USB:

    82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) USB UHCI controller #1-3
    Version: 1.0
    Interface: UHCI
    Frequency: 48 MHz

    82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) USB 2.0 EHCI controller
    Version: 2.0
    Interface: EHCI

I have the latest Intel Chipset drivers installed and Windows XP Home SP3 with all updates.

Once when I hit just the back USB ports with a USB plug, the other time when I unplugged my bluetooth key (climbing din't remove it).
There was no blue screen or message of any kind, not even in the registry after you start the system again or this fatal system error box when you start after a system error.

Just a total failure. But it works fine the rest of the time. I also tried to remake the script, but it didn't work.
I have cleaned with a vacuum cleaner to remove dust and has taken a good look, but saw no difference to the side track.
Maybe the clamps of the wand to shield a little more out to the contact pins on the rear.

What bothers me a bit, it's some time ago, I had the laptop one computer my knees and I forgot that a memory stick has been connected to the rear. The stick was pushed up and was slightly damaged.
Still works well. Now for me, that I broke the USB port Insider somehing.
I could not determine also the loose parts or unfirm at all.

Y at - it there, diagnostic software that measures the motto of the port or power problems?
I have a multimeter, fetch short-circuits with it?

I saw a package of drivers Intel for USB 2.0 over there, but I can't find it on their page, advice?

Thank you very much for your help, I just wanted to update my RAM and now I am not so shure if my laptop will last the next week.

    Fabian

    Hello

I put t know any diagnostic software that could analyze this question, I think that a technician of the ASP may be able to provide exactly this question results

    > What bothers me a little is that some time ago, I had the laptop and my knees and I forgot that a memory stick has been connected to the rear. The stick was pushed up and was slightly damaged.

I think this might be the reason why the laptop stopped while you touch the USB port eventually ports were damaged by using the memory stick, this could cause the laptop off

However, what we can do is to provide some suggestions and assumptions
It you want to know why this is happening exactly, then you need to contact a technician laptop for a control.

  • Problems on the Satellite M30X 124

    Hello

I have a Satellite M30X-124. He stopped the electric network load when the laptop is turned on. The battery seems to be OK and witnesses to support lights online when I play with the charge lead to the back of the computer. I tried another charger and it is certainly not the charger or the charging cable. The problem seems to be at the back of the laptop when the mainstream point of entry is.

I referred to this problem in the decision-making authorized Toshiba service and they believe the problem is the motherboard and I would like to replace it (they have not seen or inspect the laptop). The only problem is that the replacement of the motherboard is like buying a new laptop for high cost. Any ideas?
I believe that the problem must be that he connection between the charge lead and the entrance to the main power supply does not work and there may be something loose that can be fixed. I'd rather do something myself rather than spend a lot of money.

    Any ideas please.

    Thanks for your help
    Anwar

    Hello

I wouldn recommend you do it by yourself, but could try. I heard that this phenomenon comes from a loose AC plug that must be welded to the card.
Here´s a site that should help you in your mission: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/

If in doubt then I suggest you buy a new machine, rather than spending money for your old beautiful Clipboard. ;)
