Satellite M40-129: PCMCIA card does not work with Linux

I have D-Link DWL-G650 with Atheros Chipset that is supported under linux (madwifi). But if I boot Linux map is not found. I tested the card with a Fujitsu Siemens laptop and it worked out of the box!

No idea why it doesn't work with my M40-129?

Hello

As you know Toshiba doesn't support Linux and there is no Toshiba drivers for the Linux operating system, but I was able to find this page useful Toshiba on laptop with Linux configuration:

You must check the machine OS compatibility and other areas.
I m you will find many useful tips.

  • Satellite M40-307: accessibility utility does not work with the limited user account

    Hello everyone,

I have a Satellite M40-307 (PSM44E), and I had a problem with the utility "accessibility", which displays an icon in the notification bar of Windows XP, to inform the user if the "Fn" key is active or not.

This utility would not work for the administrator would not worry so much, because the administrator is supposed to know what he does. But the limited user doesn't have access, that bother anymore.

In Administrator, this utility works quite well. But during a session of limited user, if I try to launch it in [runas / user: admin "C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\Windows Utilities\TACSPROP.exe"],
I am replied that the file TCMSVR. DLL is not found. If I launch normally, a message tells me that this utility requires that I am logged on as administrator.

So, what can I do to use this utility normally, i.e. in a limited user Sessiona? *

    Hello

Well, you should try to activate the rights for the TACSPROP.exe.
To do this, you must enter the operating system as an administrator.
Choose the application, right click. There is a Security tab. Here, you need to activate the permissions for all users.

  • Satellite Pro 4600 Wireless card does not work with WIN2K?

I have a Satellite Pro 4600 with UK dealer PA3070U-1MPC wireless operating with Windows 2000 card

The wireless client Manager detects the network from my wireless router and the signal is excellent and I see all the Green swhowing bars.

But I can't mske a connection in 'connections' wireless says "network cable is disconnected.

the router works well with other laptops in my house.

I have the latest version of Win2K also downloaded and installed the latest versions of client manager and WLAN driver for win2k to the toshiba Web site.

'Support of toshiba in Turkey' told me ' I need another driver for Win2K for my driver wireless card cause win2K on the toshiba site isn't for "thie" wireless card ". I have been waiting for this for 3 weeks now and couldn't join the UK level 3 elusive support who supposed to have this driver. I saw on the internet is the same wireless card was sold as an accessory "made by toshiba" and he said that it is compatible with Wim2K

What I then please? It works with Win2K, is it "another driver" and so on?

    Thank you

    Hello

I don t think that there is something wrong with the driver because you can receive signals from router (green bars). If the driver WLan would be a mistake if wouldn t receive all signals.
Please check device manager. If the wireless card is recognized if you are using the correct driver and the driver has been installed correctly.
    Please see this page:
    http://209.167.114.38/support/TechSupport/TSBs/all/-TSB000705.htm

In my view, the message "network cable is disconnected" appears because your (NOT wireless) LAN cable is not connected. This post has nothing to do with the question of Wlan.
You should check your WLan settings again.

  • Network (NIC) card does not work with DHCP or static IP

Hi, I have a ThinkCentre M70e (0809-C6S) with a problem in the network card. The link led is on and Windows detects that a cable has been connected. But the network can not aquire a DHCP lease and does not work with the static IP address. I uninstalled the antivirus and tested nothing helps network booting. The same connecting cable to another PC, works great. If the NIC has been "burned"? Thanks Oliver

Thanks will check the power settings too. But I solved this problem by: - antivirus uninstall - uninstall the card NETWORK Marvell driver - reboot - disable NETWORK card in the BIOS - turn off PC - turn on the NETWORK adapter in the BIOS - install the downloaded in another PC Marvell NIC driver - antivirus install now the NETWORK card works again! Best regards, Oliver

  • 128 - GB MicroSD card does not work with the new Clip +.

My old Clip + (black, 8 GB) was getting very long in the tooth, so I ordered a replacement off Amazon.  As far as I know, it is identical to the old, but a very unpleasant difference is presented - it does not work with the MicroSD card which has been a huge part of why I got a Sansa at all.  He acknowledges, but after a media updated I'm lucky if more than one album appears.  And that's what's so crazy!  You just blow through the update in a few seconds, and when I navigate on the map, there is nothing or a handful of albums random, orphaned.  That's happened?  I updated the new Clip + for the current firmware (as I had done with previous); I made sure to reproduce all the parameters that I would be put in place before--I can't imagine what could be the cause!

    Treats quick closing:

The card is formatted in FAT32 with the same sector size in storage aboard the player (32 768 bytes).

A 64 GB card format works even without any problem.

I tried to update the media in MTP and MSC mode; the problem is the same in both.

There is ample space for MTABLE. SYS - I have not yet loaded all the music on the Clip + itself.

Rockbox plays the card without problem, but the sound quality is horrible (at least on this player; I'm sure that other versions sound best), and its interface is a headache.  No thanks.

HM.  Looks like to run CHKDSK /F on the map the problem resolved!

  • Satellite 2410-413: USB2 PCMCIA card does not work

Hello. This is my first time on a forum, and my English is bad.
I tried to install a card PCMCIA 4 port USB 2 (hw & sw) on my Satellite 2410 413 in order to use a dongle of DTV (hw & sw).

This will not work: ports seem to be declared straight into the computer, but in fact, a simple key memory 64 MB USB-2 [a Sony "micro-vault" key), won't work, and neither will the Winfast DTV dongle.]

Paradoxically, both the key mem will work on any of the three USB-1 ports, and the DV dongle will light on any port USB-1. The PCMCIA 4 port USB 2 card is new. I can't locate the source of the problem.

Could someone help me with this issue?
Thank you in advance for your answer. Here it is (maybe?)
Another way of formulating the question: how USB ports are managed by the system?

    Hello Rasta

Sorry, but I think that this issue should be the right one for producer PCMCIA. Try to visit the support page. You might find answers.
Believe me on this path it is not easy to say why this happens. Toshiba is perhaps responsible for the functionality of PCMCIA card, but not used the card.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite A200-1VM - SD card does not work

    SD card does not start.
I already have SP1 and in Device Manager SD card appears with "!" when a card is inserted and is not, when it's empty.
When I insert a card inside it says does not start code 10 but I see the led blink whenever I put a card inside.

    Can anyone help?

Error code 10 said that the SD card driver was not installed correctly or device couldn t load the driver.

In any case, you should definitely try to reinstall the driver from SD card.
First go to Device Manager and uninstall the old drivers.
Then install the driver again, downloaded from the page of European driver of Toshiba.

Finally, restart the laptop and try again!

    Good luck

I recently bought the camcorder above. I bought a 16 GB memory card class 6 SDHC separately.

  • Why the visiontek radeon 7970 3 GB graphics card does not work with my xps 8300?

I bought a Radeon 7970 visintek 3 GB graphic card thinking that it works with my xps 8300. It fits everything is plugged in correctly, but when I turn on my computer does not recognize the graphics card? The graphics card is not broken I build it in another computer and it works perfectly. I am very disappointed at this because I thoughtI would save money, do not buy a new computer and just buy the food and the radeon. It turns out that the Radeon does not work. If someone could tell me what the problem is, that would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you, Jon

    Hi Jongerber,

A 500W (or more) power with a 150W power connector 8 pin PCI Express and a connector power 75W 6-pin PCI Express is recommended for the graphics card AMD Radeon 7970. Your XPS 8300 has a diet of 460W. This maybe one of the reasons for the question from the video card works on another computer.

Please see the link below for the requirements for the graphics card of Radeo 7970:

    http://Dell.to/1brhNaJ

The following video cards are compatible with the Dell XPS 8300.

    Discreet (PCI Express x 16 card) - NVIDIA GTX460, NVIDIA GT420 (M207)
    ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5670/HD 5770 / HD 5870/HD 5450

When you click the compatibility Option in the link below, you will see that the XPS 8300 is not listed under supported for the video card Visiontek AMD Radeon 7970 systems.

Hope that the information provided above is useful. Answer please if you have other queries.

  • L10-202: ACPI Module does not work with Linux SUSE 10

I bought a Toshiba laptop L10-202 a few weeks ago and tried to install SUSE 10 on it. The installation went well but I have some problems with ACPI modules.
I know that Toshiba recommends Windows XP but I have nowhere to ask for help because I could not find help on Linux forums. I should mention that I've recompiled the kernel because I considered that this was not necessarily.
So far, the modules ACPI informs me on the temperature of the processor (57 degrees Celsius, the fan starts and at 52 degrees Celsius, it stops) and the only function that works is suspension on HARD drive. The battery level is not indicated because there is no file in/proc/acpi/battery/to read information on the battery. Except another ACPI hardware was detected by SUSE installation and works very well. I couldn't use the Toshiba_acpi module because this laptop has a Phoenix BIOS, but this isn't a big problem.

You have an idea why ACPI does not work on SUSE and how could I solve the problem?

Don't you think that there is no danger for the laptop to continue using SUSE, which limited the work of ACPI modules could cause damage to my laptop or it is safe to use SUSE?

    Thank you!

    Hello

Well well, in my own opinion it s desirable that all functions of the laptop should work properly. But I put t think he might of s for laptop computer continue to use the Suse10.
I would recommend using the other Linux distribution. That use you the Knoppix. This Linux you can stat from a CD or DVD and it works like a normal Linux operating system and you can also use the Windows XP.

    Little info on ACPI:
With ACPI, the operating system can turn off devices, such as CD-ROM drives, when they are not in use. Another example: ACPI will enable manufacturers to produce computers that automatically turns on as soon as you touch the keyboard

    Good bye

  • Satellite 105-S157: USB 2.0 via a PCMCIA card does not work

I installed the pcmcia card with BIOS update V2.1 and work under WIN XP sp2.
It seems to work normally in Device Manager, but when I plugged in the USB, it may not recognise.
If I can access usb PCMCIA ports.

This laptop does support USB 2.0?
How can I make it work?

    Please help?

    Thank you

    Hello

It is a brand new model Toshiba and I guess that it supports high speed USB 2.0.
Sometimes, the operating system can not recognize external USB devices due to the limitation of power. The fact is that the USB port gives the 500mA. It is a standard value.
If the USB device use a higher power, the OS cannot recognize and activated the device.
In this case the external power supply is necessary. Another possibility is to use the USB hub with an external power supply.
