Satellite M40-136: network card is damage

Hello

I have a satellite M40-136, which is a little more than 2 years. I have cable broadband installed and this had led me to discover that I have a problem with my network card (a Marvell Yukon map I think).

I had guys on the network at work to check the laptop and they say either the network adapter connection is loose or the card is damaged.
I rang one of their guys said tech that I need a new main board because the network cards are integrated on all laptops and PC WORLD.

Is this correct? If it is then it will cost an arm and a leg to fix it.

Nicky

Well, that's good.
Map of LAN (RJ45) is soldered on the motherboard.
Perhaps an independent technician with experience might be able to solve this problem, but in general, the motherboard should be replaced.

The motherboard is one of the expensive parts and you are right; the new Council is costing a fortune

    Hello

I have problems with my laptop Satellite M40 136 I bought a year ago. If I close down the machine when I then turned it on it would give me a screen saying there is a problem in Windows and gave me the option 'Start windows normally', 'start with the last successful settings', 'start in safe mode', 'start in safe mode with networking' or 'start in safe mode with command prompt '. It would usually take several attempts before that Windows would fire up ok, any option to choose. However yesterday any have repeatedly tried it would not be in windows.

I decided that I need to use the dvd - rom product recovery is a relocation complete (fortunately I had saved my personal files). I did it, but at the end when he says 'ctrl-alt-del"to restart, reboot I got the same message"problem going into windows"with the same options. I repeated the recovery process 2 more times with no luck.

This morning, he did go further and asked me to go through the installation process of Windows (i.e. giving the phone a name, asking if I wanted to save the machine with toshiba/microsoft etc.) However he then pop up with the message "problem going into windows" with the options that I mentioned earlier. I choose any option that he ends up back on the same screen.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    HI Nicky,

It is possible that you have a problem with your hard drive. The operating system will always be usually resident in the same sectors of the hard drive even after a re-installation using your recovery CD, the same sectors of the hard drive will be used to store the files of the OS.

I suggest that you try to run a CHKDSK/F on your hard drive to see what it brings. Of course id there are lots of bad sectors then will consider you replacing the hard drive.

    Kind regards

  • Cannot start up satellite M40 136

    Hello

I have a Satellite M40 136 2.5 years old. I used it yesterday and then closed the lid then it shut down as usual. About half an hour later, I realized that I had to check a file so I opened the lid and normally he would back automatically, but it didn't. I pressed the button, which is surrounded by an LED, I think than orange means it's pending otherwise it is blue.

When I pressed on it, he showed the light orange for about 2 seconds and then nothing for 5 seconds and then blue for 5 seconds. For these last 5 seconds the machine looks like it, he's trying to start, but then it off immediately. I tried and tried again, but it does the same thing. I tried to use the power cable. I managed to put the recovery DVDs during the 5 seconds, the blue light is on and I press the 'C' button, but it does not work.

Does anyone have an idea on what I can do to get the machine to boot?

    Nicky

Plug the laptop! Remove the battery and the AC adapter.
Then wait about 30 min, then insert the battery and connect the AC to the laptop.
    Check if the mobile feed.

If this isn't the case,-> contact ASP (certified partner) in your country, because the strange behavior of cell phone looks like a serious problem that cannot be solved by a common user!

  • Satellite M40 Wireless 2200BG card: WEP problems?

    I have a satellite M40 with an INTEL Pro/wireless 2200BG Network card.
I use a wireless LAN via a router. the connection is broken down into periods of time, sometimes for 2 seconds, sometimes half an hour. my phone says company technical support, it is perhaps due to the incompatibility of my network wireless adapter WEP. I use a WEP key/128 bit / hexadecimal... could someone please give me a tip how to configure my WiFi card so that it works continuously.
I already thank you for any help!

    Hello

I read a few topics that have been discussed in this similar subject forum with a BG 2200 wireless card and it seems that a new wireless driver update could solve this problem. I recommend to download the driver from the Intel site and install it.

  • Satellite P100-324 - network card losing connection

    Hi all

    I'm a new user here, I have a * Toshiba Satellite P100-324 * with Window XP - 32 bit Media Center Edition.
I have problems with my network card that seems to me to lose the connection network and need to reset the IP (repair) every time than in quite awhile to find the connection.

What do you suggest to me what is the problem? A hardware problem or a software (driver)?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

At the moment it is not easy to say what is the reason for this, it could also be a problem of the cable network.
Did you check this first with another cable?

If you have determined that the cable is not defective, you should try to update the network adapter driver. The latest version which is pre-tested on your laptop is that you can find on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

Do you have other laptops or computers connected to the router? Maybe the problem is the router

    Hi, can someone tell me what the difference between the two laptops;
    M40-103 and M40 - 136.
They seem to have the same characteristics.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

In most cases, the laptop hardware parts are the same, but only the system language is different, it means that the two laptops could be released for different countries.

But the hardware specs are the same

  • Satellite M40 and LAN card

A few days ago, I bought the laptop M40-184. In the shop they me assured that he suppotrs gigabit lan. The card is the Marvell Yukon 88E8036 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller. Inside the user manual it is written what follows.

"The computer has a network adapter that supports LAN Ethernet (10 Mbps, 10BASE-T), FAst Ethernet LAN(100 Mbit/s, 100BASE-TX) and Giga-bit.

    1. is it really supports Gigabit LAN, because I do not see this. If this is not the case, what is this giga-bit?

    2. also, what is 100BASE-TX mean?

    Thank you

    Hello

    1. If this is mentioned in s manuals I guess that it really supports the 1000Base-T standard. In my opinion you should take some information on the net about networks and you will understand how it works. Nice explanation you can find under http://searchnetworking.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0, sid7_gci759355, 00.html

    2. check it please this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/100BASE-TX

  • Satellite L100: Wireless network card does not recognize media

I bought a Wifi (Gigabyte gn-wi01gs) to my L100, but this card does not work. I installed all the drivers, but it does not recognize any network. No other computer has a problem.

This shows that, when I press Fn + F8 "wireless communication is disabled. Please activate the wireless communication switch "." What 'switch '? There is no switch!
    What should I do?

Someone mentioned here in the forum that with the version of the BIOS under 2.10, the Wireless LAN card is unable to get a correct IP address of the connected Access Point or it is impossible to get a connection point of access to all.
Added the new BIOS that fixed a problem with the wireless LAN switch kill, the switch did not work properly.
WLAN should be activated by pressing FN + F8.

So please update the BIOS to Version 2.10 or higher, but don't forget to use the good BIOS and the correct procedure of updating the BIOS!
Incorrect BIOS may damage the motherboard.

  • Satellite L500D wireless network card issues

Over the last week I had problems with my Realtek wireless adapter... The wireless or the other works for about 30 minutes, a troubleshooting questions or laptop
cannot locate the adapter wireless at all.

Whenever I restart the laptop, he returns with one of the following error messages on the network wireless driver

    (1) Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might be installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or maybe it's a malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

    (2) this device cannot start. (Code 10)

or other times wireless driver cannot be found at all.

I tried to uninstall the driver wireless and re - install... updated the BIOS and even a full recovery of the system however nothing seems to work.

Hmmm, I think it might be from hardware, which means that wireless network adapter needs to be replaced, but before that you would get in touch with a local ASP, please set the BIOS to default settings and install the WLan driver from this page:

    What should I do?

    Need help :/

If I understand the question: you are not able to use the wireless Internet not LAN. Is this correct?
Probably, you have not installed right driver LAN or WLan.

Satellite C855-S5349N isn't known to me looks like it came out in the United States.

I recommend the page to Support Toshiba us to good drivers.

but I m not very well what WLan/chip this device supports that you need to check the drivers Wlan available (Intel, Realtek or Atheros)

  • Satellite L500-1WG: network card works no - 31 code

    Hello!

    OS: Windows 7 / 64-bit.

I try to connect my Satellite L500 to WNAP A-Link 802.11n WLAN AP ROUTER 3 G via an adapter (Intel 82567) without success.

Under the general tab device manager says "this device does not work properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) ». Then I updated driver-> Windows has determined the software driver for your device is up to date. Always the same message coming in general tab.

    Anyone have similar problems?

    Sitiper

    Hi mate

This device doesn't work properly? Is - this WLan or LAN card?
    I m a bit confused but

As far as I know the LAN and Wlan cell phone support for Realtek card.
So, you can download the two drivers from Realtek page directly.

Please set the BIOS to the default settings before you relocate for the two pilots.

I hope this will help you!

  • How to install a minPCI on Satellite A30 wireless network card

Just signed up for broadband services and got myself a wireless router. Satellite A30 I use has the ability to connect wireless but a mini PCI Wireless.

Before I go ahead and buy a card (instead of say a USB wireless adapter) I wonder how the cards are easy to install? -It looks simple enough.

In addition, the cards I have met on Ebay, all seem to be pretty standard, but are there any features or specifications should I look out for or seek to avoid?

Probably pretty simple questions, but I think it's better to get it right the first time, rather than ordering something, I can find is not compatible, or that I can not install.

    Andy.

    Hello

Can you please send what Satellite A30 you (A30 - xxx)?

Anyway, if I remember well WLAN upgrade shouldn't be problematic (if the laptop WLAN ready). In the lower corner you will find the WLAN card cover (a smaller one). You can find the WLAN card slot. Put the card inside and connect the WLAN antenna. The white cable be connected to the HAND and black to the auxiliary voltage
