Satellite M40-225 and PCMCIA Vista driver

I have lost my original for my M40 discs so bought a copy of Vista to install on my computer, when I install everything first that the computer would not start so I searched on the internet and it seems that there is a conflict with the PCMCIA and Vista drivers. I followed the advice on the forum, and managed to get vista to load by removing all files related to the PCMCIA drivers.

Vista is in charge now, but I am unable to find updated drivers for the PCMCIA location running. I use this port for my Wi - Fi has inside it was very slow with my router. I tried to download the drivers for Toshiba but there not those of Vista. I reinstalled the original but they still don t work although Vista is in charge now. Does anyone know a solution to my problem?

Thanks Steve

Hello

First the M4 I put t understand why there is a conflict between the PCMCIA and Vista drivers!
The drivers are included in the Vista operating system so how did you remove these drivers and how did you install Vista on this laptop?

In addition, the phone supports PC card and you can use the R2.01 PCMCIA, PC Card 16 (multifunction cards) and 32-bit PCMCIA cards. The BIOS determines this slot machine.

Maybe you have updated the BIOS before installing Vista on this unit!

  • Satellite M40-225 does not Windos 7 or Vista?

    Hey,.
I am trying to install Windows 7 on my Toshiba Satellite M40-225, but it does not start after installation. After completing the installation of Windows will try to start for the first to say "prepare your computer for his first start" then after 5 seconds or it will restart and do the same thing again...

The same problem also happens with Windows Vista.

If you have any ideas it would be much appreciated. I thought maybe the RAM, but it passes all Diagnostics, even with the hard drive.

This model of laptop is not designed for Vista or Win7 and equipment do not correspond to the requirements and standards for the two operating systems.

Do you know how old is Satellite M40?
To be honest, I really wonder that you try to install the newest OS on this old laptop model.

  • Various issues with Satellite M40 225

    Hello

I am having some problems with my laptop Satellite M40-225. -Here's...

First of all when booting I get a bad / lack error OSB, in order for me to get to the start I must incline Press esc, go into the bios then get out of the bios tilt the laptop again and it will start then.

Also I sometimes get errors BOSD, sometimes he mentions ati2, but above all it says physical memory.

I have flashed the bios to try to get rid of the first error but no luck.
Nothing new has been installed on the laptop, I even reloaded windows and tried with a spare hard drive, but nothing seems to work!

Please help, I know that probably need something alternative, but I don't want to start buying things for her I have I don't know what's going to fix it.

    Thank you

    Susie

    Hello

AFAIK usually Missing/Bad OSB logo error message is displayed if the error was detected in the BIOS or CMOS ROM module

But according to the BSOD with physical memory error error, I guess that your modules of memory are not correct and that this must be the main reason for you questions.

Of course I could be wrong also, and perhaps the whole issue is related to the faulty motherboard but in the first step, you should check your modules of memory installed.

Hope you will get rid of these questions after a replacement memory.
    I keep fingers crossed ;)

    Good luck

  • Satellite M40-225: confused about Bluetooth

You just bought a Satellite M40-225. Checked forum for issues of bluetooth but, to be honest, I got a little confused!

Basically I want to use bluetooth and guess I need some kind of adapter. Suggestions? Need to download drivers or anything like that too?

More... (!), I have a PowerMac G5 and airport network wireless broadband BT Yahoo. Is it possible to connect my new PC to a network of MAC - or is it the Devil's own work?

    Thank you

    Hello

Satellite M40 has no Bluetooth. This means that you must buy a USB BT's key. It's not expensive and installation is very simple. Usually, if you buy the one that you will get the software CD. Before installing any software, check if your unit has installed Bluetooth stack.

I'm sure you will find battery Bluetooth for Windows by Toshiba V3.10.00 on your device. In the control panel check Add and Remove Programs option. List all the installed components.

    Good luck!

The Vista installation disc is a DVD. Apparently, you don't have a DVD player. You would need to purchase/install a DVD-ROM or DVD - RW to install Vista. Are you sure that your hardware supports Vista before doing this?

Even if a minimum of 1 GB, the requirements in the real world Vista requires a minimum of 2 GB of RAM to run without problem. You will also need Vista drivers for all your hardware.

  • Satellite M40-313 and Vista

    Hello

I m a surfer of money with a counter top, but my 22 year old daughter, as recently bought it a second hand Toshiba Satellite M40 313, now she wanted to put Windows Vista Ultimate OS on it, I had my doubts, so I increased the RAM to 2gbs and gave it a try, it seems to work very well, he's a bit slow , after a couple of days a week and after several software maybe init started acting a bit erratic.

Question is the will of the hold of the laptop operating system or would it be wise to low-grade it back.

Yes, you must reinstall WXP. There are several reasons for this. My friends has the same model of laptop and it works well with Windows XP Home edition.
So, this former model of laptop is designed for Windows XP Home edition and Toshiba offers no Vista support for this model of laptop. This means that there are no drivers or tools or utilities available. You will never be able to set up well with Vista.

Install WXP using recovery delivered image or install your own WXP and all drivers, tools and utilities. You can find them on the Toshiba support page. In my view, it must be some leaves in ARCHIVES.

If you need more help with installing Windows XP edition family thanks for posting again.

  • Satellite M40-129 and drivers Win7

    Hello

I just installed Win7 on my Toshiba Satellite M40-129. It was really hard... Windows refuses to complete the installation until I deleted pcmcia.sys in the windows system folder.

Now I have the problem that my pcmcia cardbus is working nor my SD card reader. As soon as I ask for Win7 to update driver PCMCIA, the doesn´t of the computer unbootable until I have again to remove pcmcia.sys.

Now my question: I can live with having one for not working the PCMCIA port, but there all the drivers available for windows 7 and the Cardbus SD?

    Thank you very much.

    Technohead

This old Satellite is not supported for Win7 and you won't find any driver for it. It is not easy to configure the hardware on these old books but Win7 has good drivers base and, after several Microsoft updates most of the equipment must be installed correctly.

What you can try is to try to install the driver designed for another model of laptop. Perhaps satellite A100 or Satellite A200. I put t know if this will help but you can test it in any case.

  • Satellite A210-14 and Windows 7 - driver issues

    Jyn

I use the Satellite A210 + 14 years with Vista at the moment, but I want to install the Windows7 in next time.
But in the list of supported models is not Satellite A210 Series (http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9902P50000R01DE.htm) is there no Driver Support for Windows7 and the series A210, or would the A210 don't run with Windows7?

I found on the website of some drivers (http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU) but I think that these drivers for all the hardware? I've read anything about SDcard touchpad driver or driver chipset drivers...?

    Thanks for your replies

    Hey Buddy

    Don t worry!
All you will get for Win 7!

I installed Win 7 on my A210 and Win 7 recognized most of the devices.
In addition, I installed the VAP (additional package) for Satellite A300 and installed the support flash Cards out to Satellite L500 utility. The flash card tool is important for the FN keys.

WLan, LAN and graphics driver have been recognized by Win 7.
But you can also use the Win 7 driver automatic installation option in the Device Manager, choose the device, and then choose Update driver
The first option will allow you to search for a driver updates automatically option s nice!

    Hello community,

need a new HARD drive for my * Satellite M40 154 GR PSM 40th *. The old a HDD is: Toshiba MK8025GAS. The new need Toshiba also, 5400 RPM and 80-100GB capacity.
I already try to find out which is right for my laptop, but I do not understand much about the HARD drives. There are more types, like GSX... But I need one that is compatible with my M40. Pleas help.

    Kind regards.

AFAIK you can use each HARD top of page 120 GB disk because your laptop is a limitation of LBA 28 bits. This means that you can use the top of 128 GB of DISK space.

The new HARD drive should be have an IDE interface and size 2.5. All that s and normally each Toshiba HDD should work with these specifications.

  • Satellite M40 - start and stop issue

    Hello

I have a problem with my laptop Satellite M40 on stop to the low process sometimes also on windows start and I think it's BIOS associates.

When I start my laptop, sometimes (not always) I get an error message in a blue screen saying that my BIOS is not fully ACPI-compatible... I reboot, and if I wait a while, the system boots normally, but if I just restart immediately, he'll get the same message.
It happens sometimes that the computer goes further opening in the black screen message: contact tomorrow: toshiba

The other problem, I don't know if it of related or not, is that the computer is not shut down or restart. I have to do it by pressing the button for a while. I thought it was an application that I had in my system that was the cause, but I have just formatted the hard drive and the same mistakes are still ongoing...

When it stops, it stops right on the message: 'Windows is shutting down... ". »

I updated my BIOS with the new available for download here to toshiba support, and I think it was the trigger for all these problems... now I don't know how to go back, or even if it's the reason.
I really hope someone here can help me, because I just wanted all the information related to the internet without success.

    Thank you!

    Hello

Satellite M40 is well-known for me because one of my friends has one at home. Laptop very nice.

So, what can I say? It's really not easy to say what the problem is here, but if you use Windows XP Home edition for a long time, it can happen that one day to happen strange things. I believe that no one here can say with certainty what the problem with your machine.

If possible, you should clean OS installation using recovery media delivered. After doing this, you should see what is happening. In this case, no one can say that there are programs that have bad influence on the execution of the operating system.

  • When changing the 80 GB to 40 GB HARD drive, Satellite M40 does not recognize the drive

    Hi all

    Thanks for coming in! :)
I recently source two-disc 40GB 2.5 "IDE and intended to run one of them in my Satellite M40.

    The problem starts here:

    (1) I took the original 80 GB hard drive & install the 40 GB hard drive
    (2) start and put in the Toshiba M40 recovery disk
    (3) display screen 'Y' for recovery blah blah blah thing...
    (4) then the screen shows 'cannot be installed because no hard drive found ".
    (5) I boot in the BIOS using F2-> F1, page 2 shows no hard drive

    (6) I try to use my own CD of Windows XP Pro, same thing (as in no hard drive found)
    (7) and the BIOS too show no hard drive found

The two disk 40 GB is out of mobile work and they formatted it, partition deleted with NOTHING on it. They have also been tested on other PCs (using the converter) using WXP. Two of them work very well!

Now, the weird thing is that I just can't make it work at least in the Sat - M40. Why is this? Toshiba locked the M40 being one Toshiba-disc is usable?
Is there a place to get through it? Hidden BIOS?

I have fixed a large number of PCs, but I can't with this, Please HELP...
Any response would be appreciated, thanks! :)

    Hello

The M40 should be able to use 40 GB hard drives with no problems.
But you must use hard drives with the right interface.
To my knowledge the M40 supports hard drives with an interface IDE (ATA-6).

So be sure that your 40 GB HARD drive supports it.

By the way; Check if your HARD drive supports the good master or slave definition.

  • Satellite M40-185: DVD super multi drive does not read the CD

    I own a Toshiba Satellite M40-185. It is mounted with a carpet * a DVD-RAM UJ - 831S.
When I put the CD - R, which are supposed to work on this drive however it read as a CD - R [i.e. the icon changes from DVD - RAM drive in my computer to a CD - R]

However, when you double-click the drive it says D:\ accicble not. But it works fine with DVD.
Recently, I found that it stops between buring DVD as well. I got the replaced disk from Toshiba, but it was not to last long either.
I wonder if his software level problem.

I tried to update the firmware but it does not work because it's another drive for this what is mentioned on the website for drivers...

Maybe it s only a registry error?
I read different statements here in the forum and especially the deletion of in the upper and lower registry filters helps to address these issues.

For more information, see this page of Microsoft Knowledge:

  • Windows on Satellite M40-276 - no visible HARD drive installation

    Hello

Since the end of the week, I had time to start my Toshiba Satellite M40-276 (PSM44E)...

I installed Windows XP Pro, I don't remember installing any kind of SATA/PATA drivers, but unfortunately Windows Setup does not recognize the hard drive installed, which was never changed.

Now, I have discovered that the hard disk sometimes does not appear in the BIOS?
Is there any type of driver that I can download and include in a Windows installation CD?

When I start the laptop with Knoppix 5.1.1 I can copy and access to all files on NTFS formatted disks, the hard drive itself should be well (im checking with HDD Regenerator v1.51 on a Boot CD for the moment).

And I have another question - y at - it an update of the BIOS for the Satellite M40-276 (PSM44E) which can be flashed on a boot CD? On the official homepage I can only find the update of the BIOS Windows :(

    Thanks for your patience...

    Best regards

    Robert of Austria

    Hello

Have you tried to reinstall the OS from the Toshiba restore CD? Or did you use the clean Windows XP CD?

AFAIK the M40 supports a SATA HDD and the laptop was equipped with a SATA HDD controller.
Windows XP with SP2 should recognize the HARD disk properly.
If your XP doesn t contains SP2 and include it using the program nLite

    > And I have another question - y at - it an update of the BIOS for the Satellite M40-276 (PSM44E) which can be flashed on a boot CD? On the official homepage, I can only find the Windows BIOS update

No, only the win-version of the BIOS is available on the Toshiba page!

  • Satellite M40 - format and install NO CD from recovery

    Hello
I need to format the hard drive and install XP Pro SP2 on my Satellite M40 - 239 (pre installed XP HE). How do we install the Express Media Player? Do I need to do before installing with my own XP disks? The Express Media recovery disk reformat the hard disk and let me choose the size of the partition etc.? Or should I first install XP SP2 (not from the recovery disk, it is my own), then the media player? And how do I install all of the tools supplied preinstalled in the factory? On the product recovery disc, it seems there is no installation of software for them, am I stuck with XP it if I want to keep the tools (Bluetooth, ConfigFree etc.)?

    Hello

Well, the drivers needed on the Toshiba page you will find:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Please also check out this other post:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=8872

    On the express media player:

Should at least 150-200 MB of available free space on the HARD drive.
This free space must be on the end of the HARD drive and there must be unallocated.
To get this space available on party products 3rd HARD drive must be used.
