Satellite M40 - Fn + F8 key does not

Hello comrades toshiba owners and peoples. Once I was using my laptop (M40-SF300E) and I accidentally pressed Fn and the key F8, which is supposed to turn off my wireless. He has worked all too well. Now the Wireless does not resume if I press Fn + F8.

I managed to turn it on by flipping the switch in front of the computer running manually the wireless on. But when I turned my computer off and turn it back on again, or if I it hibernates and then turn the again the wireless is turned off automatically. I wish it were automatically on when I turn on the computer again as it was once that of the right of the box.

PS: Anyone know if there is a updated firmware for the DVD writer read or write 16 x DVD?

Thank you, Matt.

Hello

After use of the WLAN connection you should always disable with the FN + F8 key combination. Stop it with the wireless antenna switch.

The issue you described is very strange. I tested it with my Tecra and if WIFI is on I can use the sleep or hibernation mode, but after waking up the WLAN is automatically enabled.

Have you ever tried to use the System Restore tool to restore the operating system before the date.

I put t believe that some firmware can change the write speed of your drive. As far as I know he is technical issue and you cannot force the mechanic to work faster. Firmware is good if you have problems with the empty media.

Good bye

    Hello

To me that sounds more like a keyboard failure, I can't imagine that it could be linked to the question of the windows operating system do you have tested an external USB keyboard.

Please test this. In this case, you can check if it s really a software problem.
If the USB keyboard works correctly, it means that your internal keyboard is malfunctioning.

FN key does not work. .. help me please

What do you think of the radical solution to install the new OS by using recovery image?
With the factory settings, it will certainly be working again.

  • Satellite M40-237: CD Boot does not not + is possible startup USB key drive

    * Model: Satellite M40-237 (PSM40E) *.

I decided to reinstall windows, my hard drive is now formatted. So as usual, boot from the Windows CD is necessary to start the instalation but it does not start. I never had problems like this, always worked boot. It's as if there is no bootable CD in the drive (but it is bootable and it works on another PC).

-J' have the latest version of the BIOS
-The BIOS detects the optical drive and everything is ok, HARD is the ODD main drive is secondary
-J' tried selecting the boot priority, with F12 and/or the BIOS setting but it works anyway

What could be the problem here? Drive does not properly (hopefully, that and not something worse)? I had some problems with the drive I have (...) before, but it reads the disc normally and as I said start was working fine before. I cleaned the lens a bit, disconnected it and it put. Is there something more, what can I do?

I'll try to find someone who has the player that fits so I can try with that one, but who knows when is what will be.

Now, here's the second question, which I've linked to this. Because my laptop is practically useless now (I can't install anything), is it possible to boot from a:
    (a) optical drive USB external
    (b) USB flash drive

BIOS on this laptop has no USB boot option, it has HARD drive / CD / floppy / network. But I red somewhere this FDD = USB legacy emulation is enabled.

If that is correct, I should just plug in the USB key and select FDD as boot option? If I can't find a USB optical drive, I thought make it bootable USB flash drive and copy the installation of windows xp on it. So once it starts in DOS I start just the installer from the key.

First I must say that the initialization of memory flash USB (USB key) is not possible and you shouldn't t waste time to try this.

  • Satellite M40-307: accessibility utility does not work with the limited user account

    Hello everyone,

I have a Satellite M40-307 (PSM44E), and I had a problem with the utility "accessibility", which displays an icon in the notification bar of Windows XP, to inform the user if the "Fn" key is active or not.

This utility would not work for the administrator would not worry so much, because the administrator is supposed to know what he does. But the limited user doesn't have access, that bother anymore.

In Administrator, this utility works quite well. But during a session of limited user, if I try to launch it in [runas / user: admin "C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\Windows Utilities\TACSPROP.exe"],
I am replied that the file TCMSVR. DLL is not found. If I launch normally, a message tells me that this utility requires that I am logged on as administrator.

So, what can I do to use this utility normally, i.e. in a limited user Sessiona? *

    Hello

Well, you should try to activate the rights for the TACSPROP.exe.
To do this, you must enter the operating system as an administrator.
Choose the application, right click. There is a Security tab. Here, you need to activate the permissions for all users.

    Hello

Also try switching to the external device settings Intel. You can find it under Advanced display settings. I also recommend you to reinstall the TOSHIBA utilities. I'm not 100% sure but it may be responsible for the function FN + F5.

Also check Toshiba HWSetup under the view tab. Activate LCD + analog RGB option.

  • Satellite L505-13D - Fn key does not work

    Hello
I have some problems in my laptop

Key Fn - 1 does not work with any service of Toshiba, only with windows keys, this happened after some windows critical updates (win 7 64 bit)
    2. I have not found my cell phone ' number series or in the site Web of Toshiba part number.

    Please can someone help me
    Thank you

    Hello

The FN keys are controlled by the Support of Flash memory card utility.
You will need to reinstall this tool.
But also the VAP (value added package) must be reinstalled.

I recommend first of all remove the system from the Flash and the PPV card.
Then restart the device and clean the registry with CCleaner.
After that, you need to install the two tools VAP and Flash memory card Support utility

  • Satellite Pro A200 - Fn keys does not work with Windows Vista

    Hello

I own a Satellite Pro A200-PSAE7E and a license to retail for Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit Edition (with SP1) is installed.

Before installing Vista, I have updated the BIOS to the latest version available on the Toshiba site ([http://it.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/vista_drivers.jsp?service=IT]).
BIOS version is now 2.20 - WIN32 contained in this file: [http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bios-20080404121735.zip]

After the installation of the operating system, I installed "Value package" ([http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/vap-20080109135106.zip]) that contains the "utility Flash Cards". In my understanding, the installation of the "value added package" should allow the use of Fn keys.
This doesn't seem to be true or not true.

    Here's what's happening.

-Prior to installation of the 'value-added' package, all Fn keys did not work.
-After installation of the "value added package", if the process of TCrdMain.exe is running, all Fn keys do not work.
-If I remove the startup TCrdMain.exe and I restart the PC, only a few keys Fn function (Fn + ESC, Fn + F1).

There is no way (or I have not found a way) for all keys Fn works.

Someone knows how to fix this?

    Thanks in advance,

    mme000

I am not sure, but it may be because of the SP1. I installed Vista Ultimate on A200 and stuff all listed (drivers, tools and utilities) from Toshiba support page.

Contains your Vista DVD facilities SP1 or you install on your own? If you install Vista Ultimate Edition (without SP1) and all the stuff on the Toshiba support site order Instructions of facilities.

  • Satellite L735-103: one key does not work after BIOS update

    Hello

I got a Sat L735-103, part no: PSK0CE - 00N0OUEP and I download the bios for this pc, toshiba Web site.
I have updated bios with no problem, but now a realization thatm a key (the key located in the good of "* f ' and 'z') of the keyboard does not work.
I have a plate with windows and linux, and the result is the same.

Maybey I need to go back to the old bios, but in the toshiba Web site only have a bios download: (.)

    Hello

Somehow, I can't believe that this button malfunction has something to do with the new BIOS.
Have you noticed the anomaly key immediately after the update of the BIOS?
You have default BIOS? If not, access the BIOS by pressing F2 when starting the laptop.
Here, you can set default BIOS and then save the changes.

If this is not enough, I would recommend contacting the Toshiba ASP because the technician must check whether the button is defective. In this case, replace the keyboard. The technician would be able to downgrade the BIOS as well and could check if it of really a BIOS issue.

    Hey all

I have installed XP a few weeks back and updated the bios to the xp version
I didn't like it and I went back to vista but now my function does not work.

I press and press the screen brightness but controls no longer appear and I have to use manually with my mouse or via the mobility Center
is it because of the bios? I downloaded the new bios for vista and now it says that the rom space is full and closed unexpectedly

What should I do? Help much appreciated

    Hello

The problem is that you must update the BIOS to the XP version if you want to use all the features of the laptop on this laptop.
After installing XP, you must update the BISO XP, and then you install all the drivers Toshiba XP available and public services.

    This should help.
