Satellite M40x-189: on the HARD drive and graphics card update Question
Hi people just a few quick questions.
1. a second hard drive can I be mounted on the cell above?... it came with a 60 GB HARD drive
graphics mobile geforce or ati 2. can / will be mounted instead of the integrated graphics card?
the answers would be greatly appreciated.
Hello
It is not possible to upgrade or replace the graphics card. The graphics card is a small chip that attaches to the motherboard. It s not the same technology as on desktop computers.
Upgrading the HARD drive is something different. It of possible to replace the HARD drive to another. But before you replace the HARD drive, you must check if the HARD disk is compatible and if the BIOS will recognize.
Sometimes the BIOS cannot recognize the hardest.
Good bye

Satellite 5100 503: change the HARD drive and start questions
My hard drive in my Satellite 5100 broke down and I want to change it.
According to various posts in the forum, it is not possible to start the 5100 from a CD when there is a (new) hard drive in the machine. And the only way to change the boot sequence is via Windows - what does more - there is no other way to change the settings of the BIOS within Windows.
I looked in the manual - I find no mention after pressing F12 C or any other combination to change the boot sequence (of course I tried yet without result). The only thing I found possible is to press ESC + F1 for BIOS settings default _restore_. And turning the power on by pressing on the left of the space bar gives me the opportunity to Flash a new BIOS.
Is this really so? Because that would mean I'm stuck. And in this case I will just save the money for the new hard drive and throw my laptop... (and probably by another brand next time - but I sincerely hope that is not so much...)
Thanks in advance.
Best regards
ThomasNice. ;)
To my knowledge, it was always possible to boot from the CD. Also, after replacing the HARD drive -
As mentioned above, this is a new system, but with a more older IDE hard drive with windows xp pack 2 service (I think). When you first start, it says that windows is not stopped correctly and asks me to choose whether to start it normally or without failure or last known working configuration. When I choose to start windows normally, it will load up to a point. The screen of Windows Xp will come with the slide bar. It will then restart. When I choose to start in safe mode, a bunch of 32 file system scrolls upwards on the screen. I don't remember if it of normal or not. He takes over in SafeMode but. I went to the event viewer and got the following errors.

I did find something online that contains all the system boot or start specific drivers. Windows and harddrive was working in another computer just before he was switched. Let me know if you need other information.
Thank you.
First of all you are missing probably a number of device drivers, particularly the network card driver and the driver of the motherboard. Use your XP disk to perform a repair installation. This should go a long way toward you're going to get. If your new box has a driver disc that should help a lot. You can't port XP perfectly the way you did. It usually requires a repair installation to fix the hardware abstraction layer. Colin Barnhorst

Hello guys. I would like to replace the HARD drive and the RAM in my HP laptop. I would check the compatibility. For the momemt, I have 2 x 512 MB of RAM and a 160 GB HARD drive. Does anyone know the type of RAM (DDR1 or DDR2 most) and the accepted maximum capacity. Also the SATA port is a SATA I? Besides, I'm going to change the operating system (preferably in Win 7) so is there a driver?
You can install DDR2-800 modules and they are the most widely available at this point, but the memory will run at 667 mhz speed.

original title: lack of games
I have an Acer Aspire PC. It came loaded with Windows Vista Home Premium. Recently, I reformatted the hard drive and did a clean installation of Windows 7 Professional.I have no games. No solitaire, Minesweeper, no nothing. How can I, without seeking to erase and reinstall again? To activate the built-in Windows 7 games:
1. click on Start (lower-left) and then on Control Panel.
2. click on programs and features.
3. on the left side of the screen, click on 'Windows turn features on or off".
4. find the entry called games & check the box next to it.
5. click on OK.
6 reset.
If the games box is already checked, uncheck the box , click OK, restart, then do steps 1-6 above.

Repair shop wiped the hard drive and gave the wrong version of XP
I have an Acer Aspire one model ZG5, which came with XP home. While still under warranty, the pad has stopped working and would then start is more upward. I sent it in for repair, they wiped the hard drive and fixed my problems. Except, instead of reinstalling XP Home Edition, XP Professional installed. I can't use my computer without first professional activator, which I just can't do it, and I don't have a version of the House that I can install myself. I wouldn't rather to pirate a copy, but I'm not sure how to get a copy of the House, I already bought once and do not feel that I should buy it a second time. How could I go solve this?
Back to whom you have sent your computer for repair and request that they make good (on) copy of Windows back or give you a license key valid for the version that they installed.

Check that your antivirus (all-in-one suite If you have one) is not turn off your network traffic.
Note the devices installed in the machine. Use this information to download the latest version of the drivers and software for the manufacturer's Web site features (on another machine and store on an external support, I suppose, would be the only way for you to do.)
Uninstall the software/drivers for network devices. Turn it back on. Even if pilots are found/installed automatically, manually update the drivers & software using the files you downloaded earlier.
Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:
Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)
Search online with eSet Online Scanner.
Open a command prompt and run the commands following one at a time (after each ENTRY) without leaving the part through if somehting started working... Note all errors and post them here.
netsh winsock reset catalog
ipconfig / renew

Remove the hard drive and optical drive on HP pavilion 500-164
Hello
I was eager to build a new computer and was hoping to use the hard drive and the optical drive from the Hp Pavilion 500-164 to reduce their costs. I'm confused as to how to remove the optical drive, because I removed the two screws on the left and don't know how to get to the other side as it wouldn't come out. When you remove the hard drive, the SATA cable wouldn't come off, so I stopped here and would like some advice on how to remove the hard drive from its Bay.
Thank you

My computer crashed and the system recovery was the only option. I know this reformats the hard drive and actually returned the PC to factory State, but I cannot now access all of my old emails and contacts on OE. I managed to configure OE once again, so I can receive messages via my site, but really need to come back to the 'old'. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Two points:
Suggestions 1. see Bruce Hagen, but it is highly unlikely that you can get everything back. When you perform a system recovery, you lose everything that was on the disc.
2. it is late to tell you this, but like you apparenly had no backup on external media, you're playing with fire. For the future, you can read this article I wrote: "how to return your computer regularly upward and reliable" to http://www.computorcompanion.com/LPMArticle.asp?ID=314

How to reformat the hard drive and do a "clean" install
A recent virus attack, my computer has lost some files of the operating system. With the help of the Lim has provided the recovery disk, which offered ' upgrade/repair' or a 'new installation '. I chose ' install new ', actually I found many of my files are still there - that means that if a virus has escaped "Detection / removal" will always be there.
Question: How to reformat the hard drive and do a 'fresh install' on a clean hard disk "? ". (I have a drive to Win XP with service pack 3 and a driver disk for the hardware installed on my computer of the regulations.)
Thanks in advance

Since you have a Dell and a recovery CD and not a recovery Partition, check how many partitions you need by using disk management:
http://www.theeldergeek.com/disk_management.htm
In case you have a partition with the operating system and a partition of the utility partition, I would only recommend formatting the partition from the OS. The Partition utility can be very useful.

Reformat the hard drive and a clean reinstall of Vista
Hello
I was wondering if you could advise me if this is possible.
I have Vista on a partition, a home machine built dual boot (with XP), who begins to fill. I decided to stop using XP, whichis sitting on the second partition of the hard drive, and I want to reformat the disk and a partition with Vista on it. Taking into
mind, I'm not bothered about losing all the data and save nothing, in my opinion, I don't want to lose, can I just reformat the hard disk into a single
Partition and reinstall Vista? I'm sure that the answer is Yes, but my main concern is to ensure my "serial key" is accepted and that the activation
process will go smoothly. Read other messages I prefer not to use Vista to reduce the size of the XP partition and prefer to make one
clean install.
Your help and feedback will be greatly appreciated.On Thu, September 16, 2010 08:40:58 + 0000, rainb0wman wrote:

Yes. Do a clean install of Vista and leave this formatting occur
the first stage of the installation.aI'm sure that the answer is Yes, but my main concern is to ensure my "serial key".
You mean the product key, not series.
is accepted and that the activation
process will go smoothly. You can reinstall and reactivate as many times as you need or want.
No problem. Worst case, if it's some time since the last
activation, you may need to activate by phone call, but it's
quick and easy.Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP
