El Capitan requires 2 gigabytes of memory.  A reasonable minimum is 4gig.  You prefer get 8gig.  you prefer to get an external hard drive to back up your machine. The Profile Manager is a separate download?  -No - I think.  Thus, you prefer to buy the el Capitan Server version.

• Satellite M40X-189 wont start - Power lights but the white screen

  When you power on the laptop the power light lights up and the supply fan turns on but nothing on the screen.
  Then sometimes shuts down or blue light stays power away, and eventually turns off.

  So frustrating, have no money for the nine for daughter or to pay for costly repairs, praying there s an easy solution (but deeply towards the low no it will not be case).

  Try reinstalling the memory (RAM). Or if you have recently installed more RAM, remove the additional module

• Satellite M40X-189 - replace HARD disk - what size should I go to?

  Hi, I have a SATELLITE M40X-189, I would like to replace the hard drive and would like if possible some recommendations!
  I know I need an ide/pata and I currently have a hard disk of 40 GB hitachi 5400 rpm installed. The memory is just what came installed originally, (512 MB, no upgrade).

  So what size I can up to?
  I have a lot of music/photos and video to change so must also size decent 80 GB would be enough?
  I really don't use it for anything other than that, and also the navigation on the internet. Although I often have a few programs running at the same time which causes problems... freeze, (in particular I tunes) and generally slow running.

  I'm confident on the physical replacement, and I know how to clone my old drive hard etc, but just need some info about the size and speed and if possible
  a recommendation of the manufacturer. Just worried about incompatibility really issues.

  Also, if you think I should install more memory, which size and make and model may recommend.

  Is the M40X series supports the IDE controller and I think that you need a 2.5 IDE HDD.
  The old ide controllers are limited to 128 GB with 28-bit LBA
  However, you can take an 80 GB or 120 GB HARD drive and it should work fine

• Problem starting on satellite M40X-189

  I have a satellite M40X-189 2 years under XP. The problem I have is very slow to start, and I can hear a steady tone. Finally when he started in windows when I go to a prompt BACK or the run button I get a load of vvvvvvvvvvvv running across the screen.

  I checked Kingston website, because there you can search for compatible modules on satellite M40X-189.
  Did you do that too?

  It shows the following compatible modules:
  KTT3311A/512 512 MB SO-DIMM (915)
  KTT3311A / 1 G 1 GB SO DIMM (915)

  Son in your case, I would buy these modules! ;)

  I think that you´re in serious trouble now. If you have ever tried to get a recovery, unfortunately without success to an ASP, you will need to buy one in the United Kingdom.
  It would be best to contact a partner registered in the city of you´ve bought the machine and ask them for a replacement of your lost recovery.

  I wonder if I can use Kingston KTD-INSP5150 / 1 G instead of KTT3311/1 G? They are all two PC2700 200-pin DDR SODIMM 333 MHZ but KTD-INSP5150 / 1 G is mainly used for other laptops.

  Someone sell KTD-INSP5150 / 1 G on good price reasonable but do not know if it is compatible?

  Above all Equium M40x can be upgraded to 2 GB of memory. You need to the MMAR DDR SO-DIMM modules with specification PC2700. You can use up to 1 GB in each of the slots.

  Furthermore, I checked the Web of Kingston site because it has Configurator memory. If you are looking for satellite M40x-189, you will get two compatible memory modules:
  KTT3311A/512 (512 MB SO-DIMM)
  KTT3311A / 1 G (1 GB SO DIMM)

  So in your case I would buy one or two of these modules because they seem to be compatible with your computer satellite phone. ;)

  I work with device of automatic titration requiring the RS232 port for connection!

  AFAIK the RS-232 port is a serial port and I don t think that it of possible to connect the RGB port to the RS232 port.

  If I use an external monitor, I have a picture.

  I think the best way is that you pass to a local ASP.

  On your laptop there is something wrong with the LCD or the cable and maybe the motherboard also. If a technician should check this and he can exchange all necessary parts for you.
