Satellite M50-176: the outside temperature to warm up

Hello

I have buyed 2 months ago a m50-176 new, but since then, like a month, I realize that become too hot during normal use temperature as read emails, download a file from the internet and chat through a... IM from a video game that the computer is really really too hot , expecially in the bottom, hopefully where the processor...

I found this problem on windows and linux systems, only allowing the scaling of the cpu to 20-30%, the temperature became acceptable, but it is impossible that I must still work towards the bottom of the clock.

Excuse me for my bad English, but please if you can tell me if this model has generally become too hot or maybe I have some problem

Thank you!

Hi Gabriele,

Laptops more modern become very hot especially adjacent discs on the heatsink and CPU in the vicinity of the HARD drive and optical. This is due to the increasing amount of processing power, which is being locked in a small space.

I think that Toshiba now put a sticker on the bottom of their notebooks of warning concerning the possibility to make them warm and possibly burn the user if they are not correctly positioned.

It is very important that you keep the free admission air grids of any obstructions and also ensure there is no build-up of dust and debris in the cooling system. (you will see this discussed many times in these forums.)

Laptop Toshiba computers include a thermal safety device that will turn off the laptop where it is too hot.

Kind regards

  • Question on recovery satellite M50-176

    Hello world
I have a Satellite M50-176 and I'm unable to get into windows, and I think that I have to restore the OS files.
I have three CD/DVD toshiba dated 2005 (the recovery disk, media express recovery CD and CD extra software).
I don't want to completely format/erase the hard drive, but I need all the files that I so want to do just a restore.
Thanks for the attention and help!

Published by: ADMIN on May 25, 2008 08:05

    Hello

The restore CD contains the image of Toshiba file.
This file is a package and it contains the OS Win, Toshiba drivers, utility tools and additional software. Simply said that it contains everything that was preinstalled on your computer.

The express recovery CD media contains the Express Media Player and other software CD contains tools and drivers.

What you need is the recovery CD. It will set your notebook back to factory settings.
If you want to use the standard recovery option then the whole HARD disk will be formatted.

But there should also be an expert recovery option. This option would be to format only partition on the HARD drive.

In your case, I would use the recovery expert option.

    Best regards

  • Satellite A300D (PSAHCE) - the high temperature of the processor

    Hi guys.

I have a problem that happens with my Toshiba Satellite A300D.

I downloaded Speedfan to check the temperature of my CPU, HD, and GC and noticed that my CPU temperature is always around 80 ° c and when I have, for example, media player and Open firefox, it bypasses 90 º C. Is this normal? A lot of times if I opened a second schedule it arrives at 102º C and the CPU count starts to break down to lower the temperature. My computer also crashed several times because the CPU temperature reached 108 degrees.

Now, what can I do? I can't control my speed of fan and the fan works only when the CPU is used: (.)
Is it possible to put the fan runs constantly? Overclocking the processor would help with this issue? I have only a fan in my computer?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello

Bad OS/software/driver may cause Cpu and Gpu fiercely because of an overload. In this case must be reinstalled or removed. In addition, cooling modules may be clogged and not provided sufficient ventilation, you must clean with a jet of compressed air to blow off the dust. The thermal paste should be replaced...

  • Satellite M50 - charges the battery only when stopped

My Satellite M50 battery only when stopped. Does this mean that when I work I'm still running on batteries, which of course carry out completely after 1 to 2 hours. Then I shut down the computer and it started charging again (orange led), and after a few hours, I still have a 100% charged battery.

Of course, this means that the computer is not available. Until a few weeks ago it used to have the same problem if I disconnected the power plug then reconnected it: the battery needed to dump then to 0%, even if the power is connected, but now the problem is constant.

I've updated to the latest version of the BIOS, I could find and even completely reinstall windows from the recovery disks, but the problem is still there. The computer is a Toshiba Satellite M50 - 126 model PSM51E, the BIOS is Phoenix BIOS v2.10

Is it possible that the BIOS is damaged of some sort? I tried to reinstall V2.10 but he told me that I have the same version and it will not be installed.

    Hi lartech,.

You can recharge the battery if you get into the BIOS and made the battery charging icon light?
Are you using the original Toshiba AC/DC adapter and battery?

In the worst case, it s a malfunction of the motherboard, and you have done what you can do: BIOS update and to install Windows from the recovery disc. If this doesn't help s a bad hardware work.

  • Satellite A200-1TP - the high temperature of the processor

Hello, I have never had a problem with my laptop up to now... I was playing a game when I couldn't play more because my keyboard was raging on the left side.
I checked the temperature of the cpu and it was 80 c! I don't know too much about temperatures, but I think it is too high.
I closed the game and he lowered to ~ 60, then I tried a program called orthos to check the performance of the PC while making 400 iterations of lucas-lehmer and it reached 95 C! OK, it's time to do something.
I tried to format my laptop and see what happpens... On 'high performance', it of about 64 c and on 'power saver' must be between 50 - 55 c, a better way but I think it should be lower. I tried to clean the fan with a vacuum and I think it helped a little... I dare not open my phone because I don't know that I'll break it.
The fan is not broken, it is running, I tried using 'speedfan' change rpm, but this program does not detect my fan so I can't do anything...
I don't know why this is happening. I was so happy until now... I would like to repair the laptop, not to buy a laptop cooler, then... what I need to do?

    Thank you

-Furthermore, the disc is 41 c and GPU temperature is 27 c, I think these are ok.

    Hello

    > I tried to format my laptop and see what happens... On 'high performance', it of about 64 c and on 'power saver' must be between 50 - 55 c, a better way but I think it should be lower.

No contact, the temperature will not stay if you run applications of high performance as the games for example.
Running high-performance programs all internal devices must run with max performance which leads to a higher heat dissipation and this leads to a higher temperature

Of course clean dust cooling modules and debris should help cool the laptop better but it won't change the fact that you will always see a higher temperature, running games

PS: CPU keeps the temperature of 100 degrees, that's what I found on the Intel page!

  • Satellite M50 161 - how to set up the WIFI connection?

I use my Satellite as a second computer. My PC is primary and is using a NETGEAR card.

I used a card reminder in wireless cards because my home office is a bit far from the PC.

Of course, my laptop has its own part of the ways to get online.

I've always taken for granted connection. I don't even remember the 1st time I am connected. In fact an engineer could have done to the delivery!

PC had problems connecting. Host Web server problems. I was expecting sort of my laptop to connect in any case, as it could / should connect to it's own wireless installation to get online. I'm not an expert as you realize.

It dawned on me while I had no idea how to switch on and connect using the built-in wireless card that not Netgear obviously. Or I'm expecting a lot and the lap top is actually a slave to my PC connection and always will home in on the netgear connection.

BTW, I'm back online via the netgear but would like to know. Excuse my ignorance...

    Hello

To be honest I m a bit confused.
I put t know exactly what you want to do.

You want to connect the laptop to the other PC via WiFi or connect the Satellite M50 to the WLan router as usual?

If you want to connect to the Wlan router and then activate the wireless card on the laptop with the WLan switch on the side of the laptop and the FN + F9 key combination.
Then configure settings such as the SSID, encryption, Mac address, etc. by using windows has the configuration settings or 3rd party software like utility Intel ProSet or Atheros client utility (depending on the Wlan card).

For more details you can visit the Toshiba Wlan Portal

    Hello

I need help with the Wi - Fi does not work on my Toshiba Satellite M50-106
The pilot is OK but will not.
I had to format the computer

    Hello

At first be that wireless network adapter is installed and registered properly in Device Manager.
If everything is OK he make sure card WLAN is enabled correctly.
Use the combination of keys FN + F8 to enable it, if necessary.

After doing this scan the area and connect to your WLAN.

It sounds simply enough now. Please post comments and to inform us if the problem persists.

  • Satellite M50 CD/DVD burning problems

I recently puirchased a Satellite M50 with the CD/DVD Multi-lecteur. Toshiba literature indicates that it can write both write - once and several CD and DVD - writing.

While I can burn on CD - RW and DVD - RW (DVD + RW) I can't burn discs CD - R or DVD-R (or DVD + R). The error message is something in the sense of ' does not support the driver (or reader) write once discs.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Hello

Well, it's not easy to say why you can t burn on some media. Maybe it s a malfunction of the media?
Have you tried to burn CDs or DVDs from different manufacturers?
I use TDK media and I m very happy. I found an interesting article on the CD/DVD burning.

  • Satellite M50 - how to make scratches disappear from the silver surface

    Hey

so the other week I bought a Toshiba Satellite M50 and I love her!
I'm looking to snap the case for weeks because I know myself and I was sure that I would eventually ruin the outer shell, but I can't find anywhere.

So last night I walk to the top of the stairs and my mother screaming something that makes me jump and I was wearing my phone with the charger on top and to prevent it from falling I really crack down fort and one of the pins on the top of the silver surface striped card.
    I'm so gutted!

So my question is that no one knows what either which can make the scratch disappear or at least fade?

I was thinking solvent, but don't want to try anything where it makes it worse.
know that it's kind of a stupid question, but it's really important to me!
    Thank you!

P.S. I realized that my key U is really steep... any ideas on how I can get this back to normal?

In my opinion there is not an effective method that you can use to remove or fade those stripes.
The surface is damaged and, unfortunately, it will still be visible.

I also think that you should not use dissolving because of the possible chemicals that can damage the surface even more.

Is it deep enough or just scratches superficially?

  • Satellite M50-A-110 does not recognize the new SSD?

    Hello

I bought the M50-A-110 model and tried to replace the HARD drive by a Pro 840 Samsung SSD. The laptop does not recognize the SSD drive, so I sent him to the local Toshiba service for inspection.

They discovered that the laptop does not recognize ALL of the latest SSD (they tried to Samsun, Intel, Crucial, Kingston and SSD Seagate). They checked, and I possible newer BIOS, so this isn't a problem, and the SSD worked fine on other computers.

Someone knows how to solve this mess?
Toshiba has a BIOS beta I could try?
Any other ideas would be welcome.

As a user of long date Toshiba, I must say that I am a little disappointed. I mean I work in it, and this is the first time that something like this happened to me with a new product.

    Hello

I can't believe that Satellite M50 - A can not handle any of the mentioned SSDS.

I upgraded my Toshiba laptop with SSD Pro 840. But before I did, the update of the firmware of SSD was necessary. Before the firmware update, the SSD has failed, after the firmware update, BIOS can handle the SSD.

I would recommend to check the SSD for the firmware update!

What is the normal temperature on Satellite A200 psae6?

What temperature do you mean exactly?
    CPU, GPU?

Notes; the temperature depends on the heat dissipation of the unique pieces such as the CPU and GPU.
The heat dissipation is higher when this part would go with superior performance.
So it depends on the use of the laptop how temperature would increase

  • Re: Satellite M50: what is the difference between PA3451U-1BAS or PA3451U-1BRS battery?

I have a Satellite M50 and I'm trying to find a replacement battery.

The drum part # PA3451U-1BAS is original, but I can't seem to find that. I can find the same number with a suffix of BRS. The volts / amps etc. appear identical. The pictures make it look the same.

    What is the difference?
    It fit? Will it work?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

    Hello

As much as I know there is no difference between the two batteries.
These are the 8-cell 4400mAh battery and should be compatible with Satellite M50.

Maybe the PA3451U-1BAS is abandoned and is no longer available.

  • I want to replace the 40 GB HDD on Satellite M50 130

I want to replace the hard drive, because it becomes unreliable, but can't fnd the specs.
Can someone help with the exact specifications please?
Is the drive IDE or SATA?
    Size = 2.5 inches?

I think the original size is 40 GB, can I replace it with any size?

Did the removal and easy replacement? Are there instructions please?
I have a horrible feeling that there may be data recovery for the operating system on a hidden in the drive partition.

Is this correct? May only be transferred to a new hard drive?
    Thank you very much
    Nick

Satellite M50-130 has been delivered with the 2.5 "60 GB HARD drive.
This HARD disk supports a rotational speed of 5400 RPM and it supports an improved IDE (ATA 6) interface.

If you need a HDD IDE and not SATA

You know a laptop that has the buttons too and for whom is the Vista drivers available?

    Kind regards
    Steffen Schreyer

    Hello

Generally these additional buttons needs a Toshiba control utility which is responsible for the good condition of these key market.
Unfortunately, it does appear that an update of the BIOS and the driver of BT has been published for the Satellite M50 PSM53.

But in other sections, you might find a value-added package for Vista.
This package includes a few additional applications.

Maybe this works on an M50. Check the download page of several series of laptops on the pilot.
If this will not work, then you can do nothing ;(
