It's strange. This is: If your USB device is not recognized by the BIOS or there is a problem with a CD/DVD media you are trying to use?

I installed Win7 on my U940 satellite using pairs and IMPAIRES USB original Microsoft installation disc.
Have you tested with different disks bootable?

    I have a Satellite L30 11(d) bought Sept 07.

I'm interested in trying to boot from USB, at the present time, my bios does not.
I am looking to update my bios. There is a updated bios updated for me to download (3.10WIN).

    I have 3 questions:

    (1) 3.10WIN allows to boot from USB?

    (2) is 3.10WIN related to the use of MS Vista? (Looking at this article , it seems that the new phoenix / toshiba bios only allows panoramas...?)

    (3) how to settle?

(with ubuntu 7.10 works well... aside from the sound)

    As to the question;

    (1) No, it is not possible to boot from a memory stick USB HDD or USM

    (2) each BIOS for each series of Toshiba notebook is different! Please don t no matter what other laptop computer BIOS or fixed PCs. Satellite L30 - 10 d belongs to the series of the 3,10 and PSL33E BIOS is OS independent. If your laptop comes with XP then the BIOS supports XP completely. Of course, you can try to install Vista but it is possible that some features of the laptop as FN keys will be does not work

    (3) the BIOS should always be done in the Windows operating system. As you can see on the page of the Toshiba driver the BIOS version is called 3.10Win - version

  • Satellite C660: message: reboots and select good boot device

    Hello

I dropped the laptop today literally a few inches from the ground, it slipped from my hand as I was placing it on the ground. He fell flat.

Now I see the message "reboot and select proper boot device."

I tried a few different options that I read, and I see the HARD drive in the BIOS F2 thing or whatever it is called. If it is recognized, but I can't seem to move in the message. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

PS I will need clear instructions, I'm not stupid, but I need to explain. I don't understand some of the pieces.

    Thank you

    Hello

I think that your HARD drive is bad.
I think that you have not checked it correctly in the BIOS.

Please go to BIOS once more, by pressing F2.
Now on the first page, you will see date, time, details of CD/DVD drive and you should also see the details of the disk (size, name)
    You see that?

Otherwise, the HARD disk is not initialized by the BIOS and this means that, because of the fall, the HARD disk has been damaged.

I tried to install the USB driver out this version of the site 2.0.10.273 - 130101 has for my model. It made no difference.

    Install Windows 8.1 system

    Any ideas? Thank you.

You are able to use this USB through a USB 2.0 port?
    Check it out.

If other external USB 3.0 devices work properly in the frame of your laptop, the problem is related to the Flash Voyager USB

  • Satellite M50D - A - 10 L - installation of Windows 7 UEFI

    I m trying to install Windows 7 on TOSHIBA Satellite M50D - A - 10 L with UEFI boot.

First time I used facility with CSM Boot EFI and it worked fine.

But after I tried to spend in UEFI and make the installation of UEFI, whenever it starts loading setup files and after freez windows on "Starting Windows" screen.

I have two pieces of these ultrabooks and they do the same thing.

I used Flash disk, USB CD-ROM, two different versions of windows 7, but it have same endpoint...

    Secure boot is disabled

I've got a Satellite M50 - A model (its similar to the M50D-A, but it was equipped with instead of ATI GPU nVidia GPU) and able to install the Windows 7 change the start mode MSC mode.

Generally the UEFI boot mode can only be used for the system support UEFI as Win 8 or 8.1 win and some Linux distributions.
Win 7 isn't taking system support UEFI.

However, there are various workarounds to install Win 7 64 bit (not 32-bit) in the UEFI using the partitionstable GUID (GPT). Win 7 64 bit only contains the UEFI boot loader.

But, very important is that UEFI installation isn t available (by default) is booting from USB due to lack of uefi boot loader! In case you use the key of USB for installation, you must add the UEFI (search in google for details) Start menu.

Finally and above all depends on BIOS support in the case where the BIOS would only mode Setup CSM; all of these solutions workaround would be unnecessary.

  • Satellite M50D-A-103 crashed and does not light

    Hello

I have a Satellite m50d-a-103, which takes place in Ubuntu.

The operating system crashed recently. I'm not sure if the laptop off really or not. But the screen is dark, and the laptop does not start when you press the power button.

The only thing that made laptop is that the power light flashes 5 times when the switch is released (no matter how long he was supported before). There is no - screen start or anything, the screen is totally black.

Located help here suggests I have remove the RAM, but I'm not sure it's a good idea, because I'm not sure that the laptop is off.

What I've tried is pressed the power button for 20 seconds. I tried also pressing the - or what I guess is the reset button on the back of the laptop.

The only idea I have now is to hope that the laptop does not work because indeed, there not turn power off and wait until the battery is empty. But I'm afraid that it will take a lot of time.

    So my questions are:

    -How can I fix?
-How can I find out if the laptop is turned off?
S ' it is not actually disabled, how do I disable it (it has an internal battery, so removing it will not be easy)?
    - Or is this a hardware problem? And if so, how can I find out component that could be the problem?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

[for some reason, I can't edit my original post]

I couldn't find the manual for the a m50d on toshibas website, but I hurt here: http://www.manualslib.com/products/T...A-3509950.html.

For the white flashing indicator power, it is said: "Indicates that the computer is in mode 'sleep' and that there is enough available power (mains or battery adapter) to maintain this State."

So I guess that my initial assumption may be correct. I still don't know not how out of fashion "before" however.

    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

  • Satellite M50D-A-101 - low bitrate in new SSD

    Hello!

I have a Toshiba laptop, Satellite M50D-A-101 is more exactly.
I changed the default with an Intel SSD 520 Series, 120 GB HARD drive.
The problem is that I have with that SSD low transfer rates. Normally, it must be greater than 300 MB/s, but I have only about 100 MB/s.

I know of specifications that this notebook has SATA 3, as the SSD.
When I run CrystalDisk Info, he said that the current mode is SATA/150 (which is basically SATA 1) and mode supported SATA/300 (which is SATA 2). I check which option is in the BIOS and it's performance on the SATA option Mode. In the Device Manager (I use Windows 8.1 Pro N) controllers IDE ATA also said, the driver is Standard SATA AHCI Controller.

Everyone knows this limitation? Why I can't use the SATA full capacity, SATA 3?

I hope that someone will answer, thanks! :)

Have you installed the new Windows system after the passage of the HARD drive to SSD drive?
and if you have installed the new Windows system, have you changed anything in the BIOS?

On the page of the Toshiba UE driver, I found the AHCI AMD driver. Usually, this driver is required to use the SATA controller.

    Have you added this driver?

  • Satellite M50D-A-10W does not start after the battery is completely empty

    I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite laptop Satellite M50d-A-10W AMD A, 15.6.

I have problem when the battery is completely empty I have to use the needle achieve hard reset the switch behind the laptop... so I can't enter in bootmode with f2

How can I solve the problem?

    Thank you

I guess you are talking about the shutdown procedure force as described in this document:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB3C03JR0000R01.htm

This problem can appear in case the PC freezes, do not start or has a power failure.

I think that the laptop turns off in case the battery is completely empty. In this case the system does not close properly.
As the default state, the system keeps laptop but usually the unit carries out a stop of the hybrid. This procedure allows the laptop to start much more quickly, but it could affect the system startup in case something goes wrong during the process of closing.
You can disable this hybrid mode and in my opinion, it is also recommended.

    Details:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm

However, to avoid these problems, it of very important to correctly perform the closing procedure.

  • Can't get into BIOS on my Satellite M50D-A-103

    Hello world

I want to put my Satellite M50D-A-103 to boot from USB. I put USB as the first boot device using the Toshiba system configuration utility in Windows 8. Does not work. Now, I want to get into the BIOS, but I never get there. I tried ways imaginable all pressing F2 and ESC keys (hold while turning on and keep holding, hold when turned on, but after 1 second or 3 seconds or as soon as Toshiba logo appears, press on after turning on, press once Toshiba logo appears, continue to press it or just press repeatedly it...) , but I never get into the BIOS.

I tried to open the laptop to remove the BIOS battery to reset, but even with all the screws removed, I can't seem to remove the bottom of the laptop plastic.

    Any suggestions?

    Best regards
    Stefan.

    > I tried to open the laptop to remove the BIOS battery to reset, but even with all the screws removed, I can't seem to remove the bottom of the laptop plastic.
Hey what are you doing? You want to lose your warranty? Do not do stupid things. Remove the BIOS battery you will not reset the BIOS. It is not simple desktop machine.

Please proceed to a full stop - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm - and after boot up your laptop, press F12 and you will enter the start menu with the option to enter the BIOS settings.

By the way: anything create using preinstalled recovery media creator Toshiba recovery media before you.
