Satellite M60-139 - upgrade to mSATA SSD via an IDE adapter
more capacity disc having, on the occasion of the passage of Win 7 I've tried alternatives to 80 GB built-in HARD drive.
Use an mSATA to IDE adapter and an mSATA SSD 250GB.
Install Win 7, system drivers, function ok.
Because I don't know if the types of other manufacturers may be mentioned in this forum, I did not provide all the details on this subject, but you give information that Config. with me is running...

If you updated successfully the laptop with a 250 GB mSATA SSD using an IDE adapter in mSATA?
Thanks for sharing your info!
I find the battery 12 cell high capacity-, who announced in the advertisement of the Satellite M60 - 139.
But there is no information on this stack in the user manual or on the website.
Anyone has more information or can tell me the product name/number?
Thanks for your help!
I tried to check if there is a battery high capacity available for your device but I didn t find any information about it. I guess that there is no such battery available for this model of laptop.
I'm a grafic designer using a Satellite M60-139 - and therefor I need a color profile for my Satellite M60-139-display - someone has a idea from where I can get one?
I really want to try to help you, but I really don't understand what you mean under the color profile. Can you please explain it with other words?
If you mean what graphics card is inside you can check this in the Device Manager.
Anyone know if there is a user manual in English for Satellite M60-139? I have recently bought a M60-139, but have the manual in German. Thanks
I checked out the download from Toshiba site, but there are no manuals available for M60 s. I guess it's a new unit and that in no time the download will be possible.
My notebook is Satellite M60-139 and I installed windows Vista 32-bit & I can't find any support for drivers & tools for my Toshiba.
Please help me I have big problem.
Akuma is right. Old laptop models are not supported in Vista. Maybe you will be able to end of some googling arround drivers but toshiba doesn't offer any specific tool of toshiba or utility for this model of laptop.
You have already installed Vista? What it looks like in Device Manager?
I was wondering if there is a service manual to show me, or if anyone knows from experience, how to open a Satellite Z930 and upgrade the SSD. I know that this will cause the nullity of my warranty but I do not like; Toshiba MobileCare won't have anything to do with it and I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for something that I could do it myself if I knew how to remove the back cover!
I removed all the screws from the bottom, but coverage won't come again libere‑moi seems to be stuck at the rear left. I guess there is another screw under the keyboard or something... any help would be very appreciated! :)
I agree with Akuma, Satellite and Portégé Z930 models are equipped with a type mSATA "Solid State Drive (SSD)" instead of a hard drive and sizes compatible mSATA are 128/256 GB
Just briefly, I wanted to report an SSD upgrade.
When I got my Portege R930 (PT331E, i7) two years ago, I changed the HD to a PRO 840 Samsung SSD 512 GB (big improvement). Now, this SSD is too small (photos!) and I wanted to increase the capacity up to 1 TB.
But instead of a new SATA, I decided to go for an mSATA + adapter SATA I felt an mSATA unit would be more "evolutionary" - next update of the laptop for me would be a Portege Z, who use mSATA.
So I bought a Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB with a Delock adapter/converter mSATA SSD, made a clone of the Apricorn cable and the software switched the SSD and everything works fine (actually a little faster )! At first I tried to use the clone with software from Samsungs migration but this didn t work, maybe I didn t the right version.
-Now I have a lager SSD that will live longer than my R930. Please note that I'm not an expert with computers - just a happy user Toshiba! Thanks for a good forum with my good ideas!
So, I bought a Samsung SSD 850 EVO mSATA 1 TB whole with a converter/adapter Delock...
.. .and everything works fine
Good news Lao!
Thanks a lot for the comments...
I also upgraded my laptop with a 250 GB SSD drive and now I think of a larger SSD... I should consider your solution now...

You can upgrade what RAM or HARD drive.
With more RAM laptop will have better performance in general, but I don't know if this will help a lot for online games.
I have the Satellite U400 - 12 p.
The motherboard has two free slots miniPCI if they install mSATA SSD OCZ AC Nocti - MSATA - 120G, for example in these slots?
I agree with Akuma. Satellite U400 is old enough laptop model and its standard SATA port, you cannot use reader with connector mSATA (mini-SATA).
the mSATA discs are smaller and designed for use on the netboos and ultraportable notebooks.
I recently got an opportunity * Satellite P200D-139 * PSPBNE-004003KS as a gift, it currently has a 80 GB hard drive, but I would like to upgrade to a larger. I searched on the net and forums, etc., but still quite confused.
can I switch to a larger HARD drive? and what is the maximum size that I can go to so...
Does anyone know also the best place for such an article...
Thank you very much!
I don't know much Equium series, but I guess that's the sata (sata interface) controller. SATA interface, there is no limit of ability so up to 500 GB (even more) should be recognized correctly. The only thing is that BIOS should also support it.
Forum-friends Hello and greetings from cologne/Germany,
I hope that I can describe my problem good enough to find same assistance if my bad English ;-)
Yesterday, I recognized a torus (in German, it is called "Riss") in the cover (in German, we say "Deckel") my laptop M60-139.
This torus push from the opening button approx. 3cm in the middle of the lid. If needed I can send you a picture...
So my question is:
How to open the LCD screen and the lid to stick the torus of the Interior with a very strong 2-component-epoxy to prevent growth of torus?
Ideas or manuals of disassembly on the photo to: [email protected]
I think it's a warranty issue and you should contact the partner of service authorized in your country. Please this as soon as possible. Addresses and phone numbers, which you will find under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true
Good luck to you two!
Hello Forum friends and once again greetings from Cologne/Germany.
Can anyone tell me what size I can switch the disk hard 80 GB of my M60-139 origin? I think it would be nice to have more space but I have heard that not every hard drive works with this model and its BIOS?
So did someone has changed the internal hard drive--that model, what size and what service... partition? Any manual how to change?
In my opinion, you can use the 100 GB HDD, maybe also a 120 GB but I m not 100% sure of this size of HARD drive.
Try it simply.
It is important that the HARD drive will support the enhanced IDE ATA-6 interface and the 5400 RPM disk rotation.
I need info on the upgrade of RAM to my laptop. What is the RAM max that I can use?
Can someone help me please?
The reason: Win7 mSATA upgrade, upgrade the SSD 250 GB (see my other thread).
Thanks in advance

It's really old machine any kind of info on the upgrade of the operating system or the HARD drive can be very useful.
So, your old machine can scale up to 2 GB of RAM and modules of compatible RAM that you can use are the following:
512 MB DDR2-400/533 (PA3412U - 1 M 51)
1 GB OF DDR2 400/533 (PA3411U-1M1G)
If possible, after a little on the OS. I want to say you found some drivers and use some tools specific to Toshiba and utilities.
Bye and good luck
Hello, I freshly bought the satellite M-60-139 straight. Unfortunately the DVD doesn't recognize correctly (burn it with Nero) so that I can burn only with 2, 4 instead of 8 years facher speed. Firmware update is not not qualify into the net for the carpet * a DVD RAM Uj-years 840 firmware 1.52. Support (Hotline) knows the problem, has however no solution. Who can help?
In my opinion you shouldn't start with updates or even the installation of the firmware. The device is new and try to test it out first. 8 x burning speed is just for the DVD-R virgins. I hope that you use the latest version of Nero and DVD 8 x burning speed rewritable media. If there is a possibility try to test with a few different blank DVD burning speed.
Yesterday we had a power outage, I turned my cell phone in standby mode.
When I started today, the entire configuration is crazy... I restarted and my whole screen went black after about 2 seconds in windows.
Now I swinging, because I thought that it would probably solve the problem, well it didn't.
Now, the screen does not work. He does that sometimes, when windows loads but the toshiba splash screen or windows itself works.
Well im using a different screen now and it works.
So basically the screen seems to work...
and there is also a video signal.
Then. the configuration must be the reason...
But the strange thing it has not changed to normal when I got it!
So... well I have absolutely no idea what could be the reason...
and Yes, hope someone can help me!
From your description, it seems your laptop to use the extended display.
I put t know why it occurs after the operating system completely new recovery procedure, but you can try to use the FN + F5 key combination. This procedure allows to switch between display devices. Maybe switching to the laptop monitor will solve this problem.
But if this procedure doesn't help so it could be a malfunction of display hardware. In this case, you will need to contact Toshiba.
