Satellite M60-169: BSOD appears after upgrade RAM to 1.5 GB

Hello

Satellite M60-169 got 1 GB DDR2 Samsung 533 MHz RAM-Modules (2x512MB).
Now, I have installed a new 1 GB DDR2 Samsung 533 MHz RAM-Module (1x1024MB + orig. 1x512mo = 1, 5 GB memory)

The problem is: the system reboots before you start Windows XP or Windows Vista.
Reinstaling 2x512MB Modules: everything works fine.
Reinstall the new 1 GB Module: blue screen and reboot. :(

I tested the memory modules with memtest86 Boot-CD and all DD2-Modules work and produce no errors.
Why the new RAM is not compatible with the laptop?

The specifications of the new 1024 MB of RAM is: Samsung 1 GB 2Rx8 PC2-4200-444-12-E3 M470T2953CZ3-CD5 double sided
The specifications of the orig. 512 MB of RAM is: double-Samsung 512 MB 2Rx16 PC2-4200-444-12-A3-M470T6554CZ3-CD5

Very strange! The RAM is like the original equipped with RAM.
Is this a BIOS problem?
If I don't just install a single module of 512 MB, the system starts without any problem. Even if I install only a single modulue of the new 1 GB of RAM, the system does not boot to Windows.

There may be a BIOS Solution for this problem in the future?, now more installed new BIOS (1.60).

BR Pappl

Hello

I don t think the BIOS problem.
In my opinion, there is a problem with the RAM modules.
The new module of memory is default or it s just not compatible.

Perhaps the mix of RAM is the reason for BSOD interruptions.
Have you tried to use only the new 1 GB module?
Check it out.

I have additional checked the Web from Toshiba site Options & accessories and according to the news, you must use this memory module 1 GB:
1 GB OF DDR2 400/533 (PA3411U-1M1G)

  • Satellite M200 does not start after the RAM 4 GB upgrade

    Hello

I recently updated my RAM just to speed things up a bit as RAM is so cheap these days.
    I have a MEAC M200 T2130 Vista with 1 GB sticks (2 * 512).

The new sticks are 2 * 2 GB Dane - elec DDR2 pc2-5300, when I put the two and restarted the hard drive light came briefly and then it is just options BIOS of Idol, no POST.

I tried to use a single stick of 512 MB with two new sticks and they both work in a 2.5 GB configuration just not together that also this only works when the stick of 512 is in internal housing and not vice versa.

So if someone has had a similar prob or can give me some advice that would be great, I'm not sure if the motherboard can support 4 GB?
    Thank you, Dave.

    Hello

There are two possibilities why your M200 doesn't not start after upgrading RAM.
First the RAM installed may be not compatible or could be faulty or the computer laptop doesn't support 4 GB of RAM.

I put t know what M200 do you have exactly, but you can check the installed chipset and could check on the Intel page if this chipset would support 4 GB of RAM.

  • Satellite L300-145 - BSOD appears if I installed 4 GB of RAM

    Hi all

I have this Satellite L300-145 PSLB0E-03601LPT and I want to install 4 GB of RAM, but when I install 4GB on boot THEN BSOD appears.

I try to change with the other memorys brand with equal modules, I'm trying to install Windows 7 64 bit, Linux 9.10 64 bit and it the same things. I try too update the BIOS but it the same thing.

I think it's remapping feature memory on bios but does not have this option.
So what I have to do?

    My laptop has now 3GB
    CPU: T2390 1, 533 Mhz 86Ghz
    CHIPSET: GM965
    RAM: 2 GB DDR2 at 533 Mhz
    HDD:Hitachi 200 GB

    After upgrade
    CPU: T8300 2.4 GHz, 800 Mhz
    RAM: 2 GB DDR2 667 Mhz
    HARD drive: Seagate 7200.4 250GB

    I really need 4 GB

    Hi mate,

I m really confused now. As a first step, you wrote that you get BSOD if you upgrade to 4 GB, but the specifications after the upgrade are really different. You have a new CPU, RAM and HARD disk with another specification.

Anyway, at first I checked the specs on the Toshiba website for your laptop and this model can only be upgraded to 2 GB; not 4 GB!
This means that you can only use two modules of 1 GB in this notebook.

Sorry, but you will not be able to use 4 GB in this model of laptop.

  • Satellite A660 - 10 X - no boot after upgrading RAM 8 GB, but 4 GB + 2 GB only

    Hello

Today I bought two sticks of Kingston 4 GB DDR3 1066 MHz CL7 and I'm trying to replace my 2 GB ones, but something is wrong.

If I put two sticks of 4 GB laptop does not start. I have the latest version of the BIOS (1.80). I have restored the default settings after upgrade.

But it's quite strange, because if I put a strip of 4 GB and a 2 GB stick system starts and everything is fine (with memtest86 + too). But there is still one thing: 4 GB stick should be rolled in the dock before, above second, 2 GB module. If I reverse cell phone memory will not start again.

Is - everyone knows how to solve my problem? Is this a BIOS problem? BIOS version which A660 takes in charge the amount of 8 GB of RAM with no problems? I can downgrade from the BIOS, because I don't know if Toshiba help update.

    Thanks in advance.

Is this exact module the same 4 GB RAM listed on THIS page?

    Hello

Toshiba Satellite L100 113 PSLA3E-02401JRU starts slowly after upgrade memory with Kingston KTT533D2-512 (512 MB) of memory.
When I press the 'power' button, it flashes, starts the fans and HARD drive several times. Then it shows BIOS start messages by memory full 768 MB and starts Windows XP without a problem.
This behavior is noticed only after "shut down."
It does not happen with "restart".
What can I do to eliminate this long "attempts" to start my laptop computer?

    Thank you

    Hello

This problem appears before upgrade memory?
Have you used exactly the same memory modules?
If this isn't the case, then perhaps there are a few compatibility issues.

Usually, after the insertion of the modules you must enter the BIOS and then save the settings. Please it and eventually the laptop will start without any problems.

    Hello

So I have upgraded RAM using 2 x 4 GB SODIMM DDR3 Corsair 1600 Mhz, after installing the PC boots but screen is white/black

    steps to follow:

    1. I tried with 1 socket by using only a RAM, screen black

    2. I tried with 2 socket using RAM only one with the same RAM step 1, screen black

    3. I tried step 1 and 2 using the other RAM, screen black

    now here it gets interesting

4 tried 1 socket using Original/factory RAM, screen black

5 tried 2 socket using Original/factory RAM, screen black

    6. tried without any RAM at all, looks like a lack of RAM, screen black

Now, to each measure adopted, I must say that the screen sound not only not showing things, but its totally black as it does at all, until the system starts normally. !

Is it Possible the upgrade of RAM affect the screen? or maybe when I was replacing the RAM I hit some conecting by cable to screen or something?

  • Satellite A500-1 - BSOD appears during the installation of Win XP

    Hello

When I try to install Windows XP, it displays this screen on my laptop:

    http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/5498/img0159ni.th.jpg

    Greetings

    Hello

I think that the BSOD appears because the Win XP cannot find the HARD drive due to lack of SATA driver.

    There are two solutions;

    (1) you need to add a SATA driver for Win XP (done SATA driver is part of the Intel Storage Manager)

    (2) or you need to set the Compatibility Mode AHCI SATA mode. This allows you to install the Win XP without the SATA drivers.

PS: Option of job search Forum and you will find many discussions on this topic

    Released, still the same error.
    Any ideas?

    Hi mate

The BSOD appears because you try to install a Win XP without the SATA drivers.
You have two options to install Win XP; with and without SATA drivers.

    _Without SATA drivers: _
In this case go to BIOS (press F2) and there you have switch compatible SATA to AHCI mode.
You can install Win XP without including the SATA drivers

    _With SATA drivers. _
AHCI mode should be set in the BIOS.
Then, you must include the SATA (part of the Intel storage Manger) for Win XP drivers.
You can use nLite (this tool is free) which would help you to create a new Win XP disk with SATA drivers or you could include the SATA drivers using an external USB FDD drive.

PS: I recommend looking here in the forum for similar discussions you will find a lot of information.

  • How upgrade to 64 bit Win 7 after upgrade Ram 6 GB on 3250br Pavilion DM1?

I m going to upgrade 6 GB memory on my Pavilion DM1 3250br. Although windows indicate it is 64-bit capable windows anytime update installed 32-bit (because it has less than 2 GB available).

    1. How should you proceed to upgrade to 64-bit after upgrade memory? I don't have a system disk, only the suplyed key home premium by HP.

2 HP has 64-bit for all devices drivers? They are in D: recovery drive or I´ll need to download the upgrade?

    3. any information you want to give.

    Best regards

    Eduardo

    Hi, Eduardo:

    You can try it.

I know it works if you have a retail upgrade key which means that it is good for 32 or 64 bit.

I don't know an ISO file that you get off the internet is an OEM file.

If this is the case, it will not work. If this isn't the case, I doubt it will be.

I have dealt only with the installations of Windows 7 using OEM disks or retail upgrade.

Basically, the key that you use must be the same as the installation disc.

OEM disc / ISO good with the key on the bottom of your portable forest 32 or 64 OEM.

Plenty of retail disc / ISO only good with the full commercial product key, you get the box or the e-mail sent to you - 32 or 64 bit.

The retail upgrade disc / ISO only good with the retail upgrade key, you get in the box or the e-mail sent to you - 32 or 64-bit.

Upgrade Express disc / ISO only good with the upgrade retail or upgrade Express key - 32 or 64-bit if you have a disk.

I used a disk of 64 bit Vista Business anytime upgrade to upgrade Vista Home Premium 64 bit update, and I was able to use the key from Vista Business 32 bit provided with the 32-bit disk (I had a 32-bit Vista Business retail box update but they come only with discs of 32 bits at the time and you had to order a CD of) 64-bit and pay $10. You can't even not the disks in 64-bit vista to MS.

    Hope this helps,

    Paul

  • Satellite C660 - Windows 7 64 bit BSOD after upgrade RAM

    Hi guys

    my laptop Specs: Satellite C660-1JG
    -Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit (pre-installed, Toshiba-HDD recovery)
    -Intel® Celeron® Processor T3500
    -2048 MB of RAM DDR3 (800 MHz).

recently I increase my RAM to 4 GB (2 + 2 GB), since its installation, as soon windows7 64 bit beginning of loading, finished with BSOD. load BSOD Windows sometimes very well, but in a minute or two appears. I can confirm that it does not read the total RAM of 4 GB, I checked while the laptop was about 2 to 3 minutes ON. then I go out 1 RAM stick laptop is fine, no BSOD!

so question raises if the RAM is at fault, incompatibility etc, but I have the dual boot OS and other OS is Ubuntu 11. who reads the 3.84 GB RAM and without crashing or BSOD or any question.

Then I installed Windos 7 32 bit to see if that still has problems with 4 GB of RAM, but NO, 32 bit reads RAM 4 GB (usable 2.8 GB). without crashing or BSOD with 32, only problem with windows 64-bit version!
I checked the specification it says Max RAM 4 GB Ram and yes it supports 4 GB RAM with Linux and win7 32-bit.

I tried to update BIOS version 1.20 (currently on 1.40), but still got error: Firmware has no support of Flash (AFUWINGUI).
I was wondering if any of you can guide me to the right direction.
    Thanks in advance
    Concerning

I can't say for sure, but perhaps BSOD due to a compatibility issue.
