Satellite M70-152 - types of motherboards appropriate

Hello

I would like to replace my M70-152 motherboard, because it is clearly broken (http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=218985).
Now I'm looking for an appropriate advice, but it is very difficult to get one for 152. There are some 125, 151, 340 and so forth, but I can't find a Board for 152.
Is it possible to install another type instead of a type that exactly matched 152? Which?

Thanks in advance
Toru

Hello

You need a motherboard that has deigned for laptop model Satellite M70 - xxx.
There is not much difference between the simple models of M70 and AFAIK the M70 152 belongs to the same series of M70 as unity M70-151.
So in my opinion, you can use this motherboard too.

    Hey Buddy,

Well, this means that the internal LCD screen of your laptop is ok and works correctly. The reason must be another so I guess that it of the graphics card or motherboard itself.

But before you share something about the material, make sure that the new display driver is installed at Toshiba. Maybe this can help

Otherwise, you really have a problem. If the motherboard must be exchanged, it's not cheap but an authorized service provider can tell you how much it costs exactly.
Alternative take a look on eBay for second-hand spare parts. ;)

  • Satellite M70: Question about types of RAM

    Hey,.

I plan to buy some additional RAM for my Satellite M70. On the Toshiba site, there are 2 types of 1 GB of RAM memory available: PA3411U-2M1G and PA3411S-2M1G. The other costs twice as much as the first, although they are all two 1 GB DDR2 PC2-4300. Can anyone explane me the differences between these two?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

The differences are not known to me. I think that one is a little older and the new version of the module is more expensive.

    I found it compatible: DDR2 400/533 1 GB (PA3411U-1M1G)

You know this site of memory?

  • Satellite M70-354 - is compatible with another motherboard?

    Hello guys,.

I need to replace the motherboard for a Toshiba Satellite M70 354 PSM70E.
The card mother inbuild is a K000033860, so it is compatible with any PSM70E mainboard avayable (K000XXXXXX)?

    Thanks for any help
    5urprise

I think so. Satellite M70 comes with two different mothers.
One is with the graphics card Intel for PSM70E models and is second with graphics card ATI for the PSM71E models.

Thus, you can use any PSM70E motherboard and use it for other M70 with PSM70E model number.

  • What type of HARD drive I can use Satellite M70-337?

    Hello
I want to upgrade my Satellite M70-337 with a 120 GB HARD drive. I have an external USB with a Toshiba MK-1234GAX 120 GB disk drive in it, I could share with my original 40 GB hitachi drive.
Is this compatible with the laptop HARD drive toshiba, if not, what is the specification for the necessary HARD disk?

    Thanks for any help!
    Károly

    Hello

I think what you need is a HARD drive with the SATA interface. I think that the 40 GB of HARD drive that was installed in your laptop supports a 5400 RPM.

To my knowledge the external USB case supports an IDE hard drives. But you know, it is possible to s that your external HARD drive supports a SATA interface. In any case, you must check it before using this laptop computer HARD drive.

In addition, there is a problem with the size of the HARD drive. It is a 120 GB HARD drive and, possibly, the BIOS does not recognize the HARD drive. I think you can use 40 GB, 60 GB, 80 GB and 100 GB hard drives but I'm not sure about the 120 GB.

    But you can test it.

PS: it's the Satellite M70, and I changed the RAM

    Hello

I'm afraid that you have to be a little more specific than one that's a little wave... but now that you mention that you have changed the RAM maybe this is related to the question of Mr. is your RAM speed appropriate for your laptop? (Example to 400 or 533 MHz, regardless of the speed is indicated for your product). Because if your RAM is at the wrong speed, or at a higher speed (for example, 667 MHz, which happened with me) the computer can crash/blue screen/go crazy.

In fact, now I remember that my flash CAPS LOCK button too, because of the bad RAM or Aries do not correctly inserted. I recommend to check the speed of your RAM and make sure that you have inserted the right type, RAM speed and you have inserted it correctly

    I hope this helps.

  • Re: Win 8 on Satellite M70 - 181 - are there drivers available?

    Hello

as Windows XP support will end next April and my old Satellite still works I
wonder if anyone has any experience with Win8 on this type of laptop.

Are there drivers available? (impossible to find anything on the Toshiba site).

    Thank you

All drivers for Satellite M70 series are on the Toshiba UE driver page.
Since it is old model of laptop, drivers are placed in archive, then you should choose type of product-> Archive

But it seems that the drivers are available only for Windows XP and Vista

  • How to replace battery for RTC for Satellite M70-122?

I have a portable Satellite M70-122 and it sews there is a problem with the battery RTC (BIOS) that he loses all the settings. I took it for the Department of service here in Thessaloniki in Greece and they told me the battery is stuck to the main Board and I have to buy a new laptop instead.

Does anyone has an idea on how to change the battery of the CCF (BIOS)?

    Hello

In many cases (also for the M70 Sat) battery RTC is soldered on the motherboard. In this case it cannot be replaced

The RTC battery provides the power to keep the current date, time and other configuration information in memory, while the computer is turned off. The RTC battery is charged by the adapter or the main battery while the computer is on.
So theoretically if the RTC battery is empty, you could load it again to connect the AC adapter and execution of the laptop for about 24 hours.

  • Replacing the screen on Satellite M70

    Hello

I want to replace my Satellite M70 screen by one from a Satellite L300
Is this possible? Are only two screen equivalent and interchangeable mechanical and electrical wiring
    and point of vew connections

    concerning

    Hello

As far as I know both sets of laptop: M70 and L300 supports the same screen size and are equipped with the screen 15.4 "WIDE XGA.

So from my point of view, it should be possible to use the same screen, but I could be possible that the flat cable that connected the display with the motherboard might be different, so pay attention to this maybe you need another cable

  • Satellite M70 loses power randomly

This Satellite M70 has no battery.
When plugged into the power supply, the blue power light comes on as expected.
But after a few minutes, the light blue power turns off and all power is lost.
This happens even if the computer is not "activated" while it is plugged. Therefore, it is not likely to be overheating.

Let unplugged, more light will light up when it is plugged.
If unplugged and reconnected right after the LED turns off, the diode can not ignite at all, or it may come a few seconds.

I completely disassembled the M70 and there is no dust anywhere inside.
The problem when the M70 is stripped without RAM card, HARD drives, screen, keyboard and interface. All the pieces, I can reach feel cold when the power loss occurs.

The PSU is known well, it is 3. 34 and bed 19.5V with a voltmeter.

So probably something wrong with the power of the motherboard components.
It is not really worth paying for repairs, so before you throw this M70, what should I try?

    Thank you
    Jen

Here must be a serious problem with electronic power supply on the motherboard.
In my opinion there is nothing you can do about it.

If you want to keep this old piece of hardware check eBay and maybe you can find refurbished mainboard and exchange it. Maybe you can find good work M70 but destroyed or defective display and get it for less money. You can use two mobile phones and do well work a.

I don t think you should spend a lot of money for it.

  • Satellite M70 354: how to change the display?

    Hello!
My TFT-Display of my Satellite M70 354 is physically broken. So I need a new. The Servicepartner costs of a new view without working time are EUR 450,-(!). It's too.

Is a change to myself as possible, or is it very difficult? On Ebay, I found a screen, compatible with an M70... What is important in changing the display?

    Maybe you can help me.
    Thank you!

You should know that the display is one of the parties outside the laptop computer motherboard expensive.
The costs are huge, as you can see. Of course the 450 bugs is too but it is a new LCD and additional, you will pay for the technician.

That is why it s a good idea to look for second hand unit. The replacement of the screen is a little tricky. You must remove the plastic frame that attaches around the screen.
The display is usually fixed with 6 screws and connected to the Board of Directors and FL inverter.

I think that you should not replace yourself. I see that you have no much experience on these replacements. So the best idea is to buy a second hand laptop but then to ask a technician for replacement.

  • Satellite M70-151 - how to upgrade the display driver?

    Hello

as the topic says I ran out of options to update my graphics card Radeon X 700 on my laptop...

I tried to see here: http://de.nodevice.com/driver/Mobility_Radeon_X700/get44199.html
After installation, I learned that he had to go on the manufacturer's site to get my drivers

So I ended up here: http://de.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=DE
Still no idea who was the Radeon X 700 driver, I tried every update... Most did not anyway, and when I check my graphics card driver put in says that my current driver was 5 years old.

Taking advantage of the distraction of the online games I noticed that went it a few seconds sometimes. Most people recommend that you update all my drivers, but it seems more difficult than I imagined

So please, help me find the right link to update my graphics card! To help speed things up a bit, I added my DxDiag report.

    Thanks for your help

/ Edit: addition of the DxDiag total was not possible due to "inappropriate language"... O.o

    Hi Sarahbella,

You can download the driver on the Toshiba site. Therefore, check the link you suggested and look for your model of laptop. As far as I know Satellite M70 151 belongs to the series of PSM71E, to look for with these elements:

    Laptop > Satellite > Satellite M Series > Satellite M70 (PSM71)

Download the driver and run the setup.exe file.

    Check this box!

Unfortunately you can not do much.
Your only solution is to visit nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer and they will remove it for you.

I have a portable Satellite M70 and lately the screen becomes either black, white and a few other colors (no ghost image).

The laptop seems good but I can t see anything so the only solution is to turn on and off. He didn't used to do this.
I have updated the BIOS and the driver of the screen but always comes back.

Have you tried an external monitor on the laptop?
It would be important to make sure if it s a display or the motherboard problem.
    Check it!

Have what driver you installed for the laptop? You must use the driver from the Web from Toshiba site.

    Good luck!
