Satellite M70 - drop drastic FPS game while
My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite M70-148.
Link: [see here | http://nl.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=NL&BV_UseBVCook = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 109803 ie]
I bought my laptop in febuari 2006. I played Army v2.5 the game in America since then.
For 4-5 months I get drops FPS serious all-in game. I want to talk about 85 FPS (on an ongoing basis with the highest settings) to the more frequently falls to 30-40 FPS and even more 10/08/15 FPS (on the smaller bare parameters).
At first I thought that this could be fixed by increasing the RAM memory, so I bought 2 sticks of 1 GB of RAM. And it did not work at all.
I installed a new backup, with nothing else but Windows XP (Home, legal good course with all updates) and the game and I always feel the drops in FPS.
What seems to me to hear is the fan blowing stronger when I get the FPS drop and sometimes it does the same thing when he goes back to 85 fps.
Because he has been able to run smoothly before that I'm inclined to think that there is a hardware malfunction which causes this problem.
Is there a way I can replace/upgrade material inside my computer?
Or can someone give me a suggestion as to where I should look to find the problem?
Thank you very much!
PAMF
If you think you have a hardware problem with your laptop, I'd go to a Toshiba service partner.
You can search for a partner in your area on this site:

I hope this helps you...

Qosmio X 770-107 - question GPU acceleration and low of the FPS game while
Hi all
As everyone knows (i) hope including Toshiba tech we face breakdowns of sparks/Framerate GPU limitation/Low FPS during the game, even in the game of old or new brand and down or in the highest video settings.
So lets start with the history of the mine: I bought my Toshiba Qosmio x 770-107-3D about $2600 so I was in Qatar to the 13.04.2012... In fact since the beginning of the purchased when I am faced with this famous problem of limitation GPU... I tried a lot of things, cleaning the fan, bios and driver chart updated-decommissioning, using software overclocking, combining different versions of graphics drivers with different versions of bios drivers, also including the suggestions in this tread:
http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=63615
2 days ago, I sent an email to Toshiba UK support and local support. Unfortunately I have no answer, I probably wouldn't be as usual. And I left one term of 7 months. As everyone knows; even if I sent it to Toshiba repair service, 99% they say the fault of the user or the dirty vere fans and we reflash the bios. who has no sense for us and they're going to get him back without GPU acceleration problem soving...
In summary that I am out of options, I'm really tempted to try to solve this problem of trottling gpu...
Maybe I should sent cell phone service and with their report of nonsense I should consider rights costumer Court in my country... will be 4 to 6 months, but in the end 90% I win.I am really bored and tired of playing the games lag in every 10 minutes.
Yesterday, with and without external display, + with slot and overclocking, + video settings further down, I played Company of heroes 2 and Battlefield 2 and 4 with ventilation of the limitation and the new GPU framerate... it's totally waste of money and my time of 2 years. I want to buy alienware instead of Qosmio 2 years...What should I do? You really have a permanent solution for this? I await your comments.
Win7
BIOS v2.10
Graphics driver v33x.xKind regards.
I read the reviews of users and customers in the thread you link above and it seems that the limitation issue was already resolved. The combination of the BIOS (v1.1?) and nVidia Driver seems to be the key.

How to replace battery for RTC for Satellite M70-122?
I have a portable Satellite M70-122 and it sews there is a problem with the battery RTC (BIOS) that he loses all the settings. I took it for the Department of service here in Thessaloniki in Greece and they told me the battery is stuck to the main Board and I have to buy a new laptop instead.
Does anyone has an idea on how to change the battery of the CCF (BIOS)?
Hello
In many cases (also for the M70 Sat) battery RTC is soldered on the motherboard. In this case it cannot be replaced
The RTC battery provides the power to keep the current date, time and other configuration information in memory, while the computer is turned off. The RTC battery is charged by the adapter or the main battery while the computer is on.
So theoretically if the RTC battery is empty, you could load it again to connect the AC adapter and execution of the laptop for about 24 hours. -
Satellite M70 loses power randomly
This Satellite M70 has no battery.
When plugged into the power supply, the blue power light comes on as expected.
But after a few minutes, the light blue power turns off and all power is lost.
This happens even if the computer is not "activated" while it is plugged. Therefore, it is not likely to be overheating.Let unplugged, more light will light up when it is plugged.
If unplugged and reconnected right after the LED turns off, the diode can not ignite at all, or it may come a few seconds.I completely disassembled the M70 and there is no dust anywhere inside.
The problem when the M70 is stripped without RAM card, HARD drives, screen, keyboard and interface. All the pieces, I can reach feel cold when the power loss occurs. The PSU is known well, it is 3. 34 and bed 19.5V with a voltmeter.
So probably something wrong with the power of the motherboard components.
It is not really worth paying for repairs, so before you throw this M70, what should I try?Thank you
JenHere must be a serious problem with electronic power supply on the motherboard.
In my opinion there is nothing you can do about it.If you want to keep this old piece of hardware check eBay and maybe you can find refurbished mainboard and exchange it. Maybe you can find good work M70 but destroyed or defective display and get it for less money. You can use two mobile phones and do well work a.
I don t think you should spend a lot of money for it.

Satellite M70-151 - how to upgrade the display driver?
Hello
as the topic says I ran out of options to update my graphics card Radeon X 700 on my laptop...
I tried to see here: http://de.nodevice.com/driver/Mobility_Radeon_X700/get44199.html
After installation, I learned that he had to go on the manufacturer's site to get my driversSo I ended up here: http://de.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=DE
Still no idea who was the Radeon X 700 driver, I tried every update... Most did not anyway, and when I check my graphics card driver put in says that my current driver was 5 years old.Taking advantage of the distraction of the online games I noticed that went it a few seconds sometimes. Most people recommend that you update all my drivers, but it seems more difficult than I imagined
So please, help me find the right link to update my graphics card! To help speed things up a bit, I added my DxDiag report.
Thanks for your help
/ Edit: addition of the DxDiag total was not possible due to "inappropriate language"... O.o

Hi Sarahbella,
You can download the driver on the Toshiba site. Therefore, check the link you suggested and look for your model of laptop. As far as I know Satellite M70 151 belongs to the series of PSM71E, to look for with these elements:
Laptop > Satellite > Satellite M Series > Satellite M70 (PSM71)
Download the driver and run the setup.exe file.
Check this box!

Satellite M70-340 battery not charging
I had a problem with a Toshiba Satellite M70 - 340 portable hard drive, but everything else worked perfectly, and it was possible to operate on battery power. So I sent it to a maintenance shop where they changed the hard drive and installed a fresh new copy of Windows XP. Once I got it I found that I am not able to turn it back on, except when it is connected to electricity and after a little or looking around, I found out that the battery is not.
In addition to this, when I plug first laptop for electricity while it is turned off, the yellow/orange battery LED lights only for like 3 seconds. And even if it is activated, the led is still off, and the the battery icon on the status bar indicates that the laptop works on AC and does not say that the battery charge, he repeats to me 1%.
I also tried leaving it plugged to AC while it is off, hoping he can recharge, but I bite the dust.
So what would cause the battery won't charge if from one day to another (and just by changing the HARD drive and install a fresh copy of windows XP), the battery has stopped working?
And I was just wondering is an update of the BIOS or your driver fix? I want to say a battery need some kind of driver or software to run?
Thank you
Hello Zaher
I have Satellite M70-159 and issue described is not known to me. If you are sure that this strange issue started after get it back you with 100% service I recommend you speak again with technicians.
Behavior described is not really normal. As much I know BIOS update or drivers have no influence on it and to me it sounds like a malfunction of the equipment.
BTW: remove the battery, connect the laptop to the power adapter and start Notepad. When the operating system starts correctly, wait a few minutes and put the battery in the laptop. Please let know us what happens when you do this.

Satellite M70-193 is shut down without reason
Hello
I bought M70 - 193 in September 2006. There is no problem up to now. Since last week I have this weird problem, my laptop is shut down without any reason.
At first, he was shut down when I played in the game. But today, it shuts down every time. I tried to do something, and everything I've done is that there is a connect Toshiba power saver: an error code 0 x 0.
Someone help me, please
Hello
In my opinion your laptop must certainly have reason to turn off. According to the description of your problem my first property thereon is overheating. No one can say with certainty what is happening with your laptop here in the forum, but if you use your laptop in an intensive way, it is possible that the fan in the lower draw more than dust and now the dust blocks, cooling system. If you use your laptop on your lap cooling fan is blocked and material cannot be cooled properly.
Usually when the material temperature is too high, laptop turns off simply without any warning. Initially, try putting the laptop to the upper post (four books) to be sure that your laptop can take a deep breath and just see if laptop will run a bit more as before.
Anyway, it is not a solution and I think you should clean up your beautiful Satellite M70. Standby power is another issue and we can discuss it later. ;)

Suddenly the screen on my Satellite M70 had color red, green or other
Some time while I was on the net screen on my Satellite M70 exploded and a color on the screen and I couldn't do anything unless I close the lid of the laptop and the computer will put into hibernation. After doing this the laptop go normally, and after a while he'll be back.
There's something that amazes me that some time, sometimes 3 times a day and some time it doesn't happen in a week.
Please I need your helpHi guys
This seems very strange and it's amazing that a single software application could have a negative influence on the screen.
It happens only when the laptop connects to the internet? But of course, maybe the program like MS Messenger has a bad influence on the graphics driver and so this problem appears.
Try to update the graphics driver and check if it helps!

HDD upgrade on Satellite M70 (PSM71)
Hi all
After upgrading to 2 GB system memory, it was clear my HARD drive slow down the entire system with its noisy race. But looking at the list of "drives hard compatitable" doesn't bring much because there are all external solutions. So I searched and found a few hard drives internal seagate but I don't know if they are compatitable with Satellite M70. M70 does support ultra ATA or SATA?
I have an external SATA HDD and can observe the difference in speed, clearly that's why I'm ready to upgrade the internal system HDD 5400 to 7200 RPM. As well, but I still don't know if M70 supports Sata or Ultra ATA drives. Need help at this point.
Best regards

It is not recognized on Toshiba Satellite M70-169 Web site
Hello
I have a laptop TOSHIBA SATELLITE M70-169
I wanted to update my drivers, so I logged on the TOSHIBA site.
The problem is that my phone is not listed on the site, there are * M70-168 * and * M70-170 * but not * M70 - 169 *.
I tried the recognition by serial number, result: DO NOT RECOGNISEDI tested the autodetection, and here too, the result was: DO NOT RECOGNISED.
I am surprised that my laptop is not recognized on the official website of TOSHIBA, while I had bought in a store. Can someone tell me if he had the same problem and give me directions to upgrade my laptop?
Thank you
Satellite M70 is old enough laptop model, and I can imagine that auto detection tool doesn't properly work. Your laptop is the model European and part PSM70E number (very important for research).
In any case, you can find all the drivers or updates manually. Follow these steps:Visit the download page for Toshiba under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

No Satellite M70-166 no reaction when the AC adapter is connected
Hello!
I have a problem with my Toshiba Satellite M70-166.
When I connect the charger, the laptop turns on for a while, then turns off. What can I do to diagnose the problem and what should be the voltage of the plug for the connection of the battery?
I apologize in advance for my English... I'm Italian :)
Good bye
Hello
There are two possibilities; the AC adapter or the motherboard is faulty.
The device supports a 19 Volt AC adapter. To be honest, I think that electronic power on the motherboard works bad, which means that every mother should be replaced.

Power on issue to a Satellite M70
Hi there all the
I have two of these laptops on the bench with the same problem.
When you press the power button, nothing happens, no noise of the car or fan, he's just dead. I looked around the forum and have tried holding down the BACKSPACE key while pressing the power on button, but simply nothing. Can someone please?
Have fun... :))
When you press the power button / stop is there any reaction. No power when he saw bright lights or not?
Last week, I fixed my Satellite M70. After turning on the computer laptop, I heard just cooling fan for the little while spinning and nothing. No reaction at all. But the power light was all the TIME.
CPU was dead. I exchanged CPU and laptop works well again.
I can't say with certainty what is on your laptop. -
Blue screen sometimes appears on Satellite M70
Hello
I would like to express my immense frustration with my laptop satellite M70 as I have for over a year now (warranty expired) and almost as soon as the appointment was an issue in which that a blue screen appeared and restarting the computer... According to the error report that there is a problem with the graphics card or display driver.
I take my dealer for repair, but the problem remains (there went 3 TIMES! more waiting for a month for repairs every time! and they send it to the service of toshiba...)... that the problem does not occur * all the time * it seems they just didn't notice or something: (.)
I update all the drivers, but it had no effect on the problem...
So now what? Do I have to send it for repair and they finally replace the graphics card... what I pay? !!
This is all very upsetting to me as you can imagine...
And know its worse... it seems to happen more... and many times the computer won´t restart after the blue screen... there just black.
Now, almost everytime I turn it on it will not start... the fan will work only for a few seconds and that's it.
I'm almost certain that the graphics card is defective... can I replace it at home? Argh this just feels bad, the computer had this problem almost from the beginning, and I sent it for repair... they just don't fix it... I wouldn't pay to fix it as I sent it for repair 3 times while he still had the warranty...
Answer please I'm desperate and have no idea what to do
Hi João
> So now what? Do I have to send it for repair and they finally replace the graphics card... what I pay? !!
No! Back up all your important data and reinstall the operating system using recovery media delivered. After doing this watch carefully if the problem persists. I have the same laptop on a year, and it works perfectly. I noticed a BSOD just twice, but both times after installing stupid some shareware programs.
I have removed from the system and everything was OK again. Please make the clean OS install and post again if the BSOD occurs again.

Satellite M70-169: screen freezes and meshes + mouse freezes
Hello
Hope you can help. So far, I'm impressed by my toshiba satellite m70-169.He has recently developed an intermittent fault: when the tilt of the screen the effect of light mesh on it and the screen freezes. The mouse also hangs at this point.
If I tilt the screen one way or the other I can get it to work properly. A slighy inclination of the screen can cause the screen to freeze again. The problem is getting worse, however.
The machine has never been dropped or struck, but was taken by one of the screen when it is open.
I disassembled the strainer and push gently on various points and cables but nothing in this area suggests a loose connection or a weak point. So I believe the problem is in the essence. I tried to open this up but it fails because I didn't force anything.
Question 1: any suggestions on the problem and possible solutions?
Question 2: advice like how to open the main part, so I can check any loose cables, connectors or broken bones?
Question 3: patterns for disassembly?Even once - I hope you can help - thanks in advance...
John
Hi John
The above user is right. It s too risky to disassemble the laptop without having any experience with laptops.
It is why I always recommend taking to a technician. But if you want, you can have a look here:
http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaM55/laptop_LCD_screen_removal.htmIt s a site on satellite M55 and withdrawal screen.
But once again; You can do everything BUT only at your own risk! ;)
