Satellite P10-221, keyboard Fn + F5 shortcut problem

On my Toshiba Satellite P10-221, running Windows XP, I used to be able to use the Fn + F5 to switch on my external screen. Recently, by pressing Fn + F5 the menu same as always, but the only option is the LCD. I used to have CRT and TV as an option. Is anyone familiar with this problem? I already tried to install the display driver (Nvidia), but this does not solve the problem.

Thanks in advance!

Hello

The external screen is correctly connected? Display driver has nothing to do with the FN + F5 option. Utility designed Toshiba is responsible for this.

  • Satellite P10, internal keyboard: the key of the pipe doesn't work anymore

    Hello everyone!

    I have a Satellite P10 with WinXP (SP1) for about 1 year.
Symptoms: it's the internal keyboard. I used the key pipe <|>indeed, not every day, but it worked. And suddenly, I see that it does no more: it is 'dead', while all other keys work correctly...

    My next steps:
    (1) I uninstalled the driver of standard keyboard (101/102 keys) or Microsoft Natural Keyboard (PS/2) keyboard, and were found after Windows starts. There is no material conflict under the Device Manager or the information system, the driver runs correctly...

    (2) the keyboard layout is German. But I have already tested the English (United States) too: the result is the same.

    Questions:
    (1) is the key physically damaged?
    (2) otherwise, what I can do to solve the problem? Where can I get a newer driver perhaps?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

As far as I know that it is not necessary to install a driver for keyboard. The driver is built into the OS. If the button is dead and doesn't work at all, it is probably defective.

  • Satellite P10 - 221: "absent wireless network card."

    Hello world

I had this problem: the wi - fi network card is not present in the list of hardware, the installation of the driver (both Toshiba tools and Utilities CD and downloaded drivers) still fails. In the case of Toshiba CD it says "DON'T NOT updated the driver, Installation failed", while in the case of the downloaded drivers, nothing happens when I choose "Install" from the context menu (click on right .inf). The problem is: the wi - fi card is completely absent, the operating system does not, it does not matter where.

Someone at - it had the same problem or knows the solution?

    Thanks in advance,

    WILLER

    Hello

are you sure that you really have a wireless network card installed? Not all machines don't.
Check the code under the machine. It is printed on a silver label and looks like this:
    PIII1000/256/20/14XT/D/LM/W

This one is a 1 GHz Pentium 3 machine. Read your code and put it here and we can tell if it has a built in network RLR.

    Hello

In a first step, I would re - install the drivers for the chipset for your laptop.

After that uninstall the battery Bluetooth and re - install also.

There is also an information sheet available online to get information on the new drivers for Service Pack 2. Watch http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

Free configuration (4.90.57) and PC (3.0.6) Diagnostic tool are available for users of Windows XP Service 2.

Take a look at http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com to get updates for download.

  • Satellite P10 shuts down unexpectedly after only 4/5 minutes to be turned on

Hey, I have a problem with my Satellite P10 2.5 years.
The problem is it turns off unexpectedly after 4/5 minutes being powered on.

After he fires it on again for about 7 to 10 HOURS, even with the power drive inside displays the 4 lights on the front, but it will not even power the start-up routine.

I tried different combinations of power/battery and I still get the same problem.
I'm sure that it is overheating and then take hours to enhance down.

Your opinion on this would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance...

    Ben

    Hi Ben,

Certainly, it sounds like an overheating issue from your description, although I expect to recover much faster than 7 to 10 hours. You can try the technique of aspiration of dust on the grids of aspiration air to see if it improves the situation. Also check that the fans are working properly and that there is sufficient space around the appliance when it is in use.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite P100-221: TV Out & Windows update

    Hey everybody,

    I have Satellite P100-221 and I have 2 problems:

    1. I connect my computer laptop to the TV using the S-video via the S-video port cable, then when I press Fn + F5 it gives me the entire options, including CRT, LCD/CRT, LCD/TV & TV then I select TV and nothing happened at one of the laptop screen and the TV screen. I tried several times and it does not work, if any body can help me in this matter and if there are actions should be made in the display properties, I would be much appreciated.

2 - operating system laptop is Windows XP Media Center, and whenever I try to connect the windows update server it gives me an error update failure, someone has an idea of what is causing this problem, I would be grateful.

    Thank you...

    Hello

You you properly connected portable TV and have you enabled the s-video on the TV?

Have you checked if it s possible to switch to the TV via the Nvidia nView Desktop Manager?
This option that you can find in the control panel. There must be an option to turn on the TV.
You can also try to update the hotkey utility. The P100-221 is a series of PSPA6E. Do not forget that you are using the correct driver.

But a question: have you used the Toshiba OS or have you installed the operating system from the Microsoft CD?

I can t tell a lot about the failure of update. Maybe something wrong on the inputs of server or Microsoft registry on your device. Try to search the knowledge base Microsoft for similar problems.

  • Satellite P10-304 - update Windows 7 problem

I have a Satellite P10 304 to 2003 which has Windows XP, but I need to update for obvious reasons. I bought a copy of Windows 7 (32 bit) and installed without any installation problem, however I can't update Windows.

I reinstalled, deleted the hard drive and reinstalled again. Tried the stop and start the Windows Update utility.
    Downloaded the stand-alone Windows Update.

Updated the BIOS to V2.0 and downloaded the Toshiba Service Station application (who says no update is necessary).
    All this without success.

My hopes were raised when I saw that the Station Service for Windows 7 32 bit software was available for the P10 304 but I am now at a loss.

Anyone know if this laptop can be upgraded to Windows 7 and how to get updates of work?

    Help is welcome.

    Peter

I'm sure that installation of Windows 7 update problems are not specific to Toshiba problems even if you use the Toshiba laptop.

From my point of few, you should check the Microsoft support pages to find the solution.
    For example this:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/w...#1TC=Windows-7

Just a tip: I had some problems in the past to install updates because of the antirust software. He locked the installation of some essential updates and after you disable temporal, updates could be installed...
Missing Service Packs might concern the single installation of patches.

I recently bought a Satellite P10 371, to use on business when away from home and I am a newcomer in the world of networks

The problem is that I do not get an internet connection. When I start the Configfree physician connectivity, it shows an orange alert triangle between Lan Wireless mini-PCI card and the wireless access point and a status of the cut-off line.

The Wireless Lan mini PCI card is enabled but WAP disabled.

The wireless network settings are for windows set up my wireless network.

It says under available networks and the box is empty.

Can someone tell me where I'm wrong? any help on this would be appreciated.

This does not mean that the box is empty.

If very simple as possible to configure a router for access to

  • Satellite P10-304: the problem writing and erasing CD - RW discs

Some need help pls. I own a Toshiba satellite P10-304 with a combo player SD-R2412 installed. When I try to burn a new CD - RW, it does ok, but wouldn't allow no other written on the same CD in another session. The written CD - RW is then recognized as a CD-ROM. In addition, it is not possible to erase the cd - rw usinig this player. When I take the cd written for my laptop office of deletion, as it's done with success and my toshiba can then burn again. Any ideas on what to do?

Additional information: laptop computer came bundled with "drag n dro cd" but I had to install Roxio and even tried the cd writing software provided with windows XP are done everything to nothing. I checked the 'advanced system info-error log' and the report there is 'the device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block'; I don't know what that means.

    Cheers.

    Nthunderbolt

    Hello

In my opinion, it's probably caused by software. In my opinion, you should remove all burning software and verify all burning functions with windows option. After deleting some software, it can happen that, in the registry editor it is a lot of waste that will not be removed completely.

In any case, delete all the burning software, and you can also try to remove the device from Device Manager DVD. Restart the laptop and DVD should be detected and installed correctly. Try using the option of engraving of Windows and if there is still problem writing once again please.

  • Problem of Toshiba Satellite P10 laptop!

    Hello!

I have a laptop TOSHIBA Satellite P10, Windows XP.

This is a new computer, not second hand!
The problem is that it stops when I connect it to the power adapter.

The only way I can work is it charge when turned off and then use it on battery.

The problem appeared after I bought it 20 days.
I sent it to the service of TOSHIBA, they have updated the BIOS, it worked perfectly for 5 hours (connected to the power adapter), and then the same problem appeared.

    Do you have any suggestions?
I'm looking forward to your answers!

    Christina

    Hello Christina,

Your laptop is replisse or herself down suddenly or do a controlled stop? What happens when you power on your portable computer when the power adapter is plugged?

  • Satellite P10 power problem

    Satellite P10-317

    * Symptoms *:

External DC LED stays on, but battery LED turns OFF (from green or orange) and laptop running on battery power only (Toshiba Power Management panel says that it has external DC AND the battery runs down). Disconnect and reconnect external DC does not cure but put into hibernation and resume the battery LED lights up again and he fled the external domain controller. If no battery is not connected, laptop just dies. Unfortunately, the problem is very intermittent. The battery is new and normally charges/discharges.

    * Diagnosis * (tentative): the DC regulator on board is dying

    * Question *: does anyone have the circuit diagrams? (anyone else seen this problem & what is the cure?)

    Thank you

    Julian

    Hello

AFAIK this diagram is part of the maintenance manuals and is not a public document. Because of that I am quite skeptical that someone can help you with it. You can try to contact the nearest authorized service provider. They have these documents, and perhaps they are ready to help you.

    Make a call.

  • Satellite P100-221: problem with driver battery composite microsoft

    Hello

I have problem with my satellite p100-221! A few days ago I had problems with my audio driver (audio conexant high definition), after starting it was indicates that the pilot of his failed to initialize, I reinstaleed this driver several times and at last it was working OK, but I noticed that windows does not see the battery.

The small cell in the status bar disappeared and I can not say for how long can I use laptop with battery. Laptop works as if it is connected to the AC. In the Device Manager appeared an exclamation on the battery composite microsoft.

I tried to renew the drivers but nothing. I deleted combatt.sys and cmbatt.sys in windows\system32\drivers but they appear again. I started in safe mode deleted, but after normal start, they do not appear. I also deleted them in Device Manager, and after start-up, this device did not and do not ask me to install the drivers.

    What can I do?

    Hello

I noticed that you did a lot of complex changes to your device. You deleted some files, update drivers, etc..
I guess that your operating system has been enough installed and worked properly.
Windows XP supports a system restore tool. This tool allows you to roll back the OS to the beginning.
In my opinion, you should try to use this option. Maybe he'll bring your laptop at the time where everything worked correctly.
