Satellite P10 722: what Mini-PCI WLAN can I integrated?

Hello

I have a Satellite P10 722. It seems to be ready wireless (it has an LED to show the WLAN activity). I would use an internal Mini-PCI card in it. Ideally, it would be a b/g card.

Anyone know what model/part number Mini-PCI card will work with this laptop.
She is not in the list of compatibility of the any of the maps on this page (http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/options_and_accessories_search.jsp?z=16&service=UK & selOptionCategory = 4696)

Thanks for your help,
Shane

Hello Shane

Sorry, but this kind of information can give you just the authorized service partner. I don't know if the P10 722 is ready WLAN but you can check only. In the lower corner of the unit, you will find WiFi coverage. Remove it carefully and check if there are two antenna WLAN (black and white) cables. If so, the device is definitely ready WLAN.

Contact the Service partner and ask them for you to adapt to your model of laptop. As far as I know, the consultation is free.

Just for info. One of my friends has P10 with WLAN (802 11b Agere) card.

Good bye

  • Satellite A20-S103 WiFi mini PCI card need help

    Hello

I own a Toshiba A20-S103. When I bought the camera there not of wireless. I have the switch but wireless. I would like to install it but I don't like solutions card mainly because of the portruding antennas and special care, I imagine that you must have for such a solution (do not break the card because of the carelesness). Now, I opened my laptop and I have the empty mini PCI slot and the antenna cables. I found several mini PCI card on the Toshiba site in the communication options and accessories section. The problem I have now is that although I found two mini PCI card 802.11a/b/g, which seems to be compatible with my model, I can't decide which is the best because the information provided for each of them are the same. The only thing that seems to be different is the reference number (PA3318U-2MPC and PA3298U-1MPC). Also, there is a two 802. 11 b / g cards compatible with my model but even once, I can't make my decision due to the fact that the information provided for these cards is not helping to distinguish between them. Looking in the manual, I found that my model suports only 802. 11a / b (or at least what they say). And there's a mini PCI 802.11 g on the Toshiba site which is not compatible with my model. If it makes me wonder if I can get a card 802.11 g. I would really like it for the higher speeds that it will support. I don't want to pay more money to use a PCI 802.11a/b/g only to discover that I can just conect to 11 Mbps and not 54 or so... Also, I found on the internet of the 802.11 cards g that promise speeds greater than 54 Mbps. Toshiba provides such a solution? If not, are there maps 802.11 g third-party compatible with my model? I hope that there is someone out there who can help me sort this mess.

    Hi Stefan

It is not easy to give you a proper answer. In my opinion, it should work, but it is also important to install a suitable driver for the wireless card. I'm sure that it is possible to install the driver for another model mobile using the same wireless card. It will be perhaps better to contact the Service partner and ask them because they have such information and more experience with this sort of thing.

    Hello

My DVD burner does not work, so I have no chance to install Windows XP from the recovery disks. I tried to boot from external DVD writer, but the device is not recognized. Similarly a bootable USB key.

That means Toshiba with "removable devices"? Or I made a mistake?

As far as I know Satellite P10 and P20 have removable optical drive. You can remove the CD/DVD drive and put it inside the floppy drive and use it as first boot device.

  • Satellite Pro C650 - what startup programs I can disable?

After about two weeks with a new Satellite Pro C650 that I bought for my wife, a light user, she is about to pounce on me.

Everything runs slowly. Click Start: wait. Open the control panel: wait. The time-out period is of the order of 20 to 30 seconds. Internet is often more slow - especially Internet Explorer, which often goes in a State does not. (Google Chrome run better even if it's not great either) Measures taken up to now include a defragmentation of the C: drive, which was 5% defragmented. I did a scan troubleshooting out of the control panel and it informs me that I have a lot of programs that run at startup and suggests that disable some. I had read previously that there is a problem with this Toshiba.

The question therefore is what to disable? I don't know what most of the programs are or what they do. I'll list the programs here and then gladly take suggestions. Furthermore, BitDefender has ranked three times in the startup list. I have two of them disabled for what it's worth.

The only apps I downloaded were BitDefender and Adobe Acrobat. McAfee antivirus has been removed. Other laptops in the House work fine with the same broadband wireless connection. Hoping someone can help and tell me what I can disable.

    The startup list:
    SAIICpl Application
    Synaptics Pointing Device Driver
    Message Center
    SmartFaceVWatcher
    Catalyst Control Center
    Nero BackItUp
    Default handler
    BitDefender 2011 (figure three times)
    Adobe Acrobat
    Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager
    All of these Toshiba applications:
    -Power Saver
    -Zoom utility
    -Flash Cards
    -ReelTime
    -TEMPRO
    -HDD SSD Alert
    -Volume regulators
    -Computer laptop registration
    -Gas station
    -Application of web camera

    Thank you.

    Malahideroad

    Hello

First of all, you can discover yourself how unique and applications that are controlled by these applications use google for more details.

But Nero BackItUp, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager can be disabled wihotu having issues with the laptop

TEMPRO is a tool of Toshiba which analyzes systems and provides information on the new Toshiba driver updates
It s your own decision whether or not you want to use
Registration for laptop helps you to register the warranty of notebooks and Station Service provides an option to optimize the performance of laptops, but it s nice to have, but it of not very important

  • Satellite M70 - 394 - what HARD drive I can install?

I have a Satellite M70-394 (PSM70E) that I would like to upgrade the hard drive.

Can you tell me what hard drive I'm able to install, such as what type of interface?
Do you also know if I can run windows 7?
and can you tell me if I installed a larger hard drive and a new operating system will be my original toshiba product recovery disk work.
then where in my drive hard is my factory set windows xp so I can remove and install the new operating system

    Hello

I m not a Satellite M70 owner but as far as I know this laptop comes with SATA drives. But you can check yourself if you remove the HARD drive and then you can see which interface it is.
If you have a SATA interface, you can buy each HARD drive you want. On interface SATA there is no capacity limit.

Normally you can install Windows 7 but it s not released yet. Theoretically, it should work but I'll wait until it's official market.

With a new HARD disk, you use the Toshiba recovery disc too. Why not? It s not dependent on the HARD drive you have so just boot make up and follow the instructions on the screen.

If you have any other questions, please let us know. :)

  • Unable to connect satellite P10 - 873 to 802.11 Wlan N Router

    I can't get my P10 873 to work with my 802.11n router.
The current Protocol inside this laptop's 802.11 g.

In my view, there is a way to reconfigure the settings, but my knowledge is lacking in this area.
Everybody out there is able to offer advice, or do I need a new laptop computer?

    Hello

You can't connect the laptop via a WLAN router 802.11 N because the card wifi does not support this standard WLan!

As you mentioned the wireless network adapter supports 802.11 G and it's different from 802.11 N

Therefore, change the Wlan standard in the configuration of the router for 802.11 G in order to connect to the laptop wireless.

    See you soon
