Satellite P10 804: adapter CA / CC emits noises

Food is regularly made terrible noises.

Can it be replaced with a Toshiba power adapter no?

If so, is there anything I need to know?

Looks like an AC adapter would be defective or maybe that it s only a cable broke.
However, you should not use an adapter that does not work. It s too risky

I would recommend using an original Toshiba AC adapter. In this case, you are always on the right side.

You can use the PA3290U-1ACA with DC 19V output 120W AC adapter

  • Satellite P10 804: how to remove the HARD drive?

I would like to remove the internal hard disk of 60 GB of my satellite P10 804 and replace it with a bigger drive, but cannot find a way to enter in the case of removing the HARD drive.

Does anyone have the details on how to do?

    Hello

To my knowledge, the HARD drive must be placed under the optical dirve.
To remove the HARD drive, first remove the battery and the optical drive, and then follow the steps below:

    1. remove the four black screws that anchor the shield of aluminum covering the HARD drive and pull it out.
    2. gently pull on the HARD drive the front panel of the computer to disconnect the system board, then pull it out.
    3. remove the four silver screws that attach the HARD drive to the HARD disk case.

But be careful. If you have no experience ask someone with more experience in these replacements.

  • Satellite P10 804 will not accept the upgrade of RAM

Apologies, this is it is a bit long and also if this question has been covered elsewhere here: I had a good nose autour and have not found something that seems to help.

In any case, I had a Satellite P10 804 during these past years, I bought in the United Kingdom.

Quite early in my time with this laptop, I upgraded the RAM. It was 3 or 4 years ago, when memory was not as cheap right now, so I bought just a single 1 GB module. P10-804 will take up to 2 GB of RAM.

The P10 804 came with 512 GB as standard in two modules. My upgrade means I got 1.25 GB, which was in very good health. Everything was fine until the end of last year when the defective laptop; I followed the fault in module 1 GB of RAM. It was a bit awkward since I now live in New Zealand. However, the provider of the RAM was very professional, stood by their warranty, and we arranged a swap. RAM prices had fallen, so I bought another module of 1 GB at the same time upgrade the laptop completely.

Now the problems really started. The laptop would not simply work with the new installed RAM modules. It would work with one alone, nor even less with my old configuration of a module of 1 GB and 256 GB module. Start and run for five minutes before a freeze; white screen with fans roar; blue screen; frozen screen normal with strange objects; No start at all. everything.

Everything that works now is my original 256 MB module (his partner disappeared). This leads me to assume that I don't have some sort of hardware failure?

1 GB modules are DDR333 SODIMM, CL2.5. This laptop will also have the DDR266 modules, and it has been suggested to me, lower speed might work. I can try this option since the RAM prices are * really * low now, especially if I get confirmation of this as a valid strategy possible.

The laptop BIOS is updated to v2.00 (maybe?), and I also upgraded the HDD to a 120 GB unit (this works very well and is partitioned for XP and Linux). And from time to time I empty the fan.

Any advice welcome. Thanks for reading.

Reading your message, I came to the conclusion that this issue must be linked to the new RAM module and this module is malfunctioning or is not fully compatible with your laptop.

The P10 can be upgraded to 2 GB, so you should be able to use two single RAM 1 GB modules

So it must be a module problem

  • Satellite P10 804 upgrading wireless card

    Hello

Ive been trying to find a list of compatible wireless cards to upgrade my Satellite P10 804 but can't find.

The wireless card is a Toshiba PA3171U-1MPC, but it does not have the standard 802.11 G and no WPA security.

Anyone know of the good cards replacement that will work on my laptop?

Ive met this one but I'm not sure if it's compatible or not because I can't find any compatibility for it info: PA3416U-1MPC

    Thank you

    Mark

    Hello

I think that the PA3416U-1MPC should be compatible.
I mean the laptop supports wireless Mini-PCI network card and PA3416U-1MPC is a Mini-PCI wireless network card.

The WLan antenna behind the screen of the laptop computers must be connected to the connectors on the wireless Mini-PCI network card.
Both connectors are identified with MAIN and auxiliary normally a white cable goes to the ESSENTIAL and a black at the entrance to THE

  • How to make a wireless upgrade on Satellite P10 804 card

I have a satellite P10 804 and it has a 802. 11B wireless card built (only part no PA3171U-1MPC). It's too slow to stream multimedia from my office. My router has capacity G + and I would like to update my wireless card to be somewhere near the same speed. The upgragdeable of cards is integrated (easily)? If so, is the PA3374U-1MPC card compatible? and how can I change?
    Thank you
    Shaun

    Hello

Yes, surely. You can improve it, but you should not use original toshiba parts. You can enter a Wi - Fi card with the standard of g on ebay for example and install it yourself. the wireless LAN card must be placed on the bottom of your machine behind a cover that is fixed with a screw.

I suggest, if you plan to buy a new one, take an atheros card because they are affordable, they are stable cards and chipsets quality is very good (send/receive/you connecting to a network) If you can´t do something wrong with an atheros chipset.

    Welcome them

    Hello

May I ask why you n t use the recovery CD Toshiba to restore the operating system on the P10 Sat?
Simply boot from the restore CD from Toshiba that came with the laptop. This CD contains the Windows operating system with all the drivers and tools pre-installed.

The installation process takes about 10 minutes. It of very simple but please note that this new facility will format the HARD drive.

    Hello

All BIOS for all Toshiba units, you can download from the Toshiba site:
    http://www.toshiba-tro.de/subpage/BIOS.html

But you can not downgrade the BIOS for example: since version 1.2 to 1.1
This is only possible by Toshiba ASP.
In this case, if you want to downgrade the BIOS you should contact the service partner.

  • Problem reading DVD (SD-R6112) on the Satellite P10 804 under Xp Pro SP2

My Toshiba DVD SD-R6112 (P10-804) now reads no DVD-r it just to burn with Nero 6.6
    The sysmtoms/anamnesis is therefore
    (1) it used to work fine. That is, that I never had a problem with playing on the P10 DVD, that I burned on the P10
    (2) DVDs burned before (before a few weeks ago) on the P10 continues to be readable on the P10
    (3) BUT DVD burned recently (5 or 10 last burned on 2 different types of media and two different burners) can be read in the drive of P10. The DVD is not yet recognized - it sometimes changes shape explorer DVD - RW CD - R, but that's all. No file, no nothing.
    (4) these same (unreadable by P10) DVD is very well played on two other DVD players I have (Freecom USB and divx standalone player). The drive can read the DVD (USB Freecom) CDFS file system reports, no free space (Nero 6.6.0.14 was said to not to allow future sessions) and all appear normal.

The DVD driver is Microsoft 5.1.2535.0 1/7/2001. The DVD 1031 firmware revision.

Nero was the only program running when the DVD is burned (no file to add). The verified OK after burning DVD.
I can't find an update of the firmware on the Toshiba site so I'm a little stuck on what to do next
    Any ideas?
    TFAI

    Hello

I read in several journals, computer and on some sites that not all drives are compatible with all media. Sometimes, readers cannot read the media burned because of the 3rd party software that prevents access to the media or files.
Generally, it is not easy to say why some readers read and write media and some readers cannot handle the same media. There are many factors.

Sometimes, the firmware update will help you resolve problems with reading or writing.
I found this SD-R6112 page with a driver for this device and the latest firmware version.

In my view, that he could run in the hundreds.

    All Tips how do appreciated.

    Hello

You can install the Windows operating system on your laptop and need to install the drivers of P10 separately
The drivers can be downloaded from the Toshiba page.

Of course, you need to update the Win for the last state operating system but it should run automatically, you can drink a coffee and wait ;)

  • Satellite P10 804 is over heating and cutting

My Satellite P10-0804 seems to be stopping down to often cause of overheating.

I guess that there is a thermostat to control it.

Is there away that I can fix this, without sending the unit?

Changing the setting in the "Toshiba Power Management Utility" can improve things? With that, I don't see much possibility to change settings if the unit is plugged into current alternative.

-In the "Advanced" tab, there is a selection for the "method Colling", default value 'Max Performance Mode' which is the best choice or can it be changed to 'Mid Performance Mode' or 'silent '?

    Hello

No, you should not change some settings powersaver. Simply do the following:

    1. take a brush and a can with compressed air (which can be obtained in every electronics store)
    2. use the brush to clean the outer holes the cooling system for your processor
    3. use the bottle with compressed air to blow some air trough the cooling modules, I guess they must be really clobbed with dust
    4. If the product overheats again then go to a computer technician who is familiar with the mobile computing systems and let it clean the CPU cooling system correctly, including the fat CPU cooling

    That's all

Because over the last six months my camera from excessive electrical noise, like a refrigerator / freezer! No idea what this could be and how much it would cost to fix.

I bought the unit in spring 04.

I replaced a disk failed a year ago.

It s about the issue of control of volume.

  • Satellite P10 804: Toshiba Power Options - how to disable Hibernation

    Model SP10 - 804

How to turn off the Hibernation feature?

The 'Enable Hibernation' box is checked and grayed out so I can't uncheck it!
I don't use this feature and would like to delete the hiberfil.sys file that is beyond 1 GB.

I understand that by disabling the hibernation, this file should remove. I read about it here:
    http://www.softwarepatch.com/tips/Hiberfil-sys-XP.html

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I presume that the Toshiba Power saver utility has been installed on your system.
In this case, the windows own power options are disabled and the TPS control the hibernation and the day before.

You can switch to the mode of power window in Control Panel-> power options control.
Here, you have to choose to another scheme of power as the Toshiba power saver.
Otherwise, you can remove the GST from the system!

However, in my opinion the hiberfil.sys has no bad influence on the system and it is really not necessary to delete that file.
On my system, the file size was never 1 GB.
