Satellite P10 PSP10E shutdown and the light stays on

Hello

I'm having some problems with my old man (2004) Satellite P10 PSP10E-0SCM7-FR

One day he simply closed (as if power, no BSOD) and the power and the led for WIFI and the CD/DVD button remains lit.

Most of the time I can't activate it under as the power button is still on. (Power button, WIFI, and CD/DVD are on).

I tried to remove the battery and unplug the computer for at least 30mm
I tried to press the Start button for a period of time (one minute) then disconnect everyting (battery and power cord) at least 30 minutes before to turn it back on
I have reinitialzed the computer using history CD provided with the computer
I removed the radiator cleaned as well as the fan and then replace a new thermal grease
I changed the memory

Yet I still have the same problem, for some reason, the computer simply shutdown and the light stays on. Occasionally, the power light start, and I am able to restart the computer. But I'm unable to understand what makes the computer is shut down, or when that happens, what makes the power light turns off and make it possible to start the computer again.

No idea what's going on?
The Start button / stop and led market would be an error message?
If so, what that means?

Any help is very appreciated. Thank you!

Damien

Hello

Usually, books closed due to the high temperature and in this case, the unit must be disassembled and cleaned professionally, but it seems that you already have what I read in your post above.

Probably its a motherboard problem.
The RAM modules appear to be checked and is not RAM issue.
So problem mobo is possible

  • Satellite L - water damage and the laptop does not light

    Hello

I don't know if this is the right forum for this, but I was just wondering if someone could give me some advice. My brother spilled some water on my laptop 3 days ago (argh!). He immediately turned off and won't start up again. I stamped it towards the top as long as I could, removed the battery and positioned in a V shape to try to help dry. It is still not started. When I plug in the adapter, the screen remains blank, but there is a very low humming noise and the lights flash:

The power light flashes green very clearly
    Battery green LED flashes weakly
The hard drive LED blinks green VERY weakly

I'm really hoping that the laptop is not dead and I'll at least be able to recover my hard drive, but it seems unlikely. I'd appreciate really any advice that anyone can give me in regard to what could be wrong or how I can fix this problem.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

    Hello!

I agree with Luke and the best way is to contact you an ASP. They can check the laptop and tell exactly which parts must be Exchange or not.
On the Toshiba site, you can search an ASP:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported downloads & => find an authorized service provider

If the HARD drive is not defective, you can backup your data to another PC or laptop as Luke suggested.

  • Satellite P10: Controller USB and IEEE 1394 do not work after WXP re - install

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I recently reinstalled WXP home on my satellite p10 computer laptop and then installed all drivers and utilities from the support CD that follows with Notepad.

Everything works except for USB and Firewire.
Very strange screen system shows me that I have bad driver for usb controller, but when I run the utility chipset problem remains. I even downloaded the drivers on the Toshiba support home page in the hope that it would be a different version and they would work, but nada... same problem persists.

Someone knows how to solve this problem, or what is suitable driver for the controller USB on satellite p10 554 and where can I find this driver (without the entire chipset utility?)

Thank you in advance for your help!
    David

    Hello

the funny thing is that USB is IN the chipset. The problem is that you can extract some drivers you need, given that utilities chipset intel are a complete set.

So, I suggest you go to the website of intel (www.intel.com) and then download the chipset utility. Don t forget to update your windows (Service pack, updates, bugfixes) because the operating system has sometimes problems with the hardware installed, then an update will solve this...

I hope that you have little luck with the original software of the chipset intel.
Give a few comments after completing the makings and let us know if it worked.

    Good bye

  • CD drive does not open and the light does not work

original title: single CD player problem

The problem with my CD player seems to be unique I can't find an answer, or someone else with the same problem online.

My computer is custom built, the CD player lasted me 1.5 years no problem, not until one day I realize, it does not open and the light does not work on it, I ordered a new drive and installed that one, still does not work. so, I replaced the SATA cable which connects to the motherboard, still does not.

When I go to my computer the drive appears but when I right click > eject it says: "year error occurred while ejecting CD drive D".  It also appears in devices such as SCSI CdRom Device Manager but I am not sure if it's actually my CD player.

I also tried troubleshooting http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cd_dvd_drive_problems and no solution.

WTFFF ideas? I really hope that its not the motherboard

There are two cables you need to connect to the drive, one for data and one for power.  You must connect both training at work.  If you only have the data cable is plugged and not cable power which would be a possible cause of the problem that you see.

  • Satellite L500-1XL - does boot and the screen stays black

    Hello

I have a Satellite L500-1XL, when I turn it on the fan and lights and the hard drive light blinks several times then nothing, he's not going to the Toshiba screen remains black screen, tried ext monitor but still nothing.

The fan always runs very quietly and the hard drive is running in, I put the hard drive in an another L500 and it is very good and can be accessed without problem, it has only 1 stick of 2 GB of RAM DDR3 and the other L500 I is DDR2 so I can't try to change the RAM. If I remove the ram should it beep or does only desktop computers do this? Mine does nothing when it is removed.

Any help would be very useful, thank you!

    Hi gazzdowzell,

If your laptop doesn t boot it seems to be a hardware bad working it could be everything, motherboard, BIOS, CPU, etc and it is difficult to say what exactly is the problem.

First of all, I would like to try this:
[What steps must be followed if your Toshiba laptop does not start? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=21]

If it doesn t work, please contact a service provider authorized in your country. If your laptop is under warranty, repairs are free.
In addition if you remove the RAM and the beep of t n for laptop, it seems to be another problem. If you have removed the RAM module would be defective, the computer would have a beep.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite P10: clouds white and purple fading across the screen during startup

I had problems with my laptop PC-10 so I bought a new hard drive (Fujitsu 60 GB instead of 40 GB) standard and have it myself. I was working very well with it for a long time, until suddenly I have had the strangest problem that I've ever seen on a computer...

Sometimes, when you start the laptop, instead of the screen normal red "TOSHIBA" and the message to start Windows XP, the laptop displays simply little weird white and purple clouds fading across the screen, fading finally on a screen very dark, but not quite black.

I thought first it was a problem with the DVD player, like when he finally gave and started normally, the DVD drive has been disabled. However, I noticed in the BIOS, under "Advanced" the Infrared Port shows intermittently - it shows with the [Disabled] setting next to him, but will be then disappear from the list, then reappear again and then go again and so on.

Sometimes my computer will function normally, then completely shut (mouse and all) and will restart with the clouds!

I looked in the Windows Event Viewer for when the laptop has locked up and have seen anything to do with a problem with IRQS for the Infrared Port. I disabled the infrared port in Device Manager (I managed to activate in the BIOS by loading the standard BIOS settings) and rebooted, but it started upward with the clouds once again, so I have the feeling that the infrared port is the culprit - loose connection may be defective material because it is located close to the DVD player and HD player.

I was wondering if anyone has seen something like this before on any computer, and if they knew how to solve? It seems completely illogical that a defective IR port could change what is displayed on the screen on startup, unless of course there is something wrong with my HD boot sector?

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    Tom

    Hello

I've never seen like this problem before and I don't think that this issue has something to do with the HARD drive or the IrDA port.
As much as I know the IrDA port is not available on Satellite P10 - xxx

For me, this looks like a faulty screen or graphics card.
Have you tried to connect the external display? If this isn't the case, then try to do and check if it also appears on the external display.

I recommend also to recover the laptop with Toshiba Recovery CD and then check the functionality.
But if the malfunction appears so I would recommend contacting the Toshiba ASP for control from laptop

The system just trying to go to sleep and restarts again, sometimes doing, it resets the date and time of the computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello

May I ask why you n t use the recovery CD Toshiba to restore the operating system on the P10 Sat?
Simply boot from the restore CD from Toshiba that came with the laptop. This CD contains the Windows operating system with all the drivers and tools pre-installed.

The installation process takes about 10 minutes. It of very simple but please note that this new facility will format the HARD drive.

  • Satellite P10: How to enable the WiFi of Intel 2200BG card

    Hello

I have a psp10e Satellite that I recently installed a WiFi of Intel 2200BG card. After having problems to light up I put the Ribbon on the PIN 13 on the map to turn on the radio.

I have installed all the latest drivers / BIOS updates and spend hours searching the Internet I am still yet to find a cure for the hardware switch/fn + f8 and the WiFi led to work.

Is there something that everybody has understood to make the switch/led work material? There must be a better remedy than a piece of duct tape! It is the BIOS that has nothing to do with the hardware switch?

    Hello

You isolated the correct pin code? With the 13 PIN is pin 7 when you look at the map. And unfortunately there is no biosupdate for these machines, because everything is 'wired', then you will need to follow the alternative route...

    Sorry man

  • Satellite P10 - after installing XP, the SD card reader does not exist

I formatted my Satellite P10 and complete nine with XP SP1 installed. Since that time the integrated SD card reader no longer exists in the system (when I insert an SD card it doesn't work). Is this a problem with a driver or what can be the problem?

Before formatting, it's normal. Pleas explain easily. I'm not a professional user.

    Hello

What drive did you use to reinstall Windows XP? If you use the Toshiba recovery disc are all drivers and pre-installed tools because the disc contains a picture of the factory settings.

In your case, I would try to install the latest driver for the European driver of Toshiba download page card reader. Maybe it's just a driver problem you s wrote:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

I m wondering that you only use the SP1 for XP. SP2 or SP3 new contains a lot of important security updates. I recommend you to update your XP version.

  • Satellite L405D-11V - freezes and the screen goes black when you watch the video

OK, so I have the Toshiba Satellite L405D-11V, I had a breakdown, basically, the computer freezes at any time and the screen would go black, with the fan and lights still ongoing, this could be at the start, or a few hours using the laptop, so I decided to ring Toshiba technology support and they arranged for my laptop to collect and be expelled for repairs.

I was able to track repairs online via the tracking service and was able to see what they were doing to my laptop, he said that they have ordered a part, it was underway and the repairs are completed.

However, I got the laptop back today, I turn it on, all right, I start using the cell phone that everything is fine, so I decide to watch a video on youtube, and it freezes again, so I turned off now pressed the power button, hoping he wasn't that a large, I turn back to and load the video once again it freezes and the screen goes black again, after that whenever I am watching a video or a game, it causes the computer to crash and freeze as before the repairs. So there is always a mistake, but I'm not sure what to do

Its still under warranty, I bought the laptop from the Comet, but I really don't want to send the laptop for repairs again and find it comes back with the same fault, is it interesting sending distributed, maybe see if the comet will replace the laptop as its still less than a year to buy the laptop, or it'll just be useful to save all the hassle and buy a new laptop? If this fault happened to someone else, I could use you some help, and if someone could shed some light regarding what could be bad?

    Thank you

    Hey Buddy,

You changed something on the configuration after you got your notebook back from repair? You update a driver, or something else?
What operating system you use on your L405D satellite?

To be honest it is really hard to say why it happens because technicians test to check if your laptop is running correctly.

In my opinion you should try to update the display driver. Maybe it's the origin of the problem of s
If this isn't the case, I recommend installing Windows from Toshiba Recovery disk to restore to factory settings. These parameters are pre-tested by Toshiba and should work.

If you still have the problem, you must contact the technicians again. I mean you could track the online repair and according to your assignment, everything worked well during repair, so in my opinion he should t be a problem to contact guys exactly.
Explain your very detailed problem. I think that everything can be clarified then. :)

    Hi all

The drop down menu that appears when I pressed on the FN key disappeared as well as when I turn of the backlit using FN + Z, light under the keyboard just turns off but the light beneath logo buttons on it near the power buttons and satellite does not turn off. How can I solve this?

The computer displays the electric meter error and eco top near power button never lights energy saving does not work. I tried to reinstall the driver of programs/toshiba eco, but it says BIOS not supported.

  • Satellite P10 replace battery when the AC is connected

I have a problem with my laptop P10.
When the laptop is turned on and AC power is on as well, it changes the battery so that I can only for work on 1.5 hours. However, the main power supply is open!
When the laptop is turned off the red indicator light starts to work and the battery may charge himself again, but is not that that when the laptop is on.

Anyone know what that could be the problem and what I need to do?

    Thank you in advance!

    > When the laptop is turned off the red indicator light starts to work and the battery may charge himself again, but is not that that when the laptop is on.
I m not 100% sure and I can provide only a few suggestions, but for me, it looks like an electronic malfunction of power.
It is part of the motherboard and to my knowledge, the whole motherboard must be replaced to solve this problem

However, you should definitely contact a mobile technician who could check it out exactly.

    Best regards and good luck

  • Satellite P10 - how to change the HARD drive?

    Hello

I want to change my Satellite P10 for a bigger HARD drive.
But I Don t know how to remove the DvD drive.

On this laptop, I mean that the HARD drive is under the DvD drive.

Please help me, if you know how to change the HARD drive.

    Hi Frank,.

I'm not too sure about the P10, but on my A30 the hadr drive is under the DVD-ROM. It is secured in place by a single screw (accessible from under the laptop), and when it is deleted the DVD-ROM slides just to place revealing the hard drive.

The hard drive is fixed with 4 screws (2 on each side)

    Morning

Can someone tell me how to get my laptop Satellite P10 to work out of my router Netgear wireless zone that goes with my virgin package please?

I work in the area of modem at the moment... or the P10 wi - fi like my acer laptop which is everything mounted in.
Be more grateful if anyone here can work this 1 out for me the switch on the left side of the laptop is slipped on.

    Thanks... take care of Dennis

    Hi mate

Have you read the manual of the router?
Do this if you didn't check the manual and the instructions how to set up the router!

Regarding the availability of Sat P10 and WLan.
As far as I know the other Satellite P10 support different hardware specifications, which means that not all P10 have been equipped with the WLan card.
You should check your device manager if the wireless network adapter is installed.
If the laptop doesn't support wireless network card then I would recommend using a USB WiFi key which is the simplest solution to prepare the notebook WLan.
