Satellite P100-160 and memory upgrade

I have a P100-160 with 2 GB of memory installed.
I use Win7 (32 bit) and do some really serious graphics, and management changes.
I use about 2.75 TB of hard drives (USB).

Can you get it someone please let me know if I could reasonably expect to see an improvement in the performance and reliability by increasing the installed memory.

Other (other than buying a new laptop) suggestions for performance improvement would be welcome.

Thank you

Ian

If you are happy with this old piece of hardware you n t need new laptop computer. Upgrade of RAM is OK and you can do it alone. According to tender specifications that your P100 can be upgraded up to 4 GB of RAM.

Compatible memory modules for your Satellite are:
1 GB (PA3411U-2M1G)
2 GB (PA3513U-1M2G)

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

    Why not?

Satellite P100 supports the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200-PIN SODIMM memory modules of the series.

You can switch to 4 GB max.

I currently have a Satellite P100-160 part number: PSPAAE-01D00UEN. Is it possible to upgrade the processor in this machine, I find it very slow in the graphics work I do.

Any other suggestions as to speed up the machine would be greatly received.

    Thank you

    Ian

    Hi IanGreen,

A CPU upgrade is not possible, or let s say not supported. All that is supported is the preinstalled Toshiba CPU. If you want another CPU, sometimes at your own risk. Probably the motherboard, BIOS or chipset is not able to handle this or the cooling module is not good enough for faster CPU

Anyway, your laptop is not the most recent, and if you need more performance, you should look for a new model ;)

    Hello

I downloaded the user manual for this laptop from the Toshiba page and it says that you can use the 160 GB HARD drive.
I think that he n t be a problem to use a bigger like 200 HDD or 250 GB.

Sat P100 supports a SATA HDD controller and you should therefore use the HARD drive 2.5 SATA.

  • Satellite P100 - 429 (PSPA3E) memory upgrade to 4 GB

I have 2 GB of Ram at the moment and would like to 4 GB is possible, accept the Bios and I run Windows Vitsa Home Edition.

    Hello

I googled a bit and found some information s
It seems that the Satellite P100-429 supports the 4 GB of RAM.
The Intel® 945 PM Express chipset, which is installed in this notebook supports 4 GB to 400, 533 and 667 MHz

So, theoretically, you might be able to pass to 4 GB of RAM.

But note; If you are using Vista 32-bit, then the OS will see only 3.2 GB

To get full access 4 GB of RAM, you will need the 64-bit Windows OS.

I understand I have to do a clean install of the operating system, so my 2 Q is where can I get all the programs of Toshiba I got with the pc?

    Thannks for the help

    Hello

Up to 8 GB of RAM according to specification for laptop computer, you can upgrade.
You must use the RAMs 1 GB / 2 GB / 4 GB DDR2 800 MHz. If you 2x2gb for now, you can buy 4 GB of RAM additional or maybe two of them to use maximum RAM.

Module of RAM of 4 GB compatible a part PA3670U-1M4G number.

Win7 drivers download page you will find under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/windows7_drivers.jsp
Unfortunately for your models PSAGCE drivers are not available for the moment. I'm sure that the pilots will be ready for download in the next few days. From time to time to check this page and you will see when drivers will be there.

I am running Vista on a Satellite P100-160 and you just install Office 2007. Initially, Outlook work very well and then changed to send only messages but not get it back. I tried to uninstall and reinstall but no improvement. I know that the server settings are very well because I can run from another machine on the same home network and download the mail.

I also have Norton security on the computer and I wonder if somehow the Port used to download mail (110) may be blocked. Someone else had this problem or any suggestions on how to fix.

  • Audio problems when playing and the screen fades on Satellite P100-160

Hi, I bought a new Toshiba Satellite P100-160 of Currys today.
I bought it for the primary purpose of the use of broadcast software OtsAV playing at live concerts between shows.
Any audio device I play glitches in places if I use OtsAv or Windows Media Player. It is not constant, but there's something not quite right with her.

I also noticed that the screen will dim sometimes, then clear up again without reason apparent.

Any ideas what the problem may be?

It happens when the fan starts and stops?

As you can see the BIOS, see the two sticks of 2 GB, but it also shows that the BIOS supports only 3 GB of RAM? Would it not possible to Flash my motherboard with the firmware of another model of laptop computer? Or is there a BIOS update in the near future that will allow me to make use of my full 4 GB of RAM?

    Hello

Normally, the Satellite P100-160 supports 4 GB of RAM. If you check the user manual, you can find this information it can be upgraded to 4 GB of RAM with two 2 GB memory modules.

Just a question: how much will be shown in the BIOS directly? He acknowledges the full 4 GB of RAM?

And don t forget you can only use 4 GB of RAM with a 64 bit OS. If you use 32-bit OS, you can only use up to 3.2 GB of RAM.
Have you installed Linux 64-bit version?

  • Games on Satellite P100-160

    Hello

Can you tell me if the Satellite P100-160 is a good machine for games?

    Thank you

    TREV

Why not; Satellite P100-160 supports Intel Core 2 Duo (Merom) T5200 1.6GHz CPU, 17 inch screen and 100 GB HARD disk.
BUT it uses only an Intel 945GM 128 MB shared memory graphics card.
I think the older games will work, but you can only dream if you want to play games like Doom3 or another generation with a maximum yield games!

I m also a hardcore gamer and I would use only the desktop PC with new graphics cards to play games. Desktop PC are easier to upgrade and you have no problems with graphics cards drivers ;)

    Hello

The Intel graphics card is simply not powerful enough to handle the latest PC games.
You think so, why all the hardcore gamer don t buy computers laptops, but during the CPU clock and buy new graphics for PC s Office cards?

The laptop is not comparable with the desktop PC. It's just different technology according to the limitations of hardware upgrade on your laptop, you can spend only the HARD drive and RAM.
