Satellite P100-160: what disk are compatible?

My laptop is very slow with Vista, I format every month to make it a little faster but the hard drive is so slow, which is always reading (light still flashes). I would like to replace with a 100 GB SATA 7200 RPM HD, how can I check the compatibility? Has anyone tried it?
Thank you
Tom

Hello

The laptop already came with the 100 GB (5400 RPM) SATA HDD.
The higher speed (7200 RPM) HARD drive shouldn't have a bad influence on the compatibility of the HARD disk!

But I don t think that greater speed of HARD drive will increase the performance of the laptop immensely. Of course, it s best to use a 7200 RPM HARD drive as a 5400 RPM HARD drive, but the difference is not really noticeable.

However, the compatible hard drives can also be purchased from the ASP in your country.

    Hello

I am currently on a Toshiba Satellite A300D 11s with an AMD Athlon TK 57 1900 Mhz CPU.
Please tell me what processors are compatible with this laptop motherboard, and what would be the best option of upgrade? (performance and heat wise management).

    Thank you.

    Hello

CPU holders depends on the chipset and in most of the cases of BIOS support.
As far as I know the laptop A300D-11 supports the chipset AMD M690G (RS690M + SB600 code name) so you can only use AMD processors.
As far as I know the Mobile Athlon XP - M, Mobile Athlon 64, Turion 64, and Sempron Mobile processors would be compatible with this chipset, but there is always a question open about BIOS support.

I have Intel Mobile Celeron clocked at 1.6 GHz in my Satellite 1410 714. What are the compatible processors? Please write typ (Celeron or P4 - M), speed, package and sSpec number. I found the processor Mobile Intel Celeron processor 2.20 GHz SL73Y (http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SL73Y) - but I don't know if this CPU will fitt of my Satellite.

    Thank you all :)

    Hello

This notebook should be a little older. Am I wrong?
There are not a lot of information when I try to google for this model of laptop.
But I think I found what you are looking for :D

The motherboard must be compatible with the CPU:

Mobile Intel Celeron processor clocked at 1.6 GHz, 1.7 GHz, 1.8 GHz
Processor speed: 1.6 GHz to 1.45V
The processor bus speed: 133 MHz

Mobile Intel Pentium 4-M 1.7 GHz processor, 1.8 GHz, 1.9 GHz, 2.0 GHz, 2.2 GHz with Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology
The processor bus speed: 400 MHz

But you know, the faster processor will produce more heat and therefore the temperature rises. This could lead to overheating.

  • Satellite A50-522: what drives are compatible

    Hello

I have the following problem, could someone help me thank you
I have a toshiba satellite a50-522 and the hard drive seems to be dead

While I was looking to replace.
So here's the question; Where can I find a list of the compatible HDD with the laptop?

    Thank you

    Hello

To my knowledge, Toshiba provides official information on hard drives compatible.
But don t worry buddy. I think I could help a bit.
Always is that the Satellite A50 was delivered with the 40 GB drive HARD IDE (ATA-6)
Therefore, you need to use hard drives that support the IDE!
The SATA drives are not compatible!

Now a few words about the size of the HARD drive. Laptops BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation and not all HARD drive sizes are supported. But I think 60 or 80 GB would be compatible so just testing everything.

  • Satellite A30-414: what processors are compatible?

Hello, I have a satellite a30-414 without the central unit and I don't know which cpu is able to use.
    Is the socket 478? 479?
    Should I use a P4M 2.4 Ghz or I can also use a P4M 2.0 as the SL6CL or 1.6 as the SL5YU?

    Thank you all.

    Hello

I studied in the net for details A30 and it seems that the following processors could be compatible.

Intel Celeron CPU up to 2.8 GHz (without HTT)
Intel Pentium 4 (NW) CPU up to 3.06 GHz (without HTT)
Intel Pentium 4 (NW) CPU to 3.2 GHz (with HTT)
CPU Intel Pentium 4 (Prescott) up to 3.46 GHz (with HTT)

But to my knowledge the Toshiba doesn't support any replacement of the CPU. That's why you get no guarantees that the laptop will only work stable after replacing the CPU.
You should consider overheating problems after upgrade CPU. The fact is that faster CPUS produce more heat and therefore increase the temperature.

I'm really interested in getting this machine (P100-st9772) primarily for use in games. But for the cost I want to be able to upgrade the video card, RAM and anything else besides. Is it possible to upgrade?
Also Toshiba do ship in Ireland or South Africa?

    Thank you...

    Hello

Please don t compare cell phone technology with PC desktop technology. Parts laptop such as graphic cards or motherboards are not the same thing as parts designed for office use and that is why it s not easy or not possible to update!

On the laptop, you can pass only the common areas like the RAM or HARD drive but it of not possible to update the graphics card!

    > Also Toshiba do ship in Ireland or South Africa
Don't talk to me, but I m sure many computer dealers provide Toshiba laptops. If this isn't the case, you can search in the internet for some online dealers!
I bought my laptop online dealer. It is 15% cheaper!

    Hello

The Intel graphics card is simply not powerful enough to handle the latest PC games.
You think so, why all the hardcore gamer don t buy computers laptops, but during the CPU clock and buy new graphics for PC s Office cards?

The laptop is not comparable with the desktop PC. It's just different technology according to the limitations of hardware upgrade on your laptop, you can spend only the HARD drive and RAM.
You cannot add also all other ports for laptop. It is not possible :(

  • Satellite P100-160: problems of Vista Outlook 2007 download mail from POP3 server

I am running Vista on a Satellite P100-160 and you just install Office 2007. Initially, Outlook work very well and then changed to send only messages but not get it back. I tried to uninstall and reinstall but no improvement. I know that the server settings are very well because I can run from another machine on the same home network and download the mail.

I also have Norton security on the computer and I wonder if somehow the Port used to download mail (110) may be blocked. Someone else had this problem or any suggestions on how to fix.

As a last resort I clean the entire disk and re-install from the product recovery disc and see what happens.

    Thanks for the info.

  • Satellite P100-160 - screen Vertical burst

Satellite P100-160 my son has developed a fault on the screen that no one seems able to identify the cause of.

If you imagine that the screen is divided into six equal vertical columns about 3 inches wide, the third vibrates from top down so that the image is blurry. Sometimes it stops after an hour - but recently it just keeps going. The other "columns" are very good. What is the screen itself (easily replaceable), or the video card (on the motherboard) or another component such as the inverter?
For now I'm not sure if scrap it and buy a new one or replace the screen.

    Any ideas?

    Hey,.

I think that the best way to address this issue must connect to an external monitor to your laptop. If you notice the same problem on external monitor the problem is related to the graphics card itself. If the display is faulty and must be replaced.

Then connect an external monitor and check what's happening!

I formatted my laptop about a month ago and have already 15 blue screen errors, my memory is ok, I let my phone update of its self.

Please help me, I'm thinking that it my motherboard, but I'm not an expert, when its not to crash it works very well, had a few other problems.

Sorry, it's really long to read but I don't know what to do, thank you

    Hi Sarah,.

I suggest formatting again and see what happens. You have also all updates installed (Vista SP1 if you are running Vista or XP SP3 if you're running XP?).

    Hope this helps

  • Satellite P100-160 - system does not boot

    Hi all

I was hoping someone may be able to help me with a problem I have with my Satellite P100-160.
I was using it the other night without power connected when my battery ran out and he stopped.
When I reconnected the power and it works I got the usual message asking if I wanted to start as normal I did.
To do this i Gets the icon in the lower right corner telling me the system was trying to install a new mass storage device driver.

He couldn't find it and I haven't added or removed something in my system.
When I stopped and went to the re - start the next time, I received a message on the start screen in the sense of:
    error
conflict of resources - controllers USB bus pci motherboard bus: 0a, device: function 04:01

    error
resource conflict - controller mass storage of the pci on motherboard bus: 0a, device 04 function 02

    error
resources - bus pci motherboard conflict: 0a, device: 04, function 03

Press F1 to resume F2 to Setup

I cannot go into the installer, but if I take the system just hangs and stop all the hard disk activity. I have managed to do successfully start once but no more, can't get into safe mode or anything. When I have it at my local computer store the guy he looked the error and said: it's broken, the motherboard has gone and there is nothing I can do with it. Im very disappointed that the laptop is only 2 years old and I would have thought that it would last longer than that.

So my question s are the right guys, it's broken or is there something that can be done with it? If it is broken I can access the contents of my hard drive with another laptop (the guy from the store said something on to using a hard disk enclosure and use it as an external hard drive?)

Thanks in advance for any advice

    D

    Hello

It seems that the motherboard is affected
In the message error - bus motherboard pci resource conflict: 0a, device: 04, function 03 the motherboard is mentioned, so everything looks like motherboard failure.
But to be 100% sure you should ask the authorized Toshiba service provider of the opinion.

    Good luck

  • Docking for Satellite P100-160

I am struggling to find how compatible with my Satellite P100-160 docking station.
    What they do a?
Could I use any docking station?
Where can I get a (or even at all)?

Please excuse my ignorance, but I'm kinda a thickie when it comes to this sort of thing.

    Any help appreciated

Your phone model does not support a docking station. But you can use of external ports like Dynadock replicators.
This beautiful little thing should meet your needs. Give it a try if you need to port extensions or something like that.

Of course, you can use any other USB port replicator if you wish.

  • Games on Satellite P100-160

    Hello

Can you tell me if the Satellite P100-160 is a good machine for games?

    Thank you

    TREV

Why not; Satellite P100-160 supports Intel Core 2 Duo (Merom) T5200 1.6GHz CPU, 17 inch screen and 100 GB HARD disk.
BUT it uses only an Intel 945GM 128 MB shared memory graphics card.
I think the older games will work, but you can only dream if you want to play games like Doom3 or another generation with a maximum yield games!

I m also a hardcore gamer and I would use only the desktop PC with new graphics cards to play games. Desktop PC are easier to upgrade and you have no problems with graphics cards drivers ;)
