Satellite P100-160 with Vista: No TV-OUT after downgrade to XP

Hi guys hope you can help me out here...

I recently bought a laptop (satellite p100-160) with Vista on it to know that it was not compatible with wot I bought dethrone so I decided to downgarde for XP Home Edition... Solange decommissioning that I had to install a few drivers like there's do and everything went well...

Anyway, a few weeks later (yesterday), I went to watch a movie and when I pluged in my tv out cable, I have nothing. I tried to unplug and plug in again a few times but still nothing, it normally switches on in about 20 seconds... So im guessing that either I need to a driver or a Summit.

Can someone help me out here?

Thanks a lot

You n t need a special driver to use the s-video port.
You must install only the compatible graphics driver.

How have you tried to switch to the TV device?
Have you used the FN + F5 key combination?
You should do this.

Connect the TV to the laptop using the s-video port. Then select the s-video on the TV and choose the right channel.
Press the FN + F5 several times until you get a picture on the TV.

Please note; Don t start the DVD software like DVD win until you have not enabled on TV!

    Hello

I suggest the following: recover your machine and update tools and drivers again. I don't know if McAfee is the cause of your problem, but if a system is broken on the software side, then, among the most popular and useful actions is to restore the system, and then being happy when it works again.

Would appreciate comments on your success.

    Hello

You said that you have installed the Vista still have you used the Toshiba Recovery DVD?
If Yes, then the sound must be available, because the Toshiba disk contains all the necessary drivers!

Satellite P100-454 belongs to the PSPADE series.
It s a European series of notebook and the drivers are placed on the page of Toshiba Europe.
    There's a Conexant 4.8.0.0.12.14 audio driver
    Have you used this driver?

    Hello Joel

I heard that Toshiba will start notebook with Windows Vista at the end of January 2007. Perhaps the United Kingdom will be starts earlier (perhaps it is also a country, I put t know exactly).

As you know Vista comes with several different versions, but it will be preinstalled on P100, no one can tell you with certainty.

  • Satellite P100-160 - burning Vista CD/DVD very slow

I have a brand new P100-160. The dvd/cd drive integrated in Vista takes 4 hours to burn 400 MB of data on a DVD.

Does anyone else have this problem?

    Hello the

Until we start our discussion can you please give me more info on things to follow:
    1 burning software you use?

  • Satellite P100-160 with sound problem

My laptop has been fixed (new motherboard) and I have some problems playing MP3 files.
Playback of MP3 by different programs (Windows media, winamp player, etc.). There are some types of 'cracks', the music is not playing fluently as it used to be.
It seems that there are some difficulties to transfer the data to the player mp3...?
Although this happens not for watching movies.

Together on the machine tests are fine, so I think it's a configuration problem.

    What can be the problem?

    Thank you.
    Chris.

    Hello

First of al, you check if the new BIOS is available.
If you use the old version of the BIOS then try to update!

In addition, you should check your audio driver! If possible update the audio driver too. (do this, but after the BIOS updated!)

    Good luck and best regards

  • Satellite P100-160 refuses to connect to my router 3Com with WPA - PSK

Help! My new laptop Toshiba refuses to connect to my router 3Com (f/w 2.06T13) model 3cWDR100A on WPA - PSK. The router only supports TKIP (no AES).

The laptop, a Satellite P100-160 is under Vista Home Premium with the latest Intel 3945 11.5.0.32 driver and I tried the version of the site Web of Toshiba version mentioned in other threads (and a few other versions also).

Either way, I don't like latest driver hit with content identical binary files and different date stamps or running of the anonymous installers that have not been digitally signed.

The problem is that non-encrypted, or WEP works perfectly, but WPA - PSK is not. It fails with a diagnostic message 'timeout for secondary keys. The thing will be very occasionally connect to the network without a timeout (before I tried to improve things with the last pilot about 1 in 20 attempts after a reboot, now it comes rather from 1 to 100). If I can be sure that the password is correct. When it connects everything is fine and stable with excellent signal until the first suspended and then the connection is lost. It's more than a little irritating.

I see several topics of doom similar networks to Vista support groups. They all seem to hinge around WPA - PSK TKIP and WiFi Intel chipset x 945 in combination with certain models of router. Please can anyone help solve this mess?

I've seen other threads of networking in Vista by users with this specific Intel chipset and my router model having exactly the same problem and so far nobody has found a solution. I checked the basics of knowledge (MS & 3Com) and tried a few plausible fixes, but nothing helped. I'm out of ideas.

It seems a little absurd to demote network security to make the latest PC works correctly. Dumping Vista (however tempting) is not an option.

Thanks for any suggestions or diagnostics.

    Kind regards
    Martin Brown

    Hello Martin

As you can see this is not Toshiba specific stuff and if there is no 'global solution' I don't really know what Toshiba should do about it. As you all know it should support hardware and software (driver), but if not I don't really see a solution for this.
Who should offer a solution? Toshiba or Intel?  :|

  • Satellite P100-160: I want a replacement for Vista to XP

I'm having so much trouble with vista which is preinstalled on my satellite p100-160. OK I was expecting a few driver problems and a few apps incompatible, but I wasn't expecting the DVD burner does not work properly and a crowd of vista questions like messaging windows refuses to delete e-mails.

I want a refund on Vista or better still for Toshiba provide a copy of XP replacement.

She can tell me who I need to contact Toshiba. Thank you

    Hi my friend

You're not alone and many other users installing WXP on laptops preinstalled Vista. Contact Toshiba won't help you at all. Don't waste your time and install your Windows on your laptop. On this forum, you can find some very interesting topics about installing Windows XP Home on Satellite P100.

If I remember well, only problem may be the use of external microphone connected to the mic port.

If you have more questions about the installation of Windows XP Home edition please write again.

  • Questions about changing OS from Vista to XP on Satellite P100-160

    Hello

I wonder if someone could help me... I don't like Windows Vista with a passion and I would much change for Windows XP.

My P100-160 provided with Windows Vista pre-installed, but until now I feel of it is poor to say the least! So I'd like to return the easy to use Windows XP.

Could you get it someone please let me know if there is something special I have to do in order to get XP to run properly. I've been reading through some of the questions on the forums on this topic, but want a nice simple step 1, step 2, etc. to ensure that I do the things first.

Thanks in advance for any assistance received.

    Best regards

    Yvonne

    Hello

You need description step by step? Come on man :)

Do everything simply if you want to install the XP. During the installation of XP, you will need to format the HARD disk, partition to install XP on the laptop.
Then, after the installation of the OS, you could install the drivers of Toshiba which can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page.

Please note that you need XP compatible drivers! As far as I know that the Satellite P100-160 belongs to the PSPAAE series. So please choose this one if you download the drivers.

In addition, you will need to install drivers in the correct order. Placed on the Toshiba page installation instructions could be very useful!

    Best regards

    Goodbye ;)

  • Satellite P100-160 - several PCI bus do not work with a shadow video BIOS

    Hello

I got my Satellite P100-160 for about five years now and have never had any problems like this before.
A few weeks ago my system did not (or something like that), so I pressed the power down button to turn it off.
Then, as he was put on, he seemed to freeze on the loading page and so I held the off button again.

The present results are when I turn it on, I get a screen telling me several bus PCI etc do not work and he says 'video occult BIOS.
I then have the option to press F1 to resume or F2 to enter setup.

In addition, one of my USB slots has completely stopped working and my card slot has also stopped working.
Can someone help me please? I'm on Windows XP, SP2.

    See you soon,.
    Liam

    Hello

I think that you need to access the BIOS (press F2 when the laptop starts up) and put its default value.
Then try to start the Vista again and press F8.
Then you will get a menu of advanced start it you should choose repair computer.
Vista supports a clean internal repair option, you should try this and must repair the operating system.

If this will not help and you still want to not be able to start a view, then a system recovery may be the best option for you

  • Satellite P100-160: problems of Vista Outlook 2007 download mail from POP3 server

I am running Vista on a Satellite P100-160 and you just install Office 2007. Initially, Outlook work very well and then changed to send only messages but not get it back. I tried to uninstall and reinstall but no improvement. I know that the server settings are very well because I can run from another machine on the same home network and download the mail.

I also have Norton security on the computer and I wonder if somehow the Port used to download mail (110) may be blocked. Someone else had this problem or any suggestions on how to fix.

As a last resort I clean the entire disk and re-install from the product recovery disc and see what happens.

    Thanks for the info.

  • Satellite P100-160, not compatible with the latest games graphics card

My laptop is the Satellite P100-160, which has a 945GM Express chipset is not able to play the latest games. I understand that the graphic card cannot be replaced. So, which eliminates this option...

Recently, another solution I've heard of is an external graphics such as the Asus XG station...
    http://www.Trustedreviews.com/graphics/News/2007/01/15/ASUS-makes-first-external-laptop-graphics-card/P1
    either this...
    http://www.coolest-gadgets.com/20070611/MSI-luxium-offers-external-graphics-solution-for-notebooks/

However these devices large need an express card slot, which I'm not sure that this laptop has even?

If it's not there ways to add to my laptop? And if not, what other options are available to me that may help my laptop to face the latest games?

    Thank you

    Richard

    Hello

The Intel graphics card is simply not powerful enough to handle the latest PC games.
You think so, why all the hardcore gamer don t buy computers laptops, but during the CPU clock and buy new graphics for PC s Office cards?

The laptop is not comparable with the desktop PC. It's just different technology according to the limitations of hardware upgrade on your laptop, you can spend only the HARD drive and RAM.
You cannot add also all other ports for laptop. It is not possible :(

  • Strange problem with order of cursor on Satellite P100-160

On my brand new laptop P100-160 with MS Vista Premium, I have an annoying error. Frequently, but without a reason, when I point the cursor on a command and press the touch screen go to the Maximum or to the Minimum size if it's to the Max, but the command is not executed. This happens on all programs, that is to say, words, Excel, games, etc.. I'm away from the United Kingdom and the store where I bought the laptop so resume the shop is not an option.

Anyone else see this fault or can anyone suggest a solution?

    "It's not a bug, it's a feature!"

Discover the taskbar when using the touchpad. There is an animated icon beside the clock touchpad. Click twice, and then on the top left device options and on the options again. There, you can spend some time and read about all the flaws of your touchpad - also how you can disable them.

    Have fun.

  • Question about the update of value added for the Satellite P100-160 package

    Hello

I got an email off the coast of Toshiba today telling me there is a value added package update available (PVAT (v1.0.25).
I downloaded and unpacked. It contains three options:
2 don't buttons, button 6, no button but there is no readme etc to tell me which version is my P100-160.

I have added, trying to install one of them gives me an error that it has already installed older versions that should be deleted everything first.

Can someone advise please that I should use?
    Thank you!

    Hi guys

Value added package contains many different Toshiba and utility tools!
Satellite P100-160 belongs to the PSPAA series! So, you should always choose this series if you want to download the drivers from the Toshiba page!
This number can be checked on the bottom of the unit.

I visited the page of the Toshiba driver and checked the details.
You will find an info that this package installs a range of important public services.
-TOSHIBA components common Driver: this module is an essential component of Windows Vista. He will have to make the other original programming TOSHIBA works correctly.
-TOSHIBA Power Saver: The energy saver controls energy by opting for optimal power settings, if the machine is connected or battery-based knowledge and based on the remaining battery power.
-TOSHIBA utility: this program allows you to customize the settings of your hardware, depending on how you work with your computer and the devices you use. To start the utility, click the Start button and select Control Panel, and select Configuration HW TOSHIBA icon.
-TOSHIBA password utility: this utility allows you to set a password that restricts access to the computer.
-TOSHIBA Flash Cards: This utility provides the Hotkey function and the function of pitcher who starts the keyboard shortcut function and sends the other TOSHIBA utilities.
    -TOSHIBA PC Di

In my opinion, if you want to update the package of value added, you must remove all the tools of this and after new reboot you must install it again

  • Re: Satellite P100-160 - failed display driver installation

    Satellite P100-160, PSPAAE, 32-bit vista.

Today, Aero is not working and not available in graphics properties. Later installed the site of Toshiba UK, 15.0.1.1114 Intel display driver. This version was actually older than my current driver but I thought that maybe she was the only availabel that it must be correct.

The driver installation failed with an error (no details don't just "year error has occurred"). Now, I don't have aero and my screen resolution cannot be set above 1280 x 800 - 1440 x 900 is expected

To say that I'm pisseed would be an understatement. Can anyone help? Thank you

    Hey,.

If Aero is not available I think that it s display driver problem

In any case, did you remove the old display driver before installing a new? Go to Device Manager > right click on the graphics card > uninstall. After the restart the display driver must be uninstalled and you can start with the display driver installation.

If you install drivers make sure you are logged in as administrator and antivirus/firewall is disabled. Reboot once again and you should be able to choose the native screen resolution now.

    Check this box!
