Satellite P100 - 400 VT technology facilitating

I need to use some features under VMWare who ask me turn on VT technology in my BIOS. He tells me that my processor is efficient, but not turned on VT (I have an Intel T7400). Has toured the BIOS and could not find such an option.

The only thing I don't really know what it does, it's something like "Execute disable bit", but I'm afraid to turn it on without knowing what it does.
Could someone explain what it does and if I can't activate VT?
I've already updated the BIOS to 4.20.

Hello

AFAIK all laptops that support VT have VT option in the BIOS. If you can't find in the BIOS settings VT technology is not supported.

I've also heard that laptops with processors compatible VT do not have VT BIOS settings but the VT is permanent activated.

Sorry, but I can't tell you more about the VT technology on Toshiba laptops.

Hi, I would like to know what is the top speed of the so-dimm this laptop (Satellite P100-400) can handle? I want to add 2 GB of RAM, I currently have 1 GB DDR2 533 mhz and I saw this OCZ SoDimm 2 GB DD2 PC2-6400 800 Mhz memory, I would like t know if they are compatible with the one I have?

Thank you in advance (sorry for my bad English...)

    Hi dude

The maximum supported memory speed depends on the speed of the FSB.
I m not 100% sure that FSB supports this device, but I guess that it s 667 MHz.

In this case, all the compatible memory modules may support max with 667 Mhz speed.
If you use the modules of 800 Mhz, max speed will remain at 667 Mhz.

However, you must use modules that support these specs: DDR2 (PC2-5300) 200 - PIN SODIMM

  • Satellite P100 - 400 (PSPA6E): display driver does not work with Vista 64 bit?

    Hello

I have a P100-400 (PSPA6E) Satellite and I just got the new version of Windows Vista x64bits. I tried this version of Vista because this series of laptops in the 64-bit processors. Well, the problem was when I downloaded the drivers to display on the site and when I'am install the installer says I'm not a Windows vista OS.

Well actually these drivers only work for Vista x32bits. And I had the same problem with the audio drivers. If Vista was running really slowly and noiselessly, perfect...

What I am asking, that is, if you realize laptops with 64 bit, why aren't you drivers that work with 64 bit systems...

    Hello

In fact 64-bit Toshiba drivers are not available at this time on the Toshiba page.
I think 64-bit drivers are not available because Toshiba doesn't provide any laptops equipped with 64-bit operating system.

But as far as I know that the new 64-bit drivers should appear both text.
I'm also looking for these drivers because I m an owner of the 64-bit version of Vista.

It seems that we have to wait but I m sure that the drivers will be available.

    Hello

just bought a Toshiba P100-400, but I have a problem with the wireless card, I think.
It disconnects after seconds of connection Wi - Fi. I have already downloaded the readers of the toshiba site, but it still does the same thing and I can't surf the web.

Is this a hardware or driver problem?

    Anyone?

    Thank you

    Hello

Similar problem was with older Intel 2200 BG WLAN card, but it is resolved with newer drivers. Please check the download page of Toshiba or Intel download page under http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=2259&lang=eng

By the way: this problem was not present with all routers. I noticed this just with a few of them. Test of connection with different WLAN routers (different manufacturers).

    Hello

As you probably do not know him Toshiba portable computers do not ship with Vista 64-bit operating system and therefore the drivers for Vista 64 bit don t exist on the Toshiba page at this time.
I hope Toshiba will publish these drivers in the near future. Let's hope

But as swordbreaker already said that you could search for and use the drivers of other pages.

Don t know what s coming, but you can try to update BIOS! But ensure that you use a good!
If the problem persists and the laptop overheats after updating the BIOS then you should really contact the ASP in your country. I presume that the guarantee is valid because the P100 is a new unit. That is why everything has to be done for free.

  • Vista for XP64 Satellite on Satellite P100-400 PSPAG

    People,

Someone else sick of Vista. I bought a new laptop Toshiba P100-400 March 31 of this year. I have now bought a copy of Windows XP 64 bit to replace.

Before you begin an installation I rang support here in Oz and they sent me to this page:

    [url href = "" http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU&from=download _driver_details & action = search & SelCategorie = 2 & selFam ily = 2 & selSeries = 152 & selProduct = 703 language = 13 & salt OS = 10 & selType = 11 & yearupload = & monthupload = & dayuploa = d & useDate = null & mode = allMachines & search = & action = arch is & macId = & country = 1 & action = search & page = 1 ""] Driver Toshiba download page [url]

I downloaded all the drivers, but now, when you try to install I find the driver Nvidia is false: said the windows version does not: probably a problem of 32 bits. I searched and downloaded, a 64-bit Nvidia driver but it says that no NVIDIA graphics card is installed. The only thing that I'm not sure is if my nvidia GeForce Go 7900 GTX or GeForce 7900 GTX card.

Can someone tell me the right drivers for XP 64 bit?

PS I tell the person that I had a copy of Windows XP 64 and not WIndows XP (32 bit).

  • Satellite P100-400: need SATA drivers to install Win XP

    Good evening

I would like to know if it is possible to give me a link with the SATA drivers for the laptop that I specified on the subject of the topic.

I ask this because I would like to change Windows XP MCE, Windows XP Professional SP2 and for that I want to format the hard drive and install the operating system.

BTW, a few days before, I checked the temperature of the processor in my laptop, and when it's 90% it loads reached temperatures as 90-100 ° c!
It this normal, so high temperature? I checked with CoreTemp, I heard it is a good software to use with Core2Duo processors...

    I'll wait for the news
    Thank you.
    Best regards.

    Hello

As far as I know that you need not all SATA drivers. Put the CD in your laptop and start the installation of the OS. With the help of facilities CD you can format the whole HARD drive and create clean partitions. After completing download and install the drivers, tools and utilities Toshiba support page. All that s!

On the temperature of the CPU, I can't tell you much, but if the laptop works well you should not be worried about it. Just make sure that the laptop is placed correctly on the desktop and aeration is free.

  • Satellite P100-400 - display driver Compatible for Windows 7

    Hello

I just installed Windows 7 rtm x 86 and I can't install the graphics driver (7900 gs)... Anyone knows of some that are compatible?
PS - I tried to install in compatibility mode, but did nothing...
    (Sry for my bad English...)

    Thank you

    Hello

Do you have which driver already tried to install?
Normally, most Vista drivers are also work on Windows 7. Then you can try the Vista driver on the Toshiba site.
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

If it doesn't work, you might get a nVidia Driver directly. But be careful with these drivers. They are not pre-tested and don t have protection against overheating. You could damage the graphics card.

  • Satellite P100 - 400 PSPA6A: How can I control the fan speed manually

    Good evening

I would like to know how can I manually control the speed of the fan?
I ask this question because my laptop rarely use the fan at a higher speed.

Today, I listened to more than the normal fan, I have check the temperatures and the CPU was Core1:95ºC Core2:99ºC
I'll clean the fan, but I want to know how can I manually control the fan (of course with the software: P)

    Kind regards.

    Hello

I guess that the Toshiba Power Saver has been installed on your laptop and you use this software from Toshiba.

If you are using Win XP and that the GST is installed, then you can check the configuration of basic settings and you might find the options to control CPU, CPU processing speed and method of cooling.

If you are using Vista, then you should check the Vista Power Options:
Check this thread how to manage Windows Vista power management features
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=38906&TSTART=0

But in most cases, the cooling modules are controlled by fan that is stored in the BIOS table.

  • Satellite P100-400: is it possible to change the graphics card?

    Hello

I would like to know if it is possible to change the graphics card? It's the nvidia Go 7900 Gs with 512 MB...
    Have the nvidia mxm?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad English

At first, I must say that your English is very good and understandable.
Back to your question: update graphic card is not possible. The graphics card is part of the motherboard and cannot be exchanged separately.

Please note that the portable is not so extensible as on desktop computers. The upgrade can be done with RAM or HARD drive very easy, but not with processor or graphics card.

  • For the Satellite P100 PSPAGA RAM question

    Hey guys

This is my first post and I couldn't find any help anywhere else about this and so I have a few questions to ask.

First of all how to find the type of ram I was wheather it's 533 mhz or 667?
As I was looking to buy 667 sticks, that would happen if I put 667 in 533 locations or vice-versar

Secondly, I rang a place asking a price on RAM and they said if I put more then 2 gigabytes on my laptop it would be and I quote "BLOW UP".
I was a bit confused when this chick said that as it says in the online manual I can have up to 4 GB in my laptop.

It would be actually the case or this chick has no idea?

As shown in the topic I have a Satellite P100 PSPAGA 014001 or p100-400 that I thought it was called: D and I currently have 2 sticks of 1gig ATM and I have only 2 memory slots

Would appreciate any help or advice that I am looking to buy and update in the coming days to 4 GB

    Hello

Check your chipset that was installed in your laptop. Then check the properties and specifications of the chipset, and you will know how much it takes care of the RAM.

    With regard to the 533 Mhz or 667 Mhz;
As Akuma already said you need to use the 533 or the 667, but I wouldn't mix the RAM modules. This could cause some compatibility problems.
