Satellite P100 - recovery disk does not work

After getting some annoying adware that I couldn't get rid of, I decided to format my hard drive and my notebook back to factory... something that I couldn't do.

First of all, I inserted the disc, and in no way I couldn't take. I tried to run on the start menu, I browsed the records and sought some sort of file that would open up the normal Wizard... etc... nothing... I rebooted to see if it would start... nothing...

I went into the setup (f2) and asked him to initialize the disk. He then says "Loading ram disk image" with a progress bar... the bar ends, the screen empties and that restarts, get to the same point and restarts continuously.

I found this thread with a guy with exactly the same problem here:

http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=17094

He described his solution, but I have no idea what he's talking about.

I got this 'product Recovery DVD-ROM' and no other discs. I can't get into windows, I can only get f2 and the parameters it and watch it to restart... I can't do anything with it at all.

Stunned by using the made recovery disc my laptop unusable as before when it was just annoying ad sites in...

Any help would be appreciated.

Alissa

Hello

I checked the link in your ad, and the other person started the laptop with the Linux Boot CD to format and delete partitions on HARD drive integers.

I recommend to do the same thing. Delete the partitions and format the drive HARD and then try to recover the laptop with the Toshiba Recovery CD supplied.

Good bye

New laptops are available with preinstalled operating system and without recovery disk but in user s manual is clearly described that you can create this preinstalled software recovery disk Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.

I m wondering really you didn't mark this option.

In any case, try to reuse this disc to see if the problem occurs again and again. If you will not be able to install the original recovery image I recommend you contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.

The files transferred to the laptop, but once done, I get an error message that says: "the system is not fully installed. Please run Setup again."

    Hello

What is the installation using another CD; That is to say the Microsoft Windows XP disk?
    Have you tried that?

In my opinion, this would help to pinpoint the problem
The error message can be linked to different issues; I mean the HARD drive or a single partition problem could also be possible.

Try to format the drive HARD whole again. Delete all partitions from the HARD drive and check if you can proceed with the installation.

But if you will not be able to install the OS by using the recovery disk and other disks then a question must relate to a part of the material. (possibly HDD)

  • Satellite A30 - 203 - recovery disk does not work

    Hi all

I have an old Satellite A30-203 and have a problem. I tried to format my laptop but the product recovery cd does not seem to work in deletion the data on my disk, its becomes blocked during loading files of ntfs? Now I am not able to retrieve a windows session would I need a new product recovery cd and would be able to get it?

    Thank you

    Hi dimation,

It is difficult to say what is the reason of this but made is either it s a laptop problem itself or the recovery disc (e.g. scratches) causes this problem.

In my opinion the best way to check this using a Microsoft Windows disk. If the installation completed successfully, you need a new recovery disk. As a result, you can ask a service provider authorized in your country! :)

On this virtual path, it is not easy to offer the exact diagnosis, but of course, there must be a problem with the HARD drive. Can you get a second one for test purposes and exchange it. Just to be sure if the HDD is troublemaker.

    But there is something else:
    > I made a Windows 7 recovery disk using my other computer acer laptop...
Sorry, but I don t understand this. Can you please explain what you did exactly?

    Hello

Have you tested if the laptop would start using another bootable Linux Live CD, WinPE or Win XP disc?
Please check that would help determine if the problem is related to the computer laptop or recovery disk.

Please also check if the HARD drive is ok. For this test, you can use a test called Drive Fitness Test free HARD drive tool. Google for it.

However, it could also be a defective recovery disc and in this case, you should get in touch with the guys where you ordered this drive may be you need a replacement.

    Hello

The recovery procedure is not difficult.
Just try to boot from the recovery CD or DVD and follow the Guide on the screen line.

Your problem is very strange. You have created all the partitions on the HARD drive?
I put really t know why your recovery CD doesn't work properly, but I think you should try to completely format the disk (also partitions), then try to boot from the recovery CD.

Don't forget that the laptop is in the boot mode. (don t mix the standby or hibernation mode)

    Hi Qazam

How did you test the remote control?
What do you mean who does not? Some functions does not work or a complete remote control cannot be used?

I read the user manual and it seems that the remote will work under Windows mode with WinDVD or Express Media player, and Windows Media Player when the laptop was not started in the Windows operating system.

    Hi, Nick:

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience in troubleshooting these special software installations.

We should expect to download and install.

If they are not, I have no tricks up my sleeve for you to try.

I recommend starting a new thread describing your questions with this software and hope that someone else in the support forum can help you with these items.

  • Satellite P100 - 160 PSPAAE - recovery disk does not work

    Hello

My problem is that when I used the restore disk provided with the laptop it froze the computer when he was to "expand our files (0%). »
I thought that drive was defective, so bought a new drive of Toshiba (£30) but get the same error.
Machine is now starts rained because the recovery disks erased the hard drive before freezing.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Hello

To be honest, this is the first time I see this error
I doubt that the recovery disk is defective or the drive HARD because as you say it was possible to install Win XP on this laptop

I would recommend formatting the HARD drive again to erase all partitions and format the HARD drive using the Win XP disc. Then take the recovery disk and try to reinstall the new Vista operating system

    > NB. If I restart the laptop start date and shows BOOTMGR is missing Ctrl Alt Del to restart...

Hmm... for me, it seems that the laptop does not start from the disc (DVD), but it attempts to boot from the HARD drive...

In any case, have you tried to boot from another disk; for example, Win XP, Linux Live CD?
To do this, and check if it is possible... If Yes, format the HARD drive and try to boot from the recovery again disc!

PS: Have you tried a HARD drive recovery option?
Turn on the unit, press F8 and choose fix my computer
After that, select Toshiba HDD recovery option if possible.
