Satellite P105-S6114 - gray line vertically on the screen

Hello

I'm new to the forum so please excuse me if I look like a novice (because I am).
I have a Toshiba P105-S6114 that suddenly developed a gray vertical line about 1 inch wide and about 3 inches from the right side of the screen. It seems that if it is washed out. You can not see on white screens but is very sensitive to all other colors. It appears when you start the laptop to search on the net, I think while it is on the screen. What is the screen? or something escapes me?

Please correct me for false assumptions in my post.

I started pricing new screens. Locally for installing I got a quote of less than $500.00. I saw on ebay (new) about $280.00 aus replacement screens. Installation I expect about $100.00. If someone knows a cheaper solution, I would be very happy to hear it.

I saw a screen for a P105-s6062 that appears from the PDF file to be identical to the S6114. It is second hand, but sounds like a viable option. Does anyone know if the screens are identical, including the connections?

Someone at - it any other suggestions? I'd be happy to hear from someone as the laptop itself is large and I don't really want to get rid of it.

> It appears when starting the laptop to search on the net, I think while it is on the screen. What is the screen? or something escapes me?
It might be the screen of laptops, but it could also be a malfunction of the graphics card.
If you first need to know what's exactly wrong.

In your case, I recommend you to connect a second external monitor to the laptop.
Then check if the same vertical lines appears also on external monitor.

If the same could not be visible on the other display, the chances are high that a graphics card is malfunctioning.

In this case a replacement of the motherboard would be necessary and this would be a costly affair!

Anyway, in both cases, I would recommend contacting the ASP in your country.

Good bye

  • Satellite P100 - thin yellow line appears on the screen

    Hello world.

    I have a Toshiba Satellite P100, 3 years ago.
    Recently appeared on my screen an intermittent thin vertical yellow line.

    Nothing serious, but very annoying, especially when I play or watch movies.
    I just found that it is not a software problem, but a material one (I've connected the laptop with my TV and there is no yellow line shown on the screens).

    So I guess there is something wrong with the LCD of my Satellite.

    You think it's interesting to try to fix this? What can I do?

    Thank you

    Hello

    > So I guess there is something wrong with the LCD of my Satellite.
    Maybe

    Always is that those issues could be related to a defective LCD screen or graphics chip
    But given that this line is not visible on the TV or external monitor this could be an internal screen problem and not a problem of graphics chip

    > You think it is worth trying to fix this? What can I do?
    Well, a laptop screen is not a party so inexpensively.
    It costs about 300-350 Euros and I wouldn't try to replace it if the warranty is no longer valid

  • Satellite A100-683: small lines running through the screen

    Hello

    I bought my Toshiba A100-683 for a month.
    The problem is that I sometimes see small grayish lines that passes through the LCD from the top to the bottom.
    This is are the type of lines u see also when you use your camera (phone) to make a film of a monitor / lcd screen.

    I still see them and seem to appear randomly.

    I updated my video card drivers, but this does not solve the problem.

    Is anyone familiar with this problem? Or knows a solution for this before I send it for repair.

    Hello

    It's not very easy to say why these small lines are through the LCD.
    To tell a truth, I can't imagine these lines. I've never seen this show.

    However, try to update the BIOS. There should be new BIOS available that solves the problem with the blurry background on A100.

    Note: Make sure that you use the BIOS and the BIOS correct procedure.

    Hello

    Connect the external monitor and check if the same lines would be visible on 2nd screen.
    If these lines are not visible, then it means that the internal display may be defective.
    Otherwise, it might be a graphics card problem if line would appear on two screens.

  • Satellite P105-S9722 - small dark spot on the screen

    Hello

    A few days there is a 1 cm x 2 cm and a few small black/transparent stained areas appeared on my screen (17 inch WXGA TrueBrite). It's the visibility varies depending on the angle of the lid and disappears almost when it's 90 degrees or if I look at the top (it turns slightly whitish).

    I wonder if anyone had the same problem or knows what it is caused by. My laptop is still under warranty (6 months). I don't remember that the screen has been pressed or anything.

    Thanks for any advice.

    Hello

    If you encounter these problems/errors and you still have warranty then the only choice would be (in my humble OPINION for me :)) for sending the machine to the ASP for a hardwarecheckup.
    Use your warranty rather than wait until your machine drops the line ;)

    Here´s a link to an index of ASP to find the next (and closest) authorized service partner.

    Shailesh

    Hello!

    I put really know why this happened, but to be honest, in my opinion 15GB or 16GB are not enough for Vista!

    On my second Toshiba laptop running Vista, I need 30 GB for Vista installation and all my programs. I n t installed many programs, only programs that I use really (desktop, Skype, ICQ, Photoshop, AntiVir, VideoLAN, etc.) and those 30 GB are only for programs not data! I stored my documents, pictures, etc. on the second partition.

    So in my opinion you should have at least 40 GB for Vista. If this isn't the case, you must upgrade the HARD drive.

  • I have a red line vertically down the middle of the screen during playback of movies with media player on windows 7. How can I fix it?

    This happens with Windows media and windows media player classic player.  Can't we vlc and I don't get the red vertical line running down the screen.  No matter what movie I play the line is there.  But it does not appear the tile view deleted I push actually play.  When I initially opened the player, I get a blank black screen.  But once I press on play the movie starts and the red line is there.  Fast forward, rewind and pause, the line remains.  How can I solve this problem?

    Have you installed a software codec pack or video? Maybe it's the cause.

    Did you install W7 as an upgrade to Vista?

    Another source of trouble (unlikely) is an incompatible video card driver. Gruss/greetings G. Born - Articles: http://blog.borncity.com

  • the lower part of the screen has a gray as Monica covering the screen

    How can I fix a problem with my laptop screen?

    The upper part of the monitor is nomal and works very well. But the lower part of the screen has a gray as Monica covering the screen. The two sections are divided by a straight line. The laptop in this condition it is difficult to do, because the bottom of the screen is so hard to see. Any help with this condition would be appreciated. The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5868, I can't afford to buy another laptop. Please someone help!

    Hi CliffordKillen,

    What version of Windows have installed you on the laptop?

    When did you notice this problem? If this is a recent problem, follow the steps in this document to restore your computer to an earlier point.

    Follow these steps in this document to start your computer in Mode safe. Safe mode that will start the Basic programs and drivers required to start Windows. If the screen is back to normal in safe mode, it lets us know that the issue is not the base drivers. We can then pass from the computer in a clean boot State. This will let us know if a software conflict is causing the problem.

    If none of these measures, you can contact Toshiba.

  • Re: Tecra S1 - weird lines appear on the screen

    I have a Tecra S1. It has the graphics card ATI Radeon 9000.

    When I turn on the strange machine lines appear on the screen... and blocks to move on the screen when you use the operating system.
    Basically, it seems very strange. I think there may be a problem with the graphics card and I was wondering if Intel has left the jury on the graphics chip on the system and if it was possible to switch to him?

    I've had the laptop hooked up to an external monitor and the same problem on screen exists, so there is no problem with the screen that I can tell.

    If anyone has any other suggestions, what could be the problem I would be interested as well.

    Thank you

    Paul.

    Hello Paul

    If the same vein occur on the external monitor, I'm sure it's because of the faulty graphics card. The graphics card is part of the motherboard and it cannot be exchanged separately. Sorry, but in this case, the entire motherboard must be exchanged.

    I'm pretty sure new costs a lot of money, but only a chance of getting is cheaper is looking for used one. Maybe you should check eBay. There you can find a lot of laptop parts for models of different laptops. Maybe you will be lucky and find mainborad for your Tecra S1.

    Good luck!

  • Center a HorizontalFieldManager vertically on the screen

    Hello world

    I have a HorizontalFieldManager in a VerticalFieldManager. The HorizontalFieldManager contains a BitmapField in a 'cell' and a GridFieldManager customized in another cell.

    I'm trying to make sure the HorizontalFieldManager is centered vertically on the screen, but have been unable to do. Most of the forum posts say "create your own Manager. I can do it, but I'm not sure that the Manager must specify to vertically Center the HorizontalFieldManager.

    Someone can push me in the right direction? Here's what I have so far:

    imageOutputField = new BitmapField();
    href = new HrefField("Synopsis", 0xffffff, 0x043184, 0x00EF3825);
    href.setChangeListener(this);

    grid.add(href);

    VerticalFieldManager vfm = new VerticalFieldManager(
        Field.USE_ALL_WIDTH | Field.USE_ALL_HEIGHT
        | VerticalFieldManager.VERTICAL_SCROLL
        | VerticalFieldManager.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR);

    horiz = new HorizontalFieldManager(DrawStyle.VCENTER);

    horiz.add(imageOutputField);
    horiz.add(grid);

    vfm.add(horiz);

    synchronized (UiApplication.getEventLock()) {
        add(horiz);
    }

    Thank you!

    Worked perfectly. In my opinion it is better this way. You create what you want inside of a Manager, and then add the Manager and after that, do the math (with getPreferredWidth/height) and set the margins.

  • Satellite P100-286 - vertical on the screen restart and constant lines

    I got this P100-286 with Nvidia Geforce Go 7900 GS and recently the laptop started to freeze options even with vertical lines on the screen tried recovery cd tried to re - install and after installation, that he started to do the same. I have read similar problems in the forum and this is a common problem with Toshiba? I have spend £1500 on this and it is only 3 years old. My friends have older laptops of this almost 6 years old and in good working condition.
    Y at - it a suggestion for this problem or a solution? The heat on the basis of the laptop is really hot and it's like that for centuries.

    Any help is really appreciated after spending so much like to last longer or it is a problem of reliability with the Toshiba brand.

    Hi vns.

    Hmm strange. I have ever read on these issues here in the forum with Satellite P100. Friend of me has the same model and it s still does work correctly, no problems at all.

    Do you have the same vertical lines on a screen? If so, it is certainly associated with the internal graphics card and not watch.
    By the way: you have the same problem in the BIOS or just Windows?

    With regard to the heat on the underside: I think that it s time to clean it and remove dust. You can do this using the jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans. That's why it of not necessary to disassemble your laptop.

  • Blue vertical line appear on the screen of the series M Satellite

    I had a blue vertical line appear on my screen its about inch thick and is at - it start, can someone tell me if I can get rid of him? Thank you.

    Hello

    If this blue line is present from the first second after turning on the laptop that I presume it's because of the faulty graphics card. To be sure try to connect an external display to see the same thing will happen. If Yes, it is the evidence that this line occurs due to faulty hardware.

  • Satellite M30: colored lines running vertically on the screen

    Hello

    Ive had a problem with the display on my satellite M30. I can start in fine etc windows but colorful lines going up and down my screen, as well as the general artifacts. I cant even install drivers nvidia without a blue screen.

    The strange thing is that if I apply pressure to the left side of my touchpad, I install the drivers and all is well! Release the pressure and the computer crashes. Ive opened the laptop and can't find anything that could be the cause.

    Any idea here?

    Maki43

    Hello

    You can check if the problem is related to the LCD or the graphics card.
    Try to connect the external monitor and check if the lines appear on the second screen.
    If the lines appear not the graphics card should be ok.

    Have you tried to install the graphics driver on the Nvidia site? These drivers are not designed for use on the Toshiba laptop. You must use own graphics drivers of Toshiba, because drivers support a protection against overheating.
    If the temperature rises to highest, the Toshiba drivers critical level will be decrease the performance of the graphics card.
    Other graphics drivers don t support that such function and, therefore, the graphics chip can overheat!

    In any case, I think that also the technician must check the laptop
