Satellite P20-404: WLAN is not working

I wanted to use the adapter wireless network for the first time after a defekt disc and a reinstall. It worked before, but I did not reinstall WLAN right here. Now I don't know how to install it. There is no entry in the network connections that could be my wireless network adapter.

There should be a built-in Atheros adapter.
I activated the WLAN-> no light beside the symbol WLAN;
I FnF8 Switched-> nothing happens, I don't see any unknown hardware in the hardware list.

Are there opportunities that I don't have a hardware problem?

Hello

Are you sure that the WLan worked, before your changed the HARD drive and installed the operating system again?
I found information that the WLan is optional on Satellite P20-404.
So I think that some units have been delivered with the wireless network card and others did not.

It of very strange that the WLan card is not recognized in Device Manager. Usually, if the WLan driver is not installed on the operating system for the wireless network card must be shown as an unknown device.

I think in your case it s something wrong with the wireless network card or WLan card is not installed.

Edit: in the Device Manager, NETWORK CONTROLLER is not installed, but I can't find that anywhere and I can't find any Wi - Fi network!

Which Windows version have you installed on your laptop satellite?

  • Satellite Pro M30 - WLan does not work

My Satellite Pro M30 laptop is about 5 years old and is a refurb. Until yesterday, my wireless connection was very good. Although my wireless connection is running with high speed and it is connected, I now cant get on the internet without using the ethernet cable.

It is certainly a problem with the laptop itself.
A framework has changed (perhaps with a function key?) or the internel wireless card packed.

Can anyone suggest anything I can try with the laptop first before you buy an external wireless card?

    Thank you.

I don't think there is that you can do.

The wireless network card appears correctly in Device Manager.
Make sure that the wireless network card is enabled correctly (FN + F8).
There may be a problem with the WLAN antenna. Who knows?

Anyway, if you can't get this to work once again use small USB WLAN adapter and be happy.
To be honest, is not bad idea because new USB WLAN glue can work with G WLAN or even N. The original WLAN card in your notebook is, I guess, old A/b.

  • Satellite L40-143 - WLAN does not work with the new router

WLAN on my Satellite L40-143 does not work since I Modem Alice-1121.

    Who can help me, please!

    Hi kenny_21,

If you have a new WLAN router you must change the configuration that I think

The new router is visible under WLAN connections and can connect?

If so try to connect. The standard router password can be found in the manual of it and no doubt, there will be new addresses MAC first before connect you. I put t know the exact configuration.

Also check the options the WIRELESS card with TCP/IP. Usually, you need automatic IP addresses.

    Hello

This means that you need a WLan driver or what do you exactly by wifi does not work?

Do you know what WLan card you have exactly?
You could install the hardware like Everest Home Edition diagnostic tool which would provide information on the WiFi chip.

PS: Here are all of the WLan drivers:

  • Satellite P20-102 - receiver remote not working do not after running recovery CD

    Hello

I am running Windows Media Center Edition and on my laptop Satellite P20-102.

I recently needed to run the recovery CD, the process went well except that my box of external remote control receiver provided with my laptop no longer works.

The box works with XP Media Center Edition and the remote control before I ran the recovery CD. The receiver is detected and installed on the computer when it is connected and recognized in device like a USB Serial Converter Manager. The inner light flashes about 4 seconds. When you press a button on the remote control light both in the housing of the remote control receiver if it receives the signal.

I guess it's a software problem, I can't find any information on the installation of the receiver or all the drivers for it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Hi Paul

I also P20 but unfortunately without MCE. I can't give you any help, but in my opinion, you should try to contact Toshiba hotline in your country. Maybe it's possible that one phone call can help you manage this matter in the right direction.

  • Satellite P20 PSP26C - touchpad does not work

    Hello...

My touchpad P20 went down all of a sudden. I've tried everything. Fn + F9 key does not work when I try it will stop the computer.

I reinstalled the driver several times. I've had enough, so I work with a USB mouse.

Anyone know how I can retrieve my touchpad. (ALPS)

    Thank you

    Hello

Eventually he s a hardware malfunction?

But before that we will offer you a defect of the touchpad, you must reinstall the laptop with the Toshiba Recovery CD delivered to check if this problem could be linked to the software error!

Usually after installing the recovery CD the laptop will be put back to the factory settings and the whole system should work fine.
But if this doesn't help then the material could be really defective and a replacement is necessary!

    So check that out!

  • Satellite M40-110: WLan is not working properly after sleep mode

Hello, I have a M40-110. I have some problems with my wireless adapter. After I closed the screen (bed) and the computer goes into sleep mode, I open the computer screen becomes active, but this time the wireless adapter is not working properly and I can't connect to Internet with my wireless adapter. Sometimes, it seems that the wireless adapter has established a connection, but I can't send and receive data from the Internet. Sometimes after this case, the wireless adapter becomes invalid.

My Service offered to enable the bios wake-up-on-lan option. After doing this, the Internet worked properly.
But I am wary about this option:

    (1) not allowing this option cause draining my battery quickly?
    (2) this option doesn't make that hides my hardware failure (wireless card) and it is really necessary to solve this problem?

    Thank you
    Sinan.

    Cool, thanks for the info

  • Satellite C875-100 - WLan does not work after the victory 8 upgrade - no driver

I bought a toshiba satellite c875-100 yesterday and I did the upgrade of windows 8.
Before the upgrade of the network wireless connector worked well, after the upgrade, he doesn't.

Device Manager showed that my network connector driver was not installed.
I tried all the drivers of toshiba online for this specific model with the name 'Wireless' in it and later on al the drivers for this particular model, but every time I get the message that the Device Manager cannot find the appropriate driver.

Adesperate attempt I have just tried to choose a driver from the list of windows itself (I choose the realtek PCI wireless network card) but who gave a sudden stop of the system.

Anyone have a suggestion how to get my network controller to work?
If not, is it possible to revert to the version of windows 7, which was already installed?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi mate

As I m wrong not the laptop does support RTL8723AE Realtek Wlan card.
You need the driver that would exactly support the RTL8723AE WLan chip

  • Satellite A300-1MC - WLan is not working - no network controller

    Just bought Satellite A300-1MC.
It does not recognize Netgear wireless network (even with 'walk' "and switch alt F8 active), or a BT HomeHub network (is not 'see' their at all).

To check device manager... can not see that there is no installed... wireless driver no wireless card doesn't seem to be listed. (Network controller has a yellow exclaim question). Network card installed is REALTEK RTL8102E PCI... which I think takes care of the wired ethernet connection).

Any ideas how to get operating a wi - fi connection? (I have "worked around" the issue of a Wi - Fi connection using a card spare provided by NetGear USB, but I would get the internal card to work.)

Should I have the software for the network controller? If so, what & where I get it? Or a driver for the card Wi - Fi internal? If yes what is it and where to get them?

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thank you very much

    John H

    Hello

Well, I think you mixed with something.
The LAN card is Realtek but the WLan card comes from Intel!

So if you wifi card doesn't work I recommend that you download the WLan driver from this page:
    http://195.182.196.33/WLAN/?page=downloads

Here you choose the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945/4965/5100/5300 driver that should work for sure.

    Good bye

An Atheros Wlan card installed on this laptop?
    If Yes, then it s a wireless network I / F Chip IAtheros that support a 802.11ag network (XB62L)
If you want to use the Mandriva Linux WiFi card you need a Linux driver that supports the above chip.
Unfortunately, there is no other solution.
But on the Toshiba page, you will find the linux drivers. It s simply not taken official in charge ;(

  • Satellite Pro L10: WLan does not work with Vista

    Hi all

Have tried to get the WIFI adapter works on Vista, have downloaded the latest drivers but still no joy.

I know it works because I have a dual operating system: XP & Vista.

    All ideas,

    Thank you

What do you mean exactly by still no joy? Have you installed the right driver WLan and has been the WLan card recognized in the Device Manager?

I think the laptop is using wireless Mini-PCI Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network card.
In order to check again if a good driver was used.

Please don t be angry with me, but it is a book of 5 years and I m sure that it s not Vista capable of course you can install Vista on this unit but it of not impossible that some devices would not 100% compatible.

  • Satellite M70-394: WLan does not work after wake up from sleep mode

    Hi all...

I have a problem with my WLan connection and hope that one of you may be able to help. From my computer is turned off, it is not a problem with the WIFI connection but if I put the computer to sleep by closing the lid and then restarting it from there the led lights up briefly to wi fi but then and is the only way I can connect via a cable.

Any suggestion would be appreciated gratefully.

    Hello

What happen exactly when you open the lid? Generally, the WLAN light should be on and after 20 or 30 seconds, the WIFI network should work again.

I recommend you to check the FN + F8 key combination to see if WIFI is always enabled. Alternatively, you can try to install the latest version of the WLAN driver.

  • Satellite Pro L550 - WLAN does not work after Installation Win 7/64 Pro News

    Hello

I installed a true Win 7 / 64 professional version full on my Satellite Pro L550-199, PSLW9E. Now, I can't turn on my WLAN. There is no such thing as the large buttons-FN. I tried a lot of driver, that I found on the Toshiba Support page.
Whitch is the right, or Win 7 / 64 professional not supported with WLAN?
How can I pass on WLAN without the FN key?

    Lenny

    Hello

To activate the WLan, you need to install the Wlan driver first.
The wireless network card is recognized correctly in the Device Manager?
Otherwise, install the WLan driver compatible; As much as I know the WLan card is Realtek RTL8191SE 802.11bgn

Then once the Wlan card is recognized correctly, you must install the VAP (value added package) and Flash Cards support utility!
These two tools are required to operate the FN keys and switch WLan using Fn + F8!
