Satellite P200 - 17 c: Question about tools Toshiba and Vista's Windows HotStart

Hello

I just bought the Toshiba Notebook Satellie P200 - 17 c and I have a couple of questions which I hope you can answer in this forum?

http://UK.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/JSP/productPage.do?service=UK&PRODUCT_ID=132332&Toshib aShop = true

1. under "Bundled software" at the link above, it says that the 'Toshiba value added"is included, but I do not see this CD/DVD in the box. (My Equium L10 was a value added CD in the box).

The Toshiba user manual
Norton Internet Security 2007 (including updates of free Internet for 90 days)
Ulead DVD MovieWriter for TOSHIBA
* Toshiba value added package *.
Supervisor password utility
Toshiba Assist
Toshiba Speech System
Chicony Camera Assistant Software
Toshiba DVD player
Microsoft Works 8.5 (with Office home and Student 2007 trial version)
Toshiba Disc Creator
Connectivity doctor
ConfigFree

Why is the Value Added Package not included and what exactly is included on the CD/DVD for the P200 - 17 c? I'm not too sure if I have all this either. I.e. ConfigFree, connectivity, Toshiba Assist etc doctor, but I check over the next hours and after return.

2. under "Features", he mentions:

* Microsoft Windows HotStart for instant-on entertainment *.

But I don't see any reference to this in the manual of the owner and its operation. Can anyone help here please?

3. what CD/DVD writing software is included? I'm looking for something like Roxio or Nero, utilities that I can use to create data and discs with audio and also, burn ISO files, but I see is Toshiba DiskcCreator.

I have no doubt that I'll have a few more questions once I have a good look around the laptop and will post back, but is it for now.

I would appreciate a response from someone, but as a direct comparison, especially those of the user who already have, or have purchased the P200 - 17 c.

The added value of Toshiba package is a collection of applications Toshiba unique like TOSHIBA, TOSHIBA Power Saver components common driver, utility password of TOSHIBA, TOSHIBA Flash Cards, etc.

Applications of this are already installed on the image of Toshiba which is placed on the Toshiba Recovery CD.

> Microsoft Windows HotStart for instant / entertainment
As much I know Windows Hotstart in the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system offers built-in support for launch applications directly from the system startup.
Manufacturers can take advantage of Windows HotStart to add buttons to access favourable to consumers through panels application front of the chassis.
In your case, what are the control of Toshiba for example buttons.

> What CD/DVD writing software is included?

There should be a preinstalled tool called Toshiba Disc creator.
The use of this too, you can create original audio CDs, data CDs and DVDs and backup of CD and DVD discs

Hope that clarified everything

  • Satellite L30: A few questions about the change from Vista to Win XP

My satellite L30 has Vista Home Basic preinstalled, but I decided that Vista is still a little slow & buggy and would like to change to WinXP Pro. I have 2 questions-

    1. a change to XP will extend the battery performance? (currently 1 h with no wifi I think it's pretty poor)

    2. I intend to reformat the hard drive for all the hidden partitions will be lost. If I decide to go back to Vista, at a later date I will be able to reinstall using the "upgrade" dvd that came with my computer? I think I'm wrong in saying that this dvd contains a full version of Vista, but I wonder if my serial number still working?

    Thank you

    Hello

If you bought the L30 with Vista operating system preinstalled, then I presume that you have received also the Toshiba Vista recovery CD.
The Vista on the recovery CD is already enabled and you don't need to enter keys t.

Regarding your battery question: well as you know the battery working time depends on the use of the laptop. Performance heavy on the laptop running decreases the life of the battery. It is a fact.

But you assume the Vista needs of more resources for laptop as the XP and the Vista operating system wastes more energy than other operating systems.
I think if you install XP on the laptop, you should be able to work with the battery a little longer as with Vista.

    > What should I do with a hidden partition in Windows Vista that is used for the start?
The hidden partition is needed for the repair of the system!
If something goes wrong with the system, Vista would be able to repair the system using the files from the hidden partition.
The Vista operating system creates this partition automatically during the installation of the OS!

After you change the HARD drive, just start using the Toshiba and Vista recovery disk should create the partitions and must run the installer automatically

  • A question about the methods and parameters.

Hey guys, this is my first post here. I am very new to Java and done a bit of C++ before Java. I had a question about the methods and parameters. I do not understand the methods; I know they can be repeated when it is called, but it's almost everything. I also know that a program should have a class that contains the main method. What I really, really understand on methods is what the parameters are. I know they are in parentheses and that is it. Could you explain what they are? I really appreciate it. Thanks to all in advance. Best regards, Michael

    Taking an example:
Suppose you calculate area of the rectangle you need two inputs one is the length and the width. Area = l X b, where l = length, b = width

If your method, say, calculateAreaOfRectangle (length int, int width) will be two parameters as arguments.

    System.out.println ("field of rectangle:" + calculateAreaOfRectangle (40,30);)

    public int calculateAreaOfRectangle (int length, int width) {}
    int area;
    Area = length * width;
    return of area;
    }

So if you call this method then the output will be returned in 120.

Parameters of a method are simply the input variables for the method of treatment for all calculations or something useful.

And we cannot have methods inside the main method in Java. It is in the java syntax and if you do, it will throw a syntax error.

  • Question about the interruptions and priming

    Hello

I had a few questions about the startup and interruptions in a virtualized environment

Assuming that, plenty of virtualization (no material assistance to virtualization of memory ).

1 initialization: in an ordinary PC, the boot process starts with the BIOS, to expansion ROM, back to the BIOS and MBR secondary boot record, then grub (is it) and finally the operating system. In a virtualized environment with VMM running directly on top of hardware (Native VMM), how is the initialization of the different process, as I understand it takes BIOS-> Expansion ROM - > BIOS-MBR-> other record secondary-> VMM-> OS--> applications >. Am I right on that?

2 breaks: VMM examines the source interruptions prior to the interruption, so in a multicore environment, assuming a 2 processor core, how the VMM decides on the kernel for which the interruption in intended, prior to shipment of the interruption. Interruptions are tag ID, said core ID?

    Thanks in advance

Am I right on that?

It is simplistic but essentially correct.  A metaphor would be a little better thinking that the hypervisor/vmm is an operating system, except that the process on this operating system are requests or comments OSes.  If the BIOS-> OPROM-> BIOS-> MBR-> hypervisor-> init process of the hypervisor-> reviews of fork () s operating systems.  This can become blurred by the design choices (for example Xen/Hyper-V init start a coded parent hard partition that makes hypercalls privileged to fork() guest OSes; ESXi init runs a very limited subset of applications directly on the hypervisor and ESX Classic is somewhere between these approaches).

There is a subtle distinction between "hypervisor" and "www."  The "hypervisor" is the operating system of single root (e.g. ESX) who interacts directly with the hardware and has access to everything; a hypervisor is not to be used to run virtual machines.  When we talk about a "hypervisor", the tendency is to describe something which is a BONE (although usually a minimal OS designed only to run virtual machines).  The "www" is the layer that allows a virtual machine run: it provides the interposition, virtualization and emulation services and can be plural (for example a vmm by guest operating system).  Architecture of VMware deal with these two separate components, while most other virtualization platforms merge the two.

Strictly speaking, the interruption is not transmitted to a guest operating system - receives the hypervisor (or rather the VMM it transmits to the hypervisor), the hypervisor drivers interpret the interruption (for example reading package of NIC, I/O process of HBA, the timer tick completion), then after a new appropriate break in the guest OS.

  • Satellite C50-A-571-two questions about download Toshiba drivers

Hello all, great day... How's doin?

I'm new to this forum, it is good to will here hoping finds the solution to every problem we face

My first question is: why download drivers of "http://www.toshibamea.com/" is so slow and limited or something? It never ends download, I have always the connection interrupted when trying to download a driver, are there not other mirrors or something?

    Second question:

Why are there so many useless drivers? as I put all my preferences, product type, family, model, series, and he gave me 33 pilot and some of them are not the drivers for my laptop

    I have a portable Satellite C50-A-571

    Hello and welcome

I m not an expert but I'll try to offer my responses.

    1.
As far as I know page of media you use is offered for the Middle East and Arica. I don't know where is the server placed but the download should not be problematic. In the past, I've used several times to check drivers and everything was OK. Perhaps there is a problem with your Internet connection.
Toshiba support and download page is certainly not limited and can be used whenever you want.

    2.
I ve checked the download page and found 33 results for Win7 64 bit so I assume you want to install this version of Windows.
In any case all the stuff listed are not just pilots, but also specific tools useful to Toshiba and utilities. This tools and utilities to control some useful special features as feature special keys or the HARD disk protection.

I recommend install you all of them and just have a total control on your machine. Of course if you don't like or don't need some of them they can be disabled or removed from the system.

I hope that my opinion is useful for you. If you have any other questions you are welcome.

    Hello!

    I need help or advice.

But has that that already installed windows 7 on individual A100? I would like to know the results.

    > 1. I want to install two DDR2 SO-DIMMS of 2 GB. Can you confirm that my A100 will see 2 strips of memory 2 GB (4 GB together)?
It depends on the chipset which is available on the motherboard.
For example; the A100 with Intel 945 PM Express chipset would be able to handle 4 GB of RAM.

    > 2. I think my computer can only work with windows 7 32 bit, I'm good?
No, you can also use 64 bit OS\

You can install Win 7 32 bit and 64 bit 32 bit and 64 bit drivers that you need to look in your own hands

    Hello

The European driver Toshiba page provides the drivers for Vista OS. This means that these drivers must be compatible with all versions of Vista. There should be no problem because all the Vista OS s use the same kernel!

But note; If you use the clean Vista you must also use a compatible serial for a Vista version right key. In addition, you should note that there are different sets of P200 and so good drivers for the series on the right should be choose in download form.

  • Satellite P200 1EE problems with playback HD video and USB ports

I bought the laptop Satellite P200-1EE dixons for and I'm happy with it in many ways, but the main reason I bought the 1EE P200 was because of its potential to play and edit the video high defintion.

I can't seem to play or watch video clips high definition without them being clumsy and with a frequency of images at 3 frames per second, and not the 30 frames per second, he must turn.

The clips I'm playing are some MOV files record on my camera at 1280 by 720 resolution at 30 frames per second and the two Quictkime player and Realplayer they simply are not quite smooth. Given that the laptop has a DVD player high definition and a high-end graphics card ATI HD 2600 ispecifically intentional for high defintion watch a DVD high defintion to 2040 by 1080 I do not understand why he should fight with playback relatively low resolution video files.

I would edit 720 video high definition and the speed of the processor, the speed of the bus, ram and graphics card should be enough for this high defintion video simple editing, so if he can not even play video high defintion, what chance does he have to edit video high defintion?

After only 2 days of working completely fine Vista Vista completely crushed and the computer refused to restart. I had to use the recovery disk and completely wipe the hard drive. not a good introduction to vista which, apart from that, it was very slippery. After you have installed Office 2003 it works completely fine on Vista Home premium

Does anyone have suggestions or solutions?

    Hi Daniel

To be honest you message confuses me.
The recorded movies (.mov files) are not format true high definition as in movies on HD DVD or Blue ray!

I think you need to convert these files first in a format mpeg mov or avi format and then you can try to play with ordinary players like WMP, Real player, etc.

    Here are some useful tools;

    Converts mov to mpeg
    http://www.radgametools.com/binkhcon.htm

    Convert mov to avi
    http://www.JakeLudington.com/ask_jake/20051003_convert_mov_to_avi.html

With regard to the question of the USB.
Try to remove the USB port on the Device Manager and restart the laptop. After restarting again the USB ports should be recognized again and the USB driver should be updated.
In most cases, this enables the USB flash drive.

    Hey Buddy,

As far as I know the utility power touchpad is designed only for Windows XP and not Vista or Windows 7...

Usually the touchpad off automatically when a USB mouse is connected. This option can be set in the touchpad driver. If you need to install the driver for the touchpad Synaptics and Alps Electric of Vista for your model.

After that, check the settings for the touchpad for this option!

    Hi clemensgroh,

In your case, I'll try the Vista drivers. I did the same and they worked for me. You can download the Toshiba site:

There you can get the Flash Media Driver and Touchpad driver. :)

    Hello

I was wondering if my p200 - 1 k 9 can be upgraded to the 64-bit version of Vista. I was told it will improve performance, but have been unable to find anywhere on the net, if I can indeed be upgraded or if there is no significant increase in performance to justify the cost.

I use my pc mainly for photo and video editing in Adobe production studio suite.

Thanks for your answers in advance

    Hello

Why not??? Satellite P200 - 1 K 9 belongs to the series of PSPB6E and according to the page of Toshiba Europe, all Vista 64-bit drivers are available.

But I don't think you will see a performance gain by using a 64-bit version of Vista.
To be honest, I would Setup not 64-bit because of the compatibility problems with some 3rd party applications.

I have no experience with Vista 64 bit, but with XP 64 bit version and I can tell you that I had a lot of problems with my 3rd software because it was designed for 32 bit OS.

But finally it s your own decision
