Satellite P200-1EE Possible to recover data on the HARD drive by placing it in an envelope?

P200-1EE does not start after 2 weeks off is the case during a fan installation. Is it possible to remove the hard drive, put it in an enclosure and retrieve the data it contains on another PC? Or can anyone recommend how to recover data from the comfort of my own home?

Thanks for your help

I would say that your installation of fan caused this problem in the first place. I would check your installation for loose connectors, cards not seated properly, no fan or heatsinks screws tight etc..

Everything you did everything by installing the new fan plugged the laptop. The hard disk, in my opinion, is perfectly fine. There is nothing wrong with it.

Put the suspect hard drive in an enclosed and try to access the data on another PC. You will encounter problems with administrator access to certain folders so you will need to find a way to crack in these areas.

If you had problems in the first place you probably should have this return to the place of purchase for them to watch.

I hope that for your sake you have not turned into a frisbee.

Good luck.

    Hello

You will need to back up all your personal files, etc. before executing a factory reset - an option to do this is to use the facilities available in Windows 7, as described in the guide on the link below.

Please read my writing as soon as POSSIBLE

If you n t have access to your saved data remove the laptop HARD drive, connect it to the other PC as external device and you should have access to all stored data if the HARD drive is not defective.

What you need is USB 2.0 IDE 2.5 HD enclosure disk hard drive / external case/Box.

Original title: computer MOM will not start and I need to recover the data on the hard drive.

It's an old computer and I do not know what version of Windows it was running.  I guess I need a bootdisk of exploitation, but where can I download that?  Or would it be easier to pull and make a secondary drive in my computer that I just replaced?  It works under Windows XP.

    Hello

If the old system does not start could be the hard drive. Put the hard drive in another computer as a 2nd drive and then access the files. If you use a computer XP, Vista or Windows 7, you should be able to access the files, unless the drive has failed.

You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer as a 2nd drive (better) or a USB external drive case and then save up to removable media such as CD, DVD or other USB drives. Of course a real store of the computer or the manufacturer of your system can help to recover the files.

Or you can use a boot Ubuntu CD to back up data. (This will not work if the hard disk is defective or other issues preventing the system from booting from the CD/DVD drive.)

  • Access the data on the hard drive

My hard drive on my laptop failed.  I replaced and reinstalled windows vista, but I could not access any data on the old hard drive.  I was able to install it as a backup of my desktop computer hard drive and I can see the directory structure, however, whenever I try to access the data in My Documents, I get an error G:\users\moe\documents\my is music is not accessible access is denied.  Any ideas how I can access this information, assuming that it is not a physical problem with the hard drive.  I have the password of windows I used to access the computer, but I don't know how to use it since this drive is not the one I am running windows from.  The computer that I use to access the data on the hard drive is on windows XP, if that makes a difference.

The computer tries to access the old hard drive and the old hard drive are XP.  It is a forum for Vista.  All the procedures I have on this issue are only for Vista.  You should repost your question in the right place.

Please repost your question in the Forums XP: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windowsxp where XP experts will be happy to help you to gain access.  I don't know it's just a simple issue of permissions and/or property which can be easily solved with the correct procedures.

I hope this helps.  If you later need help transfer of data to the Vista machine, then come back here and we will help you.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite L300-110 - how to recover without losing any data on the HARD drive?

    Hi all
    I have a Toshiba Satellite L300-110

The question is how can I recover my laptop with the recovery DVD without losing all the data located in the hard drive?

I confirm the information published by Luke.
The HARD drive and all other partitions should be formatted using the recovery disk.
Why? The recovery disc sets the laptop to factory settings and to this end, the HARD drive must be formatted first.

That is why it s is strongly recommended to back up the data if you want to use the recovery disk.

I bought a satellite Pro P100, and I want to change my hard drive
I have the CD restored, but I think that this will not work with a new hard drive!
What can I do to recover my windows?

    Sorry for my englich!

    Thank you

    Hey Phillipe,

Your recovery CD works on what hard drive install you in your laptop. Are the only factors affecting the hard disk of your choice: -.

    1. compatibility of the BIOS (should not be a problem with the P100 model)
This model mainly old laptop impact where the BIOS could not recognize larger drives.

    2 form factor
You should make sure that the disc you choose has the same physical dimensions as your
    existing drive.

    3 speed
Disks hard more quickly improve access times so check out 5400 and 7200 RPM. (there may be a problem
with the generation of heat so 5400 RPM is probably better than 7200)

The are no problem with Windows licenses as the license applies to the operating system itself and not on the hard disk on which it is installed.

  • Satellite P200 - cannot install XP due to lack of HARD drive

    Hello...

I have the Toshiba Satellite P200, with Windows Vista home edition.
    I want to remove and install win XP but I have the problem;
I can t install windows xp. I have this message: Setup doesn't detect any hard disk...

A friend tell me what s due to the update of the Bios, but I can t solve the problem

    Please help me

    Thank you

    Hello

First of all you shouldn't t believe everything say this as some computer beginners.
It s NOT a BIOS issue.

Your HARD drive is not visible during the installation of Win XP because the SATA driver was not included!
The laptop supports the SATA controller and a SATA driver must be included in Win XP to recognize the HARD drive!

But I don t want to write the whole story again that this issue has been addressed 1000 times here in the forum. I recommend this forum a little bit and search for similar topics regarding the installation of Win XP.

A hint; Intel Storage Manager contains the SATA driver ;)

Original title: Using a laptop as a hard drive...

On a MAC, I can plug my laptop into my office with a firewire port to access the hard drive on the laptop without the OS being ran on the laptop.  Windows Vista has such a thing?  If so, how do you go?  The hard drive on my Windows laptop fails and we want to try and recover the data, by hooking it to a desktop as shown above with the MACs.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello

"There is no way to access the hard drive when there is no operating system and if the hard drive is connected terribly."

However, you can remove the hard drive from the laptop and connect it to the office with a case of hard disk that comes with the USB cable.

  • Qosmio G35-650 - do I lose my data on the HARD drive?

Ok. I tried everything to repair an installation of XP on my Qosmio G35-650.
The recovery disk was a joke and would not work... I decided to skip all the DMI troublemakers, I read and clean install a copy of XP.

Put drivers Raid on a diskette and proceeded with the installation. The installer would not install on the boot partition and gave me an error "page_fault. I went into the bios and changed disk to JBOD RAID 0, disk 1 has already been set to JBOD.
Entered again the program installation and the place where you select the partition to install only a single partition has been demonstrated.

It wasn't a good thing I backed up all my data from drive C: (disk 0) to drive F: (disc 1).
I went to the BIOS and reset the drive on Raid 0 and started the installation again.
Two partitions have been showing this time but 1 disk did not show a drive F: indicator.

The question. Have I lost all my data on the second drive of 100 GB in the system?
    My F: drive is recoverable?

    Help!

If you change the RAID settings, it will wipe the data. Generally, all systems RAID wipe data when they are created.

But you can have a chance to recover most of the data. There are data programs/recovery utilities that analyzes the HARD disk for the file fragments and attempt to recover your files (at least the files that have not yet been overwritten). Google search for "recovery data drive hard format»

Why don't you use the recovery disk? If the instrument is incorrect, you can simply download a DMI tool to update the name of the product "Qosmio G35" or "Qosmio G30".
The tool can be found on the site of Toshiba America.

  • Satellite Pro P100 PSPAHE: How can I replace the HARD drive

I have not found any documentation about the replacement of the engine on my Satellite Pro 100 PSPAHE.
How can I physically remove the disk?
And my Device Manager indicates that the drive is a Fujtsu MHV2200BT PL ATA. What, PL, sounds like parallel - I thought it was a SATA drive.

    Hello

This laptop was equipped certainly SATA HDD :)
If you want to upgrade to a larger HARD drive and a SATA HDD is right!

The slot in the HARD drive seems to be placed at the bottom of the unit near the edge of the laptop.
To remove the disc HARD turn the computer upside down.
Loosen the 2 screws and remove the cover of the HARD drive during the liberation of the locks.
Remove the HARD drive cable connector HARD drive. Be sure to not reach
damage to the connector. Place the mounting of the HARD drive on a flat surface and remove the 4 screws.
Then drive HARD is free one may be replaced by a new one.

  • Need to retrieve the BONES but do not have the habit of losing data on the HARD drive

    Dear all!

For long time now, I tried to disable a Trojan horse or a worm, on my Windows XP Home (Home!) i.e. get rid of the cftmon_.exe, when I decided to follow the instructions from Symantec and pieces manually deleted from the register, I guess she was part USERINIT (turn off the system before restore and put on after the deletion).

It can be as well as I did not right, something after the fact that I have would be to end the session at the time the logon process has started. This is relatively known issue here, with different options.

-J' need to keep the data on two HARD drives.
    -I have no other partitions.
-I don't know what I've got on one of them, which I could use to free space Recovery Expert mode.

    a. the fact that I want to take the option with Toshiba, which is Expert mode (http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2513&tstart=125) as a last recovery, DVDs on

    b. I have trouble with the installation of the Recovery Console (with Windows XP (Professional!) original CD, 'R' for 'fix), but I would get the message "Setup has not found hard disk units installed in your computer"...
I understand that I would need to install the driver RAID (http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=20093&messageID=73758) but I'm afraid that this may delete the data on the disc.

    My questions are the following:

1 install the RAID driver (downloaded from the Toshiba off site web http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/updates/raid-drv/raid-drv-qog20-xp-1380.zip and installed on the floppy drive I guess) so we hope to install the Recovery Console, and do the rest of the work, make data disappear my 2 (remove) HARD drives?

    2. If I use Toshiba Recovery DVD, Expert mode that is finally what is the size of partition should be recorded for the mirror on the half vacuum 1.HDD?, should I partition 2 HDD, after it backup and count data will be lost? Choose any setings special during the process, apart from those mentioned in the link above? What should I do after wards? The registry damaged when you logged in and how can I build? I will be able to use personal and archive data from Microsoft Outlook?

    3. is there a alternative with UBCD4Win and UBCD? What is the best? What is the procedure of after the start of the CD after reboot? How to copy/repair the userinit files?

I'm sorry for the load of information, but I am pretty stuck. All the necessary data for my normal life are buried here!

A big thank you JohnnyS, tw, Quad, Eldorado and many others!

    See you soon!

    Hi friend

I would like to respond on comments like yours, it s a good exercise for my work and my s really cool to have a few topics which will help all the people here.

JohnnyS is a friend of mine who works with me at our office and we talked a bit about your problem.
If his opinion is to use the UBCD4Win and work with this option.

    The advice from him were:

Take a USB - HDD enclosure and put a disk in it and start with UBCD4Win. Copy any important data in a folder on the external HARD drive, then remove the uneeded data on this subject. Only important data!
Make a backup of your data on the external hard drive for two HDD´s I hope that you have enough free space.

Format the drive in your machine and get it back. Install the system as usual on your first HARD drive.
    Then put the data anywhere.

So I don't know if I have it just ask, a little more explanation would be useful. I think that this is a long thread. ;)

    Welcome them

    Hello

It of difficult to say what might be wrong here but if the question appears only using the second partition, then I recommend to check the State of the HARD drive.
I use a very good freeware tool called Drive Fitness Test.
Use google to download this software.

It creates a boot disk that allows you to test the drive HARD and of course the two partitions.
If the error would be detected, then it means that the HARD drive failure could be the reason for this
