Satellite P200 pspb6 - Downgrade from Vista to XP - how to proceed?

First of all sorry for the mistake I'm french.

I want to downgrade my laptop, a satellite P200 pspb6 of windows vista to xp.
I put in the CD ISO of xp sp3. I changed the boot order to put the cd drive first.

But after that it doesn't work, my operating system windows vista itself lunch without taking into account the boot order.
It's the same thing when I try to install Linux Ubuntu.

However, when I put the CD in the system restore Toshiba giving it works.

could someone help me?

Hello

For me it sounds a little like the CD/DVD drive didn't read the disc.
Have you tried to use a MS Windows XP CD?
You can install Win XP using this disc?

Just a hint; the needs of P200 a installation of additional SATA drivers this means that the drivers SATA (places in the Intel Storage Manager) must be installed using a USB FDD drive or you could use a software free nLite that would allows allows you to create a new disk Win XP with SATA drivers.

Heya I write about the downgrade from Vista to XP.

I play world of warcraft online game, I think that my laptop is good enough to run it, but I get little FPS (Frames Per Second) I do belive Vista drains your computer and is no friendly case like performance than XP. I have Vista Home Premium, I was trolling internet reading how to etc... Some forums said that some manufacturers of computer/laptop can provide a Vista 2 XP disks. I was wondering does toshiba? If this is not the case, how it would be difficult to downgrade from Vista? Is there a risk of bricking my laptop? could u do a list of things that I would need and a guide step by step on how downgrade but remembering I'm not a computer very know how nobody so keep it very basic =)
Also - what is void your warranty? I would be able to send my laptop for toshiba and they do?

    Hello!

Downgrade from Vista to XP isn't very difficult and it should be possible that you can do yourself.

You need at least one drive in Microsoft Windows XP with SP2. Boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen. But you need the SATA drivers, the computer can recognize the HARD drive. For drivers, you need Intel Storage Manager, which can be downloaded on the site of Toshiba and this is workaround step by step how to do this:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD9401AN0000R01.htm

If you have installed XP, you must install all the drivers and tools for this. All what you need you can find on the Toshiba site:

  • Satellite L300D - cannot downgrade from Vista to XP

Yes, I realize that Vista to XP is technically a downgrade but in my current situation, its nothing but an upgrade.

Right, I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L300D-PSLC8A.

I ve only had it for 3 months now and I've experienced various problems with it, the DEP, on the one hand, is a real problem.

I ve had problems with my hard drive, began to really hurt at some point to the point she would have a continuous loop of repair and just wouldn t start correctly.
I had it sent back under warranty, thinking it was a hardware failure, but apparently not, blah blah, whatever.

My main problem right now is that I don't like Vista on this machine and have tried to format / install XP on it, several times, without success, using XP service pack 2, then one, then none

Each time I boot from the CD, it will start the initialization components needed to launch the formatting and installing XP, gets to the point where it says "starting windows" downstairs, and it blue screens on me, every time.

Now, I ve tried check disk, virus scans, I even got paranoid after this happening the first time and I have 3 firewall on this machine, but it's just will not work.

Any suggestions or anything like that would be very useful

    Hello!

BSOD code means you are using a wrong driver AHCI.

You integrate the AHCI driver? To the Satellite L300D, you must download the display driver package because there you can find the AHCI driver. Then, copy the drivers on an external floppy drive and load after you have started from the CD by pressing F6. Or allows you to create your own nLite installation disc and then you don't need the external floppy drive. Here you can download: [www.nliteos.com].
In addition you will find hundreds of discussions here in the forum about this audit as this!

Alternatively, you can install XP without AHCI drivers if you change the mode in the compatible BIOS. But some users here reported that the AHCI mode is faster

  • Satellite A300 - issue Downgrade from Vista to XP

    Hi all...
    IM intending to get rid of my windows Vista SP2 (32 bit) and XP SP3 (32 bit). My laptop is: [Satellite A300 - 1 G 5 | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&com.broadvis ion.session.new = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 1055589].

Now, I studied the topic before posting. When the first time I tried to install XP laptop does not recognize the CD of the OS and I failed. Later, I found a topic suggesting through the BIOS and change the HHD of ACHI to compatibility mode, so I did and it works but I have not installed yet. I have a few question reclassification process.

    1. once I have install the XP, can I put the AHCI mode? gives me a better performance (I really don't know what is ACHI!)
    2. this void my warranty?
    3. If I had a problem, the XP installation failed for some reason any and no OS on my laptop, will still be able to use the recovery DVDs to restore my laptop?
    4. now, the issue of the pilots. Here: [list of drivers Vista | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU] and here: [list of Drivers XP | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU], the question as follows:

    (A) some drivers exist in the list of drivers Vista but does NOT exist in XP driver list; as: DVD player, facial recognition, supervisor password, driver of the SRT, tiles for the mobility and WPS Library Center. What should I do?

    (B) is there a specific order to install drivers? as a driver for a device must exist before a driver to avoid conflicts or overwrite files?

    (C) there are several drivers for the same device, how to choose one? example: the Wireless Lan Driver has several companies (Realtek Semiconductor Corporation, Atheros and Intel); which I will use?

    5. is it true that Vista is better than XP mobility? will (consumption and the heat of power management) XP my laptop do suffer from heat because the laptop is already packed with vista? I mean, they tried what OS fits perfectly on the machine, unless Toshiba push just Vista people because Microsoft needs that... lol

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Hope that my questions are clear, I had something else to ask, its a matter of opinion. are there advantages of Vista on XP? I use my laptop for some games and make some 3Ds MAX, which both require a lot of RAM, Vista eats up to 1 GB of my RAM, so that XP barely fill half a GB of RAM, that is my main concern when I decided to go for XP. I'd like to hear your opinions and experience life...

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

In my opinion there is no great reason to change to Windows XP Home edition OS. Optimize Vista can also run well and stable on your laptop. I was very skeptical on Vista but now after a year of use I can work very well with it. Soon we will again have Win7 and it should work much better than Vista.

My point of view is in a hurry and do not always return to comfortable. Of course, you can do what you want and your decision is quite legitimate. I imagine that you will get better performance under Windows XP Home edition for all activities, that you do every day.

I must also say that you did the right thing to pick up some info before you start the installation of Windows XP Home edition. On this forum, you can find a lot of interesting and useful discussions.

    Back to your questions:
    1 n ° best performance, you'll have under ACHI.

    # 2 you can install what you want.

3 Yes, but only the DVD. F8 option no longer works and the image on the second partition will be useless.

    4
At the drivers, tools and utilities are not the same for Vista new and old WXP. Install available stuff. It is not enough.
B - generally YES. If you need help with this let know us.
C you know what WLAN card is in your laptop. Check Device Manager under Vista.

5 I didn't noticed any difference. Toshiba installs Windows XP Home edition for years and has good experience with this. You can use great Toshiba power saver tool in Windows XP Home edition and optimise energy consumption, cooling method and performance. In Vista, you can do the same.

Hey everybody Faizan my names and my problem is that I want to go down to XP cause I don't like vista at all

I know all the steps to downgrade to xp as to change the bios to compatibility, but there is only one problem

I just need an insurance to someone that it won't hurt my system in any way, cause I heard some friends saying to compatibility mode eats the hard disk and slows down the PC that you use a path former system of 1998.

So, in this case or its some rumors?

    * FAST response *.

    > I just need an insurance to someone that it won't hurt my system in any way, cause I heard some friends saying to compatibility mode eats the hard disk and slows down the PC that you use a path former system of 1998.

Compatibility mode means that SATA HDD controller will not work with performance SATA (faster), but this option should emulate the IDE controller.
In this case the SATA drivers would be unnecessary. But the HARD drive could run slower

    Hello

I used the search option and found many threads on the downgrade from Vista to XP on Satellite P200 PSPB0E

All Toshiba drivers are published on the European driver Toshiba page.
Of course, you won't find additional software and programs like WinDVD, etc. insofar as these software are only a part of the Toshiba recovery image and as I guess are not to free them.

An important note; you need to install XP drivers as mentioned in the installation instructions txt file. This doc is also found on the Toshiba driver page!

Then you should not get any trouble of installation.

Best regards and happy new year 2008 :D

My next question is, if I can downgrade to XP Pro I need registry XP with Mircosoft?

Also, if I do not need to register with Mircosoft XP, where can I get the registration key of?

    Hello

A downgrade from Vista to XP is possible. Why not?
But as far as I know, so you need to reinstall the full specifications but in my opinion, this isn't a problem because you have the XP Recovery disk. Just boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen.

But before that, you you should burn the Windows Vista recovery disk. How do you know this? You need to start only the Toshiba recovery disc creator and you need a blank DVD. Then the Vista recovery disk will be created, and if you want new Vista, you must start only on this disc. That s all because it contains the settings factory and if all the drivers and tools of Toshiba.

If you have installed XP you must register it on Microsoft. It is not necessary.
AFAIK, you must enter a product key. It of already on the recovery disk.

    Welcome them

    Australian model
    Place of residence current UK

Happy new year to you all. I have a problem with the adapter wireless following a downgrade from Vista to XP Pro home. Device Manager indicates that a network adapter, which is the LAN and it does not work properly.

I have two points with one exception - Ethernet controller and Modem on Bus High Definition Audio device.

I find all the major engines of the Toshiba Australia but he lists three (I think) site possible WLAN - Atheros, RealTek, and one of the other manufacturers.

I tried all three without success but am willing to acknowledge that I can have a mistake, perhaps by installing all three drivers at the same time for example.

The indicator on the front of the box portable wireless lights on or off with the hard switch setting.

I am also unable to locate the display of all available wireless netrworks, this can be a symptom of the driver is not installed.

I tried to locate the wireless card, but it doesn't seem to be accessible through the background panels, including the Panel of RAM module.

    Any ideas please?

    > I have two Articles with one exception - Ethernet controller and Modem on Bus High Definition Audio device.

The Ethernet controller is the WLAN adapter.
I guess that the WLan driver is missing and so the wireless network card does not appear under network adapters

  • Satellite L355-S7907 - how downgrade from Vista to XP?

    Hello

I recently bought the Satellite L355-S7907 and do not like Vista I want to run Windows XP Service Pack 2 on it. Now I tried several methods, first start XP from CD, it loads for a few minutes then I get the blue screen of death, by saying that I should run ' CHKDISK F.
I ran check disk and my my hard drive is fine.

The other method I've tried is partition my hard drive then when Vista is on trying to install XP on the new partition. Vista allows me to install on a partition, because "Windows on your computer is newer than the version on CD.

What should I do here? I don't like Vista and I'd love to have XP working on this laptop.

    Hello

Downgrade from Vista to XP isn t possible. Therefore, you must make a clean and new Windows XP installation. You wrote that you get a BSOD if you start from XP disc, what code BSOD is it exactly?

I guess you only need drivers SATA to install XP. Have you installed them?
In addition I recommend read the discussions here in the forum about it. You'll have hundreds of them! ;)
