Satellite P200 - removal / cutting of WebCam

Hello

I work in the offshore waters in the United Arab Emirates United & just bought a P200 - with a built-in webcam.

Unfortunately, I was not allowed to take the laptop to the large - due to not power cameras - at all. I was aware of the ban on phones with built-in cameras, but did not expect the ban to the webcam. The security police, there is not very reasonable, so I did not have anywhere when I asked how they should take me pictures of their offshore platforms with the webcam to the laptop.

My question is: would it be possible to remove the webcam & cover it with a plate- or better yet, in lieu of full coverage of the LCD screen, so that it looks as if a webcam has never been there?

I don't want to have to buy another laptop, I just transferred all software / files I need from my old Tecra for the P200 - and don't want to have to repeat the procedure.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Derek Wood

I see only one solution: contact the closest service provider authorized Toshiba and talk with them. This is the right place to ask for help. Only, they can order the new cover and remove an old including the cam. You can't do anything without the maintenance manuals.

One more thing: as you know to work well the cam software needs. If you remove the CAM system software cannot be used at all. Ask if this option is acceptable to the Security Police.

    It is maybe something wrong with the battery of laptops of s?
    How old is your laptop? Guarantee is valid?

    As far as I know, the guarantee covers the battery for one year. Then maybe you should ask and ASP in your country for a control? Maybe the battery doesn't work as it should.

    I n t have a solution to deliver you but I assume that it s associated with the software/driver of webcam.
    You should visit the European driver Toshiba page from time to time and need to check if an update is available.

    Because you have locked the built-in webcam on Satellite P200 recently ceased to theme of work and it doesn't seem to be a way to send you an email or private message then I will reply to you here.

    No I'm not despised.

    Just that it would just be nice to hear if the solutions I provided were of no help to other users suffering from the same problem in view of the fact that the response provided by the assistance of Toshiba has not remedied it.

    Hello

    On my friends P200 web cam works fantastic. The use is very simple. As far as I know the software web cam starts up automatically when the OS starts and you can see small icons in the taskbar near the clock.

    Launch webcam software you must move the mouse on the left side of the screen because it is placed hidden toolbar. By default, the toolbar is hidden. Check it please.

    If you need to restart go to start / programs / Camera Assistant Software / Camera Assistant Software

    But I don't see Camera Assistant Software from the start menu

    Yes, I have a similar problem.
    While the toolbar of the wizard opens next door left of the screen, it does nothing. It is grayed out. The camera does not work.
    I checked the Device Manager, it seems to be OK. (No yellow exclamation point and he says, the photo-appareil machine works)

  • Digital satellite P200 (PSPBGA) - footprints and the webcam will not work on Windows 7

    I use a Satellite P200 (PSPBGA) and have upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit.

    However the Toshiba Fingerprint Utility and Web Chicony Camera Assistant Software both do not work. I checked and there is no new update on the Australian site.

    Can you please help me with these two questions?

    Hey Buddy,

    I think that in this case, you can't do anything. I mean Windows 7 isn't on the market yet and at the moment there no drivers available. You can only try the Vista drivers because most of them are also work on Windows 7.

    Alternative I founded on the Toshiba page we some drivers beta Windows 7. Maybe they work:

    Hello

    Remove the battery; disconnect the power supply and leave the laptop for a while.
    Then try to start the laptop with AC power only.

    Either way, check follow document Toshiba http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ6201DK0004R01.htm

  • Procedure for starting and long stop on the Satellite P200 - 10 c

    I have a Satellite P200 - 10 c and I bought this laptop with pre-installed Vista Home Premium.
    Everything works fine, but it takes a long time for the computer to boot. Same thing with shut down and restart.
    Is this normal?

    * amaster *, it has nothing to do with the laptop - that's Vista. You would be to optimize your system.
    1. disable UAC (run msconfig on Tools choose disable UAP, where getting the message "Command completed successfully" - restart)
    2. turn off some visual effects: go to control panel / system / advanced system settings / Advanced tab / Performance settings / Visual effects (default tab) and disable the following list:
    Animate controls and elements inside windows
    Menu fade or slide into view
    ToolTip fade or slide into view
    Fading of items after clicking
    Show shadows under menus
    Show shadows under mouse pointer
    Show translucent selection rectangle
    Drag the open drop-down list boxes
    Drag the task bar buttons
    3. optimize virtual memory: first remove the existing file - control panel/system/advanced system settings/advanced/performance-settings/advanced/Virtual Memory-change... mark "No. Paging File." Reset. Then create the new paging file - Control Panel/System/advanced system settings/advanced/performance-settings/advanced/Virtual Memory-change... do fixed Page File with size equal to: amount of physical memory (RAM) + 1 GB. If you have two hard drives - best create the pagefile on no system disk. The min and max sizes of pagefile should be equal - not different.
    4 turn off System Restore. (Start / computer/properties/Advanced Settings/System Protection.) If UAC will ask you confirmation - allow)
    5. turn off the Hibernation (start programs/guest/in the context menu, choose "Run as Administrator" and in the command line write * powercfg OFF h *)
    6. cut unused services (do not turn it off completely - do, then manually run)
    7 edit the registry:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
    MenuShowDelay = 0 (default 400)
    AutoEndTasks = 1
    HungAppTimeout = 1000
    WaitToKillAppTimeout = 1000
    LowLevelHooksTimeout = 1000

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro L]
    In all three destinations: WaitToKillServiceTimeout and make 5000 (default 20000)

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\PriorityControl]
    Win32PrioritySeparation = 6 (default value 2)

    And so on and so forth... Actually-, it is a never-ending story...

  • Web on Satellite P200 camera does not work properly

    Dear Sir.

    I have Toshiba Satellite P200-144 and I have problem with my web cam.

    Although the software works properly, the error code "Please turn on the camera.
    I removed and downloaded the program, but could not able to the camera. Can you help me to do so.

    Kind regards

    Omer

    I also have this problem. You can temporarily cure by going to Device Manager and update the driver for the webcam (perhaps automatically, I always choose manual and then choose video Chicony USB 2.0 or USB webcam device). Don't forget to restart.

    I say temporarily because I find that after another reboot, the camera will stop working again. I would like to know if you have this problem too.

  • Satellite P200-1EE - Vista stuck on the homepage

    Hello

    * My Satellite P200-1EE is stuck on the progress bar Windows Vista since yesterday morning * and I'm unable to contact my office.

    I tried several solutions using the F8 key at startup.

    1 / safe mode

    2 / startup repair. "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically.

    3 / the system restore. "No restore point.

    4 / windows complete PC Restore. "No restore point.

    5 / Windows memory diagnostic tool. It is said that there is no problem of memory.

    So I am only left with the options of 'Restore the full Windows operating system' and the 'command prompt '.

    But I'm not too sure of the latter option. That's where I need your advice.

    * If I go for complete Windows restore, the entire hard drive fade or just the partition where I have windows (for example, "C:")? * I have several years of family photos on another partition (D or E) that I would not lose enough.

    Obviously, * I do not lose data or software on C:, but not personal stuff D or E.*
    Could you advise me on the best option?

    Thank you

    Paul

    > If I go for complete Windows restore, the entire hard drive fade or just the partition where I have windows (for example, "C:")? I have several years of family photos on another partition (D or E) that I would not lose enough.

    Depends on the disc that you would use if you want to use the Toshiba recovery disc, then the whole HARD disk would be formatted, including all partitions on the HARD drive.
    If you want to use the disk in Microsoft Windows Vista, you can choose which partition has been formatted and where the Vista must be installed.

    > Clearly, I do not lose data or software on C:, but not personal stuff on D or E.
    > Could you advise me on the best option?

    If you n t want to lose the data stored on the D partition and if you don t have a disc of Microsoft Vista, install the OS of Visa then I would recommend, remove the laptop HARD drive. Then plug the 2.5 SATA HDD with a USB-SATA controller then this HARD drive to another computer.
    Usually, you should be able to access the D partition and would be able to move all the data to another computer.

  • Can I build at the second disk on Satellite P200-1I4?

    Hello!

    Before all sorry for my bad English. =((

    I have a toshiba SATELLITE P200-1I4 and the question is: can I install a HDD (additional) more. Or there is only one SATA slot in this laptop? Unfortunately for laptop is not close to me now, and I can't remove the back panel and see.
    On the web site of Toshiba, I can't find any information about it.

    More information:
    SATELLITE P200-1I4
    S/N: z7269306k - M/n: PSPB3E-0J601MRU

    Thanks, and I hope that all written above is understandable. =)

    Best thing you can do is to remove the cover for the second HARD drive and see if the HARD drive connector is available.
    If this is not the case, there is no possibility to upgrade the HARD drive.

    Maybe someone on this forum has the same laptop model and can check for you.
