Satellite P200 Vista Ultimate - boot configuration data read error

I have a Toshiba Satellite P200 running Vista Ultimate.

Recently I started having a problem after restarting after the installation of vista updates. In fact, it will not start at all and gives me the following message on a black screen.

Windows could not start. A recent change in hardware or software can cause of bethe. To solve the problem:

1. Insert your windows installation disc, and then restart your computer
2. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
3. click on "repair your computer".

If you do not have this disc contact your manufacturer aministrator or the computer of the help system.

File: \Boot\BCD

Status: 0xc00014c

Info: An error occurred trying to read the boot configuration data.

The only way I can fix it to insert the recovery dvd and click on repair. This levonorgestrol only when the computer restarts after an update. If I manually turn off the computer, then on start up fine.

I don't want to put automatic offf to update more because I think they are important from the safety point of view, however, this situation is not acceptable.

Can someone please help.
I have a screenshot of the error, but have reproduced the information above.

Hello

In my opinion, there is something wrong with your mater boot (MBR) of the drive and therefore the bootloader causes an error.

Usually, you might be able to fix it using the original disk of Vista but it s really strange that this problem still occurs after the update to vista.

In my eyes, you should really check if the same problem would happen using the Toshiba factory settings and configuration.

Good luck

After pressing F1 the machine starts Windows, very well, but the error message is quite irritating, while it comes with a loud BEEP

I tried the following things so far (in that particular order):
    -Load BIOS default
-Flashed the BIOS with the latest version of the BIOS (2.80) for this type of model
-Reinstalled windows with HARD drive format

All the these did not work.

I saw the same message appearing on several places on the internet (on different laptops with a Phoenix BIOS in common), but so far I have not been able to find a working solution.

It might me a hardware problem, but all devices (vga, soiund, lan, wifi, usb, hdd) seem to work perfectly under Windows, so this does not seem the question). Another solution that is mentioned in some forums, replace the battery. But because the phone keeps time correctly I don't think it's the case either.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

The POST (power on self-test) BIOS checks and detects errors on the motherboard.
I think it has something to do with the hardware on the motherboard problem.
I doubt that you can solve this if update of the BIOS and the BIOS default settings didn't change that.

What to say; I think that the technician of the ASP should run tests to check what's wrong or what cause this I think it is question of s mobo.

OK a friend knows me to fix his laptop. Apparently what she was experiencing major problems, so he erased the disc and tried to reinstall Win Vista from disk. Will not work. My friend says he has just tried, form disassemble the computer an audit of all the parties to try ALL the different options during installation, as well as the options for the BIOS. Any ideas people? Here are the approximate specifications, because the owner has not been able to get the computer working for awhile:
4 GHz, 4 GB RAM computer Gateway laptop, 2006, Phoenix TrustedCore, and a string of other interesting info that appears on the first screen of the error:

I'm not very tech savy and I'm not the owner of the PC, so I don't know all about it so go easy on me :).

If your friend tried to reinstall Windows by using the defined gateway recovery disc (and this is the best way) and this recovery fails, the laptop has hardware problems. Disassemble laptops is a fickle business at best and while it sounds like the hardware problems started before your friend did this, it may have put the nails in the coffin of the laptop to take apart.

At this point, you can try troubleshooting hardware or your friend can take the laptop to a competent professional (not a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place). However, if the laptop has had hard use, your friend must remember that a cell of 4 years with major hardware problems probably won't be cost effective to repair.

    Hello

I think it s a display driver problem.
Try to update the graphics driver to the latest version.
If you will be late nothing on the European driver Toshiba page try to search on the site of Toshiba Canada and 3 websites of third parties such as www.omegadrivers.net or www.laptopvideo2go.com

If you will not find the latest drivers try this temporary fix.
Don t let the Windows Vista TMM to manage your multiple monitors.
Go to Task Scheduler, in the list of active tasks, find the line task TMM, turn it off - off on logon trigger (or delete - save/export task before you do), and then restart your windows. I hope it will work ;)

  • Corrupt Windows Vista boot configuration data?

    Hey there.

So, my Acer Aspire 5570 actually running Vista for a while now. I tried to have it dual boot a Linux OS, worked well, then, I received a message "corrupt boot configuration data" when I tried to boot to Vista. I googled for answers, and I was not able to find any help. The only way I can get into Vista is via a command prompt any. I did everything that he restore points, and I've never had the OS installation discs. ZORIN, the Linux OS partition works very well. Any help?

UPDATE: I think I can find something. You are not sure if it will work, but worth it, right? BTW, it starts at the Startup Repair, and I go into the advanced options or something.

UPDATE (again): looks like Zorin has replaced ALL my files in Vista, even if it was SAID NOT TO DO THAT (yes I yell at computers, problem?) I tried these links: http://www.troublefixers.com/unable-to-boot-in-windows-vista-windows-boot-configuration-data-file-is-missing-required-information/, http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ht/rebuild-bcd-store-windows.htm, http://pcsupport.about.com/od/termsl/p/logon.htm, http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/tp/recovery_console_commands.htm and http://pcsupport.about.com/od/termss/p/system-recovery-options.htm, but nothing worked. I have to buy a new version of Vista and install it? My Acer is a bit too old to upgrade, I think.

    Hello

You do not need to buy a new version of Vista, you can reinstall the version you have as often you want on this machine.

Something has gone wrong with your Dual Boot with Linux; but there is a special way to set that up, which is often mentioned in the Linux/Ubuntu Forums.

If you want to reinstall Vista again, IF this option is still available, you press LEFT Alt + F10 keys at startup and Vista is re-installed normally Acer 'hidden' partition recovery.

    http://Acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/A_ID/2631

If the dual-boot ruined who, you might ask Acer to send you recovery disks, which they used to do for a small fee.

But Acer has ceased to provide the recovery disc Vista for most, if not all of its models.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

Help, please! because the "BEEP" is now getting on my nerves!

    See you soon

    Hi andrew_net82,

It seems that the BIOS has detected an error with a certain part of material...

Before doing something I recommend you load the default settings in the BIOS. If you are in the BIOS Setup, press the F9 key.

If it doesn t work you need for professional assistance from an authorized service I think. Guys need to check which part of the material is defective and must be replaced.
List of the ASP, you can find on the official website of Toshiba.

  • Windows Boot Configuration data file is missing required information

    Hello

I am trying to boot up my laptop and the Windows Boot Manager appears saying that Windows could not start.

I have a laptop Dell Inspiron notebook, which came with Windows 7 pre-installed so I didn't have an installation disc, nor do I have a CD player.  How can I solve this problem and is it simple?  I tried to turn on my new laptop and pressing F8 but nothing happens and the windows Boot Manager appears again.  Can someone help me please, or I'll have to return someone to solve this problem for me?

  • the windows boot configuration data file does not contain a valid entry os

    Hello

I got this message when recovery... I can't get the windows... I have the CD recovery, but when I boot it... It gives me this message

the windows boot configuration data file does not contain a valid entry os

How do I solve this problem

    Hello

Assuming that it's just a problem with the recovery media, here's another solution, you can try.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( it must be the same version that originally shipped with your laptop - IE if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium, that is the file you need to download ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly file on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  The source of the Image is - Digital River.

    Images of Windows 7.

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

All pilots additional and the software you may need are located by entering your full model number or Nr here.

  • Emits Boot Configuration data.

I recently came across some problems when trying to dual boot my machine with Windows 7 and Ubuntu.

Long story short, that I ended up wiping the disk by removing all partitions and starting over.

Once the reboot my machine and tries to start up the Windows 7 installation cd I get the following error

"Unable to start Windows. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. ........

    File: EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD

    Status: 0xc000000d

Info: an error occurred trying to read the boot configuration data. »

I've tried everything I can think of, reset the cmos, went so far as to try a different hard drive, same results.

What can I do to fix this problem when I can't start the installation cd and get the command prompt to use the bootrec tool?

Frederik, thanks for your help. I realized what was causing the problem, the airport authority of bios configured to boot from UEFI instead of the legacy, switched things around and everything worked perfectly.

    Hello Daniel,.

Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community forum.

According to the description you get the error Boot Configuration data (BCD). I totally agree with you that, in order, to rebuild the Boot Configuration data (BCD) we need the installation media.

If you do not have any other computer to create the installation media, then it is best to contact the manufacturer of your computer instead to buy Windows from outside. If your computer is under warranty, they can provide you with the ERD free of charge or at minimal cost.

If you manage to organize other computers or repair disk, try the steps below. You can try to create installation media by following the steps described in the article mentioned below.

To create installation media Windows 8.1

    • Boot from the DVD of Windows 8.
    • Click repair your computer.
    • Click Troubleshooting , and then select Advanced Options.
    • Click on command prompt and type the following commands and press enter after each command:

    Bootrec /fixmbr

    Bootrec /fixboot

    Bootrec /rebuildbcd

    • Restart the computer.
    • Check if the problem persists.

Get back to us with your question was last updated. We will be more than happy to help you.
