Satellite P30: CPU going to hot

Hello

I have a Satellite P30, when I try to restore using Toshiba, Ghost Image, the computer crashes, I have to do it outside (it is below 0 ° Celsius), it is not very comfortable what should I do?

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely, James.

Hello

I agree with you. The outdoor installation is not a really nice solution.
Try to clean with vacuum cooling fans. If after this procedure, the overheating problem product if you need to contact the ASP

    Hello

The temperature of your laptops is certainly not too high!

    You need to know some important facts;
First a few 3rd party tools don t always provide values for temperature of 100%!
Second, the internal temperature is constantly changing.

Running some games, videos, or other high performance programs would lead to higher heat dissipation and a higher temperature
This is a common behavior of laptop so don t be worried that something is wrong with your laptop ;)

By the way; the laptop supports an overheating protection. It will stop automatically if the temperature is too high.
If the computer laptop doesn t turns off automatically, your CPU temp is ok.

  • Satellite P30 Power Off & color display

I have 2 intermittent problems that may indicate my laptop is endangered, but first of all, I just want to get organized? s advice on the situation.
I have a Satellite P30 145 just over a year and I'm in the United States for six months and its HOT here. The laptop turn off a few times a month before my arrival in Florida a few weeks ago, but now with the much higher time (70 - 80F inside) it shuts down a lot during the day when the processor is going strong (like a Spy Sweeper scan) and I can really only use in the evening and at night now when it's cooler. I said that this is a motherboard problem now as its gone way past being a matter of dust/fan. The laptop is raised well above my lap tray so that the 2 fans are free to do their thing. Makes no difference.

Secondly, just recently, I started having a blue tint to white areas on the screen and if it was, say, a picture, then color would suffer too. It comes and goes when I press on the area of the metal envelope just above the button "Pause" along the top of the keyboard. Again the Geeks in Best Buy today (American electronic store) said that he was bound to the motherboard.

Given these 2 boring (at best) issues and the enormous cost of a motherboard, I guess I'm really a new laptop and the fact that he is only 13 or more months is shameful.

Anyone who has ANY suggestions - apart from saying that I was a fool not to get an extended warranty?

    Hello

I will not say that you are a fool because you don t have an extended warranty, but of course the longest warranty period is very useful, and AFAIK recording of the laptop on the Web from Toshiba site would increase the 24 month warranty. (standard warranty of 12 months + 12 month after registration)

However, in my view the judgment downs problems are related to the high temperature inside the laptop. I think you should check the Toshiba power saver options. Here, you can change the cooling method and the speed of the CPU.

Second, I put t know exactly why the blue hue appears on the screen, but a similar one occurs when I slightly press the surface of the LCD screen.
I think that it s not a motherboard problem and perhaps only a small part of the Board of Directors must be replaced.

I think that you should first try to contact the ASP in your country. Guys you could give more detail than everyone here in the forum. You know that we are all of the common laptop users and technicians.

  • Satellite P30 - battery will not work correctly

    Hi all

I have a Satellite P30 for more than a year now and overall I am very satisfied with this mobile 'desktop '.
The worrying thing is that I keep the laptop high time constant to allow room for the fans. (If they get hot the laptop just turns off).

My question is about my battery about 3 months ago, the problem began, suddenly at random time my laptop can not regocnize battery which mean that even if the cable ca is in hes runnin on battery and goes so goes out after a while. I always leave the battery in the laptop when I use it because the cable ca is not quite stable more unfortunately so I need to keep a book on the cable in order to make it work.
Is it possible that I can claim a new battery or do something about the problem? It is very difficult when I'm workin and all of a sudden the light just goes and I know that I have a max of 30 min before he died.
Please let me know what I can do, thank you

    Alexander Wiegand

    Hi Alexander,.

I don't think that the problem is with your battery, it is more likely to be a bad contact on the ca cable where it plugs into your laptop. In general, the ca card makes an intermittent contact and that the power of fools management system into believing that AC power has been disconnected. It follows that the power, then transfers to battery power and it ejects then until the powers of the unit off.

I managed to solve this problem on my SA30 anchoring the power cable at the back of the laptop so that there is no constraint on the card.

With regard to the problem of overheating, computers laptop modern can generate a lot of heat and requires a lot of cooling air to keep things cool. Make sure that the cooling system is cleaned of dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner pipe placed on the intakes on a regular basis.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite P30: Energy saving does not work correctly

    Hello
I have a Toshiba Satellite P30 (with Windows XP) and I have problems with my energy saving mode. When I use it for games and other applications of high power, it gets really hot on the edge of the moitor and stops.

Is it for the last month or two. Before that, it was absolutelly no problem. I checked the file TPSTrace and got this error message:
A fatal error has occurred. The program will end. Code: 0x0 rental: MainFrm.cpp (1317)

I do not know what to do with it and how to solve the problem. Any ideas?

    Hi Thomas

It is not easy to give you an accurate diagnosis, but in my opinion your laptop isn't hot because of the energy savings. Satellite P30 is pretty old laptop and maybe you should clean your laptop.

    Have you done this before?

This error seems to be serious and what you can do is to remove the preinstalled energy saver and after restarting try installing it again.

Just FYI: Watch tool is very useful, but certainly not so important and your system can function very well without it. Because of this, I presume that portable hot is because of dust inside. With more CPU and activity hardware graphics card will be hot and must be cooled properly. If the cooling rack does not clean this cannot happen. Initially, notebook will be hot, but one day she is probably turned off without any warning.

In the first trial step to clean your laptop and remove all the dust under cooling grill.

  • Satellite P30-145: White Rectangle on screen

I have a Toshiba Satellite P30-145, and he has recently developed a problem with the display. Whenever the computer is turned on, there is a large white rectangle covering part of the screen from top to bottom.

Stopping and restarting the computer didn't help, display settings settings I tried did not work and a system restore did not work.

I think it's maybe a problem of overheating the computer often becomes very hot and sometimes stops due to overheating (even if fans don't seem to be blocked when this happens).

Anyone know what could be the problem and if it can be fixed?

    Hello

I think that the fault of the graphics card might be the problem
Maybe the GPU damaged because the temperature inside the laptop.
As you say the laptop is overheating and it is really possible that it was a reason for that matter.

In my opinion, you need to connect the laptop to the external monitor to check if the same will appear on the second screen.
If you're going to see the same rectangle on the screen then the graphics card is damage and the entire motherboard must be replaced

    Feedback would be greatly appreciated

  • Satellite P30 and Windows 2000...

Please, please, please... help me solve my nightmare!

I tried all ways to install Windows 2000 on my satellite P30. All software and drivers are updated (service pack 4, dx9, lastes drivers, etc), but...

When the installation of the white screen of graphic Ati drivers (ati 9700) appears and it crash (as shown in the previous topic: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=4136&messageID=13825#13825 - I want to reopen that walk but is locked)

The problem is that I have great experience in the software/hardware and I have installed all drivers (drivers omega, satellite m30x drivers, drivers ati, different drivers manufactured, ecc.) but the problem STILL persists.

I'm going to give up, but before that I would like to know, if someone here in this forum has solved this problem or if anyone really expert could suggest me other ways to install windows 2000 on this computer?

    Thank you!

    Hello

Nick is quite right. W2000 is not officially supported for this model of laptop, and you won't find a graphics card driver on Toshiba download site. I assume that you have installed the driver from ATI directly download site. In this case there is no guarantee that it will work properly.

    Sorry

  • Satellite P30 - blue screen after reinstalling OS

I reinstall OS (Windows XP) on my old laptop Toshiba Satellite P30, but after the first (required to continue XP Setup) restart the BLUEBACK screen appear (System has recovered from a serious error).

The laptop can not load Windows XP at all. Do you have an idea of what's going on?

    Thanks :)

    Hello

It looks like a hardware problem. You should check the RAM and HARD drive.

    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
With the Drive Fitness Test, you can test your HARD drive. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it. You can then the HARD drive.
On the same site is a user's guide if you want to know more.

    http://Memtest86.com/
Memtest86 is a diagnostic tool to check the RAM. Here, you can also download a CD image.
It s easy to use. Run the test of 3-4 hours and then you will see if the RAM has some errors.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite P30 - screen got vertical stripes

    Hello!

    Two problems:

    1. my Satellite P30 becomes a little old (bought in 2005), I know, but it works really well - a few hiccups of course.
However, the lines of different colors appear vertically on the screen. It started with a single line of a few months ago and right there are now seven (10 at the most).
The odd bit is that they appear, disappear, and reappear - some more often than others.
I find it quite strange, and I wonder if the problem is the screen itself or if it is a motherboard / other hardware or a software problem.

    2. commissioning is slow lane. Suddenly, there is (before tha line problem described above) about four months something has changed in the startup routine.
Before, when the "Welcome" message was shown, the screen became blavk for a second, and office appeared with the bar of tasks and shortcuts emediately. As usual.
But some time back the time according to 'Welcome' to the desktop was OK, changed its jst a fww seconds to THREE minutes! I checked my pc for all known problems, but nothing! What is going on? The image of the desktop appears, and then three minutes before the taskbar and icons appear.

    Can someone help me?

Best regards, Lars of the Norway

    (1) what are the lines? If these are lines of pixels, and the lines are spaced randomly, its most likely a LCD issue.

    (2) download and run BootVis. This small utility from Microsoft saves driver delays and other things during the startup.

Can someone help me find the right part?
I want to upgrade with the best 'match' to this laptop.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello!

The graphics card may not be exchanged, because it s soldered onto the motherboard.

And here's an article on upgrading the CPU/GPU of a Toshiba laptop:

  • My Satellite P30 shutdowns

    Hello

    I have a Satellite P30 since 2004 and it's good.

But for a few months, when I run many applications simultaneously, or when I run applications requiring many resources RAM or CPU (like games or a² or anti-virus full scan), the laptop stop without a signal (sound or message).

Then, when I reboot, I go to a page that ask me to choose between "without the error mode' or 'last good config' or 'normal startup '.
Usually I start normally (but the same thing happens when I choose other) but the laptop stop before the login the same way Windows page.
It could occurs 5 to 10 times before restarting the laptop properly.

For more information, this problem occurs first when I installed and Runic last game of Baphomet. But since I formatted the laptop and reinstall it properly and the problem seemed to be desapeared. But now, for 2 or 3 days, she came back.

Someone has an idea of what is my problem?

Virus? Internal temperature? Hardware problem? Do I need a BIOS update?

Thank you for your interest and sorry for my English (I'm just french!: p)

    Hello

    > Virus? Internal temperature? Hardware problem? Do I need a BIOS update?

-Virus-> I don t think that it s a Virus if you use Antivirus software that is always up to date

--> Update the BIOS does not recommend that the BIOS update because the laptop ran correctly with this BIOS all the time long.

-Hardware problem-> maybe something wrong with the HARD drive, but it is not easy to say until you buy a new HARD drive and will test it.

-Internal temperature-> probably. According to my experience the high temperature causes a lot of strange problems, and it looks like overheating. Maybe the fans are dirty with dust and debris prevents the runtime properly underway cooling. In my opinion, the fans should be cleaned. Vacuuming is a nice toy but risky because the strong suction can damage fans. Many computer stores provide sprays professional compressed air that can be used to clean the fans.

If this does not help I recommend to contact a technician phone for professional cleaning. Perhaps a new thermal grease which is placed between the CPU and cooling modules could improve the situation.

  • Satellite P30 closing

I got my 30 P for about a year now and after a game or watching a DVD for an hour it stops. After reading a lot of posts in this forum, it is clear that Toshiba laptops are prone to overheating and this is how the system protects itself from total exhaustion. Back around fans become extremely hot. The fans run and there is a lot of ground clearence so obviously, disassemble and clean. Anyone know where I can find the information that shows me how to properly clean a satellite P30 please. Last thing I want to do is to remove and then never work again. Any help would be appreciated muchly.

I use the vacuum cleaner. She sucks the dust well enough.
But the dust is not always responsible from overheating and automatically shut down.
You need to check if the computer laptop "breathe" correctly. The square around the laptop and the heat sink should be free.

I also found this useful topic: maybe it helps a bit
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=14096

You should also check the Toshiba Power Saver setting. Please check the speed of the processor cooling and cooling method

  • Satellite P30-145 will not stay

    Toshiba Satellite P30-145.

    Very well.
My laptop will charge when turned off.

As soon as I turn it on, it does not recognize that there is a power he goes and goes directly to the battery.

If I take the battery and turn it on with PC network, it will stay on for a second, then turns off.

    any ideas?

    Hello!

To me, this looks like a hardware problem. Maybe there is something wrong with the motherboard plug or power on the laptop. I put t know
I think that this should be checked by a technician of the laptop.

On the Toshiba site, you can find the nearest authorized service provider. They can help you.

  • Satellite P100-646 - goes down by itself

    Hi all,

I have some problems of temperature serious with my * Toshiba Satellite P100-646 * (T5200 @ 1.6 Ghz). The CPU seems very hot and the fan works very often.
    HWMonitor tools report a temperature never sub * 75 * ° C and can be up to * 98 * ° C.

Therefore, PC falls down by itself and I suspect thermal protection to do this.

What is the normal temperature (expected) for the * CPU T5200 * (65nm)?
Did there are a few basic operations that I could do to try to solve this problem?

    Concerning

    Hello!

I totally agree with Akuma that temperatures are too warm. Normally in "idle" mode, the temperature should be lower then 75 ° C.

On my laptop Toshiba, I noticed after 3-4 months of use it is hot and so I started to clean the laptop using a jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans. For me it worked perfectly and after that, the temperature was lower.

This air compressed spray you can buy every store of the computer normally and it s not expensive.
    Check this box!

  • Windows XP Home unable to start on Satellite P30

    Hello

    I use WinXP-H on a Satellite P30 (7 years).
The screen died earlier, so I have been using an external monitor, but it's a problem for another time.

A few days ago Windows has been updated. After all 4hours, it restarted itself - do not know if it has finished to day I was away from my office. Windows did not start, just hung on black screen boot WinXp.

I turned off with the power button, left for a while and tried to restart. The first, a few times I could access the screen "Safe Mode, last known good Config etc" with F8, but he only got to Windows once, where it froze.

At the start, only the F2 & F12 keys work now (for the blue BIOS screen and boot options). Tent to start HD causes not normal clicking noises then the "a disk error occurred. CTRL-ALT-DEL to restart message. " I tried to use the Toshiba Recovery disk, but it seems that you wipe the files left on the hard disk, even if she managed to reinstall Windows.

I had saved most of my files, but there are some that I had not succeeded in yet, so I would try to keep them. Forums, it seems that there are several possible solutions:

    1. start from the restore disc Toshiba to format the HD and maybe recover some of the files later with file recovery software.
    2. get an installation of WinXP-H disc, which seems to have a recovery program.
    3. remove the HD and connect it to another computer to delete my files. I'm not experienced by removing computers, but would give it a go, if it was the best option.

    Soon, any advice appreciated.
    Al

In my opinion the easiest way to access the HARD disk is to connect it as external drive to the other PC.
Removing the disc HARD is not so complicated that you can do it alone. If you need help with him let us know.

What you need is the external IDE HDD case. You can buy it on ebay and it is cheap.

In the end I have to say that I think that the HARD drive is faulty, maybe only some sectors do not work and thereby Windows gets stuck on some steps.

I had this old Satellite it there a long time, in red. It is a very nice machine with its fabulous. :)
