Satellite P300 (PSPC4E) - BIOS is damaged

I have some problems with my Toshiba Satellite P300 (PSPC4E).
The BIOS is damaged and I am trying to get it back.

I disconnected the battery, HDD and DVD.

I managed to create a USB startup disk using the USB HP and CrisDisk.
It was empty after I run it. I copied the three files into it, PHLASH16. EXE, Autoexec.bat and my laptops bios, named bios.wph (version 4.20).
CrisDisk using the required files are transferred automatically.
I tried plant key combinations, following the instructions of starting (USB->-> start button / stop power cord), such as the FN/WIN + B / F, FN/WIN + ESC.

When I boot with FN/WIN + B / F, it starts only upward 'normally', all the lights on and the screen remains black. USB is not flash or anything.
Using FN + ESC is another story, well that without LEDs light up, except for the power button.
The USB flashes, for a few seconds, and shortly after, the laptop starts to beep.
When I say beep, it really will beep, loud and clear that h * l! 1 long beep 2 short beeps, who will be permanently.

I left it for about 10-15 minutes, but nothing happened. The tones were really strong, so I stopped it.
I tried to make the combination of keys without connecting to USB, and it did the same thing, 1 long + 2 beeps.

So, I'm doing something wrong here?
Also, I wonder if it is possible to reduce the volume of the beeps.

Would be really grateful for any help I can get.

Hi mate

I found another thread interesting here in the forum are contiguous similar question.

Maybe you could try the workaround posted by user ale210.
But if it does not, you will need a help from a specialist like Toshiba service technician.

  • Satellite P300 PSPC4A - BIOS no updates required for Win 7?

    I have a Satellite P300 (PSPC4A-03P01P)
Currently 2 hard drives, both are partitioned.
    Disc 1 - C and D
    Disc 2 - F and G
Current operating system on the C drive is OEM Vista 32-bit HP
    BIOS version is V4.20. 05/01/09

I want to upgrade the Win - 7 HP 64-bit operating system
I know that this will require a format the C partition.

In preparation, I downloaded all the drivers for Win 7 64 bit

    My Questions:

The BIOS will require the update to support 64-bit?

If partitions D, F and G are left intact, Win-7 64-bit on the C drive will be able to read?
Or these partitions will also require formatting?

    Thanks for any help

    Hello

There is no relationship between the BIOS and the operating system. Thus, you need not upgrade Bios for Win 64 bit.

    > If partitions D, F and G are left intact, Win-7 64-bit on the C drive will be able to read?
    > Or those partitions will also require formatting?

You can install the Os on C: and it will be able to read information on other partitions too.

    Hey Buddy,

This stop code means you use a bad SATA controller driver. The installation of XP, to integrate the SATA driver for install XP. There is a lot of discussion on this issue here in the forum.

For Intel chipset, you will need to download Intel Storage Manager of Toshiba's official site and follow the instructions here to reinstall Windows with the SATA drivers:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB85017Z0000R01.htm

Solution replacement follow the instructions posted by peterk_1. Setting IDE mode instead of AHCI in the BIOS will help too :)

  • Satellite P300 - 13 X (PSPC4E-02E00JG3) - supports the SSD?

    Hello

I want to buy an SSD for my Toshiba Satellite P300 - 13 X (PSPC4E-02E00JG3). I opened the back panel and saw that he has a blank for a second hard drive.
I want to put a SSD in this space. My laptop is supports the SSDS?

    Do you think that the Kingston SSD now 100 - SV100S2N / 64G is compatible? (http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator_new/PartsInfo.asp?root=uk&LinkBack=http :// www.kingston.com/ukroot&ktcpartno=SV100S2N/64G)

    Thank you.

    Sorin

    Hey Sorin,

Satellite P300 supports already SATA interface t so I see a problem for SSDS. They have the same normal hard drives SATA interface and the same size, if you buy a 2.5.

As you can see in other threads, many users already did a SSD upgrade on different laptops models and it always worked correctly.

The Kingston drive you mentioned that you should work fine. Generally all brands SSD and HDD works there is no compatibility issues, or you must buy a certain brand. So just buy your favorite one ;)

I think that you should use the most recent version and it s a v4.83.1.0. It seems that the v4.36.10.0 was published also, but in this case, it s always recommended to take a newer version.

With regard to the system of freezing for a second or two:
I think that this might be related to some background processes. Perhaps a process that runs in the context of the Vista operating system causes this tiny interruptions.

Of my knowledge tool Tempro runs in the background and scans the system and HARD drive.
You can check the processes in MSCONFIG and if necessary may disable some of the trials.

  • Satellite P300 Bios blocks

    Hello

I have a satellite P300 laptop with vista installed on it. I wanted to install XP PRO, looked for driver, was no prob.
Got the blue screen when starting form the XP cd installation, it was due to lack of AHCI drivers for the hard disk.
So, I accessed the BIOS and changed the SATA compatibility mode... (later, I discovered that it was suggested on many forums).
But when I restart only get to see the BIOS POST in the screen saying press F2 to F12 for devices of multiple starts Setup (BIOS) or options (something like that).

Pressing F2 does not work. BIOS hangs...

So the problem is: SATA operation mode changed compatibility mode, I need to go back to AHCI, but I can no longer access the BIOS.
I tried to remove the HD, but no help.

Can I reset the BIOS settings by default the CMOS jumper or so?

    Thanks in advance...

    Friend!

    Goldie

    > Can reset the BIOS settings by default the CMOS jumper or so?
No, this can be done by a common user. Laptop motherboards are all just different like the mothers of PC desktop and only the authorized technician Toshiba could it the default Flash the BIOS again or by using the jumper (if such jumper would be available).

But you should try to remove the battery (laptops) and need to disconnect the adapter from the unit.
Wait a little (1 hour), then reconnect the two parts.
Then try to access BIOS and turn on the laptop

    Toshiba
    LED power button fix

    Toshiba
    Satellite P300-h-13

    By Thom
    Wijtenburg

First of all, I would like to
say you that I came up with this correction, after a clean reinstall of the
Vista. (I used the serial number of windows on the bottom of my laptop for)
install, so it's the same license as the OEM of windows and therefore
Tout_a_fait legal.) After the clean install and installation of all the
the drivers listed on the site of toshiba LED power button (also
known as the mute button) and the CDDVD butten (mediaplayer button)
stopped working. After browsing around forums toshiba I found
this case, I removed the support button utility that the mute button has acted as
a mute button. Also the mediaplayer button worked fine. Reinstalled
the utility support for the button and they have stopped working. After many
toshiba calls (I think about 5-6 in one day) they opened a
support ticket for me, because they (team support callcenter)
could not find a solution. Following their advice, I did the
next to try to make it work:

    * Don't have a system restore with the restore DVD.
    * Do you have an another clean install.
    * Install the drivers in various ways (alphabetically reversed by alphabetical order and order of collection DVD).
    * update my BIOS.
    * downloaded a 'new' version of value added package (which was the same thing I already had).
    * installed the VAP with and without technical support button utility, no changes.
    After doing everything
This, they said that they did not know the cause of my problem (at the beginning
they thought it was hardware related). They came with a possible
    anwer:

    "It is."
possible that we removed some features of windows vista
operating system so that our one utility for device drivers
work. In addition, we do support the configuration, that we delivered
When you bought the laptop. »

    Now of course, I have
understand that. I waited allmost a week, no response. Neither
by electronic mail, or by phone, so I decided to google more
    on the problem.

    After a certain
some research on Toshiba forum and Googling I came across
a thread that sayd I must first install the utility 'control '.
and the button press. Unfortunately what it did not work.

    Then, all of a sudden
Windows displays a message saying that I should install the TOSHIBA.
"ACPI-based value-added general use and logical device driver.
I clicked on the provided download link, and the VFR package was a newer version
version of the support page for my laptop which is held. So I downloaded
This PPV version 1.17 and installed it. After a reboot, the buttons
still did not work. But at least I got the file HWSetup.exe, where I
could turn the LED off. Look into the button holder utility, I have
saw that there where buttons like "Toshiba Assist" which my
    the laptop model is not.

    Navigation
through the toshiba forum I found a file named ButtonSettings.ini, in
which I can manually configure special keys. After a google
search on the name of the file, I found that all the buttons list
in a registry key. I saw the "Dimmer" file using the button
folder and clicked on it. Poof... lights went out. Click again,
Poof... lights turn it back on. So I replaced the wrong button definitions
with CDDVD and dimmer values. Saved my changes but is not a restart.
Opens the support button utility and change the path of
MediaPlayer (who was always there to a previous definition) to
Dimmer.exe. checked to see if the button CDDVD pointed
MediaPlayer and restarted. When everything has been started, I pushed on the
button again and presto... MUTE lights off. Pushed again, poof...
lights. Pressed the mediaplayer button and started to mediaplyer. I have
has been very happy when everything worked.
    Now that you
know the story, here's the fix.

    * Difficulty: *.
    * Download and install the new VAP from here: [http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/util_tvap_26084A.exe]
    * Choose Edit in the installation and make sure that everything is checked
    * do NOT restart after the installation.
    * Download the ini fix and the fixed registry
    * Uncompress its contents into your working folder.
    * Copy the ini into C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TBS (where C: is the drive of program files)
    * In this same folder, start the exe called TBSbtnSt.exe
    * do NOT restart, click on 'no' in the dialog box.
    * Double click on the registry key, and then click 'Yes' to add to the registry
    * Then open the button support utility by clicking Start-> Toshiba-> utilities-> Toshiba assist. Help go to optimilization and click support button tohiba
    * If the path or the description is disabled, fix, and then click Save. See also if the CD/DVD mediaplayer points.
    * Restart you computer now.
    * If everything is is well past your special buttons should work.

    * WARNING: *.

    It worked for
me, with my Toshiba Satellite P300-h-13, edition windows Home premium 32-bit.
It should work on any model of 6 buttons with the mediaplayer and the mute
buttons. I am in no way responsible for any damage that may arise
If the fix does not work correctly. There is absolutely no. GARUENTEE
It will work for you. If the answer is Yes, he does, and if it's not it
    doesn't work.
